- A brahmacari is forbidden to see even young girl. Even the spiritual master's wife is young . . . Adau mata guru-patni. There are seven mothers. So real mother, adau mata. Guru-patni, the spiritual master's wife, she is also mother

- Halfway along the path, Raghunatha dasa submitted at the lotus feet of his spiritual master, I shall go to the home of that brahmana, induce him to return, and send him to your home
- Haridasa Thakura was the ideal spiritual master because he regularly chanted on his beads a prescribed number of times. Indeed, he was chanting the holy name of the Lord 300,000 times a day

- Just as a devoted wife becomes afflicted at the passing away of her husband, when a spiritual master passes away, the disciple becomes similarly bereaved

- Life should move in such a way that everyone acts in Krsna consciousness and understands the Supreme Personality of Godhead through the medium of a spiritual master. BG 1972 purports
- Lord Caitanya clearly showed that a sincere student never cares whether his spiritual master is born in a high brahmana family or ksatriya family, or whether he is a sannyasi, brahmacari or whatever
- Lord Caitanya firmly believed in the statements of His spiritual master, and He never neglected the instructions of His spiritual master by stopping His sankirtana movement
- Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu came with this mission of teaching Krsna consciousness, and He said that regardless of one's position, if he teaches Krsna consciousness he is to be considered a spiritual master

- Maharaja Pariksit did not ask his spiritual master, Sukadeva Gosvami, to narrate Lord Krsna's pastimes in Vrndavana; he wanted to hear first about the creation of the Lord

- Mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti. Maya cannot do anything. But if you cheat yourself, cheat your spiritual master, cheat God, then you will be cheated by maya

- O best among the brahmanas (Maitreya), those who are spiritual masters are very kind to the needy. They are always kind to their followers, disciples and sons, and without being asked by them, the spiritual master describes all that is knowledge
- O My sons, you should accept a highly elevated paramahamsa, a spiritually advanced spiritual master. In this way, you should place your faith and love in Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Offerings of natural products such as betel nuts, bananas, newly grown wheat, paddy, yogurt and vermillion, carried by the citizens and scattered throughout the city for receiving a prominent guest like a bridegroom, king or spiritual master
- One birth is by your father and mother, and the other birth is by the spiritual master and Vedic knowledge. That is called second birth. At that time the candidate is given a chance to study and understand what is Veda

- One has to follow the rules & regulations of devotional service as they are set down by the spiritual master; then one can come to the point of spontaneous loving service. This love is already there within the heart of everyone - nitya-siddha krsna-prema
- One has to learn the philosophy of life from the person superior, spiritual master. Tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet (MU 1.2.12). Do not remain puffed-up, that "I am all-learned, I know everything." That is false

- The Lord reveals His identity gradually to one who has unflinching faith, both in the spiritual master and in the Lord. After this, the devotee is endowed with mystic opulences, which are eight in number
- The Lord then replied to the Buddhist disciples, "You should all chant the names of Krsna and Hari very loudly near the ear of your spiritual master"
- The Lord, being full and free from problems, can wholeheartedly care for His devotees. His concern is how to elevate and protect all those who have taken shelter at His feet. The same responsibility is also entrusted to the spiritual master
- The mercy of their lotus feet is my spiritual master, and my words are my disciples, whom I have made dance in various ways

- The rule is that you should go down to live in the hellish planets, because you have been unable to give charity according to your promise. Therefore, in accordance with the order of Sukracarya, your spiritual master, now go down and live there
- The scripture means the statement of liberated holy man. That is sadhu. Therefore, scripture should be tested through the holy man and spiritual master

- The spiritual master can show the path of devotional service
- The spiritual master does not have to say anything beyond that (the spiritual master is he who has captured the words of a particular disciplic succession whatever he has been taught). This is the qualification

- The spiritual master who is fully surrendered unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead and has no business other than the Lord’s service is called the best of the paramahamsas
- The spiritual master's satisfaction is the means of assimilating transcendental knowledge. One cannot understand transcendental knowledge simply by becoming a grammarian
- The spiritual master, by his words, can penetrate into the heart of the suffering person and inject knowledge transcendental, which alone can extinguish the fire of material existence
- The spiritual master, is actually the servitor God. As explained in previous verses, in the absolute world there are no such differences, yet one must observe these differences in order to distinguish the Supreme from His subordinates

