A
- A clear conception of the complete whole is given herewith - in SB 3.28.41
- A devotee is not concerned with enjoyment or distress; he simply desires to execute devotional service. It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that devotional service should be apratihata, unchecked by the material conditions of happiness or distress

- Because men in this material world cannot lift a hill, they do not believe that the Lord can lift one. They accept the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam to be allegorical, and they try to interpret them in their own way
- Because they have no information of the Vaikuntha planets, they again come to these material planet. That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Because they have no rest, they become perturbed
- Being Krsna's incarnation, Kapiladeva is also a shelter. Krsna has unlimited forms and unlimited incarnations. It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam that His incarnations are expanding continuously, like waves in the ocean. Indeed, we cannot even count them
- Bhagavata communism says that even if you have got a lizard in your room, you must give him something to eat. If you have got a serpent in your room, you must give it something to eat. Nobody in your house should starve

- Civilized society means he must know, he must undergone the all the regulative principles. But at the present moment, in the Bhagavata it is said, asamskrta: Without any reformatory method
- Complete attainment of the lotus feet of Lord Krsna is made possible by love of Godhead, specifically madhurya-rasa, or conjugal love. Lord Krsna is indeed captivated by this standard of love. This is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam

- Devahuti was very careful about that, and it is said here (SB 3.23.3) that she gave up pride completely
- Devaki is also an expansion of Krsna, and therefore this verse (SB 10.3.8) says, devakyam deva-rupinyam visnuh sarva-guha-sayah
- Devotees of God are not defeated anywhere in the universe. It is stated, narayana-parah sarve: one who is narayana-para, or a devotee of the Supreme Personality of God, is not afraid anywhere, whether he is sent to hell or promoted to heaven - SB 6.17.28
- Devotional service does not depend on material assessment. It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam, "ahaituki apratihata"
- Dhruva Maharaja offered his prayers to the Lord not in the way of the impersonalist philosophers, but as a devotee. Therefore, it is clearly said here (in SB 4.9.5), bhakti-bhava
- Doctor says, "I am doing my duty." The engineer says, "I am doing my duty." The father says, "I am doing my duty." The mother says, "I am doing my duty." That's all right. But Bhagavata says, "Thank you very much, that you are doing your duty"

- Each and every planet within the universe travels at a very high speed. From a statement in Srimad-Bhagavatam it is understood that even the sun travels sixteen thousand miles in a second
- Eko narayana asit: "Only Narayana existed before the creation." Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Vedanta-sutra also say that the original cause is sentient and both indirectly and directly cognizant of everything within this creation
- Elsewhere in the Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that for those who have taken shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, this material world is useless
- Even a machine needs separate energy. It is stated in this verse (SB 4.9.7) that the material energy acts in varieties of material bodies, just as fire burns differently in different wood according to the size and quality of the wood
- Even if one is born in a non-brahmana family, if he has the brahminical qualifications he should be accepted as a brahmana, as confirmed by Srila Narada Muni and the great saint Sridhara Svami. This is also stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Even the demons can be transformed into demigods, as the statement of this verse (SB 6.18.19) proves
- Even those who are on the path of salvation desire to become one with the Absolute Truth and desire to commit spiritual suicide for sense gratification. But the Bhagavatam says that one should not live for sense gratification
- Even when one performs yajnas, as stated here (in SB 4.24.62) (kriya-kalapaih), he should always remember that the demigods are but agents of the Supreme Lord. Actually the worshipful Lord is Visnu, Yajnesvara
- Everything belongs to God. You are sons of God. You have got the right to use father's property, but do not take more than you need. That is punishable. These things are stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Stena eva sa ucyate
- Everything is related to Him, and everything has its identity in Him. It is stated herein (SB 1.1.14) that the name of Krsna is feared even by fear personified. This indicates that the name of Krsna is nondifferent from Krsna
- Everything we are giving distinctly. Not blindly, but there is philosophy, there is reason, there is logic, and these are all stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, sixty volumes

