A
- A devotee cannot execute the order of anyone except the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is the position of a devotee. Hiranyakasipu could understand that this boy (Prahlada) must have been very powerful, since the boy did not heed his orders
- A Vaisnava is especially interested in para-upakara, doing good to others. Prahlada Maharaja was also interested in this
- A Vaisnava like Prahlada Maharaja is described as nirvaira, having no enemies. Elsewhere in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 3.25.21) it is said: a devotee has no enemies, he is peaceful, he abides by the scriptures, and all his characteristics are sublime
- Above Prahlada, the Pandavas are supposedly more advanced. Above the Pandavas are the members of the Yadu dynasty, who are even more advanced
- According to Prahlada Maharaja, the material home is compared to a blind well. If a man falls down into a blind well, it is very difficult to get out of it and begin life again
- After performing the ritualistic ceremonies, take charge of your father's kingdom. Sit upon the throne and do not be disturbed by materialistic activities. Please keep your mind fixed upon Me. Without transgressing the injunctions of the Vedas
- After thus worshiping the saintly person and touching his own head to the saint's lotus feet, Prahlada Maharaja, in order to understand him, inquired very submissively as follows

- Although there are many remedies by which to get out of miserable life, any such remedies in the material world are more miserable than the miseries themselves. Therefore I think that the only remedy is to engage in Your service
- An exalted devotee like Prahlada Maharaja is jivan-mukta; he is liberated even in this very life in the material body

- Arjuna, Prahlada, Janaka Maharaja, Bali Maharaja and many other devotees were not even in the renounced order of life, but were householders. Some of them, such as Prahlada Maharaja and Bali Maharaja, were born of demoniac families
- As a father and mother care for their child, Govinda cared for Prahlada Maharaja, who remained always absorbed in thoughts of Govinda. This is Krsna consciousness. Prahlada Maharaja is the vivid example of perfection in Krsna consciousness
- As a historical example of this, learned sages recite the story of an ancient discussion between Prahlada Maharaja and a great saintly person who was feeding himself like a python
- As for Prahlada Maharaja, he was not at all unhappy, for although he was in the material world, he was full of Krsna consciousness
- As stated by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu in His Siksastaka, the words caksusa pravrsayitam refer to tears falling incessantly from the devotee's eyes. These symptoms, which appear in pure devotional ecstasy, were visible in the body of Prahlada Maharaja
- As such, he (Prahlada) used to shed tears and lie down on the floor as though unconscious
- Asuras generally cannot understand that the objects of sexual pleasure, the so-called pleasure of materialistic life, depend on extremely hard labor. Prahlada Maharaja places this matter to his friends, the asuras, for their consideration
- Atheistic men are very much attached to material enjoyment. Therefore if they get some opportunity to achieve more and more material enjoyment, they take it. Prahlada Maharaja, however, was very careful in this regard

