- We cannot expect that all of a sudden, being addicted to so many bad habits, your countrymen, will give up eating flesh, taking intoxication, sex-life, and so many other nasty things, and become overnight great self-realized souls. That is not possible
- We cannot give up our desires, but we can purify our desires. Killing of desire is no solution, but curing the desires, diseased condition of desire, is the right solution
- We cannot simply give up everything. We will become mad if we try to give up everything without having staunch faith in Krsna
- We cannot simply give up. As it is said, that tyakta-karmanah, give up everyone, engagement, and tyakta-svajana-bandhavah . . . you'll become mad if you give up all these things, unless you have got staunch faith in Krsna
- We cannot stop this (preaching Krsna consciousness) business. You see? They may think that, - Why you are, nonsense people, you have given up everything, you are chanting Hare Krsna? You are all fools. You are not enjoying life
- We come here empty-handed; we leave here, say, fifty years or hundred years. When I become proprietor? This is another maya, renouncement. As enjoyment is another maya, similarly, renouncement. So we have to give up this renouncement or enjoyment
- We do not recommend that "You give up your occupation, you become a sannyasi, give up your wife and children." No. That is not our movement
- We don't ask blindly, just like one follows some faith or type of religion blindly, and after some times they give it up. No
- We have been habituated since time immemorial, many life after many life, simply for sense gratification. It is not very easy to give up the idea. Therefore sastra says even if you have got idea of sense gratification, still you take to KC
- We have created dharma in two categories: one for enjoyment and one for renouncement. Both these things have to be given up. Neither enjoyment, nor renouncement. Then what is this philosophy? The philosophy is that you cannot renounce anything
- We have discussed that point. Arjuna was talking with Krsna in friendly terms, just like friend. Krsna was saying something, - Oh, you cannot . . . you are a ksatriya. You are a military man. How can you give up the fighting
- We have got pravrtti to enjoy this material world. Krsna comes personally, that "This will not help you." He comes personally: "You give up this habit. You simply surrender to Me. I will take you back to home, back to Godhead."
- We have made a habit of eating such things (meat). Similarly, we can give it up also. This is possible when there is right bhajana-kriya. In this way, when anartha-nivrtti is finished, perfect, then he becomes firmly stuck up in Krsna consciousness
- We have practical experience in discharging our missionary activity that some people come and apply themselves to the KC with some hidden motive, and as soon as they are economically a little well-situated, they give up this process. BG 1972 purports
- We have practical experience that anyone who accepts this fruit (of love of Godhead) and sincerely tastes it immediately becomes mad after it and gives up all his bad habits, being intoxicated by Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s gift, the Hare Krsna maha-mantra
- We have seen many big, big sannyasi, they give up this world as false. But after some times, when they cannot actually realize Brahman, they again come to this jagat for humanitarian work, for welfare activities
- We have seen many great sannyasis, they give up this world & take sannyasa for merging into Brahman, but later on they come back again to the material activities for opening hospital, schools, and philanthropic work. Why? Because they could not get there
- We have seen many impersonalist sannyasis who first of all give up the world as false (brahma satyam jagan mithya). They consider themselves Brahman (aham brahmasmi), consider the world false - jagat is mithya
- We have seen many sannyasi, they give up this world as brahma satyam jagan mithya, but they do not get any benefit out of it. Therefore they come down again to open hospitals and schools and philanthropic work. They fall down
- We have to give up all this (wealth and possessions) and take shelter of Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and worship Him. Nor can we worship Him whimsically, but as He desires. If Krsna says, "I want a glass of water," we must bring Him water
- We have to give up anacara, forbidden things, sinful things. Striyah suna panam dyutam yatra papas catur-vidhah (SB 1.17.38). There are four kinds of sinful activities. Basic principle of sinful life is avaidha, illicit sex life
- We have to give up our this sense gratification process, and that is the teaching of Lord Caitanya. And Caitanya Mahaprabhu practically demonstrated how to adopt that life of pure sense gratification, or pure utilization of the senses
