- Eating is not prohibited. You have to eat, because you have got this body. But not that simply for eating I am living. This is called yukta-vairagya
- Either a flower or anything, nature's product, it is perfectly done. In this way you have to develop your God consciousness or Krsna consciousness. There are books. There are explanations. There are teachers
- Either on the bodily plane or on the mental plane you cannot be happy. That is not possible. But if you want to be happy then you have to come to the spiritual platform and engage in spiritual activities
- Either you become communist or capitalist or this or that, you have to accept one leader. So take the best, first-class, perfect leader: Krsna. Then you'll be happy
- Either you eat meat or vegetables, if it is eaten for my satisfaction of the tongue, you become implicated in sinful activities, and you have to suffer the reaction
- Either you get a princely body or a dog's body, because you have accepted a material body, therefore you have to suffer. You have to suffer. There is no excuse
- Either you nicely eat or wrongly eat, but you have to fulfill your bell(y) and satisfy your hunger. That is not advancement of civilization. To eat nicely, to sleep nicely, to defend nicely and to have sexual life nicely
- Either you select Buddha or Lenin or somebody else, you have to accept one leader and follow
- Even at the time of death you are very sorry because you have to change the body. Even for changing one apartment for another apartment you are sorry. Therefore for a sannyasi it is recommended that he should not live more than three days in a place
- Even if you accept this place of misery to be your permanent residence, that also you cannot have. You have to go out. Today or tomorrow or fifty years after, you have to go

- Here the material disease is not to surrender. Everyone is puffed-up, "I am something." This is material disease. Therefore, to become cured from this material disease, you have to surrender

- How can we imitate Lord Siva? Lord Siva never advised that we drink poison. So you have to abide by the advice, not imitate. These LSD & marijuana people say that Lord Siva used to smoke ganja. But Lord Siva drank the whole poisoned ocean. Can you do that
- How one can understand what is actual Absolute Truth, what is the religious path? The last instruction is mahajano yena gatah sa panthah (Cc. Madhya 17.186). Therefore you have to follow the footprints of authorities
- How to understand Krsna? That is recommended, sevonmukhe hi jihvadau. You have to engage your tongue first of all in the service of the Lord. The Krsna realization begins from the tongue
- How you can become svami? Because we are falsely thinking that "I am the proprietor. I am the enjoyer. I am the leader. I am the friend of my family, my society, my nation," so many ways, you have to convert these things
- How you can expect good society, good management? If you want good society, good management, people happy in this life and next, then you have to adopt the principles given by Sri Krsna Himself in the Bhagavad-gita
- However big, big skyscraper building you may have, you have to suffer. But these dull brain cannot understand, because madmen

- If we understand why Bhagavan appears as the son of Devaki, then you become liberated. Bhagavan says, janma karma ca me divyam yo janati tattvatah (BG 4.9). You have to learn it tattvatah, in truth, not superficially
- If we want to understand the real reality, vastava-vastu, that is Krsna, then this is the process. What is that? (SB 1.2.12) You have to receive through the channel of parampara system, bhakti

- If you are simply dressed, and if you want to enjoy sense gratification, it is not possible. You have to undress yourself, you have to become naked yourself. Similarly, if you want to sense gratify, then you have to purify your this material existence
- If you are simply satisfied only by living a bigger span of life, is that very success? Just stop death. That is success. To become very strong in body, that is not success. But either you become strong and weak, you have to die
- If you artificially think that "I'm not going to bow down anyone. I am independent," then you suffer. Simply you have to seek out the proper place where you have to bow down. That's all
- If you cannot understand, then you have to put questions very humbly, pranipatena, not by challenging. Pranipata. Pranipata means very humbly submitting oneself
- If you contaminate some disease, then you must develop that disease. Similarly, if your mind is contaminated with some material designation, then you have to accept similar body, by nature's way
- If you create a void in the Spirit unnecessarily, you have to create necessarily a fill-up in the material existence, and that is the cause why temples are being replaced by vulgar cinemas

- If you don't become servant of Krsna, then you have to become servant of maya. You cannot be master of maya. That is not possible. Master of maya is Krsna. Mama maya

- If you sit down and write some article on Krsna, that means you have to concentrate on Krsna's activities, & that very process will purify your heart. Therefore we always recommend to our students that you write articles, read our magazine, read our book
- If you teach the principles of Bhagavad-gita, then you have to take the principles of Bhagavad-gita. If you want to read Bhagavad-gita, so if you remain in other atmosphere, then it will not help. It is simply waste of time
- If you think that, "This material world is very nice. Let me stay here," Higher authorities in the management of these worldly affairs, Yamaraja, he'll not allow you to stay. You have to change your body

- If you want real pleasure, then brahma-saukhyam - you have to seek pleasure in the Brahman

- If you want really release from these four principles of material way of life, then you have to purify your existence. You purify yourself, then you will be allowed to enter into the purified spiritual sky, & you'll get a place in one of the planets there
- If you want spiritual salvation, then you have to hear and chant about Visnu, nobody else. Sravanam kirtanam visnoh
- If you want sunshine, then you have to wait til morning, when by the grace of God, by the order of God, sun will rise: you'll get sunshine. Not by your scientific method
- If you want the nicest thing then you have to pay for it. But by the grace of Lord Caitanya, the payment has been made very easy. Chant Hare Krsna. Everything becomes very easy.
- If you want to advance yourself in spiritual science, then you have to test these three things. What is that? Sadhu, saintly person. Sadhu, sastra, scriptures, and spiritual master
- If you want to be a medical practitioner, if you purchase books from the bookstore, medical books, and you study, that will not help you. You have to admit yourself in a medical college and study there. Then you will understand
- If you want to be free from the reaction of the sinful activities in this life - exactly in the same way as Christian Bible advises that you have to make some atonement, go to the church and confess your sinful activities and pay some fine
- If you want to be great soul in terms of the Vedic literature, in terms of Bhagavad-gita, in terms of great saints and sages, then you have to adopt this Krsna consciousness and chanting of Hare Krsna. No other process will be possible
- If you want to be happy, free from all cares and anxieties, then you have to engage yourself in devotional service of the Lord
- If you want to be happy, if you want to make your life successful, human life, then you have to take this principle of mayy asakta manah. You have to increase your attachment for Krsna. This is the meaning of Krsna consciousness movement