- Bali Maharaja seriously felt that he was an offender to the Supreme Personality of Godhead Certainly Prahlada Maharaja would not like this. Therefore Bali Maharaja was ashamed and hung his head
- Bali Maharaja was the grandson of Prahlada Maharaja. The son of Prahlada Maharaja was Virocana, and his son was known as Bali
- Because Narada, an authorized devotee and great associate of the Personality of Godhead, was desiring auspiciousness for Prahlada Maharaja, he developed all the characteristics of a high-grade devotee
- Because of his (Hiranyakasipu's) mistreatment of such a Vaisnava as Prahlada Maharaja, all the results of his tapasya diminished
- Because of special favor bestowed upon Prahlada Maharaja, he remained silent and unafraid, even though all the demigods, including even Laksmidevi, were afraid of Lord Nrsimha-deva
- Because Prahlada had become a devotee, they considered him to be contaminated by bad intelligence and to be the worst descendant in the family of demons. As it is said, where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise
- Because Prahlada Maharaja was a devotee, the Lord allowed him to enjoy material opulence as the king of the materialists
- Because Prahlada Maharaja was put into very great distress, the Lord appeared
- Because Prahlada Maharaja was situated on the spiritual platform, he had nothing to do with his body, which had been born of the modes of passion and ignorance. The symptoms of passion and ignorance are described in SB (1.2.19) as lust and hankering
- Because Prahlada was Krsna conscious, he was confident that in his next life he was going to Krsna
- Because Prahlada would constantly remain in meditation, he would easily transfer himself to the spiritual world after quitting his material body. Such meditation is still more conveniently performed by chanting and hearing the holy name of the Lord
- Before death comes, as long as we have this human intelligence, let us engage in Krsna consciousness. This is the prescription of Prahlada Maharaja
- Being anxious about the education of his boy Prahlada, Hiranyakasipu was very much dissatisfied. When Prahlada began teaching about devotional service, Hiranyakasipu immediately regarded the teachers as his enemies in the garb of friends
- Being bound by the ropes of Varuna, Bali Maharaja could not offer befitting respect to Prahlada Maharaja as he had before. Rather, he simply offered respectful obeisances with his head, his eyes being inundated with tears and his face lowered in shame
- Being in the disciplic succession of Prahlada Maharaja certainly we are not interested for our personal liberation as much as we want to work for the liberation of the conditioned souls because Krishna desires it
- Blind men may lead many other blind followers without true knowledge of material conditions, but they are not accepted by devotees like Prahlada Maharaja
- By accepting the lotus feet of Prahlada Maharaja, who is in the parampara succession, one will be able to understand the mode of spiritual life. In accepting this mode of activity, there is no need for material qualifications

- Devotees like Prahlada and Dhruva Maharaja achieved extraordinary material opulences, but such opulences were not maya-sukha
- Devotees like Prahlada Maharaja laugh at how foolish they are to be busy in a temporary life without knowledge of the soul's transmigration from one body to another
- Dhruva Maharaja and Prahlada Maharaja were also grhasthas, householders, but they trained themselves in such a way that even as householders they were not faced with interruptions in their service
- Does this (Narada Muni giving shelter to Prahlada's young mother) mean that Narada Muni transgressed the Vedic injunctions? Certainly he did not. Such injunctions are intended for mundane creatures, but Narada Muni is transcendental to mundane categories
- Does this mean that when Prahlada Maharaja was attacked by the demons, the Raksasas, Govinda was also attacked by the demons? This is not possible

- Even if it (prasadam) is spicy to others, taste, it is very palatable to the devotee. What is the question of spicy? He was offered poison, real poison
- Even though a person who has no assets in pious activities performs some good deed, it will have no result. Thus the weapons of the demons had no tangible effects upon Prahlada Maharaja because he was a devotee undisturbed by material conditions
- Even though Prahlada Maharaja was directly offered all the benedictions he might have desired, he refused to accept such offerings from the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Even until now, all the demigods, headed by Lord Brahma, and all the saintly persons could not satisfy the Lord by streams of excellent words, although such persons are very qualified, being in the mode of goodness. Then what is to be said of me?
- Every conditioned soul is under the control of Yamaraja, but Hiranyakasipu said that he considered Prahlada Maharaja his deliverer, for Prahlada would stop Hiranyakasipu's repetition of birth and death
- Everyone has got the potency to become maha-bhagavata, provided he tries. Sadhana-siddha and nitya-siddha. Prahlada Maharaja is nitya-siddha and there are sadhana-siddhas, just like we are
- Everyone should take lessons from Prahlada Maharaja about how we are engaged in so-called temporary happiness through bodily exercises for sense enjoyment
- Everyone will be pleased with him because the Personality of Godhead, the supreme controller of the universe, is always satisfied with a devotee who does not wish for anything beyond Him

