- In this material world a person may be known as a hero in mental speculation (jnana-vira), or he may be a very famous renunciant. In any case, Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 3.23.56) gives the following opinion in this matter - in CC Madhya 17.185
- In this way (by reading books like Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta and The Nectar of Devotion), one becomes more and more purified of material contamination
- In this way their arguments appear in various forms, but the poetry of the Bhagavatam expertly refutes them all
- Is there any contradiction in such statements (of SB 3.2.17)? Vasudeva, due to his great appreciation for Krsna, wanted to give Him protection. He never thought that Krsna was the Supreme Lord and could protect Himself; he thought of Krsna as his son
- It (Srimad-Bhagavatam) includes literature, poetry, astronomy, philosophy, religion, and love of Godhead. Srimad-bhagavatam pramanam amalam
- It (Srimad-Bhagavatam) was written to enable one to understand the Absolute Truth through infallible logic and argument, and therefore its natural commentary, Srimad-Bhagavatam, is extremely elaborate
- It (the Srimad-Bhagavatam) is para, or supreme, because although it is enriched with all knowledge and religion, it is specifically enriched with the devotional service of the Lord
- It appears from many Vedic literatures, especially histories like Srimad-Bhagavatam and the puranas, that the pious kings of old used to tour their kingdoms in order to give protection to the pious citizens and to chastise or kill the impious
- It is (Srimad-Bhagavatam) called brahma-sammitam because it is the sound representative of Lord Krsna - like the Bhagavad-gita
- It is also said that whoever makes a gift of this great work on a full-moon day attains to the highest perfection of life and goes back to Godhead
- It is clearly understood from the life story of the great sage Narada, which is related in Srimad-Bhagavatam. By serving Vaisnavas in his previous life, Narada was favored by the devotees of the Lord and became a great sage
- It is corroborated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.26) that those who actually desire liberation abandon worship of the demigods, and, without envy, concentrate their minds in the worship of Narayana, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- It is for simply developing your lost consciousness, Krsna consciousness. That is Srimad-Bhagavatam. Because originally we are Krsna conscious. Because we are all part and parcel of Krsna; therefore Krsna & our relationship cannot be, I mean, eliminated
- It is not for them - salvationists or monists to deal in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- It is Pradyumna who gives Brahma direction for cosmic management. A full description of Brahma’s birth is given in Srimad-Bhagavatam - 3.8.15 - 16
- It is recorded in Srimad-Bhagavatam that Maharaja Dhruva sought out the Supreme Lord because he wanted to get some land, but when he finally saw Krsna, he said, "I am so pleased, I don't want anything"
- It is regrettable that in India, where these literatures are available, people are not interested. They are interested in Marxist literature but not Srimad-Bhagavatam, and this is India's misfortune
- It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that our senses are imperfect, all of them. We cannot understand even the material world perfectly
- It is said that this Srimad-Bhagavatam is just like the ripened fruit of Vedic knowledge, and at the same time it is touched by Sukadeva Gosvami, Suta's spiritual master. Suka means parrot in Sanskrit
- It is Srimad-Bhagavatam's opinion that the process of Deity worship is not actually necessary, just as the specific prescriptions of the Pancaratra & other scriptures do not have to be followed
- It is Srimad-Bhagavatam’s opinion that the process of Deity worship is not actually necessary, just as the specific prescriptions of the Pancaratra and other scriptures do not have to be followed

- It is stated there (in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the Visnu Purana, and the Mahabharata) that the Lord snatched a gray hair and a black hair from His head and that these 2 hairs entered into the wombs of 2 queens of the Yadu dynasty, namely Rohini and Devaki

J
- Janmady asya yatah, that is the first Vedanta-sutra. The Srimad-Bhagavatam is the natural commentary on Vedanta-sutra. Vedanta-sutra philosophy was expounded by Vyasadeva, mahamuni
- Jiva Gosvami, the greatest scholar of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Jnana-yajna, this philosophical discussion, logical discussion of the aim of life from authorized books like Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, if we have discussion, this is called jnanamaya-yajna, with knowledge

- Kings or executive heads of all states must know the codes of Lord Krsna (generally Bhagavad-gita & Srimad-Bhagavatam) and must act accordingly in order to fulfill the mission of human life, which is to make an end to all miseries of material conditions