- The word vidhivat is significant in this verse (SB 4.22.4). This means that Prthu Maharaja also strictly followed the injunctions of the sastra in receiving a spiritual master, or acarya, of the transcendental disciplic succession
- There are different departments of activity in Krsna consciousness, and a spiritual master, knowing the particular ability of a particular man, trains him in such a way that by his tendency to act he becomes perfect
- There are many injunctions in the Padma Purana which state that a highly elevated spiritually advanced devotee of the Lord is always a first-class devotee and is therefore a spiritual master
- There are many instances wherein the husband becomes the spiritual master. Lord Siva also is the spiritual master of his consort, Parvati

- There is fire, there is spiritual master, there is sastra, there is Krsna - they are all witness. Just like before the high-court judge you promise, - Yes, whatever I'll speak in this court, it is all truth

- There was again a difference of opinion because Prahlada Maharaja wanted to relate the best thing he had learned from his spiritual master, whereas Hiranyakasipu expected to hear about the politics and diplomacy Prahlada had learned from Sanda and Amarka
- Therefore I shall enumerate the chapters of the Adi-lila. In the First Chapter I offer obeisances to the spiritual master, for this is the beginning of auspicious writing
- Therefore if by the grace of Lord Caitanya and the spiritual master a disciple attains the standard of pure devotional service, the spiritual master is very happy
- These are the first qualifications. Then controlling the mind and the senses, simplicity, full knowledge, and practical application of knowledge, and faith in the Vedas and the spiritual master

- Thinking to harm the King, he became the cook at the King's house. One day, the King's spiritual master, Vasistha Muni, was invited for dinner, and the Raksasa cook served him human flesh
- This (disciples of the Buddhists spiritual master acted as his spiritual masters) was possible only because the disciples of the Buddhist acarya received the mercy of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- This being so (Gargamuni being the spiritual master of every human being because he is fully aware of the jyotih-sastra), since you have kindly come to my (Nanda Maharaja's) house, kindly execute the reformatory activities for my two sons - SB 10.8.6
- This combination, the instruction of the spiritual master and the faithful execution of the instruction by the disciple, makes the entire process perfect
- This does not mean, however, that the spiritual master gives a type of mantra through the ears in exchange for some dollars and if the man meditates on that he achieves perfection and becomes God within six months. Such reception through the ears is bogus
- This fact (when Krsna comes as one of us, He is not in actuality "one of us") we must learn by submissive inquiry from authoritative sources, such as Bhagavad-gita or a spiritual master who is fully realized in Krsna consciousness
- This human body is a very nice boat, and we have a very good navigator, the spiritual master. We also have a very favorable wind - the instructions of God. If we don't take this opportunity and solve the problems of life, we are cutting our own throat
- This is acceptance of spiritual master. You don't say: "Oh, I am such a great scholar, and unjustly my spiritual master says that I am fool." Then you lose the connection at once. He is, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is speaking about His own discipleship
- This is confirmed in every scripture, and a disciple should accept the spiritual master as such
- This is the influence of Kali-yuga. One becomes disciple of a spiritual master, then he whimsically disagrees. So why, if you disagree, why should you accept somebody as spiritual master
- This is the job of a spiritual master, to uplift him from ignorance and bring him into knowledge, to bring him out of darkness into light
- This is the mentality of one who is becoming a pure devotee. When one is elevated to the platform of devotional service by the grace of the Lord and the spiritual master, one first regrets his past sinful activities. This helps one advance
- This is the watering: hearing about Krsna, chanting about Krsna. So you take the bhakti-lata-bija from the spiritual master - that is called initiation - and develop it by pouring water of hearing and chanting. Then it will grow
- This mentality (thinking I can become a religious leader) should be sacrificed first, before going to a spiritual master. First of all you have to select who can be your spiritual master. That requires some knowledge
- This statement by the Lord confirms that a person in true Krsna consciousness, engaged in the transcendental loving service of the Lord under the direction of the spiritual master, is never subject to the contamination of material qualities
- This verse (SB 3.25.8) is very instructive, since it indicates the relationship between the spiritual master and the disciple
- Those in the modes of passion and ignorance deride the scriptures, deride the holy man, and deride the proper understanding of the spiritual master, and they do not care for the regulations of the scriptures. BG 1972 purports
- Those who are bringing spiritual master as spiritual matter to be, to be subjected to the experimental knowledge, it is not possible. Experimental knowledge is defective, therefore we have to understand spiritual subject matter
- Those who are too much foolish, the spiritual master orders him, "Don't talk. Please remain silent." That's all. Because if you talk, you'll talk simply nonsense. Why should you spoil your energy by such nonsense talking? Better stop
- Those who are very fond of family life should come forward in the service of the spiritual master and abandon so-called happiness afforded by society, friendship and love
- Those who have been blessed by the spiritual master and the Supreme Lord can easily see through this foolish concept and abstain from futile, time-wasting debates
- Thus Lord Caitanya clearly showed that a sincere student never cares whether his spiritual master is born in a high brahmana family or ksatriya family, or whether he is a high-grade sannyasi, a brahmacari or whatever
- Thus respectable personalities such as His father, mother and spiritual master all take birth on earth first
- Thus the great sage Narada, after hearing from his spiritual master Narayana Rsi, became completely realized
- To be a fool before the Spiritual Master is a very good qualification. It is not a good qualification to be over intelligent before the Spiritual Master
- To Serve the Spiritual Master with Faith and Confidence
- To think of becoming a fool is the real qualification for a bonafide disciple. As soon as one thinks that he has become the wiser man than the spiritual master one is surely doomed