- If you want to be saved from the tribulation offered by the material nature, then you have to be very thoughtful, thinking that what is the actual position. That is the beginning of Vedanta-sutra, that, You inquire about Brahman, the Absolute Truth
- If you want to become mahatma really, then you have to come to this point, to understand originally, the Vasudeva is the supreme cause of all causes. That is perfection of life
- If you want to become sura, there is no impediment, there is no obstacle. You can become. Simply you have to know what sort of life we should accept, pravrtti - this is called pravrtti - and what sort of life we should reject. This is required
- If you want to become very good man, then you have to follow these regulative principles: no illicit sex life, no meat-eating, no intoxication, no gambling. These are the four pillars of sinful life
- If you want to come to the right conclusion, then you have to hear from persons authorized, not from the nonsense rascals, politicians, diplomats
- If you want to control the senses, you have to control the tongue first of all. Then you will be able to control other senses very easily
- If you want to enjoy spiritual life, then you have to enjoy in spiritual body. But as we have no information of the spiritual life, spiritual enjoyment, we are simply desiring to enjoy this world
- If you want to enter into the spiritual kingdom, as Lord Jesus Christ also said: "The kingdom of God is for the meek and the . . ." Huh? Meek and mild, yes. So that is the qualification. You have to become humble
- If you want to get out of this illusion, maya, then you have to accept the Krsna's formula. Mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti te. Everything is there in the Bhagavad-gita for guidance if we accept the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita as it is
- If you want to go back home, back to home, back to Godhead, then you have to become pure, without any contamination of this material world
- If you want to go to the sun planet or moon planet - there are many heavenly planets - you can go there. Yanti deva-vrata devan. Then you have to prepare in this life how to go there. You cannot go there by force, with your sputnik or some jet
- If you want to know higher science - not this science, simply filling of the belly; not this science - higher science, which is above the fulfilling the belly, that, for that purpose, you have to go to guru. Guru means who knows more than you
- If you want to know Krsna as He is, then you have to know Him through bhakti-yoga, not any other. Others, they may go on speculating for many, many millions of years. Still, they will not be able to understand
- If you want to know Krsna tattvatah, in truth, then you have to go through this bhakti process, not by your speculative process. Krsna is not open to your sensual gratification
- If you want to know Krsna, it is not possible to any other means. There are many other means - karma, yoga, jnana and bhakti - but if you want to know Krsna, then you have to take the bhakti-yoga, no other
- If you want to know Krsna, then as Krsna says you have to understand
- If you want to know Krsna, then you have to accept bhakti, nothing else. Krsna never says jnana or yoga or karma will help you. No, that will not help. That will entangle you more and more - again repetition of birth and death
- If you want to know what is dharma, then you have to approach these twelve great personalities. Otherwise it will remain durbodham, very difficult to understand. Although it is very pure, because I am impure, I will not be able to understand
- If you want to learn Krsna, if you want to know Krsna, then you have to take this process, mayy asakta-manah partha yogam. And if you practice this yoga, krsna-yoga, or bhakti-yoga, then you become the topmost of all yogis

- If you want to live forever, then you have to take to Krsna consciousness. So Krsna consciousness movement is so important and nice. Everyone wants to live. So actually, if you want to live, then you take to KC
- If you want to love God, there is nothing throughout the whole world which can check you. Simply you have to develop your eagerness: "Krsna, I want You." That's all. Then there is no question of checking
- If you want to love Krsna, there is no check. There is no check. The road is open. Simply you have to become sincere. That's all. Then Krsna will clear the way. And if there is no sincerity, then Krsna's maya is there
- If you want to possess real knowledge you have to approach somebody who is perfect
- If you want to reach to the ultimate goal of life, where only blissful life, sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah, eternal body of knowledge and bliss, then you have to become sura
- If you want to remodel your life, the society, the human society, nationally or internationally - everything is spoken here, international - then you have to take to the advice of Krsna
- If you want to select a guru, you have to see "Whether this person is fully surrendered to Krsna?" Then he is guru
- If you want to stop the danger of death, then you have to understand what is that Absolute Truth. Just like I have given already the example of sunshine. If you come to the sunshine, there is no darkness
- If you want to stop this blazing fire of material existence, then you have to spread this Krsna consciousness movement all over the world
- If you want to study Bhagavad-gita, then you have to become a devotee. Simply academic educational qualification will not help you
- If you want to take pleasure in the company of Krsna and dance rasa dance, then you have to become pure, purified. That is sarvopadhi vinirmuktam, to free from all designation. Narayana parayana. Narayana society or Krsna society, the same thing
- If you want to understand Krsna, then you have to adopt the process of bhakti. No other process
- If you want to understand Krsna, then you must approach a person who knows Krsna. It is not fanaticism or mental speculation. You have to learn the art scientifically
- If you want to understand the Absolute Truth, then you have to follow great personalities, great devotees. Just like in the Western world, Lord Jesus Christ, you have to follow his principles
- If you want to worship the Supreme Lord, then you have to worship Him simply by service. There is no other process
- If you want ultimate goal, ultimate goal means to get free from the conditional life, repetition of birth, death, old age - then you have to take shelter of Lord Visnu
- If you, by innocence, put your hand on the fire, so fire will not excuse you. So innocence is no excuse. You have to be learned. Therefore we are here to give proper education to the people
- If your wealth is diminished, then your poverty is increased, balance. If you increase this side, the other side will go up, and if you increase that side, the other side will . . . but you have to keep balance. That is required

- Instead of becoming servant of the senses, you have to become master of the senses. That is called gosvami. If you remain servant of the senses, then you are go-dasa
- Instead of trying to make this material world as beloved, you have to make Krsna as beloved. That is Krsna consciousness. The everything is there. You get everything in return, as here, you are trying to enjoy, but without any inebriety
- Isvara, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, paramatma, He is situated in everyone's heart. You haven't got to search out. He is there within your heart. Simply you have to know the method how to see. That is wanted

- It is compulsory business of our life to understand God, or Krsna, if you want santi. Jnatva mam santim rcchati. If you want santi, then you have to know God, what is God, not vague idea, actually. Jnatva mam santim rcchati. You have to know
- It is eternally truth, eternally fact, that you have got your love for Krsna within yourself. Simply you have to revive. That process is easy, very easy. The chanting
- It is indicated that even if you are the greatest personality, you have to approach and serve the spiritual master just like ordinary menial servant
- It is not so easy job, see the eyes from the shadow, and in this way you have to pierce. It is not so easy job
- It is not that coming to the platform of a qualified brahmana, one can understand Krsna. That is also not. Still, you have to go farther. Brahma-bhuta. Brahma janati iti brahmanah. Brahmana can understand Brahman
- It is not that practically you are experimenting by going to the sun, that it is so great and so long, so broad. That is not possible. You have to receive such knowledge through authority. That's all
- It is not that you have to search out God anywhere else, but you can search out within yourself. And that searching process is called yoga
- It is not the question of belief. It is a fact. You have to accept another body after this body, just like you have already accepted. Your childhood body was there, and that is gone. You accepted another body
- It is not the question of whether it is pleasurable or nonpleasurable, but if you want to cure yourself from the disease, you have to follow the directions. That is the process

- It is the duty of vaisnava to go door to door to make them fortunate. Although they are unfortunate, but you have to go door to door to make them fortunate. That is your duty
- It is the essence of all Vedic literature, Bhagavad-gita As It Is. You have to learn BG as it is. Don't interpret in your own way. There is no possibility. But people do it, and foolish persons, they accept it. No, there is no question of interpretation

- Just imagine in your previous lives you had been a great man of knowledge, but in this life, since your childhood, you had to go to school, college, and acquire knowledge. The knowledge which you had in your previous lives is now forgotten
- Just like a lawyer is he who follows the standard law. If a lawyer says that "I have manufactured own my laws," so who will hear him? And what will be the use of becoming lawyer? No. You have to follow the standard law
- Just like before entering law college you have to become graduate, similarly, before entering the realm of devotional service you have to realize that all living entities are on the same platform. That is realization
- Just like if you have a cheap thing, it goes wrong, you have to purchase another new thing. But if you purchase a real, nice thing it will go, continue for good. Similarly, so long you are getting this cheap body, material body, you have to change
- Just like in political activities you accept some party, Congress party or this party or that party. That is the system, even in politics. Similarly, you have to accept a party of devotee
- Just like these boys are being trained up in Krsna consciousness. So it requires little training. Just like you are mathematician. To make another student mathematician, you have to train him
- Just like to cure disease, you have to follow some regulative principle of, prescribed by the physician, similarly, in order to cure yourself from this material disease, you have to accept. Nivrtti. Nivrttitah means ceasing this process of material life
- Just like when you, in the aeroplane, there may be thousands of aeroplanes, others, but when your aeroplane is in danger, nobody can save you. You have to save yourself, Otherwise, you go to hell. Similarly, we have to save ourself individually by KC
- Just like you suffer when you create some disturbance in the law. Then you suffer. We have got experience. If we violate the state laws, then you have to suffer
- Just try to glorify the Supreme Lord, the great. That’s all. And whatever capacity you have got - not that you have to qualify yourself in this way