- Krsna consciousness is being distributed freely everywhere, yet not everyone takes to it, especially in this age of Kali. Because of this, Srimad-Bhagavatam characterizes people in the age of Kali as unfortunate
- Krsna consciousness is very sublime. We should try to understand it from Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita and try to engage our senses for the service of the master of the senses (hrsikena hrsikesa-sevanam). Then we shall actually be happy
- Krsna is called ajitah - unconquerable - for no one can conquer God, but according to SB, one with this attitude ("I am Your eternal servitor. Please let me somehow engage in Your service") easily conquers the Supreme
- Krsna is just like the sun, and maya or material existence is just like darkness. Wherever there is the light of the sun, darkness or ignorance at once vanishes. The best means to get out of the world of ignorance is suggested here
- Krsna lifted Govardhana Hill with the small finger of His left hand and used it as an umbrella to save all the people of Vrndavana from Indra's torrents. All of this is related in Srimad-Bhagavatam

- Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam (SB 1.3.28) is the statement of Srimad-Bhagavatam: Krsna is the only Supreme Lord
L
- Liberation entails freedom from all false conceptions. It is not that upon liberation one acquires ten hands. In Srimad-Bhagavatam liberation is defined as muktir hitvanyatha-rupam
- Like the pictures we have in the Bhagavatam and the Gita, then we can make them into doll displays, some of those pictures

- Lord Caitanya elaborated on these teachings of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 10.87.30) by pointing out that there are two kinds of living entities - the eternally liberated and the eternally conditioned
- Lord Caitanya explained a very famous verse known as the Atmarama verse, which appears in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Lord Caitanya has made all these subject matters (Bhagavad-gita and Bhagavata Purana) easier for the fallen people of this age to accept, and Sri Caitanya-caritamrta has therefore presented them for the easy understanding of all concerned
- Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu selected these two books (Bhagavad-gita & Srimad-Bhagavatam) and requested that people in all corners of the world spread this science of Krsna in every town and village
- Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu visited the house of Vallabha Acarya on the other side of Prayaga, in a place known as Adaila-grama. Later, Vallabha Bhatta saw Caitanya Mahaprabhu at Jagannatha Puri to explain his commentary on Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Lord Jesus is a living example how one has to suffer in this material world simply for the matter of preaching the message of God. In Bhagavatam also there is another example like Lord Jesus. He is Prahlada Maharaja a boy of five years old
- Lord Siva says, As far as Bhagavatam is concerned, I may know it, or Sukadeva or Vyasadeva may know it - but actually Bhagavatam is to be understood by devotional service and from a devotee, and not by one's own intelligence or by academic commentaries
M
- Madame Sumati Morarjee is a great friend of our Krishna Consciousness Movement. I first met her in connection with the printing of my Srimad-Bhagavatam and she was so kind as to immediately pay me 500 Rupees for it
- Maharaja Pariksit was placed in an awkward position so that gradually Srimad-Bhagavatam could be revealed
- Man is suffering due to his insatiable desires and lusts. Not only is man suffering, but the planet on which he resides, his mother earth, represented in Srimad-Bhagavatam by mother cow, is also suffering
- Many Acaryas made elaborate commentaries on the Bhagavatam
- Material life means attachment for women, children, friends, countrymen, position, wealth, and good name. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam material existence is compare to a forest full of plunderers, dacoits, jackals, tigers and other ferocious animals
- Material nature cannot independently become an agent for supplying the material ingredients. This is more clearly explained by Sri Kapiladeva, an incarnation of Godhead, in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 3.28.40
- Modern enterprisers (the astronauts who travel in space) may take information from Srimad-Bhagavatam that in space there are fourteen divisions of planetary systems. The situation is calculated from the earthly planetary system, which is called Bhurloka
- My cultural mission as I have tried to explain in my books Srimad Bhagwatam has been highly appreciated by all responsible quarters in India including the Late Prime Minister Lal Bhadur Shastri
- My dear Lord, You are the original speaker of the Bhagavatam. You therefore know its real import. But for You, no one can understand the confidential meaning of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- My guru maharaj used to spend lots of money on doll exhibitions on Srimad-Bhagavatam. So I am sure that if we make doll exhibitions very prominent many tourists and visitors will throng in our temples
N
