- He (the Supersoul) lives within all of them (the living entities) and witnesses their actions, allowing them to act according to their desires and also giving them the results of their different activities
- He (the transcendentalist work) never views any activity as an object of enjoyment or renunciation on his own account
- He (Vidura) considered the acts of the external energy to be supreme, yet he also saw how God's internal energy helped him in that particular situation. A devotee is always in a renounced temperament because the worldly attractions can never satisfy him
- He does not have a material body subject to the reactions of previous activities, and He is free from the ignorance of partiality and materialistic education
- He eats all kinds of nonsense and is condemned by his activities of sense enjoyment, If one really wants to progress in life, he must give up the ways of karma-kanda and jnana-kanda, fruitive activities and mental speculation
- He irresponsibly spent his long lifetime transgressing all the rules and regulations of the holy scripture, living extravagantly and eating food prepared by a prostitute. Therefore he is full of sins. He is unclean and is addicted to forbidden activities
- He only gains troublesome and inauspicious activities. His endeavors are like beating a husk that is already devoid of rice. His labor becomes fruitless
- He was proud to see the beauty of the forest due to the rainy season, which was nothing but the manifestation of His own energy. At such times Krsna would praise nature's special activities during the rainy season
- He who has completely surrendered himself in the activities of Krsna consciousness is no longer obliged to anyone, nor is he a debtor to anyone, as one is in the ordinary course of activities. BG 1972 purports
- Hearing - means hearing about someone's activities, form, qualities, entourage, and so on. If I want to hear about someone, he must have some activities
- Hearing and chanting are essential processes for sankirtana. So if someone is hearing us singing on the street, or if he is purchasing one book and if he reads sincerely, these two activities are the same
- Hedonistic activities are the greatest obstructions
- Here (in SB 10.4.5) we see that Devaki first focused Kamsa's attention on his atrocious activities, his killing of her many sons. Then she wanted to compromise with him by saying that whatever he had done was not his fault, but was ordained by destiny
- Here (in SB 3.29.35) the Supreme Personality of Godhead Kapiladeva perfectly explains that the mystic yoga system, consisting of eight different kinds of yoga activities, has to be performed with the aim of coming to the perfectional stage of bhakti-yoga
- Here (in SB 3.32.34-36) it is stated that performance of fruitive activities and sacrifices and distribution of charity are activities meant for persons who are in the householder order of society
- Here (in SB 8.7.44) is an explanation of how those engaged in activities for the welfare of others are very quickly recognized by the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Here (in Srimad-Bhagavatam) ten subjects are described: (1) the creation of the ingredients of the cosmos, (2) the creations of Brahma, (3) the maintenance of the creation, (4) special favor given to the faithful, (5) impetuses for activity
- Here (In the material world) our activities are controlled by different demigods; even if we move our hand and leg, the action is controlled by the demigods
- Here (SB 4.21.51) it is admitted by the citizens of King Prthu; in full consciousness they admit the benefit they have derived from the activities of Maharaja Prthu
- Here are many instances where a dog got salvation by association with a sadhu, because a sadhu engages in the highest philanthropic activities for the benediction of all living entities
- Here you will find the students, although they are not exercising the bodily asana, pranayama, it is automatically being done because the mind is the center of all activities. So mind is always engaged in Krsna. That is bhagavata-dharma
- Higher authorities, not the living entity himself, make this decision (what form of body a man will have in the next life). According to our activities in this life, we either rise or sink. BG 1972 Introduction
- His (a grhamedhi's) activity is to enjoy material benefits by performing religious rituals for economic development and thereby ultimately satisfy the senses. He does not want anything more
- His (Lord Anantadeva's) form is completely spiritual, and He manifests it only by His mercy. All the activities in this material world are conducted only in His form
- His (Pariksit's) activities are also wonderful because he chastised Kali, who was attempting to kill a cow. To kill cows means to end human civilization. He wanted to protect the cow from being killed by the great representative of sin
- His (Vyasadeva's) son was a great devotee, an equibalanced monist, whose mind was always concentrated in monism. He was transcendental to mundane activities, but being unexposed, he appeared like an ignorant person
- His Divine Grace wanted this mission to be fructified during His presence but He was so much disappointed in the last days of His life for many of His follower's indisciplinary activities
- His remembrance by His form, quality, name, fame, pastimes, etc., is also attractive for the pure devotee, so much so that he forgets all forms, quality, name, fame and activities of the mundane world
- His younger brother, Hiranyaksa, was always ready to satisfy his elder brother by his activities. Hiranyaksa took a club on his shoulder and traveled all over the universe with a fighting spirit just to satisfy Hiranyakasipu
- Householders cannot undergo strict disciplinary activities of austerity, therefore for every householder the path of Arcana Siddhi is very much recommended
- How many causes are responsible for manifesting the various results of activities performed under the three modes of material nature (sattva-guna, rajo-guna and tamo-guna)?