- Under the direction of a bona fide spiritual master, one becomes gradually purified. Therefore, one must be in the chain of disciplic succession and learn the spiritual art of submissive hearing
- Under the guidance of a spiritual master, everyone should chant this mantra (composed by Rama, the goddess of fortune) and thus become a complete and perfect devotee of the Lord
- Understanding of the master begins from understanding of the spiritual master
- Unflinching faith in Krishna and in the Spiritual Master enlightens a devotee in the progressive march of Krishna Consciousness, and keep this attitude, and I am sure Krishna will give you sufficient intelligence to make your life successful
- Unless one is fit according to the estimation of the spiritual master, one cannot accept a mantra from the pancaratrika-vidhi or the vaidika-vidhi
- Unlike professional spiritual masters who accept disciples regardless of their condition, Vaisnavas do not accept such cheap disciples. One must at least agree to abide by the rules and regulations for a disciple before a Vaisnava acarya can accept him
- Until the return of our spiritual master, Sukracarya, arrest this child with the ropes of Varuna so that he will not flee in fear
- Upon becoming fixed in his attachment to the SPG by the grace of the spiritual master and by awakening knowledge and detachment, the living entity, situated within the heart of the body, burns up his material surroundings exactly as fire
- Upon your surrender, the spiritual master and Krishna take responsibility for your sins. So if you commit sin again, the spiritual master becomes responsible for your sinful reaction

- Vedic knowledge is the mother, and the spiritual master is the father
- Vedic knowledge is transcendental and cannot be understood by mundane educational procedures. One can understand the Vedic mantras only by the grace of the Lord and the spiritual master - yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau - SU 6.23
- Vidura accepted Maitreya as his spiritual master
- Vidura wanted to accept Uddhava as his spiritual master, but Uddhava did not accept the post because Vidura was as old as Uddhava's father and Uddhava could not accept him as his disciple, especially when Maitreya was present nearby
- Vidura, during the time of war between the two section, he was traveling in the holy places of pilgrimage and talking with his spiritual master, Maitreya
- Vidura, I have explained to you the PG coming down as the first boar incarnation and killing in a great fight a demon of unprecedented prowess as if he were just a plaything. This has been narrated by me as I heard it from my predecessor spiritual master
- Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura has sung: "I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master. Only by his satisfaction can one please the SPG, and when he is dissatisfied there is only havoc on the path of spiritual realization"
- Vrtrasura was so great and powerful that in effect he was acting as the spiritual master of Indra
- Vyasadeva has taught us by his own conduct that one must have a spiritual master because he is doing the work of an acarya, even though he be God Himself

