- Just like in the desert, Arabian Desert, there is no food, no grain, for them animal-eating may be permissible. Because after all, we have to live. That is a different thing

- A child will sometimes take something important, so we have to flatter him. "Oh, you are so nice. Please take these lozenges and give me that paper. It is nothing; it is paper." And he will say, - Oh, yes. Take. That's nice
- A great journey is indicated in this verse (BG 8.21). We have to be able to penetrate outer space, traverse the material universe, penetrate its covering, and enter the spiritual sky. Paramam gatim - that journey is supreme
- A man is engaged in devotional service. Might be he's going to the municipal office, he's going to the income tax office. Because when we have to remain within this material world, we have to abide by the laws of the state
- A tiger is a living entity, part and parcel of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the Supreme Lord is living in the heart of the tiger as Supersoul. But does this mean that we have to treat the tiger in a friendly manner? Certainly not
- Absolute Truth is known in three different phases. - What is that? "Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan." If we really seeking knowledge, then we have to find out a person who is tattva-darsi, who has understood the Absolute Truth
- Acaryavan puruso veda. Acarya upasanam. In the Bhagavad-gita it is said. So we have to accept the principles laid down by the acaryas
- Acaryopasana. We have to worship the acaryas. That is recommended in the Bhagavad-gita for making progress in spiritual life

- According to law. It may be it is man-made law, it is wrong, but the principle is that whatever is judgement of the sastra, we have to take. It doesn't matter who is that man and how great he is
- According to the law of karma, or the law governing activities, if we act properly and perform pious activities, we are awarded by good fortune, and if we act sinfully we have to suffer

- Adhoksaja means beyond our sense perception. Therefore we have to know Krsna from Krsna, not by our speculation. Krsna may . . . that is frog philosophy. Frog philosophy. He's simply calculating with reference to his teeny well, three feet
- After all, the soul is within the body. So if the body has become unclean, or some other reason, the body has to be changed, so that is not lack of love. Therefore we have to understand actually what we are. Am I this body or something else?
- After rising from bed, Lord Krsna would wash His mouth, hands and feet and would immediately sit down and meditate on Himself. This does not mean, however, that we should also sit down and meditate on ourselves. We have to meditate upon Radha-Krsna
- After the death, we have to give somebody, some living entity. So generally, it is given to the vultures. So why to the vultures? Take the civilized men, who are as good as vultures. The so-called civilized men. Yes
- All of them (Jesus, Caitanya . . .) agreed that we have to go to a separate world, where peace and prosperity have their real being. We have to search out our eternal peace & prosperity in the kingdom of God, which is a place other than this mortal world

- Ananya-bhavena, without any deviation, unflinching, staunch devotee, they are called sadhu. So we have to associate with sadhu. Satam prasangat. When you discuss about Krsna with sadhu or devotees, it becomes very pleasing
- Anartha means meaningless. No artha. Artha means meaning. So if we want to stop this anartha, misconception of life, then we have to take to bhakti-yoga
- Anartha means unwanted bad habits. So when we are children, innocent, we have no bad habits, but as we grow and associate with bad company, we also acquire all these bad habits. So to give up all these bad habits means we have to associate with sadhus
- And again, when the creation is manifested, we have to take birth in different species of life and begin our activities. We should not be satisfied simply by a promotion to the higher planetary systems
- And where? Pranipata. Where you will find a person that "He is... Here is a person where I can surrender"? Then that means we have to make a little test where to surrender. That much knowledge you must have
- Another function of the tongue is to taste and accept the Lord's prasada. We have to begin our service to the Unlimited with the tongue and become perfect in chanting, and accepting the Lord's prasada
- Anyone who believes in direct perception, his knowledge is imperfect always, because the senses are imperfect. Therefore we have to receive knowledge from perfect: Krsna, the supreme perfect. He is above this darkness. He comes from the kingdom of light
- Arjuna did not accept Krsna blindly. He knew, but for our sake he gave so many arguments. At last, he accepted. So we have to follow Arjuna
- As far as meditation on the arca-vigraha form of the Lord is concerned, we have to look at the Deity beginning with His lotus feet. It is not that we immediately look at His smiling face
- As God hasn't got to do anything, we, being Krsna's part and parcel, we have got that tendency that we don't want to do anything, but we want to enjoy. But we have fallen under certain conditions, and we have to work. This is our position

- Association of material world means accepting one type of body and enjoy or suffer for some time; then you get another body. Now we have to make our choice, whether you want to stop this material way of life and attain the eternal spiritual life
- At night I am forgetting this body, and daytime I am forgetting my night body. So forgetfulness is not the basic principle of knowledge. The things as they are we have to study
- At the present moment we have to perform sacrifices by chanting the hari-kirtana, the glorification of Krsna. - This is yajna
- At the time of death Krsna comes and takes away everything - house, land, wife, children, friends, reputation and whatever. Then we have to begin another life
- At the time of death we have to finish that process of perfection. During our lifetime we have to practice the method of approaching that perfection so that at the time of death, when we have to give up this material body, that perfection can be realized
- At the time of death, the trouble, or the miserable condition, is so acute that we have to give up this body. Sometimes when man becomes very much upset, he commits suicide. He cuts his own throat. Why? He cannot live in this body
- Attachment to the material modes brings about our bondage. If we want to be free from this bondage, we have to transfer our attachment to a sadhu

- Because cow dung and conchshells are considered pure by the Vedas, they are accepted as pure by the followers of the Vedas. If we want to understand the statements by indirect interpretation, then we have to challenge the Vedic statements
- Because human life is meant for becoming God conscious, Krsna conscious, we have to act in God consciousness
- Because I am eternal, you are eternal, so I want to live forever. But we are put under certain condition of this material world that we have to die
- Because we are now in a condition which is not natural condition. So we have to put ourself in the natural condition, and the service attitude will go on. This is called Krsna consciousness
- Because we have come to this conditional state of life, bhutva bhutva praliyate (BG 8.19), we sometimes . . . once we take birth and again we die - this is not very good proposal. But these rascals, they do not know how nature is working
- Because we have forgotten our intimate relationship with Krsna, and trying to become happy in this material world, therefore we have to undergo so much tribulations. This is the position
- Because we have to eat some other living entity, it does not mean that I shall eat my sons and daughters. "Discrimination is the best part of valor." So far we are concerned, we are eating certainly vegetable, but not directly. We eat krsna-prasadam
- Because we have to say we are servant of Krsna; therefore we have to teach everyone to surrender to Krsna. Not that, I am God, you surrender to me
- Because your mind is absorbed in the thought of dog, therefore you must take the dog's body. This is nature's law. Therefore we have to train up our mind. Instead of dog, you must train up your mind to think of God. Then you will be saved
- Before going to India, we may acquire a description of what the country is like; the hearing of a place is the first experience. Similarly, if we want to get information about the planet where God lives, we have to hear
- Behind this material, big material nature, cosmic manifestation, there is God. That is Krsna, and accepted by all authorities. We have to accept things which is accepted by authorities
- Bhakti means that we have to clear ourself from the designations. What is that designation? Everyone is thinking, "I am American," "I am Indian," "I am European," "I am Australian," "I am cat," "I am dog, "I am this," "I am that" - bodily
- Bhakti-yoga is not sentiment, it is a science. Therefore we have to take it from authorized Vedic instruction. Srila Rupa Gosvami has advised that science means you have to take it from the Vedic knowledge
- Bhava-roga. We have to cure this disease & come to our healthy standard of life. That opportunity is here in this human form of life. If you want to cure this material disease & revive healthy condition of eternal spiritual life, the opportunity is here
- Bhisma is accepted as mahajana, as authority. And what was his business? He wanted to kill Krsna and Arjuna. Just try to understand. Therefore, we have to follow only the instruction of mahajana; otherwise, we'll be bewildered
- Birth, death, old age and disease. The whole problem is that we have to get out of this material existence. So the, from the material point of view, or platform, any act, good or bad, that will have material reaction
- Bodily pleasure is flickering and intoxicating, and we cannot actually enjoy it, because of its momentary nature. Actual pleasure is of the soul, not the body. We have to mold our lives in such a way that we will not be diverted by bodily pleasure
- Brahma may live millions of years, but he ultimately has to die. Whether we go to the highest planet or the lowest planet, whether we are in the body of a Brahma or a cat, we ultimately have to die
- By chanting Hare Krsna we have to mold our thinking power, always thinking of Krsna
- By fortune he gets a guru. And by the instruction of guru he gets Krsna. So to create fortune we have to take this regulative principle, to become fortunate that someday he'll be able to meet somebody who is real guru and who will give him real guidance
- By intelligence we have to conquer over the formidable enemy which has captured the three strategic position -That means the senses and the mind and intelligence
- By our imperfect sense perception we cannot understand the form of the Lord. We have to acquire knowledge about Him
- By sense enjoyment, nobody can become happy. Because we are in the material existence. And our senses are false senses. Real senses - spiritual senses. So we have to awaken our spiritual consciousness. Then by spiritual senses we can enjoy
- By symptoms we have to accept whether one is brahmana or ksatriya or vaisya, not by birth. That is the injunction of the sastra
- By the example of Pariksit Maharaja, we can take the lesson that we do not know when we shall die, but before death we have to become competent in Krsna consciousness
- By the grace of Krsna, not by academic qualification. We have to acquire the grace of Krsna. Then we can understand Krsna. Then we can see Krsna. Then we can talk with Krsna. Then we can do everything. He is a person

- Darwin's theory of evolution, that is not perfectly explained. It is explained in the Vedic literature. So just a tree is standing for ten thousands of years, we had to pass through this life. But there is no perfect knowledge
- Dhairyat - and one has to become very tolerant, because so many things will disturb. Caitanya Mahaprabhu therefore said that, trnad api sunicena, taror api sahisnuna (Siksastaka 3). We have to tolerate. We have to do our business
- Disease should be cured, not to increase it. But at the present moment we are mad after increasing the disease. We are acting in such a way that we have to accept another body. That means material disease will continue
- Don't disbelieve. It is in the sastra. So there are hellish planet, hellish birth, 8,400,000 species of birth. So we have to take information from the sastra. Don't be foolish
- Don't spend your hard-earned money for sense gratification. Then one may say that "After all, we have got this body, and we have to eat, we have to sleep. And because we have got senses, the senses must be a little bit satisfied." No
- Don’t accept Hare Krsna mantra as a counteracting agent. No. We have to come to the pure chanting. Of course, in the beginning, because we do not know, we may commit offenses
- Dr. Radhakrishnan interprets: It is not the personal Krsna to whom we have to give ourselves up utterly but the Unborn, Beginningless, Eternal who speaks through Krsna
- Dress is not important. Practically, as sannyasi, brahmacari, we dress with saffron cloth. But sometimes you do not like, but we have to do business with you - therefore we change. What can be done? Necessity has no law
- During our lifetime we have to practice approaching that point of perfection, and at the time of death, when we give up this material body, that perfection has to be realized. At the time of death, one must be prepared
- During our material existence, we have to deal with material objects, if only to keep body and soul together. But in all such material activities we can evoke the spiritual atmosphere, in terms of the Vedantic truth that the Supreme Spirit is omnipresent

- Either you are a child or grown-up man, when you touch the fire it will act. There is no excuse. Similarly, knowingly or unknowingly, if we do something wrong, we have to be punished. This is the law of nature
- Ekadasi is meant for fasting, either Bhima or Arjuna. But we cannot fast, therefore we have to take little fruits
- Envious people create many impediments to the Krsna consciousness movement, but we have to tolerate them. There is no alternative. One must be peaceful and depend on Krsna in all circumstances. These are the ornaments of a sadhu
- Especially it is harer nama (CC Adi 17.21), it is not gupta. That is in the Kali-yuga it should be openly chanted, and we have to follow our predecessor, Haridasa Thakura, namacarya
- Even for material understanding which is beyond our sense perception we have to receive knowledge from authority. Similarly, we cannot understand what is God. But from the authoritative sources we can understand that God is so great
- Even great sages agree: What is atma, what is the Supreme? It is He whom we have to worship. BG 1972 purports
- Even if we do not accept God, if we do not accept the leadership of God, we have to select another leader. We cannot get rid of this principle, that we can live without leader. That is our constitutional position

- Everybody has got something. That is called artha. Prana, artha, and everyone has got intelligence, and everyone has got the power to speak. So we have to engage all these four things. Either four or three or two, at least one, we must engage
- Everyone has experience that this material pleasure comes to an end. Spiritual enjoyment, however, does not end; rather, it increases. That is the difference. Therefore we have to associate with Govinda
- Everyone is worshiping a person. Everyone is . . . but we have to worship the Supreme Person. That is perfect

- First of all we have to know God, then we have to know our relationship with God. The next step is acting on the basis of that relationship
- First of all we have to understand that one who has no necessity, he's in the lowest status. One who has got necessity, he is in the higher status
- First-class education, without any fee, from the realized soul - that was educational system, varnasrama-dharma. So we have to find out such guru, Vaisnava
- For preaching work we have to accept many disciples - for expanding preaching - even if we suffer. That's a fact. The spiritual master has to take the responsibility for all the sinful activities of his disciples
- For real peace and tranquillity and a sufficient supply of milk, water, and everything else we need, we simply have to depend on Krsna
- For sex they (hogs) have no discrimination whether it is mother or sister or anyone. You'll find that. We have to take lessons from nature's study

- For spiritual emancipation we have to act on the platform of consciousness, and because we are now engaged in material engagement, it is not possible for us to at once get rid of this material consciousness, but we have gradually to get out of it

- Formerly it was the practice to go to the forest, go to the Himalaya, but in this age this is not possible. Therefore we have to take shelter of the Lord wherever we are, and that is Hare Krsna chanting
- Formerly, a man used to work on his field, a few steps from his house. Now we have created facility of transport; therefore we have to go to work three hundred miles away from home
- From Bhagavad-gita we have to accept that there is a spiritual universe which is the kingdom of God
- From Bhagavad-gita we learn that death is not really natural for us. It is artificially imposed upon us, and we have to become deathless again. That is the perfection of human life, but no one cares about it
- From that brahma-bhuta status, we have to work, for work is recommended here. So long as we have this material body, we have to work. We cannot stop working; it is not possible
- From the authoritative sources of Vedic literature we have to understand both Him who is greater than the greatest and him who is smaller than the smallest

- Generally, too much eating is prohibited. We have to eat simply, just to keep the body and soul nicely to execute Krsna consciousness
- God does not discriminate, but so long as we have got forms we have to discriminate
- God is everywhere. So we have to qualify ourself how to talk with God, how to see God. Otherwise God is present everywhere
- God is great, and we are dependent on God. Therefore natural conclusion is that we have to serve God. This is the whole problem. Serving means with love. Because it is love. Serving means developing love
- God is the supreme controller. And we have to learn how to remain peacefully under the supreme controller. Just like citizens and the government. Good citizenship means one who lives under the control of the government
- God, there are incarnation, there are hundreds and thousands of incarnation, but to accept that incarnation we have to follow the direction of the sastra. The sastra, in every incarnation is described there, His symptoms are described there
- Good action or bad action, we have to suffer or enjoy the result. That is called reaction. But sacrifice for the cause of the Supreme Lord, that has no reaction. This is also bright side. There are so many wrong side also
- Government recognition means we have to abide by the orders of government. We cannot teach Bhagavad-gita only or Bhagavata
- Gradually, we are coming to very dangerous, I mean to say, pattern of living condition with the age, with the advancement of this age of Kali. And it is said that for earning our bread we have to work like an ass in this Kali-yuga
- Grhastha life is a concession for sex life. Actually, sex life is not required for advancement of civilization. That is advancement. Why? That if so long we are attached to sex life, we have to remain within this material world - in any form
- Guided by so-called psychologists and philosophers, people in the modern age do not know of the activities of the subtle body and thus cannot understand what is meant by the transmigration of the soul. Here we have to take the authorized statements of BG
- Guru means whatever instruction he'll give, we have to accept without any argument. Vedic knowledge is like that. You cannot interpret. As it is, you have to accept