- How much a devotee has been favored by the Supreme Personality of Godhead can be tested by the activities the devotee has performed
- How then could we keep this boy home by binding him with ropes? It is not possible even for one's father to nullify the reactions of one's past activities
- How wonderful it is that these women have attained such perfection, while we, although brahmanas who have performed all the reformatory activities, cannot attain to this advanced stage
- However powerful she (the material energy) may be, has no power by herself. Her activity begins by the grace of the Lord, and then the entire cosmic creation is manifested in a systematic way
- Human activities should be dovetailed for going back to home, back to Godhead. That is spiritual movement
- Human civilization and all activities thereof must be dovetailed with the supreme blessing of the Lord, and without this blessing all advancement of human civilization is like decoration on a dead body
- Human form of life, nobody is interested to know about the philosophy of the life, value of life. They have become so frivolous. In this evening, everyone is engaged in childish activities, but nobody is interested in the real problem of life
- Human life is meant for controlling the senses, for uncontrolled senses are the cause of material bondage. But for fools sense enjoyment is the pivot of life's activities
- Human life is meant for yajna, sacrifice for the satisfaction of the Supreme Person. We may perfect our activities, but our success lies in satisfying Krsna by our talents
I
- I (Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami) offer my respectful obeisances to Sri Advaita Acarya, whose activities are all wonderful. By His mercy, even a foolish person can describe His characteristics
- I (Sukadeva Gosvami) shall describe the uncommon activities He (Lord Vamanadeva) performed, His qualities, His power and how He took birth from the womb of Aditi
- I am depending on you to carry out so many of my activities, but you have given up your governmental duties to sit here at home
- I am glad that you are doing nicely in Krishna consciousness, and that you are reading my books and preaching. Tamal Krishna Goswami also gave me a good report of your activities
- I am glad to hear you are holding a larger Ratha yatra this year. Your multifarious activities in Krsna Consciousness in Philadelphia sound very good
- I am hearing from the newspapers that in India there is some upheaval on the ground of political activities. I have also heard that you are observing "fast" and it has given me some concern
- I am not exercising myself. I am an old man of seventy-two years. I was ill, I went back to India; but I want to work. Actually, I could retire from all these activities, but as far as I can, I want to work; I want to learn day and night
- I am pleased to note your attitude regarding business. Our policy is nirbandhe krishna sambandha: We shall accept all kinds of civil activities, including business, trade, industry, only in connection with Krishna
- I am very much anxious that at the same time as you carry out all these outside activities you are maintaining a strict schedule of Temple activities
- I have already informed Tamal Krishna that the Los Angeles temple may be called upon to give this loan. So try for it, because such a nice church will be a tremendous boon to our Seattle propaganda activities
- I have not received any word from you. I hope everything is going on well with you in our Los Angeles World Headquarters. Please send me a report of your general activities in Los Angeles Temple and also your Governing Body Commission activities
- I may have many activities. But my identity is that I am eternal servant of God. So if I love myself, because I am eternal servant of God, therefore, if I actually I love myself, I must always engage myself in the service of the Lord. This is love
- I said, 'Your Majesty, I am now not willing to engage in political activities. I desire only to stay at the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Kindly give me permission'
- I shall now try to relate the activities of the descendants of Priyavrata, the second son of Svayambhuva Manu. Please hear them attentively
- I take shelter of Him only, because He can give me relief from all fear and from Him I have received this condition of life, which is just befitting my impious activities
- I think of you very often that you are a most ideal devotee wife. Your husband is working very hard and nicely in KC, and when the husband is executing his activities very nicely it is credit not only to the husband, but it is a credit to his wife also
- I was being carried away by the waves of material nature's laws because of insatiable material desires, and thus I was engaging in different activities, struggling for existence in various forms of life
- I was thinking of opening a branch in Bombay of this International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and if you cooperate, we can attempt this important activity
- I'm claiming it is my hand: "I shall give you a good fist on your . . ." I'm very much proud. But I am not controller. The controller is Krsna. If He withdraws the power of the activity of your arm, you become paralyzed
- If a brahmacari does not live under the care of the guru, if a vanaprastha engages in ordinary activities, or if a sannyasi is greedy and eats meat, eggs and all kinds of nonsense for the satisfaction of his tongue, he is a cheater
- If a human being follows the activities of the animals and does not avail himself of his ability to elevate his consciousness, he falls down the human scale and prepares for an animal body in his next life
- If a human being is born in an aristocratic family or a higher status of life, if he performs wonderful activities, if he is youthful, it is to be understood that he is especially favored by the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- If a karmi performs auspicious acts he is elevated to the heavenly planets, and if he acts impiously he is put into a hellish condition
- If a limb refuses to execute its usual duty, it becomes useless to the body. Similarly, if our activities are not focused on Lord Krsna, they are rendered impotent and valueless
- If a living entity takes to those ritualistic activities by which pure devotional service to the Lord is developed in the association of pure devotees, then one's mind naturally becomes attracted to devotional service
- If a person does not engage in the service of the Lord, all inauspicious activities encumber him because service to the Supreme Lord, Lord Caitanya, is the constitutional position of the infinitesimal living entities
- If a person is in the mode of goodness, his mental activities will promote him to a higher planetary system. Similarly, if he has a low mentality, his future life will be most abominable
- If a person overly addicted to family life takes to Srimad-Bhagavatam or Krsna consciousness to earn a livelihood, his activity is certainly offensive
- If a venomous serpent is bereft of its poison fangs, it is no longer fearful. Similarly, if the senses are engaged in the service of the Lord, there is no need to fear their activities
- If activities are performed for personal satisfaction one is involved in pasanda or atheism but when they are performed for the satisfaction of God, one is following the Vedic principle. All the assembled sages performed sacrifices for one thousand years
- If all philanthropic and humanitarian activities were directed toward achieving the ultimate goal of life - to please the Supreme Personality of Godhead - they would all be perfect. Humanitarian work without Krsna is nothing
- If by karma, by our activities, we are fit for taking birth in a good family, then I will get my birth in good family or in the human society or demigod society. But if my activities are lower grade, then I will have to take birth in the animal family
- If by karma-kanda activities one by chance comes in contact with a devotee, as Vaidarbhi did when she married Malayadhvaja, his life becomes successful. He then pursues the devotional service of the Lord
- If by our karma, or activities, we are fit to take birth in a good family in human or demigod society, we shall do so, but if our activities are low like those of animals, we shall have to take birth in a family of animals. That is the force of karma
- If by rising early in the morning one can advance his transcendental Krsna consciousness, one should not desist out of fear or because such activities are considered troublesome. Such renunciation is in the mode of passion. BG 1972 purports
- If by working one can engage his money in Krsna consciousness, or if by rising early in the morning one can advance his transcendental KC, one should not desist out of fear or because such activities are considered troublesome. BG 1972 purports
- If he (a demoniac person) has an enemy who might check the advancement of his sensual activities, he makes plans to cut him down by his own power. BG 1972 purports
- If he is the Supreme God, then how is it that he has been overtaken by impious activities and thereby subjected to the tribulations of the law of karma? When the Mayavadis are asked about this, they cannot properly answer