- Kardama Muni advised his wife: "You have to factually engage in devotional service with austerity and penance, following the religious principles and giving charity. Then the Supreme Lord will be pleased with you, and He will come as your son
- Karma means general activities on moral principle. That is called karma. Real karma means that you have to live, so you have to work. So work in such a way that you may not be entangled
- Karma means you have to enjoy the result, fruitive result. That is called karma. And vikarma means punishable, papa. And akarma means you do something, but you are neither punishable nor rewardable
- Karma, you have to work. You cannot maintain yourself without working. That is material world. Material world is not spiritual world
- Killing means that you have to eat something. Our philosophy is that we cannot stop killing, but there is no unnecessary killing
- Knowledge is not that you have to get degrees from the university, big, big degrees. No. Real knowledge is that, "I am . . ." aham brahmasmi, "I am spirit soul." If one has realized this one word only, then he is knowledge. He's in knowledge
- Krsna advises 4 things: man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru (BG 18.65). Then what will be the result? Mam evaisyasi. Simply by practicing these things. It does not require any M.A., Ph.D. Simply you have to agree, Yes, I shall think of Krsna
- Krsna also accepted guru. So how you will get the ultimate goal of life without accepting guru? Why do you manufacture this idea? There is no need of manufacturing this. You have to follow
- Krsna and maya; light and shadow. If you don't serve Krsna, then you have to serve maya. And those who are serving maya in the name of Krsna, they are called Mayavadi
- Krsna consciousness means you have to study everything, how things are going on. And this is stated. You have to simply think, "Yes." You have to confirm by your brain. If you have got dull brain, then how you can study
- Krsna consciousness movement is nothing extra; it is simply cleansing your heart to understand things as they are. That's all. Nothing external. You have to understand that you are eternal servant of God, or son
- Krsna has recommended that, "If you want to Me . . . know Me, then you have to adopt this process, bhakti-yoga." And Krsna accepts everything through bhakti
- Krsna is advising Arjuna that either goodness or passion or ignorance, after all, they are activities of this material world. You have to come above, transcend this position of goodness also. So goodness is not qualification for spiritual advancement
- Krsna is everywhere, Krsna is within your heart, Krsna is within the atom. Andantara-stha-paramanu-cayantara-stham (Bs. 5.35), that's a fact, but where is your realization? Therefore you have to begin realization by arcana. That is very essential
- Krsna is Isa, the Supreme, but I cannot see Him. Now, Krsna is there. You are blind. Why don't you see Him? Therefore you cannot see. So you have to open your eyes, not close. That is the business of guru. The guru opens the eyes
- Krsna is not poor. And the Krsna-seller, the Krsna devotee, he is also not poor. He can distribute Krsna free. And he's doing that. Simply you have to purchase by your eagerness. That is wanted. Tatra laulyam
- Krsna is showing example, where we should offer our surrender and accept guru. Here is Krsna. So you have to accept Krsna or His representative as guru. Then your problems will be solved. Otherwise it is not possible
- Krsna is there, everyone's heart. Isvarah sarva-bhutanam hrd-dese 'rjuna tisthati (BG 18.61). Krsna is not far away. But you have to search out where is Krsna within your heart. That is called yoga
- Krsna never says that "You have to go to the factory, earn money, and then you can love me." He never makes this condition
- Krsna said to the gopis that "You have to be satisfied with your own business. I cannot return you anything for your love." Krsna, the Supreme, the all-powerful, He was unable to repay the debts for the gopis
- Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita that you have to offer something out of your love. Love means you must give something. You are taking something from Krsna. Why not give something? Is it love, simply going on taking, taking, taking
- Krsna says something, and I understand something. That you go on with your millions of years; it will never be possible. You have to understand Krsna as He says. Therefore we are presenting Bhagavad-gita as it is. That is real understanding
- Krsna says that "I shall explain to you jnanam, theoretical knowledge, with practical experiment." Not that you have to accept this knowledge blindly. Practical experiment
- Krsna says that this place is full of miseries. To get that one million dollar you have to undergo so many miserable condition of life
- Krsna says that you have to develop your attachment for Him. Begin at the beginning, but you can do it; it is not artificial
- Krsna says, "I shall give you protection from all the resultant action of your sinful life." That is fate changed. If you don't surrender to Krsna, then you have to suffer or enjoy the actions of your fruitive activities
- Krsna says, "If you want to know Me, then you have to accept this bhakti-yoga. No other means will . . ." because without full surrender unto Krsna, nobody can know Him
- Krsna says, patram puspam phalam toyam yo me. The real thing is whether you are lover & devotee. Then Krsna will accept anything you offer. It is not you have to cook very sumptuously, very rich food, then Krsna you'll offer. Krsna is not after your food
- Krsna says. You'll have to change this body. It may be for fifty years, sixty years, utmost hundred years, but still, you have to change this body. Therefore asat
- Krsna takes away everything as death. Your grha, your house, your land, your wife, your children, your friend, your reputation - everything is taken away. And then you have to begin another life
- Krsna worship is so easy, universal. Other worshiping method you have to collect so many things, then you can worship. Or you must have temple, you must have church, you must have worshiping place. But Krsna is everywhere
- Krsna's direct instruction is there: Bhagavad-gita. But you have to learn it through the disciplic succession, otherwise you will misunderstand it
- Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, says that "If you want to know Me, then you have to increase your attachment for Me." This is the first condition
- Krsna, we have already stated, is seated in everyone's heart. If you want to consult Him, He can give you instruction. The only thing is that you have to become qualified like Brahma so that you can received instruction from Him within the heart

- Let everyone be engaged to his specific duty. It doesn't matter what it is. But if you want to see that whether your function is perfected, then you have to test it, whether by your activities Krsna is satisfied
- Like a bird. He can fly in the sky without any mechanical arrangement. He has got the potency. You cannot. If you want to fly in the sky, then you have to make some machine
- Like a dress, when it is torn, when it is too old, you have to change it. Similarly, when this body becomes useless, no more, it cannot be pulled on any more, you take another body
- Lord Sri Krsna stops Her from going, telling Her, First You have to pay the fee; then You will be allowed to go. This pastime is called dana-keli-lila

- Mahajanas, great personalities, what they have done, you cannot imitate them. You have to follow them. You have to follow the instruction of Krsna or His representative, but you cannot imitate them. Then you'll fall down
- Material world is not spiritual world. In the spiritual world you haven't got to work, neither you have to eat. Everything is complete
- Material, suppose if you have to accept the post of high-court judge, then you have to gradually qualify yourself. But spiritually, if you immediately engage yourself in the service of the Lord, then you become a high-court judge immediately
- Mean on the basic principle, the ahimsa paramo dharma, where is ahimsa? You have to kill. Either you kill vegetable or animal, you have to kill. Then where is the standing of ahimsa? That is my point
- Mukti does not take so much time that you have to undergo so much severe austerities and go to the jungle and go to the Himalaya and meditate and press your nose and so many things. It doesn't require so many things
- My birth and death is disease. You have to cure this disease. That is your problem, real problem. But they are not serious about curing . . . solving this real problem, birth and death
- My dear Partha, you wanted to see with whom you have to fight. Now here is Bhisma, Drona & many other kings, all the descendants of Kuru dynasty, your Dhrtarastra's sons. Now you see very nicely & be prepared to fight with them
- My Guru Maharaja always instructed that it is not necessary that you have to qualify yourself for serving Krsna. Whatever qualification you have already got, that is sufficient to come to the platform of service. That’s all