- Naradaji has instructed many kings from time immemorial. In the Bhagavatam we can see that he instructed Prahlada Maharaja while he was in the womb of his mother, and he instructed Vasudeva, father of Krsna, as well as Maharaja Yudhisthira
- Nigama-kalpa-taror galitam phalam: (SB 1.1.3) Srimad-Bhagavatam is the essence of Vedic culture. It is a wish-fulfilling tree, and we can take whatever we want from it
- No one can understand the author's mind unless the author himself discloses the purpose behind his writing. Therefore Vedanta-sutra should be understood through Srimad-Bhagavatam, the commentary written by the author of Vedanta-sutra
O
- Obeisances unto the Personality of Godhead, Vasudeva (om namo bhagavate vasudevaya), directly indicate Lord Sri Krsna, who is the divine son of Vasudeva and Devaki. This fact is more explicitly presented later in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Offering everything to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as enjoined by Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, is better than impersonally making the Supreme Lord subject to our work, but it is still short of surrendering activities to the Supreme Lord
- One can execute this transcendental activities staying as he is, but he must follow and try to apply in practical life the instructions as they are given in the Bhagavad Gita or Srimad-Bhagwatam, received through the proper channel
- One can sit on the vyasasana only after being conversant in all systems of philosophy so that one can present fully the theistic views of the Bhagavatam in defiance of all other systems
- One cannot understand Bhagavad-gita or Srimad-Bhagavatam without the help of such confidential devotees of the Lord
- One cannot understand the meaning of the Vedanta-sutra without going through Srimad-Bhagavatam and rendering devotional service
- One has to hear. It is not very difficult. But people have become so rascal, so foolish, they will not hear. We are requesting. We have not manufactured anything. It is all authorized, authorized books, Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavata, Vedic literature
- One may argue that Maha-Visnu cannot have any connection with the material qualities, because if He were so connected, Srimad-Bhagavatam would not state that material nature, ashamed of her thankless task, remains behind the Lord in shyness
- One may consult the books left by Srila Vyasadeva (for protection from reactions of ignorance), Upanisads, Vedanta-sutra (Brahma-sutra), Mahabharata, Srimad-Bhagavatam Maha-Purana (Vyasadeva's commentary on the Brahma-sutra) & the other seventeen Puranas
- One may remain a householder, a medical practitioner, an engineer or whatever. It doesn’t matter. One only has to follow the instruction of Sri Caitanya, chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra and instruct relatives and friends in the teachings of the BG & SB
- One need only chant Hare Krsna, accept the remnants of foodstuffs offered to Krsna, have some discussion on books like Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, and engage oneself in Deity worship. These four will make one happy. BG 1972 purports
- One of the bhagavatas is the great scripture Srimad-Bhagavatam, and the other is the pure devotee absorbed in the mellows of loving devotion
- One should always think about and describe the Supreme Personality of Godhead, for this is recommended in both the Bhagavad-gita and the Bhagavata Purana, which are two authorized commentaries upon the Vedas
- One should consult the discussion between Kapiladeva and Devahuti on the subject matter of devotional service. This is found in Srimad-Bhagavatam, Third Canto
- One should give up the artificial process of philosophical speculation to arrive at the real goal of life, but one should submissively hear about the philosophy of KC, which is generally inculcated in Srimad Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- One should have the common sense to ask why, if Krsna or Rama were fictitious, stalwart scholars like Sanatana Gosvami, Viraraghava and many other recognized acaryas would have spent so much time to write about Krsna in notes and commentaries on SB
- One should have the common sense to ask why, if Krsna or Rama were fictitious, stalwart scholars like Sridhara Svami, Rupa Gosvami and many other recognized acaryas would have spent so much time to write about Krsna in notes and commentaries on SB
- One should have the common sense to ask why, if Krsna or Rama were fictitious, stalwart scholars like Vijayadhvaja, Vallabhacarya and many other recognized acaryas would have spent so much time to write about Krsna in notes and commentaries on SB
- One should not consider Bhagavad-gita or Srimad-Bhagavatam to be ordinary books, and one should take care of them just as carefully as one takes care of the Deity
- One who comments on Srimad-Bhagavatam following in the footsteps of Sridhara Svami will be honored and accepted by everyone
- One who is imbued with sincere inquiries must ask the bona fide spiritual master in the disciplic succession from Brahmaji, and that is the direction given here