- If I am in the mode of passion then I shall remain here in a society where activity is very prominent
- If in all his activities a person strictly adheres to the mode of goodness, he will certainly develop his dormant Krsna consciousness and ultimately become a pure devotee of Lord Krsna
- If irreligious people vote on an issue, even though it be against the principles of the sastras, the bills will be passed. The president and heads of state become sinful by agreeing to such abominable activities - meat-eating and intoxication
- If it were not possible in this lifetime to gain Krsna's favor by these activities, she (Rukmini) was prepared to die from such austerities and to undergo similar difficulties lifetime after lifetime
- If Maharaja Priyavrata could condemn himself in spite of his wonderful activities, how condemned we are in our so-called advancement of material civilization
- If merely by such activities (distribute foodstuffs) people will be benefited. Suppose there were no food grain. How would the rich men distribute food
- If my activities are lower grade like animals, then I will have to take birth in the animal family
- If one acts in his profession according to his position in the modes of nature and gradually gives up these activities, he attains the niskama stage
- If one actually has the seed of transcendental emotion in his heart, the symptoms will be visible in his activities. That is the verdict of all revealed scriptures
- If one becomes a devotee of Gaurasundara or Krsna but does not give importance to the Panca-tattva, his activities are considered to be offenses, or, in the words of Srila Rupa Gosvami, utpata (disturbances)
- If one becomes attracted simply to ritualistic activities without understanding Krsna, his activities are unfavorable to Krsna consciousness
- If one becomes Brahman, he must show his activities in Brahman. Spirit is active, and to become Brahman is not to become inactive. Brahman is spirit, and these material bodies are active only because Brahman is within them
- If one becomes very rich through his professional activities, through trade or through agriculture, this does not mean that he is spiritually advanced. To be spiritually advanced is different from being materially rich
- If one can restrain the demands of the tongue by limiting its activities to the eating of prasada, the urges of the belly and the genitals can automatically be controlled
- If one cannot sacrifice the results of his activities, the same person can still sacrifice some percentage to propagate Krsna consciousness
- If one commits criminal activities, the state will punish him. Sometimes, however, a criminal may escape punishment by the state, but this is not the case with God's law
- If one does not act for the satisfaction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or if one does not perform devotional service, then there will be reactions to all one's activities
- If one does not conduct research to find the supreme cause, but instead falsely engages in frivolous, temporary activities, what is the use of demanding recognition as an important scientist or philosopher?
- If one does whatever Krsna says, his activities are not material. For example, when Arjuna fought in response to the order of Krsna, his activities were not material
- If one gradually gives up his hereditary customs and duties and tries to serve the SP of Godhead in his natural position, he is gradually able to become free from these activities, and he attains the stage of niskama, freedom from material desires
- If one has faith he is firmly convinced that simply by rendering devotional service to Lord Krsna all other activities are automatically performed - including ritualistic duties, sacrifices, yoga and the speculative pursuit of knowledge
- If one indulges in illicit sexual relations with another man's wife, that activity is considered identical with having sex with one's mother. This act is most sinful
- If one is actually educated in Vedic knowledge, is famous for performing prescribed activities and has been born in a great aristocratic family, why should he be called a demon
- If one is advanced in Krsna consciousness, material activities, both sinful and pious, automatically become distasteful to him. That is the test of Krsna consciousness. Both pious and impious activities are actually due to ignorance
- If one is an offender at the lotus feet of a brahmana or Vaisnava, his offenses uproot all his auspicious activities. One should very carefully guard against committing vaisnava-aparadha, or offenses at the lotus feet of a Vaisnava
- If one is convinced that devotional service to the Lord includes everything, no other activity is required
- If one is deluded by such a conception (that the interaction of fruitive activities can be counteracted by another karma, or fruitive activity), he is cheated by his own activity. Such activities have been compared to an elephant's bathing
- If one is empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead to do something, the core of his heart becomes a dhama, and thus he becomes so extraordinarily powerful that not only his enemies but also people in general are astonished to observe his activities
- If one is misled by unwanted creepers and is victimized, he cannot make progress back to Godhead. Rather, he remains within the material world and engages in activities having nothing to do with pure devotional service
- If one is not interested in satisfying Lord Visnu, Vasudeva, all his so-called auspicious activities are fruitless
- If one is not liberated and listens to a relation of the rasa dance, he may remember his own mundane activities and illicit connections with some woman whose name may also be Radha
- If one is not responsible for his activities, then he is sure to get a hellish life
- If one lives a family life following in the footsteps of Lord Krsna's family members, one can achieve all four of these principles of success simultaneously by making Krsna the center of all activities
- If one performs activities for the satisfaction of the Supreme Personality, the yajna-purusa, his work does not produce reactions, whereas karmis, who act for themselves, are bound by the reactions of their work
- If one suffers due to his past fruitive activities, he cannot counteract his suffering by performing auspicious activities
- If one thinks that the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the names and activities of the demigods are on the same level, or if one accepts the holy name of Visnu to be a material sound vibration, that is also an offense
- If one wants success in everything, one must be backed by these three principles - knowledge, strength and activity
- If one wishes to perfect his initiation, he must first undergo the purascarya activities
- If one works in this way (not expecting results of his activities), then he is actually a sannyasi; he is in the renounced order of life
- If one's dreams during sleep are merely subject matters witnessed by the Supersoul, how can the living entity, who is different from the Supersoul, remember the activities of dreams? The experiences of one person cannot be understood by another
- If one's mind is fixed on Krsna (His name, qualities, form, pastimes, entourage and paraphernalia), all one's activities - both subtle and gross - become favorable - CC Preface
- If one's mind is fixed on Krsna (His name, quality, form, pastimes, entourage and paraphernalia), all one's activities - both subtle and gross - become favorable
- If out of frustration we (living entities) try to become inactive, we shall fail in our attempt. We must engage in activities
- If people are simply paid to be Krsna conscious, then the state will save so much expense. Because they have to maintain huge establishment to stop criminal activities
- If semen is not discharged unnecessarily, one becomes extremely strong in memory, determination, activity and the vitality of one's bodily energy
- If the devotee has faith in the strength of this order, he worships Lord Krsna and gives up all other activities
- If the different castes or social sections, although apparently differently occupied in different activities, nevertheless act in full cooperation, then the Lord is pleased. This is the idea of the institution of four varnas and four asramas
- If the human body and the material creation are used for the service of the Supreme Lord, their activities are never false
- If the husband is progressive in spiritual advancement, the wife undoubtedly shares in his activities, and thus both the wife and the husband profit in spiritual perfection
- If the leader is a sinful man and doing all impious activities, then how you can expect the citizens to be all good and pious? It is not possible
- If the Lord is sitting in the hearts of nondevotees, why are they not moved to become devotees? It may be answered that the stubborn nondevotees are like the barren land or alkaline field, where no agricultural activities can be successful
- If the members of human society do not understand Him, the Supreme, through their advancement in knowledge and activities, but simply work very hard like cats and dogs all day & night for temporary happiness, what will be the benefit of their activities?