- He (Krsna) clearly says, bhaktya mam abhijanati: (BG 18.55) "Only by devotional service can I be understood." If we want to know Krsna as He is, we have to accept the process of bhakti. It is this bhakti process that Kapiladeva will reveal to Devahuti
- He (Krsna) is the real friend of every living entity. So we have to revive our friendship, or revive our actual relationship, just like Arjuna is doing
- He (Lord Krsna) is situated outside and inside. Simply we have to make our eyes and senses perfect to see Him. Krsna is not invisible. He is visible

- If we want to know Krsna, then we have to transfer our attachment to Krsna. Mayy asakta-manah. The mind should be attached to Krsna
- If we want to learn about Krsna, then we have to follow the path of mahajanas, great personalities
- If we want to make the whole world sadhu, perfect human being, then we have to push on this movement without any hesitation
- If we want to stop this anartha, misconception of life, then we have to take to bhakti-yoga

- If we want to transcend above this material plane, then we'll have to completely reject the bodily conception of life. We have to stand on the spiritual consciousness of life. That is being taught

- In Bhagavad-gita it is very simply stated (BG 2.22): You are covered by a dress, by a shirt. When this shirt is unuesable, you change it. Similarly, this body is just like a shirt and coat. When it is no longer workable, we have to change it
- In Bhagavad-gita the peace formula is clearly given. We have to understand that Krsna is the only enjoyer. The consciousness of this is developed in a Krsna conscious temple where the central point of all activities is Krsna

- Jivatma is small, and Paramatma, or God, is great. That you know, every one of you. You say: "God is great," but how He is great, that we do not know. That we have to know. That is called God consciousness or Krsna consciousness
- Jnana means theoretical knowledge and vijnana means practical knowledge. So we have to do it practically, not that "I have read Bhagavad-gita and Bhagavata. So I have become a devotee." No
- Just always think of Krsna, always offer obeisances to Krsna, become a devotee of Krsna. Man-mana, think of Krsna always. We have to carry this message. Where is the difficulty
- Just as a policeman may enter a house without trespassing, a servant has the right to go anywhere, because everything belongs to God. We have to see things in this way, as they are. That is Krsna consciousness
- Just as during the formation of this body we have to pass through so many difficulties within the womb of the mother, at the time of death there are also many difficulties
- Just as we surrender unto Krsna, we have to surrender unto His representative, the spiritual master. The guru is Krsna's external representative, and the internal guru is Krsna Himself situated in everyone's heart
- Just get yourself married and have sex life only for children, not for other purpose. So kamasya nendriya-pritih. Kama means we have got some demands of the body. That is called kama, or lust. So that does not mean that we have to gratify the senses
- Just knowing "I am not this body but am spirit soul" is not sufficient. We have to escape this entanglement of material nature. This is called mukti, liberation

- Just like Bhagavad-gita. Everything is there already. We have to take it, accept it, and apply it practically in life, and distribute the knowledge throughout the whole world. This is the mission of India
- Just like bona fide representative, Jesus Christ or other great, I mean to say, leaders of the religious faiths, they do not come with the inferior nature. They come with the superior nature of God. That we have to accept
- Just like we have to increase our love for Krsna. The proportionately we increase our love for Krsna, we decrease our love for matter
K
- Kingdom of God is there beyond this material sky. So we have to take information where that spiritual world is there. You can have it from Vedic literature
- Knowingly or unknowingly we are put into such a condition that knowingly or unknowingly we have to commit something which is not very favorable for our future
- Krishna is spread everywhere by different potencies but when there is question of love, we have to be in direct touch with Krishna. That is personalism
- Krsna can satisfy His senses without any labor, but we have to satisfy our senses by dint of our labor. Not easy
- Krsna consciousness is not a thing as you are taught technology or mathematics or like that. It is already there. Simply we have to revive it
- Krsna consciousness means we have to increase our attachment for Krsna to the perfectional stage, when there is no more order, but automatically
- Krsna consciousness movement means that we have to change the account, not for sense gratification. Because real proprietor is Krsna. When I think, "I am proprietor, I am enjoyer," that is illusion
- Krsna consciousness, is so bright, so illuminated and so valuable that in the presence of such consciousness you will directly deny to have any valuable things of this material world. So we have to attain to that state. Now, that is the real aim of life
- Krsna consciousness, or devotional service, means purifying the senses. That's all. We haven't got to eradicate, get out of the sensual activities. No. We have simply to purify the senses
- Krsna did not come to establish the so-called Hindu religion or Muslim religion or Christian religion. No. He came to establish real religion. Real religion means we have to submit, surrender to the real person
- Krsna Himself is on the battlefield and He is trying to induce Arjuna. Arjuna is declining, and He is inducing, "No, you must fight." Yad yad acarati sresthah (BG 3.21). So we have to follow the footprints of great personalities
- Krsna is always present, and we simply have to invite Him, "My Lord, please come and be in the center." That's all
- Krsna is instructing Arjuna, and we have to understand how Arjuna has understood Krsna. And if we follow the understanding of Arjuna, then we are following the parampara system, or the disciplic succession
- Krsna is very kind. He has given us little independence; thus people interpret fully independent. But according to our proportionate existence we have to use that independence
- Krsna recommended evam parampara-praptam. We have to receive knowledge through the disciplic succession. Mahajana-gatah. You cannot manufacture. This concoction has killed the spiritual life of India. "You can think any way; I can think in my way"
- Krsna says because the soul is immortal, therefore tasmad evam viditva, understanding of this principle, enam, this body, na anusocitum arhasi. The real factor is the soul. We have to take care of the soul, not of the body
- Krsna says that "I spoke this philosophy of Bhagavad-gita to Vivasvan." Vivasvan is the name of the person who is predominating in the sun globe. We have to know from Krsna that sun globe is not vacant. When the king is there, the kingdom is also there
- Krsna says, aham sarvasya prabhavah (BG 10.8). Sarvasya, or Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan. The Bhagavan is the origin of Paramatma and Brahman. Brahmanah aham pratistha. So in this way we have to understand what is Krsna, not superficially
- Krsna speaking in the Seventh Chapter, mayy asakta-manah. We have to increase our attachment for Krsna. So there is process. If you actually serious, you can take the process, and you will be successful
- Krsna was there. So Brahma is admitting that this Krsna is parabrahman sanatanam. So we have to take evidence from the authorities. There are twelve authorities according to sastra. Brahma is one of the authorities
- Krsna's service is so sublime that even if we cheat, you are not culprit. But because we have to deal with the worldly man, we have to go according to their rules and regulation on cheating
- Krsna, Krsna's energy, nondifferent. But that is not very beneficial to us. We have to take shelter of the internal energy
- Krsna, or God, is all-spirit. Therefore we have to go back to Godhead means with spiritual body, not with material body. That is your highest perfection
- Krsna, or Visnu, has got many thousands of names. Any name will be profitable. That doesn't matter. But because we have to follow the footsteps of great personalities, great devotees, therefore, as we are following the footsteps of Lord Caitanya

- Lord Buddha, we have to accept him as an authority, Lord Buddha. Now, he gives you idea that no misery. So how do you accept these words of Lord Buddha?
- Lord Krsna first spoke Bhagavad-gita to the sun-god some hundreds of millions of years ago. We have to accept this fact and thus understand the historical significance of Bhagavad-gita, without misinterpretation, on the authority of Krsna. BG 1972 Preface
- Lord Siva is in one sense the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but in another sense he is not, just as curd is milk although we have to distinguish between the two

- Mad-deva, that "Krsna, is my worshipable Deity only," this conclusion comes after many, many births of culturing knowledge, jnana, yoga, karma. It is not so easy. Therefore we have to take shelter of such person who has taken Krsna as the only shelter
- Maha-jano yena gatah sa panthah: "We have to follow in the footsteps of great authorities coming down in the parampara system." If we approach a bona fide acarya and keep faith in his words, spiritual realization will be easy
- Material world means so long we'll have this material body, we'll have to face so many disturbances. War is one of them
- Material world means step by step, simply danger. That is material world. So we have to find out pratikaram, counteraction, how to save yourself from danger
- Maya is always after this checking process. So we have to fight against the maya, then we come to Krsna consciousness. That fighting determination must be there
- Maya is so powerful that it induces again to commit sinful life. So we have to promise
- Mercy reservoir is Krsna. But we are servant of Krsna. We have to abide by His orders. That's all. Real mercy is Krsna's
- Mind is the friend of oneself, and mind is the enemy of oneself. So we have to train the mind. If I train my mind for becoming my friend, then my life is successful. If I train my mind to become my enemy, then my life is unsuccessful
- Most rubbish civilization, modern misleading, soul-killing. Andha yathandhair upaniyamanah (SB 7.5.31). Very difficult to live with them. Still, we have to do this Krsna's business. So we have to do our business. Let the dogs bark on
- My point is that war is not the only disturbing principle. There are many other disturbing principles. So we have to make a wholesale solution of all principles
- My spiritual master used to say, "Don't try to see God. Act in such a way that God will see you." We have to qualify ourselves. By your qualification God Himself will come and see you

- Nama-gane sada rucih: we have to increase our taste for singing and chanting Hare Krsna
- Nature's law, there is no excuse, the same thing, that if a child even touches fire, nature is not very merciful; it will burn. Similarly, at the time of death we have to think very rightly. That is required. That is human life
- Nirmala means without any dirt, cleansed completely, crystal clear. That is required. Senses will be there, mind will be there, intelligence will be there, I'll be there - everything will be there, but we have to cleanse the desire, purify the desires
- Nirmalam means purification. On account of impure life, we are embarrassed with so many designation - Impure life. So we have to become designationless
- Niyama means regulation. We have to follow the rules and regulation. That is compulsory. That is human
- No one has to discover the nature of the Lord. It is already spoken by the Lord Himself in the Bhagavad-gita especially and in all other Vedic literatures generally. We have simply to accept them in toto and abide by the orders of the Lord
- Nobody can change. But rules and regulation for different times, different circumstances are there in the sruti-smrti. We have to take it
- Nobody learns to smoke from the beginning of life, but the child requires to eat something. That's a fact. But it doesn't require to smoke. So these are artificial things. So we have to minimize the non-necessary things
- Nonviolence can be practiced only when we follow in the footsteps of great acaryas. Therefore, according to our Vaisnava philosophy, we have to follow the great acaryas of the four sampradayas, or disciplic successions
- Not that I remain safety and chanting Hare Krsna. No. We have to go out, meet the Jagai Madhai. That is Caitanya Mahaprabhu's mission. Because the world is full of Jagai-Madhai
- Now we have created facility of transport; therefore we have to go to work three hundred miles away from home. This is the position. But they have no brain. They're thinking they're advancing
- Now we have this human form of life, and so we have to get out of the entanglement. But getting out is not possible. You cannot get out of the entanglement of the material body unless you develop your Krsna consciousness
- Now we have to adjust. That is not contradiction. That is suitable to the time and circumstance

- Obviously we have to tolerate suffering. One of the characteristics of a sadhu is tolerance
- Of course we have to maintain the body; it is not that we should neglect it. But we should not unnecessarily engage in the maintenance of the body
- Of course, we have to give up anything which is against Krsna consciousness. It is not that because we do not stop material duties, we should not stop meat-eating. We must stop it, for this is contrary to advancement in Krsna consciousness
- One has to become intelligent, dhira. For spiritual understanding we have to create the favorable circumstances
- One has to take shelter of a person whose life is devoted to Krsna, and under his direction, we have to practice how to develop Krsna Consciousness, and then Krsna will be revealed
- One may say that "After all, we have got this body, and we have to eat, we have to sleep. And because we have got senses, the senses must be a little bit satisfied." No. Krsna says, Suta Gosvami says, it is not that you shall stop
- One must evacuate every morning and evening. If we eat more, then we have to evacuate twice. But if we eat less, then once evacuation is sufficient
- One should know what is truth, ultimate truth, Absolute Truth. We are concerned with relative truths, but we have to know the Absolute Truth
- One who has actually seen or actually realized the truth, you have to take knowledge from there. So we have to approach such person. Otherwise, if we approach some speculator, we cannot get real knowledge
- One who is carrying this message (that Krsna is the supreme guru and we have to take instruction from Him to get benefited), he is also authorized
- One who is pandita - pandita means learned - he does not make any distinction between a learned brahmin or a dog or a cat or a cow, because he sees the spirit. So we have come to that spiritual platform
- Only qualification required in this connection, he says, visaya chadiya, se rase majiya, mukhe bolo hari hari. We have to chant with faith and conviction; at the same time we should take care, we should be guarding against sense enjoyment
- Originally the order is from Krsna. Comes by disciplic succession. Just like Krsna said this knowledge to Arjuna, and Arjuna said to others. And it is open. Everyone can take it; there is no secrecy. We have to accept only, that's all
- Our aim should be to understand Krsna. Of course Krsna is unlimited, and it is not possible to understand Him, but we have to accept what we can understand. Bhagavad-gita is specifically presented for our understanding
- Our business is not to cheat. We have to say frankly, "This is the fact," that's all
- Our business is to become liberated from all this conditioning. How is this possible? Sa eva sadhusu krto moksa-dvaram apavrtam (SB 3.25.20). We have to turn our attachment from material things to a sadhu
- Our business, this spiritual line, is guru-krsna-krpa. We have to first receive the merciful benediction from the acarya, and then Krsna will be pleased and He'll also give His blessings
- Our consciousness is developed. But because in this age, material world, we have no spiritual idea, so whatever power we have got in thinking, we are trying to increase artificially material way of life. The idle brain is a devil's workshop
- Our constitutional position is we have to take shelter of somebody. Just like the dog. The dog, if he has no shelter, a good master, he has no position. Street dog
- Our desires cannot be satisfied by illusory thoughts and plans; rather, we have to follow the instructions of Lord Krsna: sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja (BG 18.66). Then we shall be happy
- Our loving propensity or our love for God is already there in every living being, but it is now covered due to our ignorance, or due to our contamination with this material nature. So simply we have to awaken that love
- Our philosophy says we have to satisfy Krsna
- Our point is that you do whatever you are doing. We don't stop you. We never say that "Stop everything of material..." But we have to stop anything which is against Krsna consciousness
- Our position is, I have already explained, that we are all imperfect. Therefore we have to take knowledge from the perfect
- Our position is, we learn from Bhagavad-gita that we have to increase our attachment for God, Krsna, mayy asakta. This is the perfect process of yoga system
- Our practical experience is that we are born. Krsna is not born. We have to understand this. Understanding this is to be firmly convinced He is the cause, but is not caused
- Our present qualification is we are too much attached to this material sense enjoyment. Material life means sense enjoyment. Therefore we have to reduce the sense enjoyment by tapasya
- Our proposition is that we have to take knowledge from the perfect person. So if Krsna is in illusion, then how He can become perfect person, and the knowledge delivered by Him is perfect?
- Our senses ordering to do something which is not to be done at all. But still we have to do. Lusty desires are so strong, I do not want to do it, but it is forcing. In this way, we are being forced to serve the senses
- Our Vaisnava principle is we have to qualify ourselves, just like cats and dog. But we are not going to serve the ordinary person. Krsna and His representative - then his life is perfect
- Our whole problem is that instead of having this material body, we have to get our spiritual body. That is Krsna conscious . . . that is the benefit of Krsna consciousness
- Out of anxiety we had to telephone several times and sent telegrams, so much so that the savings which the overintelligent boy wanted to make has been nullified by increasing the expenditure three times
- Out of twelve authorities, Sukadeva Gosvami is authority. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah (CC Madhya 17.186). We have to follow the authority