- One who only understands that "God is good" is in a preliminary stage, but one who actually understands how great and good God is, is further progressed. That knowledge is to be had in Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita
- Original sloka, its transliteration, then its English equivalent, then translation, then purport, each and every verse is being done like that, whole Bhagavatam Purana
- Our process will remain the same eternally, namely, to begin with Sankirtana and prolong it at least for 1/2 hour, then speak something from Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Brahma Samhita, etc. and invite questions and answer them
- Our program for Krishna Consciousness is solid, and backed by most authoratative literature--Bhagavad Gita, and Srimad Bhagwatam; there is no question of our not being popular to the world. Simply we have to present ourselves in true perspective
- Our program for Krishna Consciousness is solid, and backed by most authoritative literature - Bhagavad-gita, and Srimad-Bhagavatam; there is no question of our not being popular to the world. Simply we have to present ourselves in true perspective
- Out of the nine different transcendental means of devotional service to the Lord prescribed in the Bhagavatam, either all of them, or some of them or even one of them are equally beneficial if properly discharged
- Out of those rare human beings those who are conscious of the material problems are rarer still, and the still more rare persons are those who are conscious of the value of the Srimad-Bhagavatam which contains the messages of the Lord & His pure devotees
P
- Pariksit was to die within 7 days, and he immediately left his kingdom and family & went to the bank of the Ganges, sat down there tightly without taking even a drop of water; simply with great seriousness he heard Srimad-Bhagavatam. And he got salvation
- People are accustomed to being misled by professional Bhagavatam reciters. Therefore Svarupa Damodara Gosvami herein (CC Antya 5.131) advises that one should not hear Srimad-Bhagavatam from professional reciters
- People generally execute religious principles for some material gain. That is warning. Bhagavata is warning, na arthaya upakalpate: don't execute religious performances simply for material gain
- Please accept my greetings and thanks for your appreciative review of Srimad-Bhagavatam. I am trying my best to publish the entire Srimad-Bhagavatam, which will be about 60 volumes. Thank you very much for your encouragement
- Please assist me in the management so that I can be free to finish the Srimad-Bhagavatam which will be our lasting contribution to the world
- Practical lessons from the pages of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Practically speaking, this process is not very easy in this age of Kali. In Srimad-Bhagavatam a description is given of the people of this age. Their duration of life is said to be very short
- Professional reciters have created the impression that Srimad-Bhagavatam deals only with Krsna’s rasa-lila, although Krsna’s rasa-lila is described only in chapters 29 through 33 of the Tenth Canto
- Publication of Srimad Bhagavatam
- Pure devotees, who take transcendental pleasure in hearing and chanting the glories of God, do not care for any kind of liberation; even if they are offered the five liberations, they refuse to accept them, as stated in the Bhagavatam in the Third Canto
R
- Real Vedanta is Srimad-Bhagavatam, because this is commentary. Bhasya ayam brahma-sutranam (Garuda Purana). Brahma-sutra is Vedanta
- Recently they (modern scientists) have said that they have gone to the moon but did not find any living entities there. But Srimad-Bhagavatam and the other Vedic literatures do not agree with this foolish conception
- Regarding the activities of the Vaikuntha Players, it is very nice to hear that you are taking information from our Srimad-Bhagavatam and Krsna Book for presenting everything very authoritatively, without any deviation from the sastras
- Regarding the MacMillan Company's printing Srimad Bhagavatam, we may note herewith that the MacMillan's publication of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is and our publication of Teachings of Lord Chaitanya is the difference between heaven and hell
- Regarding the spiritual science of the Self, there are many literatures, such as the four Vedas, the Vedanta-sutra and the Puranas, the Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Gita. These are all representatives of Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- Regarding your working on the translation of the second canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, we shall see later on, for now just try to finish what you have begun
- Religious precepts of the Bhagavatam
- Remembering this statement (of Pingala), Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu became ecstatic. The story of Pingala is found in Srimad-Bhagavatam, Eleventh Canto, Eighth Chapter, verses 22-44, as well as in the Mahabharata, Santi-parva, Chapter 174