- If there is a superior person present, the superior person cannot be the object of our mercy. Rather, we are objects for the mercy of the superior person. Therefore showing compassion and mercy is a relative activity
- If there is no Krsna consciousness, any kind of activity, be it philanthropic, political or social, simply causes karma-bandhana, bondage to material work
- If there was no consciousness either in you or I, then I could not chant, neither you could hear, or neither you could chant, neither I could hear. So therefore the position of the consciousness is activity
- If things are to go on as they ought to, how can a head of state be indifferent to such activities (indifference to the activities of the material world)? In answer to this question, the word sreyah, auspicious, is used here - SB 4.20.14
- If we are in Krsna consciousness, even if we are in the midst of mayic activities, it will not affect. So everything is there, but if you change your consciousness, then you are safe
- If we at all want our activities to he auspicious, then we should work under the directions of the Supreme Lord. Such directions are given in authoritative scriptures such as Srimad-Bhagavatam & BG, or from a bona fide spiritual master. BG 1972 purports
- If we do not act to satisfy the Supreme Lord, we engage in maya's activities
- If we keep our minds always absorbed in fruitive activities for material enjoyment, naturally at the time of death we shall think of such activities and again be forced to enter material, conditioned bodies to suffer the threefold miseries
- If we simply become inactive out of frustration, then it will be failure. We must engage with activities. That activity is devotional service. This is Brahman activity. The Mayavadis, they do not know
- If we simply regard the lotus feet of Krsna as our ultimate shelter, we shall be saved from all these waves of maya, which are variously exhibited as mental and sensual activities and the agitation of rejection and acceptance
- If you are always remembering Him by your activities and seeing Krishna everywhere, even in the heart of the demonic persons
- If you engage yourself full time in preaching then there won't be any other time for these other activities. You should approach the other Vaisnavas in a very humble state of mind
- If you have committed a murder, then you also be hanged. These are the laws. When the king orders somebody to be hanged on account of his committing murder, the king is not sinful. King is helping that rascal to atone his murdering activities
- If you have to attempt anything for real progress, then this is real progress. What is that? To know the Supreme Absolute Truth, which is manipulating all activities
- If you perform such activities again, I shall not be tolerant. At that time I shall kill you, your entire family and all the meat-eaters
- If you simply engage yourself in activities of Krsna consciousness, then automatically your activities in maya become silent
- If you stick to this point (rejecting false ahankara identification), and continue - just as you might continue your activities and keep your temperature at 98.6 degrees - then you are a healthy man
- If you take foodstuff from impious men, then that means you are taking share of his impious activities
- If you want to get out of the maya's activities, prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani, then you have to take to Krsna consciousness. There is no way out
- If you waste time in foolish activity, then there will be anxiety, there will be disease, there will be enemies, there will be disturbance. Natural disturbance, disturbance by other living creatures, disturbance by your body. This world will become hell
- If you waste your time in foolish activity, then there will be anxiety, there will be disease, there will be enemies. Natural disturbance, disturbance by other living creatures, disturbance by your body. So this world will become hell
- If, by this process (chanting Hare Krsna), we can kindle the fire of knowledge, all of the reactions of our activities will be reduced to ashes, and we will be purified
- If, due to some righteous activities which provoke devotional service, one is influenced by the service attitude and takes shelter of the good association of pure devotees, he develops attachment for hearing and chanting
- If, while performing any activity, even in material existence, one's mind is fixed upon the lotus feet of the Personality of Godhead, one will not be entangled or conditioned
- Immortality is obtained only by those who return to Godhead by practice of anti-material activities
- Impersonal speculation, monism , speculative knowledge, mystic yoga and meditation are all compared to grains of sand. They simply cause irritation to the heart. No one can satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead by such activities
- Impure activities cannot lead me to spiritual emancipation
- In a machine all the parts may be iron, but the machine includes varied activities. Although the whole machine is iron, one part works in one way, and other parts work in other ways
- In addition to these nineteen sons, there were eighty-one younger ones, all born of Rsabhadeva and Jayanti. According to the order of their father, they became well cultured, well behaved, very pure in their activities and expert in Vedic knowledge
- In all activities just depend upon Me and work always under My protection. In such devotional service, be fully conscious of Me. BG 18.57 - 1972
- In all activities they (men of passionate intelligence) simply take the wrong path; therefore their intelligence is in the mode of passion. BG 1972 purports

- In all the activities associated with lusty desires, Lord Siva is an implement of atma-rama. Ordinary persons, therefore, should not try to understand Lord Siva and his activities. One who tries to criticize the activities of Lord Siva is shameless
- In Bhagavad-gita (BG 4.14), it is said that the Lord has nothing to do with the activities in which He is supposedly engaged
- In Bhagavad-gita (BG 9.27), the Lord demands that whatever one may do in one's daily activities, such as worship, sacrifice, and offering charity, all the results should be offered to Him only
- In Bhagavad-gita five principal subject matters have been discussed: the Supreme Personality of Godhead, material nature, the living entities, eternal time and all kinds of activities. All of these are dependant on the SP of Godhead, Krsna. BG 1972 pur
- In Bhagavad-gita it is also said that the Lord impregnates the material energy with the part-and-parcel jivas, and thus the different forms and different activities immediately ensue
- In Bhagavad-gita Krsna admits that it is He only who superintends the creative energy, the sum total of matter. Thus Vyasadeva neither worships Brahma nor the sun but the Supreme Lord, who guides both Brahma and the sun in their creative activities
- In Bhagavad-gita such activities (working in big factories) are described as ugra-karma, that is, distressful activities
- In Bhagavad-gita the Lord asks everyone to give up all other occupational duties and absolutely engage in arcana activities, or in pleasing the Lord
- In Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krsna states that it is He only who superintends the creative energy, prakrti, which constitutes the totality of matter. Therefore, Sri Vyasadeva does not worship Brahma, but the SL, who guides Brahma in his creative activities
- In BRS it is said that one should be very liberal in behavior and should avoid any undesirable activities. The most important affirmative points are that one should accept the shelter of a bona fide spiritual master, be initiated by him and serve him
- In consideration of these two kinds of activities, there are two kinds of people, who have different symptoms. If one wants to see two kinds of activities in one person, that is contradictory