- Peace is not possible unless you have got a leader or king like Bharata Maharaja, after whose name this planet is called Bharatavarsa, this Bharata Maharaja. So we have to find out such leader. Then everything will be adjusted
- People are engaged, "Work hard, earn money and be engaged in sense gratification." That's all. This is the whole program, at the present moment is going on. That cannot bring any peace and prosperity to the society. We have to perform yajnas
- People, they have no knowledge what is life, what is sinful life, what is pious life, why we are put into this condition that "We have to do this; we haven't got to do that." This is real philosophy of life
- Phalena pariciyate. We have to understand by the result. If the result is not very satisfactory, then you must know that progress is not very nice
- Pious activities means to be controlled by Krsna, and impious activities means to be controlled by maya. We have to be controlled. Our position is such that we cannot become controller. That is not possible
- Prahlada Maharaja says - God is the dearmost personality of all. We have to search for God
- Prahlada Maharaja says that to attain this Krsna consciousness is not very difficult task. Actually it is so, it is not very difficult task. Simply we have to make association, and that association is very easily made, simply by chanting
- Pravrtti-marga or nivrtti-marga, so we have to become fixed about these things. We cannot be deviant
- Prayasa means do something with extraordinary endeavor. So, of course, we have to do sometime, but it is the general principle
- Premanjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena, santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti (Bs. 5.38). We have to smear our eyes with the ointment of love; then Krsna will reveal Himself. Krsna will actually come in front of us
R
- Radharani is daivi-maya. Just like we are, in our material conditional life, we are under the material energy. Similarly, in our liberated state we have to become under the spiritual energy. That spiritual energy is Radharani
- Real dharma, means to abide by the orders of God. But they do not know what is God. They do not know what is the order of God. Of course, there are scriptures, but we have to know
- Real happiness can be achieved in the spiritual world. Not in the material world. So certain amount of happiness and certain amount of distress we have to enjoy and suffer. You cannot change it. This is the law of nature in this material world
- Real master is Krsna. So in this way, if we establish our relationship with Krsna as..., either as husband or lover or master or friend or son or father, it is perfect. It is perfect. We have to go to that stage
- Real sense is within. Hrsikena hrsikesa-sevanam (CC Madhya 19.170). We have to serve Krsna, Hrsikesa... Krsna is real, and we have to come to that position of reality. Then we can serve Krsna
- Religious principle and not religious principle, nonreligious principle - how to discern. The book is there, Veda. We have to consult the Vedas
- Rupa Gosvami says that as long as we are in this material world we have to act; we cannot cease acting. BG 1972 purports

- Sadhu is representative of Krsna. Sadhu will never say that, "You serve me." Sadhu will say: "Serve Krsna." Therefore we have to approach Krsna through sadhu, not directly
- Sambandha, what is our connection with God. That is called sambandha. And then abhidheya. According to that relationship we have to act. That is called abhidheya. And why do we act. Because we have got the goal of life, to achieve the goal of life
- Sankhya-purvaka-nama-gana-natibhih. We have to practice. Certain numerical strength we must maintain
- Sarva-dharman means some religious occupation is for sense gratification and some religious occupation is rejection of this material world. So we have to give up both these, the acceptance and rejection
- Sastra means direction - both past, present and future. Everything is there. Therefore we have to consult the Vedic literature. It is perfect. It is without any mistake, without any cheating. This is sastra
- Sastra says, krsnas tu bhagavan svayam (SB 1.3.28). So we have to follow these mahajana. Otherwise we cannot get the right knowledge. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah (Cc. Madhya 17.186). We have to follow great authorities
- Sastras are meant for human being, not for the cats and dogs and hogs, as law is meant for the human being, not for the cats and dogs. Therefore we have to follow the sastric injunction
- Seeing God is not difficult, but we have to prepare our eyes. And how that eyes . . . how that eye is prepared, that is stated in the Vedic literature, that if you kindly smear your eyeballs with the ointment of love
- Service we have to render, and the whole process is to accept the superior quality of service in Krishna Consciousness
- She tests very rigidly to see whether we have taken to Krsna consciousness to disturb Krsna or are actually serious. That is Maya's business
- Simply theorizing, making plan, and they do not know what is the suffering. Such a rascal civilization. So we have to introduce real civilization. Therefore we are struggling so hard. So make in such a way
- Simply we can waste our time by so-called meditation, but real meditation is not achievable at the present age. In this age of Kali, simply by chanting Hare Krsna you can attain the perfection. So these are the prescription. We have to follow
- Simply we have to agree, "My Lord, from today, I dedicate my life for Your service," you are immediately brahma-bhutah. Immediately, from that moment. It is so nice. Not that you have to take some time how to become brahma-bhutah
- Simply we have to become purified feelings that, "I must serve Krsna very nicely." Then He will give facilities, He will give you intelligence, He will give you everything. Because He is the source of everything
- Simply we have to change the consciousness, that "I am doing for Krsna, not for my personal." In this way, if we develop Krsna consciousness, then we come to our original consciousness. Then we become happy
- Simply we have to change the consciousness. Everything we are now doing in the matter of sense gratification, we have to prepare ourself, we have to train ourself for the sense gratification of Krsna. That is Krsna consciousness
- Simply we have to study Bhagavad-gita thoroughly and understand it thoroughly. Then the whole human society will be in peace and they will make progress not only in this life but in the next life also
- Simply, just observe the four regulative principles - no illicit sex, no gambling, no meat-eating, and no intoxication. This much we have to practice if we are actually serious to go..., advance in spiritual life
- Since such an experiment (to see the planets hovering in space) is not possible, naturally we have to accept the statement of SB as it is because it is so accepted by spiritual leaders like Sridhara Svami, Jiva Gosvami, Visvanatha Cakravarti and others
- Since the manifestations of Krsna are so great, we should know that His enjoyment is far greater than ours. We have to try to understand what kind of enjoyment Krsna likes
- Since the moon is so distant, how space vehicles could go there is a doubtful mystery. Modern scientific calculations are subject to one change after another, and therefore they are uncertain. We have to accept the calculations of the Vedic literature
- Since we have to accept some authority, why not accept His (Krsna's)? Simply by hearing of His glories from Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam and by chanting His names - Hare Krsna - we can swiftly perfect our lives
- So actually, as pure spirit soul, I want to forget, but because I do not accept the real path, how to get out of this material existence, therefore we have to accept something, concocted means. That will not save us
- So by sense enjoyment, nobody can become happy. Because we are in the material existence. And our senses are false senses. Real senses - spiritual senses. So we have to awaken our spiritual consciousness
- So Caitanya Mahaprabhu recommends that... Caitanya Maha... This is the shastric, Vedic culture, that we have to purify ourselves from the bodily designation. That is called ceto-darpana-marjanam
- So even the modes of goodness, that is also a cause of our bondage. Therefore we have to transcend even the quality of goodness. Even the quality of goodness we have to transcend. That transcendental position is Krsna consciousness
- So far Vedic literature is concerned, God is person and accepted by the acaryas. We have to follow the acaryas; otherwise our own interpretation, our own tiny brain, we cannot conceive
- So from the very beginning we have to practice Krsna consciousness if we are actually serious to go back to home, back to Godhead
- So if we want to cure this disease of repeated birth and death, then we have to restrict, restrict our bodily enjoyment, because we cannot enjoy. It is simply so-called enjoyment
- So if we want to learn some specific subject we have to accept a proper authority or a bona fide teacher. Similarly if we want to learn the science of God, we have to approach a person who knows the science
- So in this material world we have to work very hard under these three kinds of miserable conditions of life, and we are actually doing that. Still, we are thinking that we are happy
- So long we are in this material encagement we are supposed to be impurified. Because we are not purified, therefore we have to accept birth, death, old age and disease
- So long we are in this material ocean, we have to accept these laws of nature, repetition of birth and death. This is called bhava-sagara
- So long we are in this material world we have to work. Karma. Karma means to gain some profit. Karma, akarma, vikarma. Vikarma means against the law. Just like ordinary laws. If you are working honestly, business or karma, that's all right
- So long we are in this material world, not in the spiritual world, still we have to live very honestly. Then there is hope for raising oneself to the spiritual platform
- So long we are on the material plane, or gross bodily plane, or subtle mental plane, oh, we have to suffer. We have to go to the spiritual platform, and that spiritual platform is Krsna consciousness
- So long we have got lusty desires, we have to change our body, and that we do not know, what kind of body we are going to get next birth. Therefore, without knowing this, if we become mad after material profit, then less intelligent
- So long we have got this body we have to do something. Without doing something we cannot live. The material world will not allow you, that you cannot do anything and you'll be provided
- So long we have got this body, we have to be seeking after eating, sleeping, mating and defending. But not that we shall waste our time simply for these four things. There is a fifth platform, which is brahma-jijnasa, inquiry about the Supreme
- So long we have got this material body, we have to eat. We cannot starve. That is not possible. Similarly, we have to take rest, sleeping; we have to enjoy or give satisfaction to our senses; and similarly, we have to defend. This is called visaya
- So long we have got this material body, we have to work. We cannot stop working. That is not possible
- So long we shall remain mayar-dasa, we have to change this body one after another. It may be of higher standard or it may be of lower standard. That will depend on my work
- So long we shall travel on the chariot of the mind, mano-ratha, then there is no question of our being freed from anxiety. Therefore we have to give up this chariot of mind. The chariot of mind will not give us satisfaction
- So sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam. So similarly, we have to find out guru for perfect instruction. That is the only way
- So there are three kinds of miserable condition in this material world, and either of them or all of them, they are always troubling us. This is our position. We have to understand that
- So there is future life. You should take it. You should try to understand it. It is not very difficult, but by the modern education we have become so dull-headed, we cannot understand the simple truth that we have to change this body
- So these animals, they are passing on as big scientists, philosophers, theologician, and so on, so on. We have to stop them. Na mam duskrtino mudhah prapadyante naradhamah (BG 7.15). This is the qualification of a person who does not accept God
- So we can change our home also into Vaikuntha. We can change our home. It is not difficult. Because as Krsna can be all-pervading, Vaikuntha is all-pervading. But we have to simply realize it by the authorized process
- So we have to cure this heart disease, hrd-roga-kama. And that will be done simply by chanting and hearing the Hare Krsna mantra. Ceto-darpana-marjanam
- So we have to learn this trnad api sunicena taror api sahisnuna and follow the footprint of Prahlada Maharaja. Then surely we shall be accepted by Nrsimhadeva, Krsna, without any failure
- So we have to meet the situation as Krsna desired by. Sometimes He may say, "You sit down." So we have to carry out only. The Krsna is not dead
- So we have to purify our feelings. That is Krsna consciousness: "How I can serve?" And if we purify... Purify means purification will be done by Him. We cannot purify. Purification will be done by Him. Simply we have to become purified feelings
- So we have to save ourself from this misconception of life. Then we can make progress in the matter of understanding what is God
- So we have to somehow or other push on and Krishna will give us a chance. For yourself also you can try and take a visa as a teacher and some of your students may demand your presence. We have to play some tricks for Krishna's sake. What can be done?
- So we have to study Caitanya Mahaprabhu's life. Except - this is the clear and simple truth - except chanting Hare Krsna mantra, there is no other business of the human being
- So we have to understand that behind every value there is spirit, Supreme. And the Supreme Spirit is the real value. So Vedic instruction is isavasyam idam sarvam (Isopanisad 1): "Everything belongs to God."
- So we offer our respect in that way, vande rupa-sanatanau raghu-yugau sri-jiva-gopalakau. That is the way. We cannot jump over the highest authority directly. That is not possible. That is not the etiquette or rules, regulations we have to go
- So we should not imitate, but at least we must be very careful to complete the sixteen rounds, the minimum. Nama-gane sada rucih. We have to increase our taste for singing and chanting
- So-called scientists say that, "God has created this universe. The laws are there. So we have to study the laws. What we shall do with the God?" Is it not?
- Some how or other, our knowledge is now covered in this material existence, so we have to get out of this ignorance. For that purpose we require tapasya, tapo divyam (SB 5.5.1). Tapasya means voluntarily accepting some inconveniences
- Some way or other, we have to increase our affection for Krsna, love of Godhead. So through the channel of the affection of one's son or children, one can increase - that is Krsna consciousness
- Somehow or other, we have to surrender to Krsna. Then our life is successful. Otherwise not. So we do it knowingly or unknowingly; the effect is the same
- Sometimes in spite of our full Krishna Consciousness we fall a victim to maya but that is temporary just as seasonal changes such calamities do come & pass away & we have to endure them
- Sometimes there will be complaints, and sometimes not. In the Gita Krishna says these things come and go like the seasonal changes. So we have to tolerate
- Sometimes we have to observe the Vedic ritualistic ceremonies to please such unintelligent men who want Vedic mantras chanted and huge amounts of money spent for such ceremonies
- Sometimes you apply, your vision becomes very cleansed, and you can see things very nicely. So we have to cleanse our eyes to see Krsna, by the ointment of love of Krsna
- Sometimes, in order to preach, we have to accept many material activities, but we should remember that everything is for Krsna. If we remember this, there is no chance of our being victimized by material activities
- Sparks are beautiful as long as they are in the fire. Similarly, we have to remain in the association of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and always engage in devotional service, for then we shall always be brilliant and illuminating
- Specifically, we have to receive the messages of the Lord with a purified heart
- Such a saying as "Man is mortal" is accepted from higher authorities. Everyone accepts this, but no one has experienced that all men are mortal. By tradition, we have to accept this
- Suffering is the nature of this material world, and whatever enjoyment we are trying to achieve is simply illusion. After all, we have to suffer the miseries of birth, old age, disease and death
- Sukadeva Gosvami is acarya. Vyasadeva is acarya. He's making the next acarya by teaching him - adhyapayam asa, sukam adhyapayam asa (SB 1.7.8) - so that he is becoming acarya. So we have to go the acarya and take lesson
- Sukadeva Gosvami says that in material or sinful life we act in a way in which we are forced to commit sins and suffer as a result. This is so, and if we want to stop this cycle of suffering and victimization, we have to advance in knowledge
- Sun is 93,000,000 miles away, but on account of the sun's energy spread, we are feeling the presence of sun. Similarly, we have to associate with God, Krsna, by chanting His holy name because Krsna, being Absolute, He is not different from His name
- Suppose if everyone was dead, what was the value of this apartment? Nobody would come and ask for rent. Valueless. So we have to understand that behind every value there is spirit, Supreme
- Supreme God, the supreme controller, is not controlled by anyone. I am controlling, but I am being controlled by somebody else. That is God. So therefore we have to admit . . . we must admit that we are not free. We are controlled

- Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya. So we have to approach the real person who has seen. Then you'll get the right goal of life
- Tapa, we prescribe for tapasya no illicit sex, no meat-eating, no intoxication and no gambling. This is tapasya. This is tapasya. We have to accept if we want superior position of life. Tapo divyam
- Tasmat kenapy upayena manah krsne nivesayet: "Somehow or other we have to attach our minds to Krsna consciousness." (SB 7.1.32) Then Krsna will help us and give us intelligence from within, as He indicates in Bhagavad-gita - 10.10
- Tattvatah, Krsna as He is, cannot be understood by the other methods, namely by mental speculation or mystic yogic exercises. Krsna cannot be understood in that way. If we want to understand Krsna, then we have to accept the Krsna method, bhakti method
- That (how offering this capati to Krsna, and Swamiji said namo brahmanya devaya, and it becomes spiritual) we have to understand by the result. Phalena pariciyate. If you eat this spiritual food, you'll get spiritual strength
- That (ignorance) we have to cure. That is the special advantage of human life. The dogs, the cats, they cannot be cured. They cannot be given the knowledge
- That is the law of nature. Nityo nityanam cetanas cetananam. Then why don't you accept the supreme authority? This subordinate authority . . . we have to accept somebody as our leader. It is not possible that we can live without leadership
- That is the ultimate solution, that we have to surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- That is the yogic principle, to think of the Supreme within the heart. He is there within the heart. Both the individual living entity, and God is sitting within this heart. That's a fact. We have to search it out, catch Him by yogic process
- That qualification (purification from devotional service) we have to attain, then Krsna, purusottama, will speak from within, just like He spoke from within of Brahma: tene brahma hrda adi-kavaye - SB 1.1.1
- The asuric, demonic, civilization, they do not know in which way we have to guide ourself for attaining the perfection of life, pravrtti, and nivrtti, and which we shall not take - favorable and unfavorable
- The best course, therefore, is to complete our KC and return home, back to Godhead. That will save us. Otherwise, if we come back again for another life in Kali-yuga, we shall find difficult days ahead, and we shall have to suffer more and more
- The Bhagavad-gita teaches that we have to purify this materially contaminated consciousness. In pure consciousness, our actions will be dovetailed to the will of isvara, and that will make us happy
- The body is finished, but we have to accept another body out of the 8,400,000 forms. In this way, our life is going on, but we are thinking in terms of wife, children, and so forth. This is all illusion
- The business is that we have to increase our attachment for God. This is our main business. We are attached to so many things. That is material life
- The captain is the spiritual master, and this body is a very good ship. These are the examples given. We have to cross over this material ocean. So we must have a captain and good ship, and favorable air
- The complete knowledge, the person who is in complete knowledge, we have to believe Him. That's all. And that is the system. Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh. The system of Vedic knowledge is to receive in complete
- The computer machine is not brain; the man who is pushing the buttons, he has got the brain. So we have to learn like that. Therefore we have to take knowledge from Krsna, and Krsna is giving knowledge directly in the Bhagavad-gita
- The conclusion is that when this body will be no more fit for existing we shall have to accept another body. This is called tatha dehantara-praptih. So we have to change. That is nature's law. The soul is immortal
- The definite knowledge you can get from Krsna, the perfect. Therefore all the acaryas accept Krsna. We have to follow the acaryas, acaryopasanam
- The example is given that the sunshine is soaking urine. Can you imitate that, you drink urine? If Christ has done something, he is Lord Jesus Christ, he might have done it for some purpose, but we cannot follow that. We have to follow what he has ordered
- The faint illumination of knowledge that appears at first is certain to lead to full enlightenment, but we have to be patient. We must carefully avoid letting pride enter our hearts because of some initial perceptions of the inconceivable Absolute
- The honesty, to become pious, to become religious, these are simply primitive idea. - We have to open this
- The human species of life are only 400,000 species, or types, as you say. In this way the total is 8,400,000's of types of bodies, and we have to pass through, by transmigration, from one body to another, another, another, another
- The idea of society, friendship, and love is not at all false, but the place where we search for it is false. We have to give up this false position and rise to the reality. That is the result of cultivating the human spirit
- The intention of the Bhagavad-gita is known by Krsna, the author. So we have to understand the intention of the author. We cannot exact any meaning by our own scholarship which is different from the intention of the author
- The Kali begins with this animal killing. That is Kali-yuga. Meat-eating. Therefore, to avoid the influence of Kali we have to give up this habit
- The laws are given by Bhagavan and are written in books like Manu-samhita and other Vedic literatures. According to the law, we have to obey the government, and according to dharma, we have to obey Krsna, God
- The living entity undergoes many difficulties under the pretense of being an enjoyer. So to get rid of all these troubles and difficulties that we suffer due to our work, we have to adopt the process of karma-yoga
- The man in the mode of goodness becomes a first class prisoner &, becoming happy in the prison house, wants to stay there. What to speak of those in the modes of passion and ignorance. The point is that we have to transcend even the quality of goodness
- The man was hanged who said it (world) is round. That was their perfect knowledge. So we have to believe such perfect knowledge. When they say their position has changed. We cannot accept such knowledge. It changes every twenty-five years
- The material disease cannot be cured by artificial medicine. We have to take the real cure straight from Krsna
- The Mayavadi philosophers say that, for the benefit or for the facility of the neophyte progressing in the spiritual knowledge, we have to imagine some form of the Brahma. That is not the fact. We do not find these things in the Vedic literature
- The miseries of birth, the miseries of death and the miseries of old age and miseries of diseases - we have to suffer. And as soon as you get spiritual body, all these miseries over
- The name of Krsna and Krsna are nondifferent, but we cannot realize this intellectually. We have to practice chanting Hare Krsna to realize it
- The only effective solutions (of the three miseries) are those mentioned in Bhagavad-gita, and we have to adopt them in our practical lives for our own benefit. The three miseries of material nature are not found in the pastimes of the Supreme Lord
- The only thing is that our present stage is forgetfulness. We have forgotten, that's all. So we have to revive. We have to revive our spiritual life, our spiritual consciousness. And the simple process is this sravanam
- The origin of everything is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Through yajna, sacrifice, we have to satisfy the Supreme Person
- The perfection of yoga system means to get eternal life, blissful life and full of knowledge. So we have to execute any yoga system with that aim. Not that I attend some yoga class to reduce fat or to keep my body very fit for sense gratification
- The philosophers, they are intellectually trying to be happy. That also we have to transcend. We have (to) come to the spiritual platform, brahma-bhutah. And not only come to the spiritual platform, we must have spiritual engagement
- The point is that we have to follow the instructions with faith. Then wisdom will come. When we attain to the stage of wisdom, the result is param santim - supreme peace
- The real disease is the material condition, in which we have to suffer birth, death, disease and old age
- The real necessity is bhakti. Patram puspam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayacchati. This is real necessity - bhaktya. Bhaktya mam abhijanati yavan yas ca... (BG 18.55). Therefore we have to develop our bhakti, love for Krsna
- The real purpose is to realize God. So that (many Chinese, many Japanese, Africans and Canadians are chanting) is being done. So we have to accept the method recommended for a particular age and time. Then we become successful
- The real regulated life is that if sixteen rounds is not completed, then we have to go . . . forego sleeping. The main thing is that we should always be careful that we are going . . . we have taken up a very responsible task, Krsna consciousness
- The real truth is that ideal man of character there must be. Because at the present moment there is no character, there is no moral education; therefore we have to adapt according to them. No
- The sarga, the repetition of birth, is due to our strong desire for material enjoyment. So long we do not discard this desire of material enjoyment, we have to take our birth repeatedly
- The sastras recommend which names we should chant, such as Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare. It is not that we have to search for some name or manufacture one. Rather, we must follow the saintly persons & sastras in chanting His holy name
- The scriptures are many varieties. Srutayor vibhinna nasau munir yasya matam na bhinnam. And every philosopher must differ with another philosopher. Therefore, mahajano yena gatah sa panthah: we have to follow the footprints of great authorities
- The society must be divided. There is division already, natural. We have to simply pick up, that - This boy is Brahmana, this boy is Ksatriya, this boy is Vaisya and this boy is Sudra
- The solution is we have to surrender unto the Supreme. Just like if you are arrested by the police, then it is very difficult to get out of their clutches. But if you are a good citizen, surrendered soul to the state, there is no problem
- The soul is never annihilated. Avyayam: indestructible, immutable. So Krsna is explaining in different ways the nature of the soul. We have to take it seriously, then we get perfect knowledge
- The spirit of Bhagavad-gita is mentioned in the Bhagavad-gita itself. It is just like this. If we want to take a particular medicine, then we have to follow the particular direction mentioned on the label of the medicine
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam, the First Canto, Second Canto are two lotus feet of the Lord. We have to read very carefully, because we have to see, first of all, padambujam
- The sun does not hide, but a person can try to hide from the sun by closing his door. One must open the door in order to see the sun. Similarly, Krsna is there, God is there, & we have to come to Krsna & take the lessons of BG to learn who & what God is
- The Supreme Lord is within the atom as Paramatma, and therefore He is also within the individual soul. Being within everything, He knows everything. Since He knows everything, we have to take lessons from Him