- Ritualistic activities for economic development and sense gratification and, after frustration in sense gratification, the desire to become one with the Supreme Lord, are all completely rejected in the Bhagavatam
S
- Sadhu-sastra-guru-vakya tinete kariya aikya. Our process is deductive, not inductive. We take knowledge, just like this Srimad-Bhagavatam written by Vyasadeva under the instruction of his guru, spiritual master, Narada
- Sanatana Gosvami was saved from a hellish condition (Maharaurava) by the grace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Maharaurava is a hell wherein animal killers are placed. In this regard, refer to Srimad-Bhagavatam - 5.26.10-12
- SB (6.2.14) indicates that the chanting of the HK maha-mantra, even in joking, in the course of ordinary discussion, in indicating something extraneous, or in negligence, is called namabhasa, which is chanting that is almost on the transcendental stage
- SB describes the reception given to Balarama and Krsna by the peacocks of Vrndavana: O worshipable one, just see how the peacocks that are returning to their nests are receiving You with full pleasure. These peacocks are just like the damsels of Vraja
- Sex urge is a symptom of every living entity, but in the SB it is advised that it is something like the itching propensity. If one can tolerate this itching, he can save himself from enormous troublesome business resulting from this itching sensation
- Similarly, there is a list in the Srimad-Bhagavatam for worshipers of all demigods, according to different material desires
- Simply by aural reception of these two books (Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam) from the bona fide spiritual master, one becomes enlightened about devotional service, which is dormant within the heart
- Since the material world is compared herein to a forest, it may be argued that in Kali-yuga modern civilization is mainly situated in the cities. A great city, however, is like a great forest. Actually city life is more dangerous than life in the forest
- Smarta-brahmanas and Mayavadis do not believe that one can achieve liberation in this way (by chanting the holy name of the Lord), but the truth of Haridasa Thakura's statement is supported by many quotations from Srimad-Bhagavatam
- So Bhagavad-gita is the preliminary book to understand God and surrender. And from the surrendering point, further progress, that is Srimad-Bhagavatam. And when the love is intense, to make it more intensified, that is Caitanya-caritamrta
- So Bhagavata can be expanded to any unlimited. So anything in relationship with God, that is Bhagavatam. So if Joan of Arc, she was in relationship with God, she is also Bhagavatam. You should expand Bhagavatam in that way
- So far as Indian philosophy is concerned, Vedanta Sutra is the topmost, and Srimad Bhagavatam is the natural commentary on Vedanta Sutra
- So spiritual training should be given from the very beginning. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Prahlada Maharaja has instructed that spiritual consciousness or Krishna Consciousness should be taught to the children from the very beginning
- So Srimad-Bhagavatam is the last gift of Srila Vyasadeva to represent an authorized commentation of the Vedanta Sutra and Lord Caitanya's mission is to preach this cult in every corner of the world in order to make the people really happy
- So this Bhagavata religion is not a cheating religion. This is real religion. Don't be carried away by cheating type of religion. You do not understand what is the value of life, what is the goal of life, how we can revive our eternal life
- So Vyasadeva accepts Krsna as the Supreme Person. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam he has given the description of the different incarnations; there are twenty-five of Them
- So-called Vedantists are simply reading this Sariraka-bhasya. They are not reading other bhasyas, like the Srimad-Bhagavatam, which is natural. And they are cheating people. That's all
- Some people say that for spiritual realization there is no need for a spiritual master, but so far as Vedic literature is concerned, and as far as Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Upanisads are concerned, there is need of a spiritual master
- Sometimes brahmanas protest against our Krsna consciousness movement for creating brahmanas from Europeans, or, in other words, from mlecchas and yavanas. This movement, however, is here supported in Srimad-Bhagavatam - 7.11.17
- Sometimes less intelligent men try to hear about the rasa dance of Krsna and do not take care to hear about other portions of Srimad-Bhagavatam, which they completely avoid
- Sometimes people indulge in hearing portions of Srimad-Bhagavatam which they are not prepared to hear
- Sometimes service to the devotee is more valuable than service to the Lord (Krsna). But here the affection of Kuntidevi for the Pandavas and the Vrsnis was due to family relation
- Sometimes the critics of Srimad-Bhagavatam find it difficult to find Radharani’s holy name in that book, but the secret is disclosed here in (CC Madhya 8.100) the word aradhita, from which the name Radha has come