- Nature is baffling your plan. That you have to understand, "Why nature is baffling me?" That is real knowledge
- Nature's law is so particular, as soon as you infect by association a particular type of quality, you have to suffer for that
- Nature's law is so perfect. Daivi hy esa gunamayi mama maya duratyaya (BG 7.14). You cannot escape. Suppose you can eat two ounce, and if you eat four ounce, then you have to starve three days. This is the law
- No argument that "Such stool is impure. Even my spiritual master's stool is also impure. How is that that animal cow dung is pure?" But because it is in the Vedas it is said pure, you have to accept
- Nobody can manufacture a police department and force you to obey. Because it is one of the important department of government, therefore as soon as there is police hands up, you have to stop
- Nobody has got clear conception of God; neither they do not know what is the meaning of trust under the circumstances. So you have to learn it scientifically. And our propaganda is like that, to teach actually what is God and what is trust
- Nobody is constructing a temple. The modern economists, they say "nonproductive endeavor" - and there is no income; simply you have to spend money for maintaining the temple
- Nobody is free from material disturbance. That is not possible. So if you actually want freedom from material disturbances, you have to come to the spiritual platform and cultivate spiritual knowledge and be fixed up. Then your life is successful
- Nobody understands this philosophy, but this is real philosophy: not to waste your valuable time for improving your economic condition. That is not possible. You have to utilize every moment to see how we are improving Krsna consciousness
- Not becomes - it (deity) is Krsna. Just like this electric wire - it is electricity. One who knows the process, he can derive electricity out of it. It (deity) is Krsna. But you have to know the process of understanding that it is Krsna. It is Krsna
- Not only simply reading, but when he realizes what is Brahman, then he is brahmana. Not easy, the stages. This Brahman is impersonal Brahman, and still, you have to go above
- Not that because you have got tendency, you have to increase it. That is not human civilization. Human civilization means we have got so many animal propensities, and if we can control them, that is advancement of human civilization
- Not that somebody will come to ask you that "You have infected this disease. Now you have to suffer from this." No. The machine is so perfect that as you have infected this disease . . . this is practically we know
- Nothing belongs to you. The fruit is God's. The flower is God's. You are God's. Simply you have to change your consciousness. This is Krsna consciousness
- Now you are in doubt about whether a guru is needed. Yes, a guru is needed, but you have to go to a real guru. That is the instruction given by Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita
- Now, say, I'll live eighty years. Now I am seventy-one. So after nine years I'll have to change this body. Sure. There is nobody can, by scientific process, can stay here. No. That is not allowed. You have to change your body
- Nowadays coat-pant is very costly. If you can spend your money, costly dress, we have no objection. Then you have to earn more; you have to work more. Therefore we are simplified
- Nowadays they (the people) have manufactured so many objective (of meditation), but that is not authorized. The authorized is that you have to concentrate your mind upon the form of Visnu known as Aniruddha. That is the real meditation

- Of course, it is not possible to take the shelter of Krsna directly. That is not possible. May be possible by Krsna's special mercy, but general process is you have to go through the mercy or process of accepting a guru
- One body is in need of food; another body is in need of something else. They're needy, everyone needy. That you have to accept
- One has to learn this science from the parampara system. Evam parampara-praptam. You have to go to the right person who knows Krsna
- One has to sit nicely in a secluded place, in a sanctified place, and sit straight, with your neck, head and body in one straight line. Then you have to see the tip of your nose without closing your eyes and not opening your eyes
- One must be first of all qualified. That qualification means one must be above the three qualities of material nature. Goodness . . . even you have to go beyond the quality of goodness
- One should be intelligent enough to understand or to hear katha of Krsna. Simply you have to do this. Just like you are all sitting here. It doesn't require that you have to pass M.A. examination, Ph.D. examination. God has given you the ear
- One should see to the duhkha, unhappiness, on account of birth and death. So suppose you will get next life in the heavenly planet, or you shall become very rich man, or you shall become very learned man, but you have to go through these distresses, janma
- One side you get fat salary, another side you have to purchase three rupees a kilo rice - finish your salary. This is going on
- One side you have to follow restrictions, and on the other side you have to engage yourself in devotional service
- One thing is that you have to become intelligent. Just like Bhagavad-gita it is said, dharma-ksetre kuru-ksetre samaveta yuyutsavah (BG 1.1). Now why I shall accept interpretation on these plain words? That is my foolishness
- One who has actually seen or actually realized the truth, you have to take knowledge from there. So we have to approach such person. Otherwise, if we approach some speculator, we cannot get real knowledge
- One who has heard, given aural reception nicely, he is perfect knowledge. Therefore our Vedas are known as sruti. You have to learn it by hearing, not by studying
- One who has taken fully shelter under the lotus feet of Para-brahman, Krsna, you have to take shelter of such a guru. Otherwise you'll not be able to get out of these clutches of maya
- Our fight is for this purpose, no more death. This is real fight. Your, what is your fight? You may save yourself for two years or three years or ten years, but you have to die. You have no such program not to die. But here is a program, no more death
- Our knowledge, our experience, experimental knowledge, everything will fail to understand the supreme controller. Therefore His name is Adhoksaja. Still you have to understand that
- Our method is directly to connect you. That is the special gift of Lord Caitanya - immediately to contact him with Krsna. Because ultimately you have to come to that point, Krsna consciousness

- Out of many fools someone tries to understand what I actually am. Dog? American? Russian? This real inquiry goes on. If you inquire, you have to ask someone, not just yourself
- Outside the covering (sky) there are five layers, thousand times bigger than the one another: water layer, air layer, fire layer. So you have to penetrate all these layers. Then you will get the spiritual world
P
- Papa means born in low-grade family. They are called papa. Suddhyanti: they become purified. This is the verdict of the sastra, that bhagavad-bhakti does not depend on any kind of material qualification. Simply you have to become very sincere and serious
- Param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan. This is understanding. This is parampara understanding. If you want to understand Bhagavad-gita, if you want to understand Krsna, then you have to follow the footprints of the mahajanas
- Pranipata means you must have the qualification to, at least, to find out a person who is actually qualified to give you real instruction. That you have to do. That remains on you
- Preaching means that you have to turn the rascals and unfortunate to become intelligent and fortunate. That is preaching. But unless you are fortunate and intelligent, you cannot take to Krsna consciousness. That is a fact

- Rascal says that "You can accept any way." No! Only one way: Krsna consciousness. You cannot supply foodstuff to your body by so many holes. You have got nine holes in your body. One hole, this hole. You have to supply food to, not this hole, rectum
- Real guru is he who instructs what Krsna has said. It is not that you manufacture your teaching. No. There is no need of manufacturing. The instruction is already there. You have simply to say, "This is this." That's all. Is it very difficult task?
- Real renunciation means you have to give up the andha-kupa life and take shelter of Krsna, harim asrayeta. If you take shelter of Krsna, then you can give up this, all this "ism" life. Otherwise, it is not possible
- Real suffering is here, that you have to take your birth, you have to die, you have to suffer from disease and old age
- Religious principle means you have to execute the preliminary formulas, but the ultimate end will be you'll have spontaneous attraction for hearing about God, or Krsna. That is wanted
- Renunciation means to give up these sinful activities. That is real renunciation. Otherwise, you cannot renounce anything. You have to live. And that is allowed at the cost of God
- Repression means, suppose you have a disease, you are suffering from typhoid fever, and the doctor says that you don't take any solid food. Now if you desire to take a paratha, you have to repress it: "No, I cannot take paratha"