- Factually, according to the instructions of Srimad-Bhagavatam, every grhastha is a great communist who provides the means of living for everyone
- Factually, however, pravrtti-marga is based on sex life. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 7.9.45), yan maithunadi-grhamedhi-sukham hi tuccham. A householder who is too much addicted to pravrtti-marga is actually called a grhamedhi, not a grhastha
- Faltering of the voice resulting from wonder was exhibited by Brahma. It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam, Tenth Canto, 13th Chapter, 59th verse that, after bowing down before Lord Krsna, when Brahma began to rise he prayed to the Lord in a faltering voice
- For the association of pure devotees, all other association is kaitava, or cheating. This is confirmed in the First Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam wherein it is stated that all cheating processes which obstruct transcendental realization are to be thrown off
- From the statement of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 10.2.18) it is understood that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, having been transferred from the heart of Anakadundubhi, or Vasudeva, manifested Himself in the heart of Devaki
- From the very beginning, Srimad-Bhagavatam says, satyam param dhimahi: (SB 1.1.1) we meditate on the supreme truth. The supreme truth is explained here (in SB 5.12.11) as jnanam visuddham satyam
- From this statement it appears that town and city planning is not new but has been coming down since the time of King Prthu. In India we can see regular planning methods evident in very old cities. In SB there are many descriptions of such ancient cities

- God is great, and everyone is trying to be great like that. That is competition. This is called maya. But our Bhagavata philosophy says that - Don't try artificially in that way. Better remain what you are. Better remain