- Follow the line laid down by Prahlada Maharaja and try to take every one back to home, back to godhead. And this is done by distributing our literature
- For a small boy to give up playing is impossible, but Prahlada Maharaja, being situated in first-class devotional service, was always absorbed in a trance of Krsna consciousness
- For the common men the form of the Lord as Nrsimhadeva is certainly unseen and wonderful, but for a devotee like Prahlada Maharaja such a fearsome form of the Lord is not at all extraordinary
- For you especially, who always remain within the palace, it's very difficult to associate with a great personality. Dear friend, most gentle one, would you kindly explain how it was possible for you to hear Narada? Kindly dispel our doubts in this regard
- From authoritative scripture it is learned that Prahlada Maharaja still lives in Vaikunthaloka as well as within this material world on the planet Sutala
- From the very beginning of his childhood, Prahlada Maharaja was uninterested in childish playthings. Indeed, he gave them up altogether and remained silent and dull, being fully absorbed in Krsna consciousness

- Haridasa was punished at the hands of the Kazi by being beaten in twenty-two marketplaces. Similarly, Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, and Prahlada Maharaja was put through so many tribulations
- He (a vaisnava) is unhappy by seeing others unhappy. He has personally no unhappiness, but he is para-duhkha-duhkhi. Just like Prahlada Maharaja. All the Vaisnavas, you will see. Just like Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- He (Hiranyakasipu) was the cause of great disturbance to the topmost devotee, Prahlada Maharaja, until Lord Nrsimhadeva killed him
- He (Narada Muni) initiated Prahlada Maharaja, Dhruva Maharaja and many celebrated devotees of the Lord
- He (Prahlada Maharaja) was completely free from unnatural pride that might have arisen from his good education, riches, beauty, aristocracy and so on

- He considered everything material to be useless, and therefore he was completely devoid of material desires. He always controlled his senses and life air, and being of steady intelligence and determination, he subdued all lusty desires
- He was completely cultured as a qualified brahmana, having very good character & being determined to understand the AT. He had full control of his senses and mind. Like the Supersoul, he was kind to every living entity and was the best friend of everyone
- Here (in SB 7.9.39) Prahlada Maharaja represents himself as a common man, although he actually has nothing to do with this material world
- Hiranyakasipu addresses Prahlada, "My dear son, association is very important. It acts just like a crystal-stone which will reflect anything which is put before it"
- Hiranyakasipu and his wife, whose name was Kayadhu, had four sons-Samhlada, Anuhlada, Hlada and Prahlada. They also had one daughter, whose name was Simhika
- Hiranyakasipu condemned his Vaisnava son Prahlada for being durvinita-ungentle, uncivilized, or impudent. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura, however, has derived a meaning from this word durvinita by the mercy of the goddess of learning, Sarasvati
- Hiranyakasipu considered his son Prahlada Maharaja to be the killer of his brother because Prahlada Maharaja was engaged in the devotional service of Lord Visnu
- Hiranyakasipu did not believe Prahlada Maharaja when Prahlada asserted that his Lord is present everywhere
- Hiranyakasipu naturally became increasingly angry that his son Prahlada was being influenced by the camp of the enemies
- Hiranyakasipu replied: You rascal, you are trying to minimize my value, as if you were better than me at controlling the senses. This is over-intelligent. I can therefore understand that you desire to die at my hands
- Hiranyakasipu wanted Prahlada Maharaja to be trained as a diplomatic king in ruling the kingdom, the country or the world, but not to be advised about renunciation or the renounced order of life
- Hiranyakasipu was by nature very cruel, and feeling insulted, he began hissing like a snake trampled upon by someone's foot. His son Prahlada was peaceful, mild and gentle, his senses were under control, and he stood before Hiranyakasipu with folded hands
- Hiranyakasipu was certainly enjoying the fruitful results of his austerities, but the Lord says that as soon as he committed an offense at the lotus feet of Prahlada Maharaja he would be ruined
- Hiranyakasipu was delivered from the darkest region of hellish life, and he returned back home, back to Godhead, by the grace of his son Prahlada
- Hiranyakasipu, when he's captured by Nrsimha-deva, He's death. Kara-kamale nakham adbhuta-srngam dalita hiran . . . immediately. Finished. The same hand on the head of Prahlada Maharaja, "My dear child, be blessed." The same hand. This is the position
- Hiranyakasipu, who by dint of his sinful activities always defied the supremacy of the SPG, entered into the darkest region of hellish life; but by the grace of his great son, Prahlada Maharaja, he also was delivered and went back home, back to Godhead
- His (Prahlada Maharaja's) tall, elegant figure was dressed in yellow garments, he had long arms, and his beautiful eyes were like the petals of a lotus. He was very dear and pleasing to everyone
- His spontaneous devotional service has naturally developed in him. Therefore, please give up your anger and do not unnecessarily accuse us. It is not good to insult a brahmana in this way