- Sabda-pramana means as soon as there is evidence in the Vedic literature, "This is this," you have to accept. Then your knowledge is perfect because you are accepting things from the perfect source
- Sadhu-sanga means you have to give up the association of nondevotees
- Sanga means execution. When you associate with medical association or sharebrokers' association, simply go there and sit down is not your business. You have to do something. You have to do something. Sat-sanga means that
- Sastra-caksusa: you have to see through the sastra. Otherwise, we have no eyes to see past, present, future
- Sat-sanga means you have to take the knowledge and use it for practical purpose. That is sat-sanga. So our this Krsna consciousness movement is trying to give the sat-sanga, opening centers all over the world
- Science is discovering some subtle laws of the nature, but who made that law? As soon as you say that "Here is a law which is being carried very nicely," there must be a law maker. You have to accept it
- Sense gratification is wrong. You cannot gratify your senses. You have to enjoy your senses in the service of the Lord. That is perfection
- Service spirit is your constitutional position. You have to serve. But because you have placed your service spirit in a wrong place, you are frustrated. You have to put it into the right place, and that is Krsna consciousness movement
- Service you cannot stop. But you have to stop your service to the nonsense, and you have to give service to the reality. Then you become mahatma
- Several times I have discussed this point, that a big tree, if you have to pour water, then you have to pour water on the root
- Similarly, if you want to study Bhagavad-gita, then you have to become a devotee. Simply academic educational qualification will not help you, because it was spoken to the devotee
- Simply by hearing from the teacher, they'll remember. That is called tradition by hearing. Therefore education means sruti. Srutibhir pratipannam. Anything, if you want to prove, then you have to give evidence from the sruti
- Simply trust in God is not sufficient. We must know what is God. Trusting something oblivion, something fantasy, that is no trust. You must know where to put your trust. That is Bhagavad-gita. You have to know this, what is God
- Simply try to understand Krsna, that's all, even if you don't serve Him. But Krsna is so attractive, as soon as you understand Krsna, then you have to serve Him. You see? It is so nice
- Simply we have to agree, "My Lord, from today, I dedicate my life for Your service," you are immediately brahma-bhutah. Immediately, from that moment. It is so nice. Not that you have to take some time how to become brahma-bhutah
- Simply you have to agree, "Yes, I shall think of Krsna, chant Hare Krsna." That's all. That is required. Then gradually you become bhakta. Gradually you worship, and gradually you offer obeisances, surrender. That one, that is wanted by Krsna
- Simply you have to open your feelings of love of Godhead. Then He's pleased. It does not depend on the particular type of language or poetic ideas. No
- Simply you have to read Bhagavad-gita as it is. Then you'll understand. There is no question of interpretation. Then the authority is gone. As soon as you interpret, then there is no authority
- Simply you have to smear your eyes with the ointment of love of God, Krsna. And if you want to come to that stage, then you have to follow the instruction given by Srila Rupa Gosvami in the Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu

- So far prasada distribution, it must be very gorgeously done for seven days. There is no scarcity of money. I (Prabhupada) shall supply. Simply you have to manage things
- So here this material world, either you become a tiger, either you become Lord Brahma or you become a small ant, you have to struggle for your existence. This is material world
- So if you are actually serious, approaching Krsna - He is param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam (BG 10.12) - you have to cleanse yourself from all sinful activities
- So if you want to understand Krsna, then you have to take the life of devotion. And one who does not take to this life of devotion, he cannot understand Krsna
- So long you are attached even to a pinch of material taste, there is no question of liberation from material miseries; you have to continue this transmigration from one body to another, and body means material miseries
- So long you manufacture ideas, you may be pacified for some time, but it will not exist. Therefore you have to stop this manufacturing process, that "I shall be happy in this way." No. That is called free of anxieties
- So long you shall remain within this material world, you have to accept these four principles of material condition, that you'll have to die
- So long you'll get this material body, you have to suffer. It is meant for suffering. As soon as you get this material body, this body or that body, you have to suffer
- So our duty is to serve God. There is no other duty. That is Caitanya Mahaprabhu's preaching, that "You have no other duty, anything. That is all false illusion
- So spiritual life is so sublime and so invigorating that you won't feel fatigued. Won't. Once... You have to be engaged. And as you are engaged actually in spiritual life, you won't feel fatigued. You'll be fearless
- So tattva-darsi, one who has seen the truth, you have to accept him as guru. Tattva-darsi. Darsi means who has practical experience
- So the real intelligence means you have to find out where there is no danger. That is the... Where there is real happiness. In the material world, we cannot have happiness
- So there are two things: Krsna and maya; light and shadow. If you don't serve Krsna, then you have to serve maya. And those who are serving maya in the name of Krsna, they are called Mayavadi
- So this is called accepting and rejecting. So Krsna says, "You have to give up all this nonsense accepting and rejecting. You have to take to Me, then you'll be happy
- So this is not the solution. You cannot make a solution of the misery of your life by artificial intoxication. That is not possible. You have to make the solution by this Krsna consciousness
- So to understand even Brahman, one requires to become brahmana. Brahma janati iti brahmanah. Brahman, understands Brahman, that is the first step. Then you have to make further progress
- So you may name it "earring," but you have to add "gold" - golden earring. You may name it "necklace," but it is gold, because originally it came from the gold mine. Similarly, originally, everything is coming from Krsna
- So, the real explanation is that you take which is offered to Krsna. That is nice philosophy. Killing you have to do, either you kill vegetable or animal, killing you have to do. Therefore our proposition is that you take the prasadam of Krsna
- Sometime doctor advises, physician, or the surgeon that, "Unless you cut off this finger, the whole hand will be poison," and you have to cut off to save the other fingers. Similarly, we are all part and parcel of the Supreme Lord
- Soul is important. You have to understand what is that soul. That is knowledge
- Spiritual life does not mean you have to grow four hands and four legs. No. Simply you have to give up these tendencies of vyavayamisa-madya-seva (illicit sex life and intoxication). Therefore sastra gives you training how to
- Spiritual master is the representative of God, or Krsna. Just like if you work in some office, so there is one head man, representative of the proprietor of the company. You have to work under him
- Spiritual nature, however, is unborn, and at once we can see the difference. The material nature is born. You have to understand; if Krsna is unborn then He is spiritual, not like one of us
- Sri Nama, CD 3 - Either you stay at your home as a householder, or you stay in the forest as the renounced order of life, it does not make difference, but you have to chant the maha-mantra, Hare Krsna
- Srotavyah means "You (Pariksit) have to hear, because hearing there is, but you have to, especially you, because you are on the verge of death." So who is not on the verge of death? Everyone. We cannot say that my life is guaranteed. It is not possible

- Sukham atyantikam yat tat buddhi-grahyam atindriyam. Atindriyam. Atindriyam means you have to transcend these material senses. Then you can actually appreciate what is happiness
- Suppose I was a very big king or prime minister. That is all finished. Now I've got another life, another chapter of life. Tatha dehantara-praptir (BG 2.13). You have to change your body. It may be lower degree or higher degree, but you have to change
- Suppose if you have to become a medical practitioner or a lawyer. So you have to study the law books by the previous lawyers, by the judgments of the courts
- Suppose if you want to become a medical practitioner, so you have to admit yourself in some medical college. Similarly, if you want to know about spiritual matter, then you must approach a spiritual master who knows the things
- Suppose if your university gives you one degree, M.A. or B.A., Ph.D., oh, that degree you are not. It is a designation. So bhakti means you have to get yourself from these designations. Designation
- Suppose you are doing business; that is also tapasya. You have to work very hard. Money does not come so easily. Then you get some money. So it is also the result of your tapasya
- Suppose you can eat two ounce, and if you eat four ounce, then you have to starve three days. This is the law. "There's some very palatable dishes. Now eat, let me eat it to my satisfaction," and you'll overeat
- Suppose you want to know who is a spiritual master. Then you have to test whether he's speaking just like other saintly persons and whether he's following scriptures. Sadhu sastra

- Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya. If you want to understand that transcendental science, then you have to follow this principle. What is that? Tad viddhi pranipatena. You have to surrender
- Tattva means truth. You have to understand Bhagavan in truth. So that, to understand in truth, that is a science. That is not sentiment. Vijnana
- That goal of life - everyone is searching after happiness, but where I can get uninterrupted happiness, eternal happiness, blissful happiness? That you have to search out. That is the direction of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- That is called maya. That is the last snare of maya. Maya dictates that, "Now we have failed to become minister, to (become) president, and so many other big, big posts. Now you become Brahman." You are already Brahman. Simply you have to realize
- That is Krsna's grace, that you have no anything to do. You have to do it (chanting Hare Krsna mantra in the association of the devotees). That's a grace of Krsna

- The activities in householder affair is that you have to get some store from the market, and they are brought in your house, and they are stocked, and in due time they are cooked, and you take your foodstuff and then go to your work
- The authority means you have to follow blindly. That is authority. That is my point
- The bank is ready to give you money - "Purchase motorcar. Purchase this. Purchase this." And at the end of month after working hard when you get salary, the whole money is taken by the bank, again you have to work. So you are debtor and full of anxiety
- The bhakti line is so nice that if you take to bhakti line, automatically you'll be designationless. Now you have to decide whether you want to keep designation or become free from designation
- The bhakti-yoga system is authorized, and if you want to know about God, then you have to adopt this bhakti-yoga system because in the Sixth Chapter of BG it is concluded that the topmost yogi is he who is always thinking of Krsna within himself
- The defect in the modern society. They imagine. This business should be given up. He must follow. Sadhu-marganugamanam, which is prescribed by the sadhu, guru, you have to accept that. You cannot manufacture your own way
- The distance from Delhi to Vrndavana is not very much. By car it is two and a half hours and by bus it is four hours. So if you come timely in Delhi that is all right, otherwise you have to come via Delhi to Vrndavana. So do the needful
- The father (Hiranyakasipu) was insisting the son (Prahlada) that, "You give up this line of Krsna consciousness. You become politician. You have to control over the kingdom and so on, so on . . ." But he could not give up

- The impersonalist, the void philosopher, simply thinks of the negative, that I am not this matter, I am not this body. This will not stay. You have to not only realize that you are not matter, but you have to engage yourself in the spiritual world
- The materialistic way of life means to increase and create problems. That is not perfect human civilization. The perfect human civilization is that you have to sit very calmly, quietly, and philosophically think, "How to solve the problem?"
- The moon planet is Candraloka. That is also considered as one of the heavenly planets. So you have to prepare yourself by karma-kandiya activities. Then you can go there
- The more the dirty things within the heart is cleansed, more one becomes a devotee. You have to make zero all dirty desires. Then it is pure
- The nature's law is that to keep up your body you have to kill another body. Never mind it is vegetable or, I mean to say, animal or some fish or something else
- The process is you have to go to the teacher. But if the teacher is a cheater, then the whole thing is spoiled. A teacher must be teacher, perfect teacher

- The rascals posing themselves as mahatma, that is another thing. That is not authorized. You have to accept anything from the authorized source
- The real process of supplying the foodstuff is through the mouth. If somebody says, "Oh, there are nine holes. You can put the foodstuff any hole," no, that will not do. You have to supply the foodstuff through the mouth
- The revealed scripture advises that, "You have to maintain your body. That's all right. But for simply material comforts you should not devote time more than it is absolutely required." That means don't increase your bodily necessities
- The sacred thread means that one, one who has attained the second birth, samskarad bhava dvija. And after becoming dvijah, initiation, it does not mean that you are perfect. That means you are accepted. Now you have to make yourself advanced
- The sadhus have been described in different way. A sadhu . . . because everything you want to learn, you have to take some penance voluntarily. So we have to give up something in the beginning
- The sastra always says that "Don't work in such a way that you have to accept again body after death." That's, that is your business. Not that to accumulate crores and rupees and make a very good bank balance & skyscraper house & 3 or dozens of motorcars
- The science of Krsna is very difficult to understand. Durbodham. Durbodham. Durbodham means very, very difficult to understand. Therefore you have to approach the mahajanas
- The secure position is within the brahma-jyotir . . . that is explained in the Isopanisad. Within the brahma-jyotir there are planets, Vaikuntha planets. So you have to take shelter in one of the planets
- The seed is grown by cultivating, by sprinkling water, so you have to continuously hear about Krsna and chant about Krsna. Then that seed of devotional service will fructify, and then it will grow

- The soul is being carried by the mind, ego and intelligence. You cannot see it, but you have to understand by hearing from the authorities like Krsna
- The Spiritual Master and Krishna are two parallel lines. You have to make your progress on these two parallel lines, you cannot avoid one in preference of the other
- The tendency to love and service spirit, is your characteristic, and that is your religion. That is the universal form of religion. You have to apply your natural characteristic in a certain place, where you will be satisfied
- The two things are there: the divine characteristic and the demonic characteristic. Both of them are there; now you have to select which one you want. If you actually want to love Krsna, then take this divine characteristic
- The ultimate purpose of Veda is to understand Krsna. - Vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyam (BG 15.15). So Krsna or the sadhu and sastra does not stop your material activities. Because you have to act materially so long you have got this material body
- The Vedas say that you have to see through the sastra, through the authoritative sastra. With these blunt eyes what can you see
- The Vedic information is called sruti. Just try to hear. You haven't got to be educated or literate. God has given you these two ears, and you can learn. Simply you have to learn from the authorized sources. Then you will understand God

- There are 8,400,000 species of life, forms of life. You have to accept one of them. That is our real problem. If we forget the real problem and blindly or foolishly say that "God is dead . . ." God may be dead, but God's law is not dead
- There are so many occupational duties - but you have to test whether that is giving you real perfection. That test is that you have to see whether by your activity the Supreme Lord is satisfied
- There are so many religious performances, ritualistic performances. You have to spend money, so you must find out so many performances. So they have all these in the sastras
- There are two kind of activities, good or bad. If you act nicely, pious activities, then you get good chance. And if you act sinfully, then you have to suffer
- There is no cause of disappointment. You have to do your duty, that's all
- There is no impediment to become divine. Simply you have to practice for the post. Just like everyone can become high-court judge. Everyone can become the president of United States. There is no bar. But you have to be qualified

- There is superior controller, who does not allow to do this. You have to abide by the laws. This is common sense reasoning. If you are being controlled, how you become God? God means the supreme controller

- There must be some proprietor. So who is that proprietor? Krsna says, "I am the proprietor." You have to know it, whether Krsna is not proprietor. He says, "I am proprietor," but if you are doubtful, prove that He is not proprietor. That you cannot do
- These material elements, they are inferior quality, and beyond this, there is another, superior quality. That is soul. - Jiva-bhutam maha-baho yayedam dharyate jagat (BG 7.5). So you have to know from the books
- These rascals will be angry, will sometimes do harm to you, and still, you have to do it. That is preaching. Are you understanding what is preaching? Yes. You have to prepare like that. At all risk you have to preach