- Happiness and distress do not hamper the process of devotional service. Therefore Srimad-Bhagavatam says that devotional service is ahaituky apratihata, unmotivated and uninterrupted
- Happiness of humanity at the cost of the lives of poor animals. That is not recommended herein. This verse clearly says that one should be compassionate to all living entities. Regardless of whether human, animal, tree or plant
- Harih sarvesu bhutesu. This statement is sometimes misunderstood by unscrupulous persons who wrongly conclude that because Hari, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is situated in every living entity, every living entity is therefore Hari
- He (Caitanya) further informed Prakasananda Sarasvati that His spiritual master had taught Him that Srimad-Bhagavatam is the actual commentary on Vedanta-sutra, as stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam by Vyasadeva, the author of Vedanta-sutra
- He (Jhadu Thakura) accepts the statements declaring a lowborn person highly exalted if he is a Vaisnava. However, he feels that these descriptions from Srimad-Bhagavatam appropriately describe others, but not himself
- He (Krsna) is never lazy in regard to our deliverance. Therefore this verse (SB 8.3.17) says, bhuri-karunaya namo 'layaya. It is the causeless mercy of the Supreme Lord that He always tries to bring us back home, back to Godhead
- He (mayavadi sannyasi) feels inconvenience without varieties of life. The Bhagavata says, "Their intelligence is not clean." "Although they rise up to the brahma-jyotir," patanty adho tatah, - they again come back
- He (Prahlada Maharaja) says that we have created so many unnecessary things and become entangled by them. In the beginning of SB it is stated that we should desire to get out of this unnecessary trouble and to be free from the problems which are created
- Here (in SB 10.2.32) it is said that persons who think themselves liberated but do not execute devotional service, not knowing their relationship with the Lord, are certainly misled
- Here (in SB 10.2.35) it is said that this vijnanam is always defeating all kinds of speculative knowledge
- Here (in SB 3.21.27) it is clearly stated that Manu and his wife were coming to see Kardama Muni to offer their daughter because the daughter was well qualified and the parents were searching out a similarly qualified man. This is the duty of parents
- Here (in SB 3.28.44) it is stated that the daivi prakrti, or the external energy of the Supreme Lord, is durvibhavya, very difficult to understand and very difficult to conquer
- Here (in SB 3.29.15), significantly, it is stated that every living entity has to live by killing another entity; that is the law of nature
- Here (in SB 3.31.21) it is stated, upasadita-visnu-padah. This means realization of Krsna consciousness
- Here (in SB 4.11.14) it is clearly said that upon pleasing the Supreme Personality of Godhead one immediately attains to the spiritual platform and enjoys unlimited blissful life
- Here (in SB 4.2.30) it is stated, brahma ca brahmanan. Brahma means the Vedas. Aham brahmasmi means "I am in full knowledge
- Here (in SB 4.28.64) it is clearly stated: hamso hamsena pratibodhitah. The individual soul and the Supersoul are both compared to swans (hamsa) because they are white, or uncontaminated
- Here (in SB 7.10.14) it is stated that anyone who chants and hears about the activities of Prahlada Maharaja &, in relationship with Prahlada's activities, the activities of Nrsimhadeva, gradually becomes free from all the bondage of fruitive activities
- Here (in SB 7.15.75) is a statement exalting a Vaisnava
- Here (in SB 7.9.10) is a statement by Prahlada Maharaja, one of the twelve authorities, regarding the distinction between a devotee and a brahmana expert in karma-kanda, or Vedic ritualistic ceremonies
- Here (in SB 8.24.30) it is said, yathetaresam prthag-atmanam satam, padopasarpanam mrsa bhavet. In other words, if one is to worship someone else, he must worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Then his worship will never be fruitless
- Here (in SB 9.2.17) it is said, ksatram brahma-bhuyam gatam ksitau: although the Dharstas belonged to the ksatriya, they were able to convert themselves into brahmanas. This gives clear evidence supporting the statement by Narada in SB 7.11.35
- Here (SB 4.29.3) it is clearly stated: namabhir va kriya-gunaih. The Lord has specific names such as Rama, Krsna, Govinda, Narayana, Visnu and Adhoksaja. There are indeed many names, but the conditioned soul cannot understand them
- Here Bhismadeva says, "as long as I do not quit this body." This means that the great General would quit the body by his own will; he was not being forced by the laws of nature
- Here in (SB 1.18.16) this verse it is said that Maharaja Pariksit attained the lotus feet of the Lord by instructions in knowledge delivered by the son of Vyasadeva, Srila Sukadeva Gosvami
- Here in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the most authentic scripture on the science of Godhead, it is clearly stated that His brothers were His plenary expansions
- Here it is said, mudha, everyone who is simply living in the fool's paradise, manufacturing his own ideas like Ajamila... Somebody has taken, "This is my duty," somebody has... He is a fool. You must know what is your duty from guru
- Herein (SB 1.2.13) the statement of Bhagavatam is that the highest aim of life or the highest perfection of the institution of the varnasrama-dharma is to cooperate jointly for the satisfaction of the Supreme Lord
- Herein (SB 2.7.47) also the same is affirmed in the statements about the material elements; they are all transcendental, free from all contamination of material identification
- How a devotee becomes the greatest of all transcendentalists is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 6.14.5):There are many liberated souls and perfected souls, but out of all of them he who is a devotee of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is best

- I must admit my frailties in presenting Srimad-Bhagavatam, but still I am hopeful of its good reception by the thinkers and leaders of society on the strength of the following statement of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is full of unlimited qualities and whose different potencies bring about agreement and disagreement between disputants
- If a man thinks in the same way, how is he different from any other animal? Srimad-Bhagavatam states: yasyatma-buddhih kunape tri-dhatuke, sva-dhih kalatradisu bhauma ijya-dhih, yat tirtha-buddhih salile na karhicij, janesv abhijnesu sa eva go-kharah
- If He (Krsna) can supply food to the elephants, why not to the human beings? The Bhagavatam therefore says, "Don't waste your time with this bread problem." - SB 1.5.18
- If Lord Krsna is very pleased with a devotee, He takes away his material property, as He states in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 10.88.8): yasyaham anugrhnami harisye tad-dhanam sanaih. "To show special favor to a devotee, I take away all his material property"
- If one chants once only, it is to be understood that he has already passed all the examinations, not to speak of those who are chanting always, twenty-four hours a day. It is specifically said here (in SB 3.33.7), tubhyam: "unto You only