- Sri Caitanya confirms the conclusion of SB on the strength of His philosophy of acintya-bhedabheda-tattva. That philosophy holds that the Supreme Lord is simultaneously one with and different from His creation. That is to say, there is unity in diversity
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced these two things, sankirtana and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu never discussed the topics of Rasaleela in public audience, but only with the most confidential associates. It is not for materialistic persons. I suggested you film the Srimad Bhagavatam, starting with the First Canto
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu presented Himself as a grand fool, yet He maintained that all the words that He had heard from His spiritual master strictly followed the principles stated by Vyasadeva in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 1.7.6
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu replied, "Why are you glorifying Me personally? You should understand the transcendental position of Srimad-Bhagavatam. Why don't you consider this important point"
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, as an ideal teacher, or acarya, explained Srimad-Bhagavatam very elaborately Himself. He sometimes also empowered His devotees to speak while He listened. This is the way an acarya should train his disciples
- Sri Krsna assures the dvija-patnis in Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.23.31-32): Because you are My pure devotees, not only your relatives but also people in general, as well as the demigods, will be satisfied with you
- Sri Krsna assures the dvija-patnis in Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.23.31-32): My dear dvija-patnis, rest assured that your husbands will not neglect you on your return, nor will your brothers, sons or fathers refuse to accept you
- Sri Uddhava's actual life is the direct symbol of the catuh-sloki Bhagavatam enunciated first to Brahmaji by the Personality of Godhead
- Sridhara Svami's commentary on the Srimad-Bhagavatam, "Such a transcendental devotee regards any kind of happiness other than devotional service as no better than straw in the street"
- Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura remarks - The impersonalists worship imaginary forms, but neither Srimad-Bhagavatam nor Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu accepts this sense gratificatory worship to be of any spiritual significance
- Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura states that without studying Srimad-Bhagavatam one cannot understand the purport of the Brahma-sutra (Vedanta-sutra) or the Upanisads
- Srila Jiva Gosvami, in the comments of his Krama-sandarbha annotation of Srimad-Bhagavatam, cites quotations from the Garga Upanisad Vedic evidence
- Srila Sridhara Svami points out that there are many of the oldest puranas which make reference to the Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Srila Vyasadeva at once accepts the supreme mind as the paramesvara, the supreme controller. As stated in Bhagavad-gita and all other scriptures written by Vyasadeva, that paramesvara is Krsna Himself. This is specifically validated in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Srila Vyasadeva compiled the Vedanta-sutra, and in order to protect it from unauthorized commentaries, he personally composed Srimad-Bhagavatam on the instruction of his spiritual master, Narada Muni, as the original commentary on the Vedanta-sutra
- Srila Vyasadeva considered that whatever he had received from Narada Muni as an explanation of omkara he would elaborately explain in his book Srimad-Bhagavatam as a commentary on the Brahma-sutra
- Srila Vyasadeva prepared Srimad-Bhagavatam at the request of Narada Muni in order to give relief to the suffering people of this age - kali-kalmasa-ghnam
- Srimad Bhagavatam was written by Vyasadeva when he was self-realized
- Srimad-Bhagavata or Bhagavad-gita, if anyone is intelligent he'll know that it is combination of religious sentiment plus philosophy. To understand religion on the basis of philosophy and logic, not blindly accepting
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (2.3.10) enjoins: "A person who has broader intelligence, whether he is full of all material desire, is free from material desire, or has a desire for liberation, must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.14): It is the Supreme Personality of Godhead alone who is the master of all devotees, whose name one should always chant and who should always be meditated upon and worshiped regularly

- There is complete agreement between Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Brahma-samhita
- There is need of a clue as to how humanity can become one in peace, friendship and prosperity with a common cause. Srimad-Bhagavatam will fill this need, for it is a cultural presentation for the respiritualization of the entire human society
- There is no chronological history of all the Indian kings in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- There is no comparison. The Christians, they can present only one small Bible, and the Muslims they can present one little Koran. But here, the Vedic culture is so great that we can simply give you sixty volumes like this only for Srimad-Bhagavatam