- We chant "Nitai-Gaura." This is the process. We cannot change this policy. Panca-tattva must be worshiped; otherwise wherefrom we shall get . . .? The spiritual master . . . Nityananda Prabhu is the spiritual master
- We have become guru, spiritual master, not with a false position that, "I have become God." No. We are servant, simply servant, ordinary servant. Just like post peon. Not very high salaried servant. Ordinary, third-class servant
- We have discussed this point, that either brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, especially dvijottama . . . The brahmanas are called dvijottama. Dvija means twice-born, one birth by the father and mother and the other birth by Vedic knowledge and spiritual master
- We must rise early in the morning, bathe, attend mangala-arati, worship the Deities, chant the Hare Krsna mantra, study the Vedic literatures and follow all the rules prescribed by the acaryas and the spiritual master
- We should be very much cautious: "For my sinful actions my spiritual master will suffer, so I'll not commit even a pinch of sinful activities." That is the duty of the disciple. After initiation, all sinful reaction is finished
- We should know that material suffering due to the material body will come and go. Therefore we must tolerate the suffering and proceed with discharging our duty as ordained by our spiritual master
- What are the truths regarding the living entities and the Supreme Personality of Godhead? What are their identities ? What are the specific values in the knowledge in the Vedas, and what are the necessities for the spiritual master and his disciples?
- What is that spiritual master? Simply a red dress like this or having a big beard? No. Samit-panih. Samit-panih srotriyam brahma-nistham. You have to go to a person who is conversant with the science of Krsna. You have to go
- What is the use of calling that I am spiritual master? If you have not accepted him, spiritual master, what is the use? False propaganda
- Whatever is used by Krsna or the spiritual master is worshipable. In particular, their sitting or eating places should not be used by anyone else. A devotee must be very careful to observe this
- When a disciple is serious about making, about making a solution of the suffering, then he requires a spiritual master. And what sort of spiritual master? Krsna, the most perfect man, the most perfect man. So a spiritual master is representative of Krsna
- When a disciple very perfectly makes progress in spiritual life, this gladdens the spiritual master, who then also smiles in ecstasy, thinking, "How successful my disciple has become!"
- When a person goes to the spiritual master, that is his second birth because he is born foolish. Take birth by the combination of father, mother - that is material birth - that is a birth of ignorance, just like animals
- When a president or king is sitting on his throne, he does not need to show respect to everyone who comes within his assembly, but he must show respect to superiors like his spiritual master, brahmanas and Vaisnavas
- When a student hears spiritual subjects attentively, the spiritual master becomes very happy. Kapiladeva was very happy to see His mother eager to understand spiritual subject matters. He therefore thanked His mother for her inquiry

- Yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah: by satisfying the senses of the spiritual master, one can satisfy the senses of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Thus this behavior is not only mentioned in scriptures but also followed by acaryas
- Yei krsna-tattva-vetta sei guru haya (CC Madhya 8.128). Tattva-vetta means one who knows about the science of Krsna. That means fully Krsna conscious. Sei guru haya. Sei means "he." Guru means - spiritual master
- You are chanting, you are, the mantras, because it is not your language, so sometime it appears broken. Just like "guru." Sometimes you say: "goru." Goru means cow, and guru means spiritual master. So the difference of meaning is vast

- You have accepted the importance of the spiritual master for making advancement in spiritual life. Now that you have been formally initiated, you are linked up with all the great Vaishnava acharyas
- You have got a very good ship - this human form of body - & the captain is the spiritual master, & the favorable wind blowing, the instruction of the sastras. So taking this opportunity, if you cross over this material ocean, then there is no difficulty
- You write on the car, "The Spiritual Master of USA." (laughter) And people will see, "Oh, here is the spiritual..." (laughs)