- In contrast, the process of renouncing the results of one’s activities by offering these results to Krsna is not considered uncontaminated, because, although such a process implies that one recognizes Krsna as the Supreme Person
- In essence the grhastha should be engaged in occupational duties advised by the spiritual master and sastra. Specifically a grhastha should engage in agricultural activities to earn money
- In fear, the members of these orders all worship the Supreme Lord by offering Him presentations according to their respective activities
- In hopes of achieving naiskarmya, freedom from material action, many highly elevated sannyasis stopped their activities, yet they failed and returned to the material platform to act as materialistic persons
- In India the Brahmacaris are meant for begging from door to door for the Spiritual Master. But in your country this activity is not allowed
- In modern civilization, sex life is the focal point for all activities. Wherever one turns his face, he sees sex life predominant
- In modern human civilization, sex is the central point of all activities; indeed, wherever we turn our face we see sex life prominent. Consequently sex life is not unreal; its true reality is experienced in the spiritual world
- In normal conditions, in the absence of danger, O Yudhisthira, a man should perform his prescribed activities according to his status of life with the things, endeavors, process and living place that are not forbidden for him, and not by any other means
- In one case we are acting according to our own whims, & in the other we are acting under the direction of the government. Similarly, when we act under direction of Krsna, our actions performed are called akarma, for that kind of activity has no reaction
- In order to keep the purity of such Krsna conscious activities, one must be freed from all material desires and philosophical speculation
- In order to regulate the activities of the living entities, God has given us codes, just as a king gives codes of law in a state, and whoever breaks the law is punished
- In order to stop all such activities (of worshiping the demigods) by His devotees, Krsna wanted to firmly establish exclusive devotional service during His presence in Vrndavana
- In order to wake the sleeping Deity-controller within, one has to rechannel the sense activities from concentration on the outside to concentration inside
- In other temples he (the European gentleman) saw the deity engaged in similar activities (as he saw in the previous temple of Goddess Kali), but when he came to the Radha-Krsna temple, he said - I find that in this temple there is God
- In other words, by the grace of Krsna, religious principles were so well cared for that hardly any irreligious activities could be found
- In other words, none of his (Maharaja Prthu) activities were carried out for his own sense gratification; everything he did was meant for the satisfaction of the senses of the Lord
- In other words, such behavior (jubilant activities) between pure males and females is enjoyable, but it makes persons who are materially contaminated become lustful
- In our conditional state, our senses are engaged in serving these bodily demands. When the same senses are engaged in executing the order of Krsna, our activities are called bhakti
- In our grossly materialistic way, we cannot conceive how the Supreme Person is above the impersonal activities of material nature
- In our Krsna consciousness movement we therefore give special stress to the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra in all activities
- In our mental activities we should always try to think of Krsna and try to plan how to please Him, following in the footsteps of the great acaryas and the personal spiritual master
- In our practical life, Krsna instructs us how to invoke Krsna consciousness. It is not that we are to stop executing our duty or to cease from activity. Rather, activities have to be conducted in Krsna consciousness
- In perfect human society, people are situated in the orders of varna and asrama and are engaged in worshiping Lord Visnu by their respective activities
- In performing his prescribed duties as king, Maharaja Ambarisa always offered the results of his royal activities to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, who is the enjoyer of everything and is beyond the perception of material senses
- In politics or sociology or humanitarian activities, there is partiality for a certain section of human being, or certain section of living beings. But this chanting of Hare Krsna mantra, awakening dormant KC, is meant for all living entities
- In prema-vilasa there are two kinds of emotional activities - separation and meeting. That transcendental separation is so acute that it is actually more ecstatic than meeting
- In pure consciousness the activity is one
- In pure consciousness, our actions will be dovetailed to the will of isvara & that will make us happy. It is not that we have to cease all activities. Rather, our activities are to be purified & purified activities are called bhakti. BG 1972 Introduction
- In pursuit of false activities, a human being is in the clutches of maya, or illusion
- In Sanskrit, these activities are called pravrtti and nivrtti-positive and negative action. There are many examples of negative action. For instance, a diseased person has to be cautious and take medicine in order to avoid some unfavorable illness
- In some temples there are Deities but no discussion about Krsna. People attend for some time, but after a while they lose interest. Thus there must be two activities
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.8) it is also said: If one executes the occupational duties of varnasrama-dharma but does not cultivate his dormant Krsna consciousness, his activities are futile. His occupation simply becomes unnecessary labor
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 5.5.4) it is said: A materialistic person, madly engaged in activities for sense enjoyment, does not know that he is entangling himself in repeated birth and death and that his body, although temporary, is full of miseries
- In that exchange of service (between the devotee and God) there are many transcendental transactions, which are called transcendental qualitative activities
- In that pure state (kaivalya), by hearing, chanting, remembering, etc. because of the development of knowledge of the science of Krsna, one can understand the Supreme. All these activities are under the guidance of the internal energy of the Supreme Lord
- In the association of such a sadhu as Jada Bharata, Maharaja Rahugana came to the awareness that his activities as a royal authority were simply illusory phenomena
- In the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is made clear that the Supreme Truth is eternally uncontaminated by material touch. There is no jugglery of words and activities in the transcendental kingdom of the Lord
- In the beginning of the Fifteenth Chapter (of BG), the banyan tree of this material world was explained. The extra roots coming out of it were compared to the activities of the living entities, some auspicious, some inauspicious. BG 1972 purports
- In the beginning, Maitreya Rsi narrated the activities of the sons of Pracinabarhi. These sons went beside a great lake, which was like an ocean and fortunately finding Lord Siva, they learned how to satisfy the SPG by chanting the songs composed by Siva
- In the Bhagavad-gita (BG 18.5), Krsna clearly states that sacrifice, charity, and penance are never to be given up by a transcendentalist. If he is at all intelligent he must continue these three activities, even if he is highly elevated