- The Vedic process does not involve research work. In mundane scholarship, we have to show our academic learning by some research, but the Vedic process is different
- The visible things around us are expansions of the inferior energy of the Supreme Lord, but the Lord also has a superior energy - consciousness. We have to understand consciousness from higher authorities, but we can also directly perceive it
- The water is the same, but due to seasonal changes, sometimes the water is very pleasing and sometimes it is very painful. So long we shall remain in the material world, the pains and pleasure on account of this material body we have to feel
- The whole scheme of Bhagavad-gita is like that, that we have to stand on the spiritual consciousness of life
- The whole Vedic scripture describes that happiness derived of sense perception out of the body, that is not real happiness. If we are to enjoy real happiness, then we have to transcend these bodily pleasures
- The whole world is revolving about these things (illicit sex, meat-eating, intoxication and gambling), yet despite this we have to spread this Krsna consciousness movement
- The whole world is suffering because this misconception of life, misconception of life, that he has forgotten his eternal relationship with God. So we have to revive it. We have to revive it, this process
- The words, the plans and the instruction which is coming directly from Krsna, that thing we have to accept. We shall not make any our own plan. That is the way of making progress
- The world is not false. Factually we have to take so many things from the world for our maintenance, so how we can say that the world is false? Similarly, how can one think of the Lord as being without form?
- There are acaryas in India. Actually, practically, our whole civilization is guided by the acaryas. Acaryavan puruso veda. We have to accept acarya
- There are four kinds of sinful activities. Basic principle of sinful life is avaidha, illicit sex life. Avaidha stri-sanga. Striyah suna, unnecessary animal killing; pana, drinking, intoxicant; and gambling. We have to give up these four principles
- There are four Vaisnava sampradayas. So we have to approach the authoritative representative of Brahma, Krsna. Then we can get the real knowledge
- There are many things we have to accept solely on grounds of superior authority
- There are sleeping pills also, so many things. So actually, as pure spirit soul, I want to forget, but because I do not accept the real path, how to get out of this material existence, therefore we have to accept something, concocted means
- There are, nava-laksani, 900,000 species of life within the water. We begin our aquatic life. Because the whole world was in the beginning, full of water, so we had to live within the water
- There cannot be any peace in material life. That is not possible. We have to take therefore shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord. If we want to be happy, if we want to be peaceful, then this is the only way
- There is another life, and the species of life are in your form, 8,400,000 of species, and we have to accept, according to our karma, a type of body given by the material nature
- There is fighting, due to ajnana. So first of all we have to drive away this ajnana. Therefore Krsna is teaching Arjuna that "You are not this body. You are spirit soul." This is the first spiritual instruction by the authority to anyone
- There is no objection for the material comforts, but we have to see whether they are actually comforts or miserable condition
- There is no question of interpretation. We have to understand Bhagavad-gita as it is. If we cannot understand, that is a defect in me, not in the Bhagavad-gita. So we have to find out the defect in me
- There is no question of separate attempt - philanthropy, philosophy and nationalism, this "ism," that "ism." We have discovered so many things and diversion of the real duty. That we shall have to concentrate. That is siddhanta
- There is no religion. Strictly speaking, simply some dogmas, maybe some moral principle. That is another thing. But moral principle we have to transcend. We don't say that don't follow moral principle
- There is yoga, and there is yogamaya. Yogamaya means forgetfulness. First of all we have to understand what is the soul
- There may be many obstacles, but they can all be transcended by Krsna's mercy. We only have to be determined in our devotion. The rest will follow. This is the essence of Lord Kapila's instructions to His mother
- These are the instructions we get from Bhagavad-gita, and whoever reads Bhagavad-gita has to accept Krsna as the guru. We have to render service to a guru and surrender ourselves
- These are the symptoms of mahatmas. So we have to make position that bhajana is so important. And Bhagavad-gita is meant for all solution of material problems, but we are not accepting it
- These dealings (between Krsna and the gopis) are given in the Tenth Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and this indicates that we have to understand Krsna as He is by first reading the preceding nine cantos
- These rascals are jackals. Now they are talking nonsense. We can detect that, "Here is a jackal." So we have to expose them. They are not leader; they are jackals
- These three classes of men - rich, middle class and poor - everywhere, either it is rich country or poor country. Then we have to accept: by nature it is so arranged that these three classes of men will exist
- They (modern scientists) are now silent. They cannot go there (moon planet); neither ever they went there. This is the conclusion. So that is a controversial point, controversial, but we have to see the result
- They (the reciters) could understand this by the instructions given by the great sages and learned brahmanas. We have to understand the incarnations of God by the instructions of authorized persons. We cannot manufacture a God by our own concoctions
- They are so dull they cannot understand this simple truth, that as the child, boy, is accepting another body, we have to accept another body. They cannot understand. So dull brain. It will take five hundred years to teach them this very simple fact
- They cannot make even one egg, and they are going to manufacture life? And we have to believe it? They are lunatics, this is demoniac. They want to compete with God
- They should know perfectly well that - We are after false enjoyment. We have to come to the platform of real enjoyment
- Things which are beyond our perception we have to accept authority. Therefore the Vedic process is, if the world's perfect order is there in the Vedas - not if; anything which is in the Vedas, that is perfect - we have to accept. Vedic, sruti
- Thinking of Krsna does not require any riches or any high parentage or any beauty or any education. So we have to develop such Krsna consciousness
- This (approaching Krsna through the sadhu) is confirmed by the Vaisnava acarya Narottama dasa Thakura: chadiya vaisnava-seva nistara payeche keba. We cannot directly approach Krsna; we have to go through the transparent via media, Krsna's representative
- This (dharma, artha, kama, moksa) is material principles. We have to surpass this material principle, then come to the spiritual platform. That is sarva-dharman parityajya
- This (engaged in Krsna's service birth after birth) is real ananda. Unless we are fully qualified devotees, we cannot enter into the Vaikuntha planets. We have to live outside in the brahma-jyotir
- This (sac-cid-ananda-vigraha) is God's constitution. This our constitution. The difference between God and ourself is that God never accepts this material body, but sometimes we, under certain circumstances, we have to accept this material body
- This daridra-narayana-seva has come under this misunderstanding, that - We have to serve God, so when God comes as daridra, then we shall give. When God comes with Laksmi, with Sita, with Radharani, no, no, that is not required
- This is gradual progress of spiritual mind, and this state is called prema, prema-gadgadaya vaca. So we have to make progress as it is exemplified by Prahlada Maharaja
- This is intelligence, how we have to work, but without reaping any good or bad result. That means working for Krsna. That is called akarma
- This is Krsna consciousness: how to train the mind to die thinking of Krsna. Then your life is successful. Therefore we have to chant Hare Krsna, always think of Krsna
- This is the ultimate goal of life, that we have to stop the cycle. Punar-janma-jayaya (Ramayana). To conquer over next birth
- This is Vedic instruction, Vedic order: "Yes, cow dung is pure." We have to take it. This is parampara. "Yes, conchshell is pure. Although it is bone, never mind. It is pure." The order
- This knowledge, we have to acquire, that "We have got the greatest powerful friend in Krsna, and He is with me." This is knowledge. Just like when you chant Krsna, Hare Krsna, actually the fact is Krsna is dancing on your tongue by sound vibration
- This life is a preparation for the next, and if we want to enjoy our transcendental senses, we have to purify ourselves to return home, back to Godhead. For this purpose, Devahuti is submitting to her son just as a disciple submits to his master
- This life is not meant for wasting time like cats and dog. Because after all, we have to give up this life. But before giving up this life, we must gain something. That is described in the Upanisad. Etad viditva yah prayati sa brahmanah
- This material world is full of danger. It is dangerous place. It is the place of miseries. You cannot become happy in a place which is meant for miseries. That we have to understand
- This material world is pavarga, means here we have to labor very hard. Sometimes by laboring, as you have seen in animals, bulls and horses, they produce foam in the mouth, that is pha
- This material world is the burning fire of anxiety. So in order to get rid of it, we have to take shelter of Hare Krsna mantra. So as soon as you take shelter of Hare Krsna, naturally we are relieved from this blazing fire of material existence
- This purpose (of guide the conditioned student) is stated in Bhagavad-gita, and we have to accept it as it is; otherwise there is no point in trying to understand the Bhagavad-gita and its speaker, Lord Krsna. BG 1972 Preface
- This seven days' discussion (between Sukadeva Gosvami and Pariksit Maharaja) is imitated by the professional Bhagavata reciters in India. But that is not required. We have to hear Srimad-Bhagavatam daily
- This we have to practice: everything on account of the Supreme. This transcendental nature we have to develop. This is the trick of doing work under these present circumstances
- Those who are addicted to sinful life, they cannot understand God. So therefore we have to stop sinful activities. If you keep them in sinful activities, and if you expect that God will be revealed to them, it is not possible
- Those who are bringing spiritual master as spiritual matter to be, to be subjected to the experimental knowledge, it is not possible. Experimental knowledge is defective, therefore we have to understand spiritual subject matter
- Those who are hesitating, those who have no faith, oh, it is very difficult for them. We have to accept. Because the method is standard, and it is given by the highest authority, Krsna, so we must have such faith
- Those who are mudhas, we have to kill them. This is our business. Kill all the mudhas and give Krsna to the sane man. Yes. That will prove that you are really Krsna's
- Those who are tattva-darsih, those who have seen the truth, we have to take knowledge from them - that is direction in the Bhagavad-gita - not from the third-class men
- Those who are, I mean to say, favored with poor fund of knowledge, they cannot conceive about the Personality of Godhead. Therefore we have to approach authorities just like Lord Caitanya
- Those who have developed love for Krsna, they can see always, twenty-four hours, Krsna and nothing but Krsna. This is the process. So we have to increase our attachment, our love for Krsna
- Through our own endeavor it is not possible to see the sun after it has set. We have to wait until the sun reveals itself in the morning at sunrise
- To acquire a degree at an academic university, we first have to establish a relationship with that institution. We have to abide by the direction of our instructors there and work favorably according to their direction
- To be cured of a disease, we may have to agree to undergo some surgical operation. Although the operation may be very painful, we have to tolerate it. This is called titiksavah
- To be immuned to the infection of the gunas, we have to engage in bhakti-yoga. Once we attain the perfectional stage, we attain ecstatic love of Godhead. In that state we cannot remain without Krsna for a moment. That is called bhava
- To become Brahman does not mean to become void. No. To become Brahman means superior energy. With superior energy, we have to work with superior endeavor and superior energy and superior position
- To become disobedient to God means that is diseased condition, because we have to become obedient to somebody, even if our so-called disobedient state, don't care for God
- To deal with the asuras is not so easy job, but we have to do that. You should not be discouraged
- To gain a position where there will be no fear, we have to accept a fearful method. So, in the material world whatever we think, they are not very happy proposition, that's everything is fear
- To get rid of one miserable condition, we have to put ourselves in another kind of miserable condition
- To give up all these bad habits means we have to associate with sadhus or devotees, saintly persons. Then we can give it up. This is called anartha-nivrtti, means giving up all unwanted bad habits
- To manage things in the material world we have to... Guna, karma. Karma there must be. Therefore the karma should be done, executed, according to quality
- To put ourself again into the spiritual energy means we have to get free from the designation. What are the designation? "I am Hindu," "I am Muslim," "I am Christian," "I am American," "I am Indian," "I am this," "I am that" - these are all designation
- To remain free from the infection of these gunas, then we have to engage ourselves in the bhakti-yoga
- To rise early in the morning, that is also tapasya. Not that every day we have to ring bell - dung, dung, dung, dung - "Get up! Get up!" "No, I am sleeping." No, you have to accept. These are the tapasyas. We cannot avoid
- To work very hard like dogs and hog for sense gratification is not the ambition of human life. Human life is meant for little austerity. Tapo divyam putraka yena suddhyet sattvam. We have to purify our existence. That is the mission of human life
- Tongue is the beginning of realization. Sevonmukhe hi jihvadau (Brs. 1.2.234). As well as controlling the tongue, we have to spiritualize the tongue. If you keep the tongue materialized, then it is defective
- Truth is there, but when we misunderstand the truth or misuse the truth, then we are in trouble. That is Vaisnava philosophy. We have to find out what is the truth in everything. And that can be understood when you are advanced. Vasudevah sarvam iti
- Try to accept the process by which we can get free from this conditioned life. The process is that we have to give up all our false consciousness
- Try to recruit more members for our Society because we have to open many centers, and from each center we shall organize this moving Samkirtan Party

- Under the instruction of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, they understood that "So many mass of people are suffering without Krsna consciousness. So we have to do something for them." Therefore they gave up. Not a fancy, - I become naked, that's all
- Unfortunately we are trying to become master. Instead of submitting ourself to become the eternal.... We are eternal servant. We cannot be master. If we do not become servant of Krsna, then we have to become the servant of our senses
- Unfortunately, in our present condition we have forgotten Krsna. But now we have to revive our spiritual life by remembering Him
- Unless one has developed a sense of service to Krsna, one cannot do it (engage in mangala-arati). It is not so easy. This is the proof that one has become freed from all sinful reaction. Because phalena pariciyate. We have to understand by the result
- Unless we cleanse our hearts of all the dirty things that you have accumulated, then we have to continue the sufferings of this material world. But if we cleanse, we understand what is our position
- Unless you become attracted by the beauty of Krsna, we must have to be satisfied by the beauty of . . . this false beauty of this material world

- Vaisnava who is preaching, it may be in a different way, according to time and place and the party - they have to change something, desa-kala-patra - but we have to see the essence
- Vita-raga-bhaya-krodha. Here we have got attraction, material, so we have to withdraw this attraction. How it will be possible? If we become more attracted to Krsna, then this attraction will go away
- Vyasadeva has written (about Krsna) and the acaryas have accepted. Then I have become such a great scholar that I say it is fictitious. And we have to believe these rascals. So don't go to rascal. If you want real knowledge, take it from Bhagavan