- There is no literature throughout the universe like Srimad-Bhagavatam. There is no comparison. There is no competition. Every word is for the good of the human society
- There is no more better form of worship than it was conceived by the damsels of Vraja. Srimad-bhagavatam amalam puranam. And the books, authoritative literature, to understand Krsna and His service is Srimad-Bhagavatam
- There is no utility simply in imitating Maharaja Pariksit and hearing Bhagavatam from professional men, even for seven hundred years. To take Srimad-Bhagavatam as a means of maintaining family expenditure is the grossest type of namaparadha
- There is now a system of Bhagavata business, with recitations called bhagavata-saptaha that continue for one week, although this is not mentioned in SB. Nowhere does SB say that the Bhagavatam should be heard for one week from professionals
- There is reference to Srimad-Bhagavatam in other Puranas which even indicate that the work consists of Twelve Cantos and eighteen thousand slokas
- There is so much information to gather from Srimad-Bhagavatam. Modern scientists, however, have no information of other planetary systems and, indeed, are hardly conversant with the planet on which we are now living
- Therefore (Because Srimad-Bhagavatam removes the material covering) it is particularly mentioned herein that Srimad-Bhagavatam acts like the lamp of transcendental knowledge
- These (when a devotee’s service has no material cause and is purely spiritual in nature) are characteristics of transcendental love of Godhead, as stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam - 1.2.6
- These are (Katha Upanisad 2.3.9, 12 and Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.84.13) some Vedic statements about spiritual substance. Spiritual substance cannot be seen by the unintelligent, because they do not have the eyes or the mentality to see the spirit soul
- These are important instructions given directly by Lord Krsna (Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.20.31). Sri Uddhava asked the Lord about the two kinds of instructions given in the Vedas. One instruction is called pravrtti-marga, and the other is called nivrtti-marga
- These songs (from CC Antya 19.108) of Srimad-Bhagavatam are verses 15-24 of the Ninetieth Chapter of the Tenth Canto

- These three verses (appearing in CC Adi-lila 4.207) from Srimad-Bhagavatam (3.29.11-13) were spoken by Lord Krsna in the form of Kapiladeva
- These two books will give you sufficient knowledge, and we should take advantage of it, because our consciousness is developed. We should not waste our time simply reading these all nonsense literatures, sex literatures

- These verses (of CC Madhya 14.8) from Srimad-Bhagavatam, Canto Ten, Chapter Thirty-one, constitute what is known as the Gopi-gita
- They (American boys and girls) do not know what is happening from day to day, and it does not matter. All of this is a waste of time. It is better that they read literatures like Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita. Why waste one's valuable time
- They (Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta and Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu) are adequate for the understanding of the philosophy and the spreading of missionary activities all over the world
- They (fulfilled prophecies) will indicate the positive standing of Srimad-Bhagavatam, which is without trace of mistake, illusion, cheating and imperfection, which are the four flaws of all conditioned souls
- They (professional reciters) have in this way (by creating the impression that SB deals only with Krsna's rasa-lila) presented Krsna to the Western world as a great woman-hunter, & therefore we sometimes have to deal with such misconceptions in preaching
- They (professional reciters) want to finish Srimad-Bhagavatam in a week, although it is so sublime that even one verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam, if properly explained, cannot be completed in three months
- They are not my books, since I have simply translated; but my purports for each and every verse from the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam do very much appeal to the people in general as well as learned circles
- They have different types of dharmas, but real dharma is bhagavata-dharma, what we learn from Srimad-Bhagavatam, to deal with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Bhagavan. That is called bhagavatan
- They should learn from the Srimad-Bhagavatam how ideal the administrators must be before they can be given charge of different posts
- This (accepting knowledge from perfect books of knowledge such as Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam) then is the process of Krsna consciousness. It is very easy, and anyone can adopt it and make his life perfect

- Those who are not in the disciplic succession and who are not pure devotees cannot understand the real mysterious objective of Srimad-Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad-gita
