- The devotees first saw Sacimata and took her permission. Then in great happiness they started for Jagannatha Puri, congregationally chanting the holy name of the Lord
- The different types of bodies means that is our punishment. We may think it as happiness, but as soon as you accept a material body, you are subjected to the four principles of material distresses

- The happiness derived from merging in the impersonal Brahman and the happiness derived from the eight perfections of mystic yoga (anima, laghima, prapti and so on) do not give any pleasure to the devotee
- The happiness in the Lord is also identical with the Lord on account of absolute knowledge. So the happiness derived from the Lord may be measured by the Lord, but the happiness increases again, and the Lord measures it again
- The happiness increases more and more, and the Lord measures it more and more, and as such there is eternally a competition between increment and measurement, so much so that the competition is never stopped, but goes on unlimitedly ad infinitum
- The happiness of family life is compared to a drop of water in the desert. No one can be happy in family life

- The living entity is the cause of his own suffering, but he can also be the cause of his eternal happiness

- The mind is always concocting objects for happiness. I am always thinking, "This will make me happy," or "That will make me happy. Happiness is here. Happiness is there." In this way the mind is taking us anywhere and everywhere
- The miseries and mixed happiness of all living beings are only of different degree and quality, but no one is free from the miseries of birth, death, old age and disease
- The mode of goodness conditions one to happiness, passion conditions him to the fruits of action, and ignorance to madness. BG 14.9 - 1972

- There is no need to waste time and energy fighting against distress or working very hard for happiness
- There is no possibility of becoming happy within this material world. The father and the sons are eternal, but if a living entity does not come to the platform of his eternal life of bliss and knowledge, there is no question of happiness
- There is no use trying to counteract them (happiness or distress). The best thing is that one should endeavor to achieve salvation, and this prerogative is given only to man because of his developed condition of mental activities and intelligence

- They (persons who are a little above gross materialists) try to accumulate something for the next life by acts of virtue, just as a man banks some money for future happiness

- This ultimate gain (of achieving permanent happiness and eternal life) is possible to achieve in the human form of life
- Those who are devoted to the cause of the Personality of Godhead live only for the welfare, development and happiness of others. They do not live for any selfish interest
- Those who are materialistic, however, who are very proud of material wealth and have no spiritual knowledge, like the prakrta-sahajiyas, regard their own happiness as the aim of life
- Those who are practicing Krsna consciousness are not in need of the material opulences - wives, children, happiness, home - for all is acquired automatically by the grace of Krsna
- Those who, out of gross ignorance, do not worship the king, who is actually the Supreme Personality of Godhead, experience happiness neither in this world nor in the world after death
- Three kinds of happiness
- Thus the great sages, Sanaka, Sanatana, Sanandana and Sanat-kumara, upon reaching the above-mentioned Vaikuntha in the spiritual world by dint of their mystic yoga performance, perceived unprecedented happiness

- Utsava, the expression of complete happiness, is always present in the Vaikunthalokas, the abode of the Lord, who is worshipable even by demigods like Brahma, to say nothing of other, less important entities such as human beings
V

- We are trying to get happiness and pleasure, but we are trying for them by chewing this material body; therefore there is no happiness and no pleasure
- We fail to measure the sky, but the happiness and liberty obtained in association with the Lord are far greater than the sky. That spiritual happiness is so great that it cannot be measured, even by the Lord Himself, not to speak of others
- We must also know that happiness, unbroken happiness exchanged with the Supreme Person, the Personality of Godhead as described in this verse (SB 2.7.47), transcends the impersonal conception of the Upanisads
- We must engage in Krsna's service every moment of our lives in order to keep the restless and turbulent mind from dragging us from one object to another in a vain search for happiness in the temporary material world