- We all have some relationship with Krsna, but presently that is covered. Therefore we have to revive it. Simple appreciation of the Supreme is called santa-rasa
- We all have to suffer or enjoy the reactions of our work, be they good or bad. As long as we have to suffer or enjoy these reactions, we are bound to these material bodies
- We also have to hear about Krsna. These two processes will increase in such a way that we will automatically become great devotees. Anicchato me gatim anvim prayunkte. This is actually a scientific method. It is not imagination
- We are all ruled by the senses. Senses dictate and we follow. This is the general condition, and we have to become ruler of the senses. Then it is successful. Generally people are ruled by the senses
- We are contaminating ourself with different laws of material nature, and according to that law, we have to accept the body. The material laws are not under your control; you are under the control of material laws
- We are educating people how to get out of the clutches of illusion that continually, one after another, we have to take birth. Real problem is this
- We are enforcing something by controlling the mind, some ideas, "There is God, and we have to go to back home, back to Godhead." They are accusing us of brainwash, "mental control." But this is the fact. We are not brainwashing; we are clearing the brain
- We are eternal, and we have to attain our eternal life. That we have not attained it is our whole problem. That problem can be solved when we are Krsna conscious
- We are eternal, we are existing, and on account of impurity we have got this material body, but it is subjected to the laws of material nature, and we have to change one after another. This is pravrtti-marga
- We are eternally connected with the Supreme Lord. Somehow or other, we are now in material contamination. The process is that we have to go back again. So that linking process is called yoga
- We are eternally related to Krsna, but at the present moment this relationship is simply forgotten or suppressed. Consequently we think that we have no relationship with Krsna, but this is not a fact
- We are given the opportunity by nature to utilize our consciousness, to utilize our intelligence, to understand God. But if we do not utilize, if we live like cats and dog, then next life we have to accept, by nature's law, the body of cats and dogs
- We are hankering after happiness, but happiness cannot be enjoyed so long our existence is not purified. So for purification of our existence we have to undergo tapasya
- We are imperfect in every respect, so therefore we have to receive knowledge from the perfect. That is the process, real process
- We are keeping our faith not to a third-class person. To the supreme authority, Krsna. We have to understand first. Therefore we have discussed this point. Tad viddhi pranipatena - BG 4.34
- We are like mischievous children, and therefore we must have spiritual engagement. Simply understanding that we are spirit soul will not help. Understanding that we are spirit, we have to sustain the spirit by spiritual engagement
- We are not creating anything. It (BG & CC) is not a manufactured thing, concocted thing. It is standard, followed by great acaryas like Caitanya. So we have to accept. That is the way
- We are now disconnected with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now we have to connect again our relationship. That is called yoga. That yoga is described in the BG as karma-yoga, jnana-yoga and astanga-yoga, and at last bhakti-yoga
- We are now given a most exalted life form, that of a human being, but if we do not act accordingly, we have to take a lower body. This is karmana daiva-netrena - SB 3.31.1
- We are now implicated in so many sinful life, and we have to reap the result. We have to suffer for it in dehantara-praptih
- We are now out of the orbit, or the shining influence, of Krsna, or the SP of Godhead. We have to put ourselves again into that atmosphere of Krsna; then we get full-fledged happiness, knowledge & eternal life. That is the process of Krsna consciousness
- We are now viyoga, without any contact with the Supreme Lord, Personality of Godhead, material conditioned life; therefore we have to make connection with Him. That is called yoga
- We are on this side of the sea. We want to go the other side of the sea. Similarly this bhava-samudra, we are on this part of the sea, material world. If we want to go to the other side, spiritual world, so we have to become niskincana
- We are part and parcel of God, Krsna, Visnu. We are suffering on account of our relationship with God. This is the cause of our suffering. Then we have to make plan how to revive our lost relationship with God
- We are pledged to Krsna consciousness, and therefore we cannot reject Krsna's word. We accept Krsna when He says that we have to travel from one body to another
- We are serving, but serving our senses, lusty desires. We have to change this mood of service to serve Krsna. That is Krsna consciousness
- We are spreading Krsna consciousness movement for understanding this simple philosophy, that we are not this body. We have to rectify, or purify, this knowledge that, "I am this body." That is Krsna consciousness movement
- We are under the material energy at the present moment. So we have to transfer ourself to the spiritual energy, because we are spirit soul
- We can drive this machine called the body for so many years; then it becomes old, and we have to change it for another machine. This is the process of birth and death
- We can only see the gross material body, and when this gross material body ends, we say that everything is finished. In order to understand these things, we have to approach a guru, just as Arjuna approached Sri Krsna
- We can see millions and millions of stars through a telescope, but we cannot approach them. We have to understand our incapabilities
- We can supply millions of pictures of Krishna, Visnu, and Their multi-incarnations, as well as Their transcendental Pastimes. So we have to create a unique position for this paper, at least in the western world
- We cannot be happy within this cloud-covered material existence. We are spirit by nature. We are sparks, spiritual sparks. We have to associate with Krsna; then we can have our full-fledged
- We cannot find out or understand Krsna by our own endeavor. We have to qualify ourselves through Krsna consciousness and wait for Him to reveal Himself
- We cannot have perfect knowledge by our mental speculation. That is not possible. We have to receive knowledge from authorities. That is the process
- We cannot have the knowledge of the Absolute Truth simply by argument or simply by philosophy or simply by big brain or speaking power. No, no. All these things will not do. Simply we have to follow the great authority
- We cannot imagine, we cannot concoct, about God. We have to hear from authoritative scripture, authoritative version. Then we will understand
- We cannot imitate God. We have to simply follow His order. That is dharma. And if you imitate Krsna, that is adharma
- We cannot increase our attachment for Krsna without Krsna's mercy. We cannot become devotees without Krsna's mercy; therefore we simply have to serve Krsna, for by service Krsna is satisfied
- We cannot judge how things are happening, but we have to believe. Therefore Vedic knowledge is so important. We cannot make research. We cannot judge. Simply if we take the Vedic truth
- We cannot understand Vedas simply by academic qualification. We have to . . . we must have the qualification of becoming a devotee of the Supreme Lord and His representative, the spiritual master or the saintly persons
- We cannot understand who our father is by experimental knowledge; we have to hear the word of our mother and believe her. If we do not believe her, there is no way of knowing
- We come here empty-handed; we leave here, say, fifty years or hundred years. When I become proprietor? This is another maya, renouncement. As enjoyment is another maya, similarly, renouncement. So we have to give up this renouncement or enjoyment
- We do not have to discriminate whether I am in the modes of ignorance or passion or goodness; we have simply to see whether I'm acting under the direction of the supreme consciousness
- We do not know how many births we had previously, but from the sastra we understand crores, many millions of times, we had to take birth. Therefore it is used, janma koti: not one birth or two birth or second birth or fifth birth
- We do not know that Krsna is our original father and that we are all His sons. The American is my brother, the Indian is my brother, the Chinese is my brother. Therefore, we have to develop Krsna consciousness
- We do not know what is Hari, what is God, what is Krsna, and what is our activity to please Him. That we have to learn. That we have to learn satam prasangat, by association with devotees
- We do not know when we shall die. But we must know we have committed so many sinful activities; therefore before death, we have to make the atonement
- We do not wish to die, but we have to accept death. This is our conditional stage of life. I do not wish to take birth; still, I am forced to go into the womb of my mother by the laws of nature
- We don't need to change our position to become a guru. All we have to do is follow in the disciplic succession stemming from Sri Krsna
- We drive one car for a while, and the car is finally broken, or it is smashed. We may have an accident or not, but eventually the car has to go to the junk yard. Then we have to get another car
- We first have to establish a relationship with the institution. We have to abide by the direction of our instructors there and work favorably according to their direction. This is essential in order to achieve the ultimate desired success
- We have accepted Krsna consciousness duty, so we have to execute our duties faithfully and seriously. Then it is sure Krsna will give us the desired result
- We have fallen into . . . under certain circumstances, so we have to take care of. The real duty is to how to save myself from this material entanglement
- We have fallen under certain conditions that we have to work. This is our position. We have to work very hard, so that foam will come out of the mouth, and still, we are not assured success; always fearful
- We have forgotten our relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. So we have to connect it again. That is called yoga. Because we are now disconnected somehow or other, now we have to connect it again
- We have got desires, different types of desires. The 8,400,000 bodies means at least we have got 8,400,000 different types of desires. That we have to learn from authorities like Krsna. Therefore He says: "You try to understand." You cannot speculate
- We have got four kinds of engagements: eating, sleeping, mating and defending. Defending for God also. So actually, everything belongs to God. Now we have to learn it, how to utilize it for God. That is our philosophy
- We have got intimate relationship with Krsna. That is eternally fact. Simply we have to revive. Sravanadi-suddha-citte karaye udaya (CC Madhya 22.107). We have to create
- We have got sampradaya, Ramanuja-sampradaya, Madhva-sampradaya. So we have to accept the sampradaya, disciplic succession, to receive real knowledge
- We have got the power to be awakened. That power we have got, but we have to awaken it by good association, by sadhu, sadhu-sanga
- We have got these politics, - "We have to defeat such competitors." All these things are created exactly like that, just like a man is creating his particular situation simply by dream. That's all
- We have many desires, but we have to divert these desires to Krsna's service. For instance, we may be very attached to making money; therefore Krsna says, - Yes, go ahead and conduct your business. There is no harm. Simply give Me the results
- We have nothing to do with acceptance and rejection. We have to see whether Krsna or His representative is pleased
- We have nothing to research. Everything is there. Simply we have to hear from a person who is dhira, who is not agitated by the six kinds of agitating agents. That is the process of Vedic knowledge
- We have to accept a certain type of body because we are forced to do so, but this is not the case with Sri Krsna
- We have to accept a guru from the disciplic succession which is called parampara, guru-parampara. Then we can understand what is Krsna. Otherwise not. Now so many people are explaining Bhagavad-gita
- We have to accept according to the authentic scripture who is incarnation. We cannot accept anyone who claims that, "I am also incarnation." No
- We have to accept knowledge as it is. Why you say secular or not secular
- We have to accept Krsna as the guru, or Krsna's representative as guru. Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya (BG 4.34). And we have to give service to such guru and we have to surrender ourself
- We have to accept Krsna through the disciplic succession. There are four sampradayas, disciplic successions. One comes from Lord Brahma (the Brahma-sampradaya), and another comes from Laksmi, the goddess of fortune, - the Sri-sampradaya
- We have to accept perfect knowledge which comes down, as is stated in Bhagavad-gita, by the parampara disciplic succession. BG 1972 Introduction
- We have to accept sastra, how things are going on beyond our experience. Without that, we cannot have knowledge. That is called Vedic process. Sruti-jnanam. Sruti means hearing from authorities. That is real knowledge. Srotra-pantha
- We have to accept the authority of sastra, guru and sadhu. So those who are sadhu, they accept Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- We have to accept the Bhagavad-gita or any other Vedic literature in good faith. These Vedic literatures are the only source of knowledge about the Lord. We must understand that we cannot comprehend the Absolute Truth by the speculative process
- We have to accept the calculations of the Vedic literature. These Vedic calculations are steady; the astronomical calculations made long ago and recorded in the Vedic literature are correct even now
- We have to accept the fact that the nitya-siddhas are completely distinct from the nitya-baddhas, who are ordinary human beings
- We have to accept the formula and execute it with faith. This faith must be in the supreme authority, not in a third class man. We must search out a spiritual master in whom we can have faith
- We have to accept the philosophy as it was contemplated by Lord Brahma, Narada, Madhvacarya, Madhavendra Puri and Isvara Puri. These great acaryas are beyond the imperfections of so-called scholars
- We have to accept the servitorship or underhand, to become underhand of some person. So the intelligence is that, "Whom we have to accept?" That, there lies intelligence: What kind of leader we shall accept
- We have to accept the Vedic injunction, sastric injunction, not nonsensical theories. If we are guided by nonsensical theories, then we'll never be able to understand how things are going on
- We have to accept these authorities, quotation from Srimad-Bhagavatam, Vedic literature, and quoted by authority, Lord Caitanya. We have to follow in that way. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah
- We have to accept this fact and thus understand the historical significance of Bhagavad-gita, without misinterpretation, on the authority of Krsna
- We have to acquire knowledge of God through these senses. But in our conditional life, the senses are all impure. Therefore these senses cannot understand God simply by speculating
- We have to acquire the knowledge of Krsna. That is brahma-jnana, paramatma-jnana and bhagavat-tattva-jnana
- We have to act to satisfy Krsna. That is bhakti. We cannot make our choice that, "This is good, this is bad." Whatever Krsna says is all right. Then it is bhakti
- We have to adopt the tactics of yoga, and in this way, even by doing some ordinary work, which, by destiny or circumstances we are put into, there is no harm
- We have to approach a niskincana, who has nothing to do with this material world. His only ambition is to serve more Krsna
- We have to approach a person who has seen the truth in reality. Then our life is success. That is the Vedic injunction
- We have to approach a person who has seen the truth. It is not difficult. Just like if you are suffering from some disease, you have to go to a doctor who knows how to treat. It is same thing, like that
- We have to approach a spiritual master who is in the disciplic succession from Vyasadeva. Everyone may claim to be following Vyasadeva, but one must actually follow him
- We have to approach an authoritative representative of Krsna appearing in one of these sampradayas (one from Brahma, one from Laksmi, one from Lord Siva, and one from the four Kumaras), and then we can receive real knowledge
- We have to approach devotee. We have to approach prasanta. And if we become fortunate to serve him, then the liberation, the path of liberation, is open
- We have to approach the authoritative representative of Brahma, Krsna. Then we can get the real knowledge
- We have to approach to a guru, tattva-darsi. Tattva-darsi. Tattva-darsi means . . . what is tattva? Tattva means truth. One who has seen the truth. We have to approach such tattva-darsi
- We have to approach to the proper person and inquire and hear. Sravanam kirtanam. Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya (BG 4.34). Not to hear like animal, but pariprasnena sevaya. Then our knowledge will be developed
- We have to associate with sadhu. Satam prasangat. When you discuss about Krsna with sadhu or devotees, it becomes very pleasing
- We have to associate with sadhus who has got unflinching faith in Krsna and fully engaged in Krsna's service. He is sadhu
- We have to be detestful from this sense gratification. Then our spiritual life will begin. That is possible by bhakti
- We have to be guided by the acaryas. Acaryavan puruso veda. One who follows the principles of acaryas, he knows the things as they are. That is the verdict
- We have to be karunikah - that is, we have to take compassion upon fallen souls by going from town to town to enlighten others in Krsna consciousness. This is a sadhu's duty
- We have to be purified. Param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan (BG 10.12). Because Krsna is pure, we cannot approach Krsna impurely. But if we think of Krsna always and meditate upon Krsna, then we shall be purified
- We have to become dhira. We have been adhira in so many different forms of life, because I am coming to this human form of life after evolution of 8,000,000 forms of body. Jalaja nava-laksani sthavara laksa vimsati (Padma Purana). That is evolution
- We have to become serious that, "Krsna, give me intelligence so that I can serve You very nicely." Oh, Krsna will give you intelligence
- We have to become sinless before going back to home, back to Godhead. Because kingdom of God ... God is pure, the kingdom is pure. No impure living entity can enter there
- We have to become sinless. That requires jnana-vairagya. Jnana-vairagya. So jnana-vairagya can be attained very easily if one becomes a devotee of Krsna. Vasudeve bhagavati bhakti-yoga-prayo
- We have to become very humble & submissive & pray to Krsna sincerely, "Krsna, it is not possible for me to know You. Kindly explain how it is I can know You, & then it will be possible." This is the way Arjuna approached Krsna in Eleventh Chapter of BG

- We have to catch again mind: "Why you are going there? Come here. Think of Krsna." Then that is practice. That is called yoga. You cannot allow the mind
- We have to change that body after death according to my mental condition, because we have got two bodies, the subtle body and the gross body. This gross body is finished; it is no more working

- We have to come to the Krsna consciousness, then there will be no caste. Just like these boys, Americans, Europeans, Africans, Canadians, they have no caste, they have no nationality. They are simply for Krsna. That is casteless
- We have to come to the platform where it is pure; there is no designation. Aham brahmasmi: "I am part and parcel of Krsna." This is real religion. Without this conception, any kind of designated religion, that is prakrta. That is not transcendental
- We have to commit violence; that is a natural law. We should not, however, commit violence extravagantly, but only as much as ordered by the Lord
- We have to consider what we are preparing for our life after death. That is intelligence. Not that to be absorbed in simply only this small duration of life, say fifty years, sixty years or hundred years
- We have to consider whether the leadership of Lenin is good, or the leadership of Krsna is good. That is another thing. But you have to accept one leader. You cannot do without leader. That is not possible
- We have to consult from the Vedas and from the right person. Tad-vijnanartham sa gurum eva abhigacchet: from the guru. Not that you purchase one book, Vedas, from the market, and you become a Vedantist. No. That is not possible
- We have to consult sastra. What is our problem, we have to consult sastra. And sastra, how we can consult sastra. Sastra, we have to go somebody who knows sastra
- We have to consult the authoritative Vedic literature. This answer is there, that goloka eva nivasaty - He (Krsna) is living in Goloka Vrndavana; still, He is everywhere
- We have to create our eyes or purify our eyes to see God. And that purification is possible when you apply the ointment of love of God, daily. How to love Krsna? Take it as ointment
- We have to cross this material sky, penetrate the covering, then go to the spiritual sky
- We have to cure this disease, material disease, accepting this material body. Our real problem, which is described in the Bhagavad-gita
- We have to decide it that spiritual life and material life, they are different angles of vision. If we give more stress to the material life, material way of life, then it is not possible to have any spiritual realization or spiritual emancipation
- We have to develop real knowledge. The real knowledge is that God is one, God is great, we are part and parcel of God, and therefore we have to serve God. This is knowledge
- We have to earn some wealth just in order to push on with our material existence. In exchange for that wealth, we have to secure the necessities of life, and primarily, we have to cook something for our hungry stomach
- We have to eat in such proportion and such kind of food that inside intestines may remain always clear. In a Bengali proverb there is a saying that bhuri and muri. If your these two things are very clear, then there is no question of disease
- We have to eat the animal; therefore there is no punishment for animal killing. - But God is for everyone the same. Every living entity is part and parcel of God. So they have been given an opportunity to undergo the punishment or enjoyment
- We have to elevate our consciousness through this science of Krsna. Charity is within everyone's heart, but we do not know how to make the best use of it
- We have to elevate ourselves from a lower position to a higher position, and the topmost position is that of direct service in Vrndavana. But everyone is engaged in service. Denial of the service of the Lord is maya
- We have to elevate the human civilization from a platform which is on equal level with hog civilization. We should very carefully study and try to know whether the advancement of civilization which we have accepted is genuine
- We have to engage different classes of men in different activities. If we do not know the art then we will fail, because unless there is a division of work there will be havoc
- We have to engage our consciousness . . . there is a supreme plan, supreme plan, all over the creation of the world, supreme plan. Everything is going on under some plan
- We have to engage ourselves in occupational engagements that will evoke our divine consciousness. This is possible only by hearing and chanting the divine activities of the Supreme Lord
- We have to enter the eternal planets and associate with the Supreme Personality of Godhead in order to be happy. If we do not attain this position, we will return to the material world
- We have to execute tapasya, austerity. Why? Now, to purify our existence. This present existence is not purified; therefore we have to meet death. Otherwise we are eternal
- We have to find out "Where I shall be happy even by bowing down?" That is Krsna. Your bowing down will not be stopped, because you are meant for that. But if you bow down to Krsna and Krsna's representative, you become happy
- We have to find out the real existence, sanatana existence. That is Krsna
- We have to follow great personalities, acaryas. acaryavan puruso veda. One who has got, one who has taken shelter of acarya, bona fide spiritual master, he knows. Acaryavan puruso veda
- We have to follow great superior personalities, just like sad-gosvami. Narottama dasa Thakura says, ei chay gosai jar tar mui dasa: I become servant, servant or disciple, of such a person who follows the footprints of the six Gosvamis
- We have to follow His instruction, what is given in the Bhagavad-gita. We cannot imitate Him. He is all-powerful
- We have to follow in the footprints of the gosvamis and search out Radha and Krsna in this way - by crying after Them
- We have to follow in the footsteps of such devotees (as Siva, Yamaraja, Brahma, the Kumaras, Kapila, etc.), for by this one easy process one can cross the great ocean of nescience just as one might cross a small hole created by the hoof of a calf
- We have to follow Krsna alone. Not all these rascals, silly jackals. Then our life is successful. Krsna can give you all guidance. In all respective necessities of life, there is everything complete. We haven't got to follow the silly jackals
- We have to follow Krsna. When you are trained up to follow Krsna, then our life is successful. Then you can do something
- We have to follow the authorities. We cannot manufacture. There is no need of research work. Simply if we follow the chalked-out path given by the great authorities, that will help us
- We have to follow the footprints of great saints and sages, those who have achieved success by this indication of Bhagavad-gita. Don't follow your whims. Take the standard advice. Just try to become Krsna conscious
- We have to follow the footprints of other authorities. Leadership. In every society they are accepting leadership. So in that way you have to accept authority. There is no other process
- We have to follow the footprints of the acaryas. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah. We cannot understand higher things unless we follow the footprint of great personalities
- We have to follow the footprints of the Gosvamis, how to search out Krsna and Radharani, Vrndavana, or within your heart. That is the process of Caitanya Mahaprabhu's bhajana - feeling of separation, vipralambha, vipralambha-seva
- We have to follow the footprints of the great stalwart acaryas. Acaryopasanam
- We have to follow the footsteps of great personalities. That is our method. We don't manufacture our own way of living. We simply follow the great personalities
- We have to follow the footsteps of Rupa Gosvami, rupanuga. Then we can understand Lord Caitanya. And if we get favor of Lord Caitanya, we can very easily understand Krsna. This is the process
- We have to follow the injunction of the sastra. We cannot manufacture our own ways of spiritual advancement. That is not possible
- We have to follow the mahajanas, the great authorities, if we want to receive transcendental knowledge
- We have to follow the principles laid down in the Bhagavad-gita. That will make our life successful. Practically we have to apply this, have to apply the principles. Otherwise the whole attempt will be failure
- We have to follow the sastra and the great saintly person. Otherwise there is no difference between omkara and Krsna. But because sastra recommends harer nama harer nama (CC Adi 17.21), we have to accept it
- We have to follow the sastric injunction. If we really want to come out this material bondage . . . material bondage means this body. Our real problem is this body. That we do not know
- We have to follow the superior order. Then we become guru, not that by cheating others we become guru. No. That is cheater. That is not teacher. Guru means who is following the superior order. The superior order is Krsna or His representative
- We have to follow this (Srimad-Bhagavatam) sastra, which is beyond the deception of our material life. We have got four kinds of deceptions, deficiencies, we conditioned souls; but those who are liberated, they are above this - transcendental life
- We have to follow. People are searching after God. They do not know God. They are asking this question, "Can you show me God?" So, so many questions are there about God, but here is God, pointed out by Arjuna, a mahajana
- We have to forget all these so-called sources of happiness. This is misleading. Maya
- We have to gain understanding through the words of our predecessors. There are twelve mahajanas, or authorities, of whom Brahma is one
- We have to gather knowledge from the right source. Indeed, in reality we can get knowledge only from the Vedic sources
- We have to get rid of this rajo-guna and tamo-guna. We have to be fixed up in sattva-guna, pure life
- We have to give ourselves a chance to progress in spiritual life, step by step. Otherwise, if we remain attached to material consciousness throughout all our days, we will not perfect our KC, and we shall miss the opportunity of this human form of life
- We have to give up all other material desires, simply stick to Krsna to serve Him, always ready to serve Him. Anukulyena krsnanu-silanam
- We have to give up all this (wealth and possessions) and take shelter of Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and worship Him. Nor can we worship Him whimsically, but as He desires. If Krsna says, "I want a glass of water," we must bring Him water
- We have to give up anacara, forbidden things, sinful things. Striyah suna panam dyutam yatra papas catur-vidhah (SB 1.17.38). There are four kinds of sinful activities. Basic principle of sinful life is avaidha, illicit sex life
- We have to give up our this sense gratification process, and that is the teaching of Lord Caitanya. And Caitanya Mahaprabhu practically demonstrated how to adopt that life of pure sense gratification, or pure utilization of the senses
- We have to give up the association of rajo-guna and tamo-guna. Then there is question of progress. Otherwise it is simply bluff
- We have to give up the false, illusory servant, son, father or lover, for they will surely cheat us. We may love our son with our heart and soul, but that very son may some day be our enemy
- We have to give up this body, any circumstances. That's a fact. Then such person who has become fully aware of Krsna, tyaktva deham, giving up this body, tyaktva deham punar janma naiti (BG 4.9), he does not take any more birth with another material body
- We have to give up this body, willingly or unwillingly. A day will come when you have to submit to the laws of nature and give up this body
- We have to give up this body, willingly or unwillingly. The day will come when we will have to submit to the laws of nature and give up this body. Even President Kennedy in his procession had to submit to nature's law and change his body for another body
- We have to give up this body; this is as sure as anything. So the problem is, after giving up this body, what sort of body I am going to accept? That is assured in the Bhagavad-gita, that after giving up this body, there is no rebirth
- We have to give up this habit that "I am master, I can enjoy. I can do. I am independent." You have to give up this habit. Then you will be eligible for going back to home, back to Godhead
- We have to go to guru and surrender there. Without surrendering, you cannot learn anything. If you want to challenge guru, it is not possible. Then you'll learn nothing
- We have to go to the platform of soul. That is spiritual education. But there are so many other stages. Somebody's stopping in the mind. He's thinking that this is the final