- I am the grandson of Maharaja Prahlada. How can I withdraw my promise because of greed for money when I have already said that I shall give this land? How can I behave like an ordinary cheater, especially toward a brahmana?
- I am very glad to learn that you have the Prahlada pictures in your safe custody because I want to print up many small books with text accompanied by illustrations, and the first one may be of Prahlada Maharaja
- I do not fear Your sharp, pinching teeth, Your garland of intestines, Your mane soaked with blood, or Your high, wedgelike ears. Nor do I fear Your tumultuous roaring, which makes elephants flee to distant places, or Your nails
- I do not wish to be liberated alone, leaving aside all these poor fools & rascals. I know that without Krsna consciousness, without taking shelter of Your lotus feet, one cannot be happy. Therefore I wish to bring them back to shelter at Your lotus feet
- I offer my respectful obeisances unto You, Lord Nrsimhadeva. You are the giver of pleasure to Maharaja Prahlada, and Your nails cut the chest of Hiranyakasipu like a chisel cutting stone
- I shall chant Your glories, following exactly in the footsteps of Lord Brahma and his disciplic succession. In this way I shall undoubtedly be able to cross the ocean of nescience
- I think in the same parampara system that the poison administered to our Society will not act if some of our students are as good as Prahlada Maharaja. I have therefore given the administrative power to the Governing Body Commission
- If destiny cannot be changed, then why was Prahlada Maharaja urging this (taking up KC)? Generally, "destiny" means your material future. That you cannot change. But even that can be changed when you are in spiritual life
- If we follow God's instructions we thus become perfect in life. Otherwise one will be knocked down by the waves of the material nature's three modes. This is further explained in Srimad-Bhagavatam (7.5.30) in the words of Prahlada Maharaja
- If you want to show any mercy at all to the living entities, then enlighten them in Krsna consciousness, as Prahlada Maharaja did. Otherwise, it is materially beyond your power to show mercy
- In a society or family in which everyone is a demon, for someone to become a Vaisnava is certainly folly. Prahlada Maharaja was charged with bad intelligence because he was among demons, including his teachers, who were supposedly brahmanas

- In the middle age there is a very strong sex appetite, so another twenty years can be lost (out of hundred years of a person of Kali-yuga). Twenty years, twenty years, and twenty years-sixty years gone. This is the analysis of life by Prahlada Maharaja

- Just as uncontrolled senses are the enemies of all yogis engaged in advancing in spiritual life, this Prahlada, who appears to be a friend, is an enemy because I cannot control him

- Krsna wants to see, just like there is a common word, "If you love me, love my dog." Therefore Prahlada Maharaja requested, Kindly engage me in the service of Your servant
- Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam: (SB 1.3.28) Krsna is the Supreme Lord, the original Lord. Prahlada Maharaja is our guru, and Krsna is our worshipable God
- Kula-bheda-karadhama: by his actions, Prahlada Maharaja made great personalities who established big, big families seem insignificant

- Liberation and material opulence, he thought, are obstacles to devotional service, and therefore such gifts from the Supreme Personality of Godhead are not His actual mercy

- Living entities' real identification is prahlada, blissfulness. But on account of material association, we are in miserable condition of life