- In SB 3.25.38 the Lord says: Persons who are satisfied with the idea of becoming My adherents alone. They consider that I am their soul, their friend, I am their son, I am their master, I am their well-wisher, I am their God, & I am their supreme goal
- In SB it is stated that man's fear is due to his material conception of life & to his forgetting his eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord. Consequently he finds himself having only perverted memories. This occurs due to the spell of material energy
- In Sri Caitanya-mangala (later known as Sri Caitanya-bhagavata) Srila Vrndavana dasa Thakura has given the conclusion and essence of devotional service by quoting the authoritative statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.1.1) it is also stated: tene brahma hrda ya adi-kavaye. Thus Krsna gives His personal instructions just as Kapiladeva gave His personal instructions

- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 6.3.22) Yamaraja says: Devotional service, beginning with the chanting of the holy name of the Lord, is the ultimate religious principle for the living entity in human society
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 7.13.8) it is said, granthan naivabhyased bahun na vyakhyam upayunjita - One should not read many books, nor should one try to make a profession of reciting many books, especially if one is a devotee
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB Seventh Canto) it is stated that every person belongs to a certain classification. A person is identifiable by the special symptoms mentioned in the sastras. By one’s symptoms, one is known to belong to a certain caste

- In Srimad-Bhagavatam Lord Kapiladeva told His mother that the living entity gets a particular type of body in accordance with his work and that this body is decided upon by higher authorities
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam Narada Muni states that even if a brahmana is in a difficult position, he should not accept the occupation of a sudra. This means that he should not be engaged in service for another, for this is the business of dogs
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam there are statements to the effect that the supreme atma, the Lord, has inconceivable and innumerable potencies
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam there is a description of all kinds of incarnations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and there it is said that Krsna is not an incarnation of God but is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself. BG 1972 purports
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam there is this statement: "My dear Krsna, I cannot say that it is only other people who are implicated in material existence, because I too am much entangled with the bodily concept of life"

- In the First Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is said that the absolute truth is one, and He is manifested as impersonal Brahman, Paramatma (supersoul), and Bhagavan (the Supreme Personality of Godhead). Here is a spiritual distinction
- In the First Canto, 11th Chapter, 24th verse, of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that the special prerogative of the supreme controller is that He is not at all affected by the modes of nature
- In the Padma Purana it is said that those who are envious and always angry at the Lord are unfit to know the actual and eternal form of the Lord. In the Bhagavatam also it is said that the Lord appeared like a thunderbolt to those who were wrestlers

- In the present age the number of demoniac people is increasing; therefore natural disturbances are also increasing. There is no doubt about this, as we can understand from the statements of the Bhagavatam

- In the Third Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam Kapila Muni mentions that those who are expert in fruitive activities and sacrificial methods on earth attain to the moon at death
- In the Third Canto, 2nd Chapter, 13th verse, of Srimad-Bhagavatam there is a statement about this. "The SP of Godhead, in His pleasing dress, appeared at the scene of the sacrificial arena when King Yudhisthira was performing the raja-suya sacrifice"
- In the Twelfth Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is said that in Kali-yuga the government will levy taxes without reciprocally benefiting the citizens
- In this Kali-yuga people are degrading, and the supply also will be reduced. There will be no supply of milk, there will be no supply of sugar. That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. There will be no supply of rice, no supply of wheat

- Instead of deva-rupinyam, some texts of Srimad-Bhagavatam clearly say visnu-rupinyam. In either case, the meaning is that Devaki has the same spiritual form as the Lord - Krsna
- Interplanetary travel by the denizens of higher planets is easy. In many statements in Bhagavatam, we have observed that the demigods from heaven used to visit this earth to attend sacrifices performed by influential kings and emperors
- Is there any contradiction in such statements (of SB 3.2.17)? Vasudeva, due to his great appreciation for Krsna, wanted to give Him protection. He never thought that Krsna was the Supreme Lord and could protect Himself; he thought of Krsna as his son
- It (Bhagavatam) is the ripened fruit of all the Vedas, as stated before. Besides that, the most perfectly liberated soul, Srila Sukadeva Gosvami, is absorbed in the studies of the Bhagavatam, although he is already self-realized
- It (Krsna's sex desire) was, as clearly stated in the Bhagavata description by Sukadeva Gosvami, avaruddha-saurata - the sex impulse was completely controlled
- It appears from the statement of this verse (SB 6.12.26) that sometimes there are flying mountains and that their wings are cut by the thunderbolt of Indra. Vrtrasura's huge body resembled such a mountain