- In the Bhagavad-gita it is clearly explained that there are three kinds of activities according to the different modes of nature: the activities of goodness, of passion and of ignorance. BG 1972 Introduction
- In the Bhagavad-gita the Lord says that His appearance, birth and activities are all transcendental and that one who understands them factually becomes immediately eligible to be transferred to the spiritual world
- In the Bhagavad-gita, five important factors of knowledge have been delineated pertaining to (1) the Supreme Lord, (2) the living being, (3) nature, (4) time and space and (5) the process of activity
- In the Bhagavatam, the cause of anxiety over the result of an activity is explained as being due to one's functioning in the conception of duality, that is, without knowledge of the Absolute Truth. BG 1972 purports
- In the Bhagavatam, the cause of anxiety over the result of an activity is explained as being one's functioning in the conception of duality, that is, without knowledge of the Absolute Truth
- In the Bhakti-Rasamrita-Sindhu it is enjoined by Srila Rupa Goswami that any work, either prescribed in the Vedas or ordinary mundane activities, if the target is to satisfy Krishna, then everything is devotional service
- In the Brhad-vaisnava mantra it is clearly stated that one who considers the body of Krsna to be material should be driven out from all rituals and activities of the sruti. BG 1972 purports
- In the Caitanya Caritamrta it is said that the activities of the Vaisnava cannot be understood even by the greatest scholar. So we have to understand everything through the transparent via media of the Spiritual Master
- In the conditioned state the mind is always engaged in activity impelled by the three modes of the material world, but in the transcendental stage, the material modes cannot disturb the mind of the devotee
- In the conditioned state, sometimes devotional service and the conditional service in relation to the body will parallel one another. But then again, sometimes these activities become opposed to one another. BG 1972 purports
- In the devotional service of the Lord, therefore, these prescribed activities (fixing mind on the lotus feet of the Lord by constant remembrance) are called arcana, or engaging all the senses in the service of the Lord. BG 1972 purports
- In the execution of akarmic activities, there may appear to be some reactions, but in actuality there are not. When we work under the directions of Krsna, this is actually the case - there are no reactions
- In the execution of different activities, one who secures some resources in bhakti-yoga can understand the importance of service to the Lord through the causeless mercy of the Lord, as well as that of the spiritual master
- In the eyes of a devotee, politicians, social workers, philanthropists, philosophers and humanitarians are simply wasting their time, for human society is not freed from the cycle of birth and death by their activity and propaganda
- In the family combination of a man and a woman there is much labor and responsibility for both of them, yet when they are single they feel more trouble for want of their united activities
- In the field of nescience, activities are directed toward lording it over the creation. In the material world everyone is engaged in acquiring material opulence to lord it over the material world
- In the human form of life one should perform activities in such a way that at the end he goes back home, back to Godhead. This is self-realization
- In the human form of life, because of developed consciousness (cetanam), one can be transferred from ignorance and passion to goodness by the results of his activities
- In the human society there should be divisions of work. The activities for the most intellectual person, that should be a division. That is called brahmana division
- In the impersonal Brahman conception, there is no activity, yet when one performs activities in connection with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he is to be known as brahmacari
- In the life of a materialist, activity means working in lust and greed. However, when he comes to his senses, he wants to retire. According to Vedic civilization, such retirement is positively recommended, and this portion of life is called vanaprastha
- In the material world everyone is engaged in the illusory activities of inferior energy, but when one is given the opportunity to relish the activities of the superior energy performed by Krsna, then he forgets all his lesser pleasures
- In the material world everyone is very active in earning more and more money and in increasing eating and sleeping and gratifying the senses; such is the mission of most people's lives. But these activities should be absent from the life of a devotee
- In the material world the activities of the mind are acceptance and rejection
- In the material world, all distresses are due to extravagance. One acquires money extravagantly and also spends it extravagantly. Such activities are sinful
- In the material world, such activities (the path of knowledge, mystic yoga and renunciation) end in material enjoyment or merging into the effulgence of the Supreme. They have nothing to do with the eternal loving service of the Lord
- In the material world, the center of all activities is sex, and thus this material world is called maithunya-agara, or the shackles of sex life. BG 1972 purports
- In the matter of material creation, maintenance and destruction, there are three incarnations of the material modes of nature - Brahma, Visnu and Mahesvara. But the Lord's incarnation as Visnu, is the supreme energy for the total activities
- In the morning, afternoon and evening one should worship the Deity, chant the Hare Krsna mantra, offer oblations, perform a fire sacrifice and feed the brahmanas. These five activities constitute purascarya
- In the name of secular government, the king or governmental head remains neutral and allows people to engage in all sorts of irreligious activities. In such a state, people cannot be happy, despite all economic development
- In the present age, mankind is so absorbed with mundane activities that it is not possible to read all of the Vedic literatures. But this is not necessary. This one book, Bhagavad-gita, will suffice. BG 1972 Introduction
- In the Skanda Purana it is said that those who are attached to ritualistic activities, the four orders of social life and the four orders of spiritual life, are considered devotees
- In the spiritual sky of the brahma-jyotir there is no change of various kalpas or millenniums, and there are no creative activities in the Vaikuntha worlds. The influence of time is conspicuous by its absence
- In the spiritual world satisfaction of the senses is equally shared by the transcendental reciprocators. Since the activities are unlimited and constantly increasing, there is no scope for material attempts or artificial arrangements
- In the spiritual world there is undoubtedly time, but it has no control over activities. Time is unlimited, and the spiritual world is also unlimited, since everything there exists on the absolute plane
- In the Srimad-Bhagavatam also it is said that any activity which leads to devotional service to the Lord should be accepted. That is the highest criterion of religion. BG 1972 purports
- In the stage of perfection called samadhi, one's mind is completely restrained from material mental activities by practice of yoga. This perfection is characterized by one's ability to see the Self by the pure mind and to relish and rejoice in the Self
- In the stage of perfection called trance, or samadhi, one's mind is completely restrained from material mental activities by practice of yoga
- In the Vedas there are directions for two kinds of activities - activities for those who are attached to material enjoyment and activities for those who are materially detached