- Lord Nrsimha appeared from within the pillar not by the order of the atheist king but by the wish of His devotee Prahlada. An atheist cannot order the Lord to appear, but the Lord will appear anywhere and everywhere to show mercy to His devotee
- Lord Nrsimha-deva appeared for the benefit of all human society, not only for Prahlada's personal benefit
- Lord Nrsimha-deva appeared out of compassion for Prahlada Maharaja
- Lord Nrsimhadeva advised Prahlada Maharaja to engage in his political duties so that people would become the Lord's devotees
- Lord Nrsimhadeva is very dear to this exalted personality. Thus Prahlada Maharaja, along with his servants and all the denizens of Hari-varsa, worships Lord Nrsimhadeva by chanting the following mantra
- Lord Siva reminded the Lord to act like an affectionate father toward Prahlada Maharaja, who was standing by the Lord's side as an exalted, fully surrendered devotee
- Lord Sri Krsna appeared on this planet out of compassion for fallen souls; Lord Buddha appeared out of compassion for the poor animals who were being killed by the demons; Lord Nrsimhadeva appeared out of compassion for Prahlada Maharaja
- Lord Visnu is the axe for cutting down the sandalwood forest of the family of demons, and this Prahlada is the handle for that axe

- Maharaja Pariksit attained the highest perfection, shelter at Lord Krsna's lotus feet, simply by hearing about Lord Visnu. Sukadeva Gosvami attained perfection simply by reciting SB. Prahlada Maharaja attained perfection by remembering the Lord
- Maharaja Prahlada informed his classmates about the all-pervasiveness of the Supreme Lord. But although the Supreme Lord is all-pervasive by means of His expansions and His energies, that does not mean He has lost His personality. That is significant
- Manufacturing many ways of chanting will never be effective. However, chanting the song or the narration left by the previous acaryas extremely effective, and this process is very easy. Therefore here (SB 7.9.48) Prahlada uses the word anjah "easily"
- Materialistic persons are engaged in striving for temporary benefits, whereas persons advanced in spiritual knowledge, such as Prahlada Maharaja, are not interested in the materialistic way of life
- Materialists like Hiranyakasipu and Ravana are worshipers of Lord Brahma or Lord Siva, but Prahlada and other devotees in the service of Krsna consciousness worship the Supreme Lord, the Personality of Godhead
- My dear first-class demon, I think you are asking me what is the best thing. So, in my opinion, everyone is very, very anxious
- My dear King Yudhisthira, all the children were very much affectionate and respectful to Prahlada Maharaja, and because of their tender age they were not so polluted by the instructions and actions of their teachers
- My dear King, although you know everything, you have posed some questions, which I shall try to answer according to what I have learned by hearing from authorities. I cannot remain silent in this regard
- My dear Lord of the Vaikuntha planets, where there is no anxiety, my mind is extremely sinful and lusty, being sometimes so-called happy and sometimes so-called distressed
- My dear Lord, now I have complete experience concerning the worldly opulence, mystic power, longevity and other material pleasures enjoyed by all living entities, from Lord Brahma down to the ant. As powerful time, You destroy them all

- My dear Prahlada, you are very fortunate. Please know from Me that those who are very wise and highly elevated try to please Me in all different modes of mellows, for I am the only person who can fulfill all the desires of everyone
- My dear Yudhisthira, once upon a time Hiranyakasipu, took his son Prahlada on his lap & very affectionately inquired: My dear son, please let me know what you think is the best of all the subjects you have studied from your teachers
- My grandfather, the best of all men, who achieved unlimited knowledge and was worshipable for everyone, was afraid of the common men in this world
- My Lord, who are never conquered by anyone, I am certainly not afraid of Your ferocious mouth and tongue, Your eyes bright like the sun or Your frowning eyebrows
- My mind is full of lamentation and fear, and it always seeks more and more money. Thus it has become most polluted and is never satisfied in topics concerning You. I am therefore most fallen and poor
- My mother has forgotten all those instructions because of the long duration of time that has passed and because of her being a woman and therefore less intelligent; but the great sage Narada blessed me, and therefore I could not forget them