- We have to hear from Bhagavan, not from rascals. Then your knowledge is perfect. If you hear from rascals, then you become rascal
- We have to hear not from a telephone but from an authorized person, for it is he who has real knowledge
- We have to imagine that these universes, which according to our limited knowledge are expanded unlimitedly, are so great that the gross and subtle ingredients are not only within the universe but cover the universe in seven layers
- We have to increase the attachment. Krsna is already attractive, but we are trying to go away from Krsna. This is our business. "Krsna may not touch me." We are so clever that "Krsna may not touch me." This is maya
- We have to introduce this varnasrama-dharma
- We have to keep ourselves always separate as masters of the body, not as servants. If we know how to drive a car well, it will give us good service; but if we do not know how, we will be in danger
- We have to know actually from authentic sastra what is the actual thing. Sastra-caksusa. You don't see with your these blunt eyes, rascal eyes. We see through the sastra. That should be. That is real knowledge
- We have to know the Supreme Personality of Godhead through authority, not by speculation. Speculation is no use
- We have to learn from authorized sources, and we can be informed perfectly about paravara: para and avara. Avara means this inferior nature, and para means superior nature
- We have to learn that thing, that how we have to see the beauty of spiritual life. Then, naturally, we shall be refrained from material activities
- We have to learn the lessons of Gita from the authorized disciplic succession as it is advised there in the book. Unfortunately every one not in that line tries to explain Gita in his own way and this process is misguided the people
- We have to leave all this material world
- We have to live in this material world in such a way that we do everything for Krsna but do not touch the water of the material world. In this way, we will have no attachment to things of this material world
- We have to live very regulative life; then we shall not be affected or infected by the sinful activities. That is the description - SB 6.1.12
- We have to live. The same thing: we are also working, we are also eating, we are sleeping, we are also marrying - but according to Krsna's direction. Then it is Krsna conscious life and perfect life
- We have to look at the result. how will we decide what is real religion? Sa vai pumsam paro dharmah yato bhaktir adhoksaje: (SB 1.2.6) by seeing whether the followers have learned how to love God
- We have to make our eyes to see Him. That's all. And that, how that eyes are made? Only the devotees who have loving affection for Krsna, who has developed loving propensity
- We have to mold our life, and the Krsna consciousness movement is the best process. Therefore those who are sinful, those who are atheist, they have become little afraid of this movement
- We have to offer to Krsna what He likes, and then we'll take prasada. Krsna likes Radharani. Therefore all the gopis, they are trying to push Radharani to Krsna. "Krsna likes this gopi. All right, push Her." That is Krsna consciousness
- We have to penetrate the whole material universe. This we cannot do by spaceships but by Krsna consciousness. One who is absorbed in Krsna consciousness and who at the time of death thinks of Krsna is at once transferred there - in spiritual sky
- We have to please the spiritual master by service, and the entire bhakti process depends on the attitude of service. The transcendental nature of Krsna is not possible to understand with our blunt material senses

- We have to practice. This arcana-marga means practice. Immediately you cannot expect that your mind is completely fixed up with Krsna. But if we follow the regulative principles, then it will mature
- We have to prepare literatures both in English and French and have to draw the attention of the university students as our members
- We have to prepare ourself for the next moment of our death. People forget it. Janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi
- We have to prepare the eyes to see. That is religion. I cannot see at the present moment that does not mean I shall stop. I must prepare myself how to see. That is real intelligence
- We have to prepare where we want to go. That is real education. Either by the yogic principle or by cultivation of knowledge or by this devotional service, the whole idea is how to transfer oneself to the better condition of life
- We have to prove to the world that it is not brainwashing; it is real knowledge. Why you should keep it suppressed and leave the people in ignorance? It is not your duty to bluff and cheat. That is not science
- We have to purify our consciousness in order to understand that consciousness is eternal. If we can do this, our lives will be successful
- We have to purify the consciousness. Then we shall be without any touch of this so-called distress and happiness
- We have to purify the propensity of material sense gratification. That is Krsna consciousness. For Krsna consciousness we have to be purified. What is that purification? We cannot enjoy anything directly, so we have to enjoy through Krsna
- We have to purify. That purification means one must know that "I am not this body. I am spirit soul"
- We have to raise ourselves to the spiritual standard by ourselves. In this sense I am my own friend and I am my own enemy. The opportunity is ours
- We have to reach to the point of Personality of Godhead, person. Before that, Brahman realization and Paramatma realization, that is partial realization of the Absolute Truth
- We have to receive first-hand perfect knowledge; then our life will be successful. Not defective knowledge. Knowledge received from a living being, as we are, that is imperfect; always imperfect - because we are deficient
- We have to receive knowledge from authorities. We cannot speculate. Speculation will not help us in approaching the real destination
- We have to receive knowledge from the proper source in disciplic succession beginning with the supreme spiritual master, the Lord Himself, and handed down to a succession of spiritual masters. BG 1972 Introduction
- We have to receive transcendental sound through the transcendental channel, therefore, Vedas are called Sruti. That means transcendental sound can be received through the ear
- We have to rectify this mistake, that, We are not this body. This is our external covering. We are spirit soul, part and parcel of Krsna
- We have to rectify, purify our existence. This present existence is not purified. Otherwise, why we are accepting death? Because the existence is not purified