- We have to give up the association of rajo-guna and tamo-guna. Then there is question of progress. Otherwise it is simply bluff
- We have to give up the false, illusory servant, son, father or lover, for they will surely cheat us. We may love our son with our heart and soul, but that very son may some day be our enemy
- We have to give up this habit that "I am master, I can enjoy. I can do. I am independent." You have to give up this habit. Then you will be eligible for going back to home, back to Godhead
- We have to voluntarily give up these habits (illicit sex life, intoxication, meat-eating and gambling). That is called austerity, penance
- We know that this is all a well-planned trick. You know how to make jokes that cause the complete annihilation of women, but we can understand that Your real mind, words and behavior are different. Therefore please give up all these clever tricks
- We recommend, who is joining Krsna consciousness movement that, "You should give up this habit: illicit sex, intoxication, gambling and meat-eating." These four things will keep me in the lower status of life
- We say no meat-eating and no intoxication. So if all people become Krsna conscious and give up drinking and smoking, the big business, breweries and cigarette manufacturers, will be closed
- We say: You rascal, you don't be overintelligent. You submit to God, you'll be happy. Because you cannot become intelligent, you are rascal. So give up this rascaldom, sarva-dharman parityajya (BG 18.66). Simply surrender to Krsna. Then you'll be happy
- We should give up all our tiny efforts to defy the arrangement of Krsna. Instead, whatever arrangements He proposes, we should accept. This is always better, for this will make us happy
- We should not give up anything. That is not Krsna consciousness. That is not advice of Lord Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita. He never says (to) Arjuna that "You give up this fighting and go to the Himalayas and sit down silently there to meditation
- We should not give up our duty because mosquito is biting or some bed bug is biting. So, so many dualities that we have to tolerate
- We should not go mad or give up our duty just because mosquitoes bite us. There are so many dualities one has to tolerate, but if the mind is fixed in Krsna consciousness, all these dualities will seem insignificant
- We should not mistakenly think that the idea of giving up everything implies the renunciation of duties necessary in relation to the body and mind. Even such duties are not sense gratification if they are undertaken in a spirit of service to Krsna
- We sometimes see a beloved wife becoming proud of her position and then frustrated due to some neglect. She then gives up caring for her appearance, accepts dirty clothes and morosely sits on the ground and draws lines with her nails
- We want to lord it over the material nature. So, so long we do not give up this propensity of lording it over the material nature, up to that time there is no possibility of going back to the kingdom of the Supreme, the sanatana-dhama
- We're angry. This anger is service of Krsna. How can I give up anger? But we use anger in a different way, not for our sense gratification: "Why you have not paid me such-and-such money?" No, we don't say like that. "Why you are not KC?" That's our anger
- Western country youngsters giving up illicit sex, intoxication, meat eating and gambling is certainly a great reverse in the activities of maya. Therefore she took advantage of my old age weakness and gave me a death dash
- What is Krsna gives? Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja (BG 18.66). This is law. The first giver of law is Krsna that, "You give up all nonsense. Surrender unto Me." This is law

- When a living entity gives up the material coverings, he remains a spirit soul. This spirit soul must enter into the spiritual sky to merge into the Brahman effulgence
- When a living entity gives up this material embodiment and enters into the spiritual world, he can hear and speak to Him face to face, and he can understand the Supreme Personality as He is. BG 1972 purports
- When a living entity gives up this material embodiment and enters into the spiritual world, he revives his spiritual body, and in his spiritual body he can see the Supreme Personality of Godhead face to face. BG 1972 purports
- When a man gives up all varieties of desire for sense gratification, which arise from mental concoction, and when his mind, thus purified, finds satisfaction in the self alone, then he is said to be in pure transcendental consciousness

- When He (Krsna) says, sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja (BG 18.66) - "Give up all other duties and surrender unto Me" - He is speaking not only to Arjuna but to everyone