- In the Vedas there are three categories of activities, known as karma-kanda (fruitive activities), jnana-kanda (philosophical research) and upasana-kanda (worship of different demigods for receiving material benefits)
- In the Vedic literature there are various divisions: one is called the karma-kanda, which describes purely ritualistic activities, and another is the jnana-kanda, which describes speculation on the Supreme Absolute Truth
- In the Western countries old men, retired from active life, play cards, fish, watch television and debate about useless socio-political schemes. All these and other frivolous activities are included in the prajalpa category
- In the world, we see that every nation is trying to supersede every other nation and that every man is trying to advance beyond his fellow man. All these activities are going on under the name of advancement of civilization
- In these three verses (SB 4.26.1-3) the activity of the living entity is described to prove how the body becomes influenced by the quality of ignorance, even when a person wants to be religious
- In this body there are powers of speaking, of seeing, of hearing, of mental activities, etc. But these are not important if not related to the Supreme Lord. BG 1972 purports
- In this chapter (SB 3.29) the principles of bhakti-yoga, or devotional service - the execution of activities in the eternal relationship between the living entities and the Personality of Godhead - are explained
- In this material world everyone is engaged in various professional and occupational duties, but the purpose of such activities should be to please the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- In this material world, activities for material enjoyment which are considered to be pious are also sinful. For example, one sometimes gives something in charity to a needy person with a view to getting back the money four times increased
- In this material world, people in general engage in sense-gratificatory activities, which keep them bound up by the laws of the material nature. Indeed, the more a person engages in such activities, the more he expands his life in material existence
- In this philosophy (Mayavada), which is certainly very inauspicious for people in general, I (Lord Siva) have misrepresented the real meaning of the Vedas and recommended that one give up all activities in order to achieve freedom from karma
- In this philosophy, which is certainly very inauspicious for people in general, I (Siva as Sankaracarya) have misrepresented the real meaning of the Vedas and recommended that one give up all activities in order to achieve freedom from karma
- In this statement, although there is a mixture of chivalrous activities and astonishment in devotional service, there is no perverted reflection of mellows
- In this verse (BG 17.4) the Supreme Personality of Godhead describes different kinds of worshipers according to their external activities. BG 1972 purports
- In this verse (SB 4.25.44) life in the dream state is described, for the activities Puranjana accomplished during the day were also reflected at night in the dream state
- In this verse (SB 4.27.11) the great sage Narada discloses that the character of Puranjana was being described to give lessons to King Pracinabarhisat. Actually the entire description was figuratively describing the activities of King Pracinabarhisat
- In this way (sometimes going here and sometimes there and sometimes doing this or that) the living entity wanders throughout the entire universe, imprisoned in various species and thus engaging in various activities for which he must suffer the reactions
- In this way he (a living entity) performs all sorts of misconceived activities, which lead to his perpetual bondage in repetition of birth and death in various species
- In this way he is wandering within the material world. His acceptance of different types of bodies is brought about by his activities under the influence of the modes of nature
- In this way people engage in various laborious activities, and their attachment for body, home, family, nation and community becomes more and more deep-rooted
- In Vedic literature there are various divisions of ritualistic activities; one is karma-kanda, or purely ritualistic activities, and another is jnana-kanda, or speculation on the Supreme Absolute Truth
- In whichever species of life I have taken birth, compelled by the force of my own activities, I have very painfully experienced two things, namely separation from my beloved and meeting with what is not wanted
- Indeed, You are the original element. You are the witness of all activities, but because You are as great as the sky, You are never touched by any of them. You are the witness of everything as Parabrahman and Paramatma. O SPG, nothing is unknown to You
- Indra praises Krsna as follows: The goodness, austerity and penance of the devotees enhance such activities, which are always free from the contamination of passion and ignorance. Material qualities cannot touch You under any circumstances - SB 10.27.4
- Indulging in sex in any way, looking at and whispering with girls, and determining or endeavoring to engage in sex life are all against the principles of brahmacarya. One executes real brahmacarya when all these activities come to a halt
- Instead (of accepting the result of his (Nrga) pious activities), he thought it better first to receive the effects of his impious activities & then enjoy the pious activities without disturbance. On the whole, he had not developed Krsna consciousness
- Instead of becoming interested in sense gratification, one should divert his activities to satisfy the senses of the Supreme Soul. Anything performed contrary to this principle is certainly against one's self-interest
- Intelligence can be perceived in three states of activity - wakefulness, dreaming and deep sleep. The person who perceives these three is to be considered the original master, the ruler, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Intelligence is described in the feminine gender, but owing to her prominence in all activities, she is described in this verse as adhisah, the controller
- Intelligent persons factually dip into the ocean of Your nectarean activities and very patiently hear about them
- Intelligent persons interested in Krsna consciousness should never take part in such activities
- Interested in hellish activities
- Is it not dog dancing, these politicians, politics? Who cares for you? Gandhi was there, he has gone. Does it mean the world activities stop? Churchill was there. He has gone. Hitler was there. They are coming and going like so many insects
- Isvara (the Supreme Lord), jiva (the living entity),prakrti (nature), eternal time and karma (activity) are all explained in the Bhagavad-gita. Out of these five, the Lord, the living entities, material nature and time are eternal. BG 1972 Introduction
- Isvara, jiva, prakrti. And then time - what is the time factor, past, present & future. & then there is karma, activity. These five things, primary principles of philosophical speculation or philosophical understanding, are very clearly stated in the BG
- Isvaranam, those who are isvaras, the controllers, there is no fault. You should not imitate them; simply you should imitate their instruction. Not that their activities which we may not understand, why he is doing that
- It (Chanting the maha-mantra - Hare Krsna) goes beyond that, to the point where the pure spirit soul engages in his eternal, blissful, all-knowing activities in the loving service of God
- It (offering results of the activities to Krsna) still involves one in activities on the material platform. Since such activities are within the material universe, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu considered them external