- It is also stated here (in SB 3.29.43) that the total universal body is increasing. It is covered by seven layers, and as there are five elements within the universe, so the total elements, in layers, cover the outside of the universal body

- It is clearly stated here (in SB 3.25.19) that unless one is fully engaged in the devotional service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead one cannot have easy approach to the path of brahma-siddhi
- It is clearly stated here (in SB 3.25.20) that when we simply purify the consciousness from material consciousness to Krsna consciousness, we attain liberation
- It is clearly stated here (in SB 3.29.13) that a pure devotee does not desire ekatva, oneness with the Supreme Lord, as desired by the impersonalists, the mental speculators and the meditators
- It is clearly stated here (in SB 3.29.14) that simply by pure devotional service one becomes qualitatively as good as the Lord Himself
- It is clearly stated here (in SB 4.7.39), by His internal potency He is transcendental to all these material qualities. Similarly, in Bhagavad-gita the Lord says, "I appear by My internal potency
- It is clearly stated in this verse (SB 4.12.36) and is confirmed in Bhagavad-gita, wherein the Lord says that there is no one dearer to Him than those who preach the gospel of Bhagavad-gita to the world
- It is corroborated by this statement of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and also by Brahma-samhita, that the sun appeared after the appearance of the eyes of the universal form of the Lord. The sun is dependent on the eyes of the universal form
- It is definitely stated here that the ladies were smiling there on the top of the palace, checked by shyness
- It is definitely stated that spiritual rasa, which is relished even in the liberated stage, can be experienced in the literature of the Srimad-Bhagavatam due to its being the ripened fruit of all Vedic knowledge

- It is said here (in SB 3.32.28), jnanam ekam. Bhagavad-gita confirms that they are fools who, simply upon seeing Krsna, consider Him a common man. They do not know the unlimited knowledge, power and opulence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead

- It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.5.18), tal labhyate duhkhavad anyatah sukham: As far as material happiness is concerned, that comes without effort, just as tribulations come without effort
- It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.2.37), bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syat: fearfulness is a creation of the bodily conception of life
- It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam that a brahmacari should beg and collect things and then deliver them to his Spiritual Master, and when the Spiritual Master will ask him to come and take prasadam he will do so
- It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam that after hearing the details from Bhrgu Muni the sages were astonished because although Lord Brahma & Lord Siva were immediately agitated, Lord Visnu, in spite of being kicked by Bhrgu Muni, was not agitated in the least
- It is said in Srimad-Bhagavatam that if one gets an opportunity to serve a great soul - a mahatma - his path to liberation is open. However, those who are attached to materialistic persons are on the path of darkness
- It is said in the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam: this material world is conducted by fire, water and earth, which combine and take shape. It is mentioned that the three modes of nature (prthag gunan) act under the direction of different demigods
- It is said in the Bhagavatam that less intelligent people who have lost their spiritual sense take shelter of demigods for immediate fulfillment of material desires. BG 1972 purports
- It is said in the Bhagavatam that liberation can be offered by the Supreme Person, but even if a pure devotee is offered liberation by the Supreme Lord, he refuses to accept it
- It is said in the Second Chapter, Second Canto, of Srimad-Bhagavatam that a fully surrendered soul has no anxiety about the maintenance of his body
- It is said in the Srimad Bhagavatam, that substance called truth, tattva, those who are jnanis they think it is formless, and the yogis understand it as Paramatma, and the devotees understand the truth to be Bhagavan
- It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that our senses are imperfect, all of them. We cannot understand even the material world perfectly
- It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that the length and breadth of the individual soul is approximately 1/10,000th part of the tip of a hair - in other words, it is so small that it is invisible. This is also confirmed in the Svetasvatara Upanisad
- It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that this devotional service is so powerful that even if a devotee occasionally falls down from the standard there is no loss for him
- It is said in the Tenth Canto of the Srimad-Bhagavatam that Lord Krsna is just like the moon and the internal potential damsels are like the stars around the moon
- It is said that everyone is pramattah, or exclusively mad. Nunam pramattah kurute vikarma: (SB 5.5.4) when one becomes almost like a madman, he indulges in sex and sense gratification