- Narada Muni continued: My dear King Yudhisthira, Hiranyakasipu seated Prahlada Maharaja on his lap and began smelling his head. With affectionate tears gliding down from his eyes and moistening the child's smiling face, he spoke to his son as follows
- Narada Muni continued: When the saintly person was thus questioned by Prahlada Maharaja, the King of the Daityas, he was captivated by this shower of nectarean words, and he replied to the inquisitiveness of Prahlada Maharaja with a smiling face
- Narada Muni is always wandering throughout the universe just to create different types of devotees. Narada even made a hunter a devotee. He also made Dhruva Maharaja and Prahlada devotees
- No one was able to pacify the Lord (Nrsimhadeva) in His anger, but because the Lord was willing to exhibit His affection for Prahlada Maharaja, all the demigods and the others present before the Lord pushed Prahlada Maharaja forward to pacify Him

- O best of the saints among the demigods, O best of spiritual leaders, how did Hiranyakasipu give so much trouble to Prahlada Maharaja, the pure and exalted saint, although Prahlada was his own son? I wish to know about this subject from you
- O brahmana (Narada), O master, I (Yudhisthira) have never heard of such a contradiction as an affectionate father's punishing his noble son with the intention of killing him. Kindly dissipate our doubts in this regard
- O King Yudhisthira, after all the demigods, headed by Lord Brahma, were properly worshiped by Prahlada Maharaja, they offered Prahlada their utmost benedictions and then returned to their respective abodes

- On the maha-prakasa day, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu embraced Haridasa Thakura and informed him that he was none other than an incarnation of Prahlada Maharaja
- On the request of the demigods, Raji killed the demons and thus returned the kingdom of heaven to Lord Indra. But Indra, fearing such demons as Prahlada, returned the kingdom of heaven to Raji and surrendered himself at Raji's lotus feet

- Prahlada arrived at the bank of the Kaveri, where there was a mountain known as Sahya. There he found a great saintly person who was lying on the ground, covered with dirt and dust, but who was deeply spiritually advanced
- Prahlada at once became transcendentally situated & all the symptoms of ecstasy became manifest in his body. His heart filled with love & his eyes with tears & thus he was able to completely capture the lotus feet of the Lord within the core of his heart
- Prahlada has compassion for such people (who are unnecessarily working so hard simply for the gratification of the senses): naitan vihaya krpanan vimumuksa eko. My Lord, I do not need salvation alone. Unless I take all these fools with me, I shall not go

- They (Prahlada's classmates) did not like hearing from their so-called teachers Sanda and Amarka, who were interested only in teaching them about diplomacy, politics, economic development and similar topics meant exclusively for sense gratification
- They (sages who are very interested in their own liberation) think, "Better let me save myself." I (Prahlada) regret that these great saintly persons do not come to the cities where people have manufactured a civilization based on constant hard work

- To give a practical example, Hiranyakasipu was envious of Prahlada Maharaja, but this envy of the devotee was harmful to Hiranyakasipu, not to Prahlada

- Vairocani, Bali, received the mercy of Prahlada, and by Prahlada's mercy he also received the mercy of Lord Visnu, who appeared before him as a brahmacari beggar. Thus Bali became a krpa-siddha because of the special mercy of both guru and Krsna
- Vyasadeva is a disciple of Narada. Prahlada - these are big devotees - he was also disciple of Narada. And Dhruva, he was also disciple of Narada. Valmiki, he was also disciple of Narada. So Narada is the representation of the devotional path of opulence

- You have to take shelter of guru. Adau gurv-asrayam sad-dharma-prccha: "Then you inquire from him about Krsna." Sad-dharma-prccha, sadhu-marganugamanam: "Then follow the footstep of big, big devotees." Just like Prahlada Maharaja
- Your father, Virocana, the son of Maharaja Prahlada, was very affectionate toward brahmanas. Although he knew very well that it was the demigods who had come to him in the dress of brahmanas, at their request he delivered to them the duration of his life