- It does not matter if the reaction is good or bad; if our activities are not dovetailed with the desire of the Supreme Lord, or if we do not act in Krsna consciousness, then we shall be responsible for the results of all our activities
- It does not matter whether one is engaged in pious or impious activities, for both are causes for further entanglement in material bodies
- It is a child’s nature to engage all day and night in playing, not caring even for his health and other important concerns. This is an example of preyas. But there are also sreyas, or activities which are ultimately auspicious
- It is abominable for a vanaprastha to live in the village and engage in so-called social activities, or for a sannyasi to be addicted to sense gratification. One who acts in this way is to be considered the lowest renegade
- It is by austerity that You create the material world, which lies dormant within You. This austerity was almost stopped by the activities of this demon, but now, by Yourself appearing in the form of Nrsimhadeva, which is meant just to give us protection
- It is clearly said therein that behind the cosmic activities is the direction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- It is clearly stated here (in BG 14.7) that he (the person in mode of passion) becomes associated with the fruits of his activities and thus becomes bound by such activities. BG 1972 purports
- It is difficult for me to express anything beyond this, Ramananda Raya replied. I can only say that there is an emotional activity called prema-vilasa-vivarta, which I may try to explain but I do not know whether You (Caitanya) will be happy to hear it
- It is indeed impossible for a pure devotee to engage his mind in unwanted activities. Even if a pure devotee wanted to, his mind would not allow him to do so. That is a characteristic of a pure devotee
- It is indeed impossible for an embodied being to give up all activities. Therefore it is said that he who renounces the fruits of action is one who has truly renounced. BG 18.11 - 1972
- It is most sinful to kill cows and insult brahmanas and Vaisnavas. The karma incurred by such activity is very great, but one can immediately nullify all this karma by surrendering to Lord Krsna and chanting His holy name
- It is naturally subjected to the transformations of lust and anger. In this way, it becomes attracted to material sense enjoyment because the mind is absorbed in desires for pious and impious activities
- It is necessary that through the mind, the center of sensual activities, such transcendental realization be set into motion. The devotees directly fix their minds on the Person of the Absolute Truth
- It is necessary to know which activities are genuine and which are not, which are bona fide and which are not, which are prohibited and which are not. If we understand the principle of work, we can become free from material bondage
- It is not possible for a tiny human being to estimate the purpose and plans of such activities; therefore Srila Jiva Gosvami has said that unless the Lord's activities are accepted as inconceivable, they cannot be explained
- It is not possible that they could offend any saintly man or sage, nor could the sages, who were all pure devotees of the Lord, be influenced to anger by any of the sporting activities of the princes born in the holy dynasties of Yadu or Bhoja
- It is not that if one executes his duty properly he is automatically promoted, for promotion depends upon the satisfaction of the SP of G. It must ultimately be concluded that one can achieve the desired result of his activities upon satisfying the Lord
- It is not that those who have developed a passive relationship with Krsna are more likely to fall into nescient activities
- It is not that we have to change our process of work, but we do have to understand for whom we are working. Whatever activity we have to do we must execute, but we should not be carried away by kama, desire
- It is not the philosophy of this Krsna consciousness movement to disengage people from their activities. One should engage in his occupation, but one should never forget Krsna
- It is now clear that as a consequence of such activities, a sinful person like me must be thrown into hellish conditions meant for those who have broken religious principles and must there suffer extreme miseries
- It is only after many, many births of sense gratificatory activities that a great soul surrenders unto Vasudeva, Lord Krsna, thereby fulfilling the search after the ultimate truth. BG 1972 purports
- It is out of fear of Him that activities are rightly executed. Everyone's position is to be subordinate to the Supreme Lord, yet the Lord has no partiality in His view of the living entities
- It is said here that a dead civilization and its activities are something like clarified butter on ashes, the accumulation of money by a magic wand and the sowing of seeds in a barren land
- It is said in Bhagavad-gita that there is no person superior to Sri Krsna Himself. He is the supreme enjoyer of all sacrifices and activities
- It is sometimes said that when one is influenced by evil stars like Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, he cannot make advancement in any prospective activity
- It is specifically mentioned that the karmis who are aspiring after the fruitive results of their activities can achieve the results of all perfectional stages simply by chanting the maha-mantra
- It is stated in the Puranas, "Persons who attempt to visit the holy places of pilgrimage, like Vrndavana, Mathura or Dvaraka, are actually glorified. By such traveling activities, they can pass over the desert of material existence"
- It is the custom in the temples of Deities that if there have been some impure activities, the Deity has to be washed with milk
- It is the duty of the vaisyas. Krsi-go-raksya-vanijyam vaisya-karma svabhava-jam. It is the duty of the vaisyas to protect the cows, to increase agricultural activities and trade
- It is the government's duty to manage whether a man should be put into prison house, whether a man should go to the university. But the difference of individual activities
- It is the opinion of expert transcendentalists that the ultimate goal of performing all traditional good works, penances, sacrifices, charities, mystic activities, trances, etc., is to invoke My satisfaction
- It is to be understood that one is to be considered educated in accordance with his vision of life and his activity in accordance with that vision, not by his academic degrees. This is the understanding of the word pandita from Bhagavad-gita
- It is very difficult to give up lust and the desires for low activities until one is in the line of devotional service to the Lord
- It may be said that He (God) sits in the core of everyone's heart as the neutral witness of the causes and effects of one's activities, good and bad
- It may be said that the activities of Brahman realization are different from those of conditional life, but that does not stop activity. This is indicated in Bhagavad-gītā (BG 18.54): after one realizes oneself to be Brahman, devotional service begins
- It may be said that there can be no activity without the living force. Although the living force is present in the material condition, it is not amrta, immortal
- It may be said that there can be no activity without the living force. Although the living force is present in the material condition, this condition is not amrta, immortal - CC Intro
- It really doesn't matter what activity a man engages in. If he can simply satisfy the Supreme Lord, his life is successful
- It should be understood that His senses are not exactly like ours. Although He is the source of all our sensual activities, He has His transcendental senses which are uncontaminated. BG 1972 purports