- It is said that this Srimad-Bhagavatam is just like the ripened fruit of Vedic knowledge, and at the same time it is touched by Sukadeva Gosvami, Suta's spiritual master. Suka means parrot in Sanskrit
- It is said that, "There will be cloud, there will be lightning, but there will be no rainfall." These are stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. This is the result of our sinful life, restriction
- It is said, acaryam mam vijaniyat (SB 11.17.27): an acarya who acts on behalf of the Supreme Personality of Godhead should be understood to be as good as the Supreme Lord Himself

- It is specifically stated (in SB 4.1.56), yo mayaya viracitam. This indicates that the varieties are a manifestation of the energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Because the energy is nondifferent from the Godhead, the varieties are also factual
- It is stated (SB 10.9.12) that Mother Yasoda bound the child Krsna with a rope, as if He were an ordinary son born of her body
- It is stated clearly here (in SB 3.29.22) that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, in His plenary expansion of Supersoul, is present in all living entities
- It is stated here (in SB 3.15.21) that in the Vaikuntha planets the houses are made of marble
- It is stated here (in SB 3.20.8) that the Lord assumed the form of a boar by His own potency. His form is not actually the form of a conditioned soul
- It is stated here (in SB 3.25.19), sivah panthah: this (the path of devotional service) is the only auspicious path for self-realization
- It is stated here (in SB 3.28.1) that by following the system of yoga one can become joyful
- It is stated here (in SB 4.4.32) that many thousands of demigods named Rbhus became manifested because of the oblations offered in the fire and the chanting of the hymns from the Yajur Veda

- It is stated here (SB 5.14.32) that the vanara (monkey) is very much attracted to sex. Each monkey keeps at least two dozen wives, and he jumps from one tree to another to capture the female monkeys. Thus he immediately engages in sexual intercourse
- It is stated herein (SB 2.7.38) that the governmental power of society in Kali-yuga will be passed over to the uncultured, godless laborer classes of men, and thus the nrdevas (government ministers) will be the vrsalas, or the uncultured lower-class men
- It is stated in another verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 10.35.11): O just see how the cranes and swans on the water are singing the glories of the Lord! Indeed, they are standing in the water meditating and worshiping Him

- It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam that in Kali-yuga the heads of government will be plunderers and thieves. These thieves and plunderers take the money and property of the public by force or connivance
- It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam that in this Kali-yuga government men (rajanyas) and those connected with the government, as well as exalted government ministers, secretaries and presidents, will all simply collect taxes for sense gratification
- It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam that Lord Krsna offered respect to Maha-Visnu; this means that Krsna offered obeisances unto none other than Himself, because Lord Maha-Visnu is nondifferent from Krsna Himself

- It is stated in the Tenth Canto, 33rd Chapter, 12th verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam: "Upon seeing that Krsna's arm was placed on her shoulder, one of the gopis engaged in the rasa dance became so ecstatically happy that she kissed Krsna on His cheek"
- It is stated in the Twelfth Canto of Bhagavatam that at the end of Kali-yuga people will be so polluted that there will no longer be any grains, wheat, sugarcane or milk

- Janmady asya is the beginning, yet the four verses in which it is said that the Lord is the root of everything that be, beginning from the creation up to the supreme abode of the Lord, naturally explain the ten characteristics
- Just utilize the opportunity to finish the business of Krishna Consciousness, without waiting for further incarnation. Srimad-Bhagavatam says that we should try for the highest achievement, and complete it before the next death comes