- They (the rascals) do not know that living creature is eternal, therefore they want to make the ultimate solution as void, zero. But it cannot be zero. It is not possible, because you are eternal. Therefore you have to cure & that curing process is KC
- They (the smrtis) cannot be changed. Nothing can be changed. But according to the time, you have to apply the principles properly. For instance, in Kali-yuga the smrti order is kirtanad eva krsnasya mukta-sangah param vrajet
- They are authorities who know exactly what is God, or Krsna, and they can direct. Therefore sastra says you have to follow the authorities. Otherwise it is not possible
- They are so much absorbed in this chanting and dancing, they are no more interested in sex. That is the only way. If you want to stop the pleasure of sex, then you have to take this pleasure, this transcendental pleasure. You'll forget everything
- They may take it as "new smrti," but smrti is smrti - it is not new. In any spiritual statement, you have to give references to sruti and smrti. Otherwise, it is not valid
- They will create motorcars, and the whole street is congested. At any moment there can be accident, and if you have to go to consult a doctor, you have to go thirty miles off
- Things which are unknown, beyond our conception, you have to know it through the authority, just like you know your father through the authority of your mother
- Thinking is not to be stopped. That is not possible. You cannot stop thinking even for a moment. Simply you have to practice. Instead of thinking these material things, you think of Krsna. That is wanted
- This (forgetting bodily identification) is only a negative conception. When you actually realize yourself, simply understanding that you are Brahman will not do. You have to engage in the activities of Brahman. Otherwise you will fall down
- This artificial life is not actual life. We are perceiving. Suppose there have been no rain for one or two years. There is a time when for hundreds of years there will be no rain. You have to wait for that time. That time is coming at the end of Kali-yuga
- This big machine (the stomach) is going on, big factory, simply you have to give the raw materials to the factory, and things will come out
- This body is working. The whole body is working, everyone's, to enjoy life, but wherefrom the enjoyment begins? The enjoyment begins from the stomach. You have to give sufficient nice foodstuffs to the stomach
- This is an opportunity, this human form of life, to decide where you want to go. Are you going to hell or heaven or back to home, or back to Godhead? That you have to decide
- This is axiomatic basis because you have to accept that your senses are imperfect. So you, by speculation, cannot have perfect knowledge. This is axiomatic truth
- This is essential. Acaryopasanam. To become humble, meek, ahimsa, non-violence, santi, tolerance - in this way you have to make progress
- This is not some sentiment. No, it is a great science. You have to understand it nicely. Then the human form of life will be successful, and otherwise it is defeated. You may become a very great nation, but that is not the solution of the problem of life
- This is one side, that if you want to please Krsna, then you have to be prepared for killing your so-called relatives. If you want Krsna. If you want to please Krsna
- This is superficially contradictory. In one place it is said that "The stool of an animal is impure. As soon as you touch, you have to be purified," and another place it is said that "Cow dung is pure." So according to our knowledge, this is contradictory
- This is the first education to Arjuna. "My dear Arjuna, you are lamenting so much for your family. You have come to war field, you have to fight, and now you are crying for your family. What is this nonsense?"
- This is the nature of material life, that he will work very hard and he will think, "That is my life." This is material life. But actually, if you are actually happy, then why you have to work so hard? But that is nonsense. He is nonsense
- This is the perfect system. Anyone who is thinking of Krsna always within himself is a first-class yogi. If you want perfection in yoga, don't be satisfied only by practicing codes. You have to go further
- This is the primary education of spiritual life. First of all you have to understand that you are not this body. You are living entity, different from the body. Just like you are different from the shirt-coat
- This is Vedic injunction. If you want to be elevated to your real constitutional position, then you have to take these principles, guru-krsna

- This Krsna consciousness movement is for giving perfect knowledge to the human society: what he is, what is God, what is this material world, why you have come here, why you have to undergo so much tribulations, miserable condition of life, why I die
- This movement is to create sadhus. You have to cooperate. This incarnation of Krsna, Krsna and nama, Krsna's name, is the same: "There is no difference between Krsna's name and Krsna." Krsna has already come by this Krsna consciousness movement
- This process, this transcendental knowledge, super, superhuman knowledge, you cannot think first of all. You cannot think. You have to learn. Realize after learning from the authority
- This rascal civilization do not admit this. They are so fool that they are conditioned in every step, and still they are thinking they are free. This is called illusion. Therefore, to get that freedom, you have to work for it
- This transcendental knowledge, superhuman knowledge, you cannot think first of all. You cannot think. You have to learn. Realize after learning from the authority
- This whole process is submission. Krsna wants this. Sarva-dharman parityajya (BG 18.66). So if you want to approach Krsna, you have to become very submissive
- Those who are actually devotees of Lord Krsna, you have to associate with them. And who is sadhu? Sadhu is described by Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita - the fact is, sadhu means unalloyed devotee of Krsna
- Those who are meat-eaters, cannot give up meat-eating, for them, the prescription is, Alright, you can eat meat, but you have to sacrifice one goat, but not cow
- Three things there are for knowledge: sadhu, saintly person; sastra, scripture; and guru. If you accept somebody as guru, then you have to corroborate it whether sastra says that he is guru or any saintly person says that he is guru
- Three times you have to take water and taste it. That is called upasprsya. So he (Vyasadeva) did it. Asinah apah upasprsya pranidadhyau manah: then he began to concentrate his mind, meditation. So that is called yoga
- To become completely sinless you have to begin with these four prohibitory injunctions, or avoid sinful activities like illicit sex, meat-eating, smoking, intoxication and gambling
- To become Krsna conscious is not very difficult job. Simply you have to follow the direction. That's all. But if you manufacture your own meaning, commentation on Bhagavad-gita, then you are deviated. You are lost
- To come to this platform of spontaneous attraction, you have to execute some other formulas. What is that? That as you are coming here with some faith, sraddha, or respect, "Here is a temple," so you should come. You should come regularly
- To maintain the social order you have to train some of the sudras to become brahmins, some of the sudras to become ksatriyas. It cannot depend on the sudras. Then there will be chaos
- To obtain spiritual liberation, one must chant the holy name of the Lord, Hare Krsna. So you have to do this
- To perform that yoga, Krsna says, mayy asakta-manah partha yogam yunjan mad-asrayah. One has to take shelter of Krsna. You cannot practice krsna-yoga by taking shelter of anything else. You have to take shelter of Krsna

- To understand Krsna, one requires special senses, special senses, not ordinary senses. Special senses means you have to pluck your eyes and you have to put another eyes? No. You have to purify
- To understand, you have to take the training, spiritual training. You have to understand the words which God wants to let you know about Him. These are spiritual training
- Today you may be proprietor of a big house, big motor car, but after death you don't know, you have to accept a body, and it may be you become a cockroach in the car or in the house. That is not in your hands
- Try to understand the whole philosophy, because you have to preach and you have to confront so many atheist rascals

- Veda means you have to approach acarya. He knows everything - unless he is not followers of the Vedas, sruti, he's a rascal. What is the use of going there
- Vedic knowledge means whatever is beyond the capacity of your senses, that you have to hear from the right source. Tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet (MU 1.2.12). And that is the teaching in the Bhagavad-gita
- Vedic literature is not written at a certain time. It is coming. It is called apauruseya. It is not man-made. So you have to study very scrutinizingly, then you will understand
- Vikarma means it is counteractivity. Activity means you have to work legally. That is activity. If you say that "I am very much active in stealing," then that is not excused
- Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says you have to follow the direction of the spiritual master. He's guiding as a leader. And if he's pleased, that means Krsna is pleased. Yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah

- We are being dictated by the maya and acting and becoming entangled more and more in material energy. And you have to get out from this entanglement by this yoga, or perfect yoga of Krsna consciousness. That is yoga system
- We are busy with the demonic characteristic, dambhah, vimana, darpah, like that. So you can change it. There is no hopelessness. Simply you have to be praticed, that today you are not a singer. But you can become an expert singer if you practice singing
- We are concerned with the laws of God. God may be dead or alive - it doesn't matter. Suppose by law we are prisoners, we are in the prison house, and all of a sudden the president or the king dies. Does it mean you shall be free? No. You have to rot
- We are following in the footsteps of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It is not whimsical. You have to follow the authority in all circumstances
- We are free means you have to make your choice between right and wrong. That is freedom
- We are not propagating the philosophy of ahimsa, or nonviolence, because in some way or other, there is violence, either you take fruit or grain or animal. But the principle is that you have to take prasadam
- We are now accustomed to this miserable condition of life. If you want actual happiness, then you have to undergo austerity, tapasya
- We cannot see if it is beyond our sense perception. How we can worship Him? Therefore you have to take shelter of the spiritual master who has seen Him
- We have created unnecessary problems simply by forgetting Krsna. This is the material nature. Bhave 'smin klisyamananam. Therefore you have to work so hard
- We have given you so many books. Don't sleep. Don't waste a single moment. Of course, you have to sleep. Reduce it as much as possible. Eating, sleeping, mating and defending - reduce it
- We have no quarrel with nonvegetarian or vegetarian. No. Because vegetable has also got life. And in the Bhagavad-gita it is also stated that yajna-sistasinah santo mucyante sarva-kilbisaih (BG 3.13). You have to eat after offering sacrifice
- We have to approach a person who has seen the truth. It is not difficult. Just like if you are suffering from some disease, you have to go to a doctor who knows how to treat. It is same thing, like that
- We have to consider whether the leadership of Lenin is good, or the leadership of Krsna is good. That is another thing. But you have to accept one leader. You cannot do without leader. That is not possible
- We have to discuss so many things, immense field. Go out . . . At least you have to accept that "I am blind." So how you can show others the path? You are blind
- We have to follow the footprints of other authorities. Leadership. In every society they are accepting leadership. So in that way you have to accept authority. There is no other process
- We have to give up this body, willingly or unwillingly. A day will come when you have to submit to the laws of nature and give up this body
- We have to simply think of Krsna. You think in any way. That is your perfection. Smartavyah satatam visnuh. This is the injunction. You have to think of Visnu always. This is samadhi; this is meditation; this is yoga siddhi, perfection of yoga
- We know how to execute the mission of Krsna. Anyone can know because direction is there. It is not a secret thing. It is open secret. But you have to act upon it. That requires training. And so far my experience goes, the whole world will take to KC
- We must consult Bhagavad-gita very regularly, try to understand the problems of life, and the first problem is that you have to change your body
- We must have faith. And we see that many faithful, great acaryas and devotees of the Lord, they achieved success by this faith. Why shall I not follow them? Therefore the Vedic literature says that you have to follow the footprints of great acaryas
- We should not remain in maya. We should remain always in Krsna consciousness. Then our life is successful. Otherwise, we shall continue the life of darkness, uttamam. Udgata. Tama, darkness. You have to pass over this darkness
- We should not think, "Because Krsna is supplying my food, I shall now sleep." No, you have to work, but without fear. You should engage yourself wholeheartedly in Krsna consciousness, confident of Krsna's maintenance and protection
- We try to remain young by cosmetic, but that is not possible. Similarly, we want to live forever. The lady doctor was, "Yes, we can extend little more." Then what? After all, you have to die. Extend little more or little less, you cannot avoid death
- What I am doing alone, now you have to do twelve times; then it will spread. Then each one takes another twelve. Then there will be no space for these rascals to flourish

- You are attracted to something for getting some pleasure. So that pleasure is interrupted because we have posed our attraction in some false things. You have to change that attraction to the real thing, Krsna. Then you'll be happy
- You are becoming old and you do not want to become old; therefore to save yourself, not to become old, you have to surrender
- You are doing duty very nicely. Or a medical man, or a business man, or anyone - everyone has to do something. You cannot sit down idly and you'll get your livelihood. Even if you are a lion you have to work
- You are doing for Krsna. Because if you do not do that, then you don't get your bread also. That is not advised. You have to work for your bread. So Krsna has given you that. You do it, and do it for Krsna, that's all
- You are scientist. You have to teach me. But from which scientist you have learned? So anyone can say something nonsense and become a teacher? Not teacher, but cheater
- You are sitting in the same position and you are thinking that you are making progress. That will fail. You have to come out with enthusiasm. Then it will be successful. That is required

- You cannot be free from service. That's a fact. Either you serve the society or serve your family, serve your country or somebody, somebody, somebody, cats, dogs - you have to serve. That is your position. But this service is confusing, frustrating
- You cannot become a devotee unless you give up sinful activity. Therefore you have to begin by following these four prohibitions
- You cannot by your teeny effort with limited power, limited sense, I mean to say, perception, you cannot speculate. You have to understand from authoritative statements. That is called Veda
- You cannot contact the proprietor directly. There are subordinate officers. Through them you have to take the proprietor's help. The office master is there. You have to satisfy the office master. You cannot directly approach the proprietor
- You cannot create God by imagination. That is not possible. God is God, always. You have to know simply what is God. He is never cyuta
- You cannot develop Krsna consciousness by associating with drunkards and others. No. That is not possible. You have to associate with krsna-bhakta. I've already described the sadhu
- You cannot excel Krsna. You have to be always under Him, even your cheating process. This is Krsna. So take shelter of Krsna and be happy

- You don't try to overlap guru and get Krsna's mercy immediately. That is not possible. That is not possible. You have to go through the proper channel

- You have earned so much millions and billions of money. That's all right. But you have to go empty-handed. The money will remain here. You cannot take that money within the tomb. That is not possible. Then it is zero
- You have given up Krsna's instruction, now you have to suffer. You do not train brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra. So anyone who is in power, he is good. That is Kali-yuga
- You have got some bodily occupation, some mental occupation, some intellectual occupation, but you have to give up all these things. Simply surrender unto Me (Krsna). This is your real occupation
- You have got some false thing, you have to make propaganda to prove it that it is real
- You have got your eyes, but if you want to see, "Where is God? Show me," that is not immediately possible. You have to prepare your eyes to see God. So therefore God's another name is Adhoksaja
- You have never gone to the moon planet, but you learn it from the books, authorized books. Simply you have to consult authorized books, you get learned yourself
- You have no mind to follow austerities, but when you accept a spiritual master, you have to carry out his order. That is austerity
- You have nothing to offer to Krsna. Simply you have to become little intelligent. That's all. Not rascal. If you remain rascal, then your human life is spoiled. If you become little intelligent, then your human life is successful

- You have to accept one chief. But intelligent is that which . . . what kind of leadership we shall accept. That is knowledge
- You have to accept some authority. If you don't accept authority, you speculate. That is your business, but we don't do it. We accept the authority
- You have to accept some tapasya if you want to make solution of the problems of life. Sukadeva Gosvami first recommends tapasya
- You have to accept something. That acceptance is Krsna consciousness. Simply negation will not help you. You must have some positive engagement
- You have to accept that axiomatic truth. It is not dogmatic. It is not dogmatic in this sense: because our predecessor acarya, they accepted. What you are that you are arguing

- You have to act practically for Krsna. That is Krsna consciousness. So everything will remain the same. But when it is done in Krsna consciousness, that means you are making progress, spiritual realization

- You have to admit, that you are conditioned by some authority. When you are put into jail, you cannot act independently. You have to act according to the jail superintendent's order

- You have to avoid sinful activities like illicit sex, meat-eating, gambling, and intoxication, including tobacco, coffee, and tea. Then you'll gradually become completely sinless
- You have to be fully in knowledge how to save yourself from the contamination of the modes of material nature. That is called gata-sangasya muktasya. Then you are free. So that is also stated, how you can become gata-sangasya