- We have to repose our mind to the form of Krsna. Krsna says mayi, "Unto Me." We cannot see now Krsna personally. Personally He is here, but we want to see anything physically. Physically He is also there
- We have to revert ourself, we have to rectify the lust into love. And if we love God, then we love everything. And without loving God, if you want to love something else, that is nonsense
- We have to satisfy our tongue, our senses, but not for indriya pritih. We should eat for living nicely, not for palatable dishes. So many animal killing, unnecessary. Why
- We have to save ourself individually by Krsna consciousness. What this material advancement will save me? Will the material advancement of knowledge can save anyone from death? Is it possible?
- We have to search out our eternal peace and prosperity in the kingdom of God, which is a place other than this mortal world
- We have to see through the authorized books the description which is beyond our perception. Acintyah khalu ye bhava na tams tarkena yojayet (Mahabharata, Bhisma-parva 5.22). Tarkena, by argument, which is beyond your sense perception. So many things
- We have to see through the eyes of a person who has perfect vision. That is wanted
- We have to see through the sastra characteristic of a rascal, that he is not Krsna conscious. That's all. We may be fool, but we take lesson from Bhagavad-gita. That's all. And from the lesson we understand you are rascal number one. That's all
- We have to see. Instead of criticizing in that adverse way, we have to follow the acarya. Acaryopasanam. So you'll find Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Visnu Svami, Nimbarka, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, they have accepted in that way
- We have to select a Brahmin by the symptoms of his life, not that because he is born of a Brahmin family he remains a Brahmin. No. He must continue the brahminical qualification; otherwise he is not
- We have to serve Krsna, and we are subordinate. He is supplying our necessities. He is the Supreme Father. This life is normal life and liberated life. Any other life, beyond this conception of Krsna consciousness, that is sinful life
- We have to simply carry the message of Krsna and try to convince people. If one is convinced, it is good; if not, doesn't matter, I am not . . . going . . . then you are recognized by Krsna
- We have to simply think of Krsna. You think in any way. That is your perfection. Smartavyah satatam visnuh. This is the injunction. You have to think of Visnu always. This is samadhi; this is meditation; this is yoga siddhi, perfection of yoga
- We have to speak or chant about the holy activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but first we have to hear about them
- We have to stick to the principles stated in the Bhagavad-gita. Vyavasayatmika buddhih: every man's duty is to receive orders from Lord Krsna or from His bona fide representative and take these orders as his life and soul, without personal considerations
- We have to stop this disease, simply repetition of birth and death and disease. You can tolerate, but suppose if I become that child who is being killed by the conspiration of the mother and doctor. So, would I like? This is tribulation
- We have to study all this information (of Bhagavad-gita) and utilize for the social benefit. Then everything will be adjusted. If we simply become disturbed by the external symptoms, it is not possible to make them solved
- We have to study authorized books and Vedas, and we have to follow their example, then Krsna consciousness or God realization is not difficult. It is very easy. There is no, I mean to say, any stumbling block on the path of your understanding what is God
- We have to study from the sastric vision. Sastra-caksusat. How you'll see? You'll see through the authority, scriptures. So these are the statements of authoritative scriptures
- We have to study sanatana-dharma, or varnasrama-dharma. Then we'll understand what the Vedic religion is
- We have to study Vedas through authoritative sources. We have to follow the rules and regulations. Then, in this life, we shall be able to understand what is God, what is Krsna
- We have to suffer for our past deeds. That is a fact, and we cannot avoid it. But karmani nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhajam (Bs. 5.54): the sufferings of those who engage in devotional service in Krsna consciousness are minimized
- We have to surrender to Krsna, and it is not very difficult. When the son surrenders to the father, is it a very difficult job? It is very natural, and the father is always waiting to receive the son. There is no question of insult
- We have to surrender. That is our constitutional position. If I don't surrender to some particular person or particular government or particular community or society or something, but ultimately I am surrendered, I am surrendered to the laws of nature
- We have to take advantage of this favorable condition to end this miserable material existence. And if anyone does not take the advantage, then he is committing suicide
- We have to take care of ourself. Daily, we are thinking, "My country, my community" - they're all busy in this way - "they'll save me." No. When death will come, nobody will save you. You remember that
- We have to take faith in the words of Krsna and put our complete faith and devotion at the lotus feet of Krsna. That will make us happy and make progress in Krsna consciousness in order to achieve the highest goal of life, back to Godhead
- We have to take information from the authoritative literature what is the position of this material world, the spiritual world, God and His relationship with us, our position. This is real knowledge
- We have to take information from the highest authority, Krsna, what is the nature of God, what is the nature of Absolute Truth, what is the nature of the soul. We have to hear
- We have to take information of the transcendental form of the Lord from persons who have actually seen Him with perfect eyes smeared with devotional service
- We have to take instruction from those who are not blind, whose eyes are opened and who are liberated from this material bondage. One must take instruction from such persons, and then he will understand his self-interest
- We have to take it from authoritative scriptures like Bhagavad-gita, the Vedic literature, that soul is different from this body, and . . . of course, according to the mentality of the soul, we develop different kinds of body
- We have to take knowledge from the most perfect Personality of Godhead, Krsna. This is real knowledge
- We have to take our ideas from Bhagavan; then they will be perfect. We read Bhagavad-gita because it is perfect. There is no mistake in it; there is no illusion in it; there is no cheating in it. Nor is it delivered by one whose senses are imperfect
- We have to take protection of the Vedic knowledge, and that is summarized, and Srimad-Bhagavatam is the ripened fruit of Vedic knowledge
- We have to take shelter of Krsna. Krsna is very friendly to all of us. Therefore He comes down from Vaikuntha to inform this. That is Bhagavad-gita. And that is elaborately explained in the Srimad-Bhagavatam
- We have to take shelter of the Vedic injunctions. That is called Vedic. Therefore our method, Vedic method, is as soon as we speak something, we immediately give evidence from the Vedas. Then it is perfect
- We have to take this knowledge from authority. Here is Krsna speaking. He's authority. We accept Krsna: the Supreme Personality of Godhead. His knowledge is perfect
- We have to take to Krsna consciousness because such consciousness will help us to be free from the contamination of these different types of material consciousness and save us from transmigrating from one body to another
- We have to think, then: 5,000 years ago a personality like Arjuna expressed his inability to practice this eightfold yoga system, so how can we follow it now
- We have to tolerate. Just like Prahlada Maharaja. So much tribulation, even his father became enemy. So Krsna consciousness is like that - even one's father becomes enemy, what to speak of others
- We have to train the whole younger generation at the present moment by the simple method recommended by Lord Caitanya, and then this movement, Krishna Consciousness will spread all over the world
- We have to transcend all these three qualities, sattva-guna, rajo-guna, tamo-guna, especially rajo-guna, tamo-guna. If we do not try to do that, then there is no hope of spiritual salvation or liberation from the material entanglement
- We have to transmigrate from this body to another body. This is the fact. But the modern education, they do not know it, neither they believe, even the practical example is there. And who is giving the example? The most authoritative PG, Krsna
- We have to treat him (the tiger) differently, giving him charity in the form of prasada
- We have to try, we have to learn how to love Krsna. And love begins with this give and take. You give something to your lover; he gives you something to you. In this way love develops. Dadati pratigrhnati
- We have to understand everything beyond our perception from the authority who actually knows. The first avyakta-marga-vit, or authority, is Brahma, and the next authority in disciplic succession is Narada
- We have to understand from authoritative literature. The subtle body is working, just like when you sleep your gross body is not working, but the subtle body, the mind, intelligence and ego, is working; therefore you dream
- We have to understand Him in truth, not by imagination, not by malinterpretation, but by fact. The fact is being explained by Krsna Himself. Why we should go to understand Krsna by the commentary of some less intelligent, some poor fund of knowledge?
- We have to understand how great He is. Not that simply sophistically, "God is great, and I do everything. God cannot see. Let me commit all kinds of sin." But God is great; He will see. "No, no, God cannot see. I can cheat God, although He is great"
- We have to understand it (spirit soul) by the sruti process, Vedic knowledge. That is real understanding. And understanding from the right person, Krsna or His representative. And it has to be understood simply by hearing. There is no other process
- We have to understand like this. Somehow or other, if you chant the holy name of the Lord, knowingly or unknowingly, it will have its effect
- We have to understand that if we want to continue in this artificial enjoyment, we will not be able to attain our position of eternal enjoyment
- We have to understand that this body is false; therefore the bodily enjoyment is also false. That they cannot understand. This is their misfortune
- We have to understand that this human life is not meant for the animal propensities of life like cats and dog; it is meant for some other divine purpose. We have to get rid of this material encagement and attain our spiritual life and be happy forever
- We have to understand that we receive different bodies due to our sinful actions. Now we are given a chance to execute our duty in the human form
- We have to understand that what is the aim of life. Aim of life is go back to home, back to Godhead. Unless we understand this, our life is in darkness
- We have to understand the soul and its constitution from authoritative scriptures like Bhagavad-gita
- We have to understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead from the devotees. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself says, guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija - CC Madhya 19.151
- We have to understand the transcendental science through Vedic knowledge. By our imperfect knowledge if we try to understand the Absolute Truth, naturally we shall find Him, we can imagine. Just like gagana-sadrsa
- We have to understand things through the acaryas. Acaryavan puruso veda. One who is not following the footsteps of the acaryas, he cannot understand anything
- We have to understand Vedic knowledge on the authority of the disciplic succession not from mental speculators who are simply rascals and have no entrance into the Vedic knowledge
- We have to understand very clearly that sound is the beginning of the creation of all material objects for our sense gratification. Similarly, if sound is purified, our spiritual necessities also are produced from sound
- We have to understand what God is and what He says, and we have to abide by His orders. Then there is real religion, there is real understanding of God, and everything is complete
- We have to understand what is the condition of the society. Just like in the Koran it is said by Muhammad that, "From this day you have no sex intercourse with your mother." Just find out the condition of the society
- We have to use our intelligence. That is described by Srila Rupa Gosvami: prapancikataya buddhya hari-sambandhi-vastunah
- We have to utilize our intelligence. Then . . . this life is meant for that. But if we waste our life, misuse this opportunity of human life just to live like the cats and dogs, ahara-nidra, eating, sleeping, mating and defending, then we are spoiling
- We have to vanquish illusion, develop equanimity and spontaneity, and practice bhakti-yoga. Then a supremely powerful force will gradually transform our material existence into spiritual existence
- We have to voluntarily give up these habits (illicit sex life, intoxication, meat-eating and gambling). That is called austerity, penance
- We have to wait for that revelation. Not by force. Force will not act. Krsna is not our order-supplier, servant: "Krsna, please come here. I'll see You." No, no. That will not do. You must be submissive, first of all surrender
- We have to withdraw this understanding that we shall be very happy by making adjustments to this material world. Then Krsna consciousness will be effective
- We have to work for organization, but not that
- We have to work for somebody else. You cannot work independently. Either for your family or for your master or for your state or for your community or for everyone. Nobody is independent. But that independence is mine
- We have to work very sincerely, keeping our faith in Krsna
- We have to worship the acaryas. That is recommended in the Bhagavad-gita, for making advancement in spiritual life, acaryopasana
- We haven't got to change our position. Simply we have to transfer the energy for Krsna. That is called yoga-sannyasta-karmanam
- We keep one wife, and that is very difficult for us. We have to think over hundred times, "Whether I shall accept a wife to maintain?" You see? But Krsna had sixteen thousand wives
- We may apply our intelligence to manufacture an automobile, radio or television for sense gratification, but we have to understand that this is not knowledge. Rather, this is plundered intelligence
- We may be a Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian for fifty or sixty years, or at the utmost one hundred, but again we have to take birth and be something else
- We may render service to the sadhu or to Krsna. The sadhu is the representative of Krsna. He will never say, "Serve me," but will say, "Serve Krsna." Therefore we have to approach Krsna through the sadhu
- We must accept the principles of Bhagavad-gita, which constitute the ABC'S of dharma. Actually, we only have to accept the principle of surrender unto Krsna, but this acceptance comes after many, many births
- We must be disinfected. This is the real process. So we have to taste it. Advancement of devotional service means proportionately we become detached to material attraction
- We must know that we have to leave this body, and we must prepare for that. Unless we don't prepare for that, all of a sudden, if death comes, then our whole life is spoiled. That is the whole system
- We must treat the lower living entities compassionately, but this does not mean that we have to treat them in the same way we treat other human beings. The feeling of equality must be there, but the treatment should be discriminating
- We not only have to understand God and our relationship with Him but also how to act in that relationship. In this way we can perfect our lives
- We ourselves may forget what we have done in previous lives, but because the Lord witnesses our actions, the results of our actions are always there, and we have to undergo the reactions nonetheless
- We refuse to accept any controller of this universe because if we accept a controller we have to account for our sinful activities, just as when we accept the government we have to account for our unlawful activities
- We see the flowers and fruits are coming every season. Why once? This dogmatic, we have to accept? Our experience is that by nature's way we find the same flower is coming again in the same season
- We selected to chant this Hare Krsna mantra because Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the inaugurator of the sankirtana movement, He personally chanted this Hare Krsna. So we follow. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah (CC Madhya 17.186). We have to follow some authority
- We shall always remember that we are reading Bhagavad-gita, and whatever is spoken in the Bhagavad-gita, we have to, at least, we have to accept that. Otherwise, there is no question of reading this Bhagavad-gita
- We shall not forget Visnu even for a moment. This is the basic principle of devotional life. Some way or other, we have to remember always Krsna. Then whatever condition we may be, we are pure
- We should always remember that we have got dormant love for Krsna, but it is now covered. We have to uncover it by cleansing the dirty things. That is the method
- We should be inquiring like Sanatana Gosvami about how to put an end to them all. Instead, we are working in such a way that we have to accept another material body
- We should cultivate our spiritual potencies by knowledge. The knowledge is already there; we simply have to accept it
- We should know that whatever we are doing in the material concept of life is illusion. We have to understand whether we are illusioned or not. And all conditioned souls are illusioned
- We should not be too much attached to this body. But because with this body we have to execute Krsna consciousness, therefore we should keep it fit also. That is called yukta-vairagya
- We should not give up our duty because mosquito is biting or some bed bug is biting. So, so many dualities that we have to tolerate
- We should receive knowledge by the bona fide, parampara system. Otherwise it may be bogus. Because without parampara system, we cannot understand actual fact. And we have to become in the disciplic succession. We must accept a guru
- We shudder as soon as we hear that we have to become servant of God
- We simply have to apply our mind and senses in Krsna consciousness, as done by Maharaja Ambarisa
- We simply have to voluntarily undergo some penance in the beginning. It may be a little painful in the beginning to refrain from illicit sex, intoxication, meat-eating and gambling, but one has to be tolerant
- We still have to execute our duty of Krishna consciousness as far as possible and Krishna will help us
- We think of our business, our dog, our family, our lovable object and so many other things. We have to think of something; without thinking, we cannot remain. We simply have to divert our thoughts to Krsna
- We try to be happy by obtaining money, but money is not very easily obtained, and we have to undergo a great deal of distress to get it. However, we accept this distress with the hope of getting some false happiness
- We want liberation. Then mahat-seva: we have to take shelter of mahatma. And, if you want to go to the darkest region of material existence, then yositam sangi-sangam (SB 5.5.2), sense enjoyment
- We want to revive our natural position, uncovered position. Now we are covered by dust, by dirt, by corroding materials. So we have to cleanse this
- We'll have to completely reject the bodily conception of life. We have to stand on the spiritual consciousness of life. That is being taught
- Well, everyone dies. Death is inevitable. Nobody can avoid death. "As sure as death". And therefore, I have already explained that we have to take information from the Vedas
- What is beyond our imagination, beyond our mental cultivation, beyond the reach of our senses, we have to accept authority. Exactly in the same way, just like we have to accept somebody as our father simply on the version of mother

- Whatever knowledge you get by experimental knowledge, experimental method, that is the modern ways of understanding. But these things (measurement of spiritual spark, sun) cannot be experimented. Therefore we have to take the knowledge from the Vedas

- When Hiranyakasipu asked Prahlada Maharaja, "What is the best thing you have learned from your teachers?" Prahlada replied, - O best of the asuras, as far as I can understand, because we have accepted this material body, we have to accept death

- When the material concept of life covers me, we cannot understand what is God. We say God is dead. So we have to uncover our eyes from this illusion. Then you'll see directly God
- When this lust is baffled, we become angry; when we become angry, we become illusioned; and when we are illusioned, we are doomed. This is the process that is going on, but we have to reverse this process and turn lust into love

- When we die, we have to give up the body & then take on another body. We immediately enter the womb of another mother, stay for nine months or so, and then come out. Then a new chapter of life begins. This is conditioned life, & it goes on again & again
- When we're in doubts, we have to refer to the authority. Just like when you're diseased, so you go to the physician, "What is the cause of my this trouble?" Similarly, when you're in doubts, you have to approach an authority to clear the doubts
- When you are full in your satisfaction of hunger, you feel happiness, you feel strength. Similarly, we have to follow the spiritual process, and gradually, as we develop, we become free from all these demands of the body
- Whenever there is reference in the Vedic literature, we have to accept. And practically we have seen people did not know the name of Krsna three, four years ago, they are mad after Krsna, the European, American. This is the practical fact
- Whenever we have to take protection, we should know that our protection must be a living force. BG 1972 purports
- Where is the benefit of equal right, independence? Phalena pariciyate. We have to see the result of every action - whether the result is beneficial. If the result is not beneficial, the action is not beneficial
- Whether we enjoy the reactions of good work or suffer the reactions of bad, we have to take on the material body and thereby undergo the material miseries
- While living in this gross body, we have to educate our subtle body in such a way that it becomes spiritualized completely. The subtle body is mind, intelligence and ego
- Who can become desireless? It is not possible. If I am desireless, then I am a dead man. A dead man has no desire. So that is not possible. We have to purify the desires
- Who will take instruction from Krsna? Tad-guna-ragi, when you understand that, Krsna is the Supreme. We have to take instruction from Him
- Whole this bhakti-yoga or any yoga, the whole system is purification. Tapo divyam yena suddhyet sattvam (SB 5.5.1). Our existence is now impure. Therefore we have to accept birth, death, old age and disease
- Why are we receiving different bodies? Because we have different tendencies for sense gratification. We actually have to come to detest sense gratification before our spiritual life begins. This is made possible through bhakti
- Without cleaning, your life is spoiled. If you don't clean your life, then you'll have to accept another body according to karma. We have to accept. But the whole human mission is to stop this repetition of birth. They do not know
- Without following these principles, the so-called devotional service, hari-bhakti, utpata, simply disturbance, simply a disturbance. Therefore we have to follow the principles laid down by the Gosvamis, sad-gosvami. And then our attempt will be successful

- Yajna means we have to satisfy the Supreme Person. That is called yajna. And this process can be executed when the human society is very regulated. Regulated means there must be division of these varnas and asramas
- You are falsely thinking that "I am everything. I can, by technological understanding, I improve the condition." But the real problem is, we are put under the laws of material nature, by which we have to accept birth, death, old age and disease
- You can call it, "This is Negro law," "This is white law," "This is black law . . ." No. That is not very scientific. God is great, we are all subordinates, and we have to obey the orders of God. That is religion
- You cannot get Krsna by overcoming guru. That is not possible. We should always remember that by the mercy of Krsna we get guru, and by the mercy of guru we get Krsna. So we have to seek mercies of both of them
- You cannot go even a step without authority. You are governed by authority. You are running your car by authority - "Keep to the right." Why? Why don't you defy it? So authority we have to obey
- You cannot have so ecstasy by vibrating om, but because it was chanted by the greatest authority, Lord Caitanya, it has got special power. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah. The scriptures indicate that we have to follow the footprints of great authorities
- You cannot purchase the books and read at home and become expert engineer, expert. No. That is not the process. Therefore the Vedic knowledge is called sruti. So we have to hear by parampara system
- You cannot say that "I have killed one uncivilized man." No. That you cannot do. Similarly, you cannot kill even plant. But we have to live. Therefore we can kill plant under the order of the Supreme
- You cannot say that death is very good thing. Nobody will say. Death... But we have to die. There is no excuse, that "I shall not die." Death is "as sure as death," they say. But you don't want death. This is suffering
- You cannot see now God. So Krsna has come in Deity form to accept your service. And we have to render service. Not that it is a doll or stone. No. He is Krsna
- You cannot surpass the laws of nature. Similarly, change of body, that is forced by the nature. Prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah (BG 3.27). Prakrteh, by the nature's law, we have to do
- You cannot understand God by your this blunt material experience. No. That is not possible. Therefore we have to submit. We have to surrender
- You have seen sometimes the horse. They are having foams in the mouth. So we have to work so hard in this material world that sometimes foam comes. Yes. We become thirsty
- You have to accept death. Nobody wants to die, but why death is there? But they (the modern civilization) are callous. They think, "We have to accept this death" or "This is finished," all vague idea, no real idea
- You have to accept Krsna as the proprietor. And it is accepted by all great personalities: Vyasadeva, Narada, Asita, Devala, all the acaryas. So unless we are grand fool, we can't deny this. We have to take knowledge by the disciplic succession
- You have to take mercy from Krsna. Then it is possible to extinguish. We have to seek mercy
- You may have solved all other problems. Very good. But what about your birth, death, disease and old age? These are the intelligent questions. We have to answer. We have to make solution
- You study, and chant this Hare Krsna mantra like this, and that is the following the footsteps of Gosvamis. Acaryopasana. We have to worship the acaryas. That is recommended in the Bhagavad-gita for making progress in spiritual life
- Your desires and your propensities will be according to your society. Just like in English language it is said: "A man is known by his company." So we have to change our company
- Your problem is how to be reestablished again as eternal. Because we are eternal. Some way or other, we have fallen in this material world. Therefore, we have to accept birth and death
- Your service is to Krsna, so it is not expected that everyone should be induced by your argument. You cannot expect. One day, two day, but we have to do our work. That's all