- Krsna did not come to reorganize the so-called dharmas: Hindu dharma, Muslim dharma, Christian dharma, Buddha's dharma. No. According to Srimad-Bhagavatam it is said, dharmah projjhita-kaitavo 'tra
- Krsna says that "If I do somebody special favor, then I make him poverty-stricken. I take away all his means of sense enjoyment." You see? That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Krsna says that this material world is simply miserable (duhkhalayam asasvatam (BG 8.15)). The Bhagavatam says, padam padam yad vipadam: (SB 10.14.58) at every step here there is danger
- Krsna simply wants to see that we are sincere. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that every particular person has his own duty in life, regardless of his position and regardless of his society

- Laksmi, the goddess of fortune, is the eternal consort of Lord Visnu. Here (in SB 4.1.4) it is stated that both the Lord and Laksmi, who are eternal consorts, appeared from Akuti simultaneously
- Lord Brahma inquired about the potency of the Supreme Lord, and the Personality of Godhead answered his inquiry in the following six consecutive statements (CC Adi 1.51-56) - from SB 2.9.31-36
- Lord Buddha is accepted as an incarnation of Krsna in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, but in the same Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that Lord Buddha appeared in order to bewilder the atheist class of men
- Lord Caitanya appreciated this statement (from SB 10.12.11) very much, yet He said, "You can go even further." Being so requested, Ramananda Raya then stated that the paternal relationship with Krsna is a still higher transcendental position
- Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu also confirms that Krsna is the Supreme Godhead, and the Srimad-Bhagavatam says, krsnas tu bhagavan svayam
- Lord Caitanya, five hundred years ago, He appeared in Bengal and He introduced this movement, sankirtana movement - not whimsically, but according to the tenets of Vedic literature, where it is stated that krte yad dhyayato visnum - SB 12.3.52
- Lord Krsna Himself says in the Eleventh Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.25.12),The material modes of goodness, passion and ignorance are connected with the conditioned souls, but never with Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead

- Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu specifically accepts Srimad-Bhagavatam as the spotless Vedic authority, and as such no sane man can ignore the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Lord Visnu is atmesvara, the Supersoul in everyone. Under His direction, everything is prompted from within. For example, in the beginning of the Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated, tene brahma hrda: He first educated Lord Brahma from within
- Love should be without any reason and without being stopped by any material cause. So how nicely it is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that sa vai pumsam paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhoksaje, that is the highest principle of religion

- Maharaja Yadu was different from his brothers. As stated in the next verse, turvasus coditah pitra druhyus canus ca bharata (SB 9.18.41). Maharaja Yadu's brothers refused to accept their father's proposal because they were not completely aware of dharma
- Maharaja Yadu's refusal was religious. As stated in the Tenth Canto, yados ca dharma-silaya: Maharaja Yadu was completely aware of the principles of religion
- Maharaja Yudhisthira knew the science of Krsna very well, for it is stated here that by continuous cultivation of this science, or by continuous devotional service to Lord Krsna, he acquired the qualification of administering the state
- Maharaurava, or hell, is described in Srimad-Bhagavatam as a place meant for persons who are engaged in killing animals, for it is stated there that butchers or animal eaters go to that hell
- Material profit, as it is stated here in the Srimad-Bhagavatam by Suta Gosvami, that to go to the church or to the temple or to become a religious person, does not mean that it is meant for improving your material condition
- Matsarata means envious. I am envious of you, you are envious of me. This is material life. Therefore in the Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that this Krsna consciousness is not for the people who are envious
- Modern heads of state are rogues & thieves who plunder the citizens instead of giving them protection. Rogues & thieves plunder without regard for law, but in this age of Kali, as stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam, the lawmakers themselves plunder the citizens
- Modern scientists and philosophers foolishly explain that there was no civilization prior to three thousand years ago, but the statement of this verse (SB 7.8.33) nullifies such whimsical judgments
- Moksa, or liberation, has to be taken very seriously, even at the sacrifice of the other three items. As advised by Suta Gosvami in the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam, religious principles are not based on success in economic development
- Mukti, or liberation, means becoming free from the results of fruitive activities. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 2.10.6): muktir hitvanyatha-rupam. Mukti means giving up all other activities and being situated in one's constitutional position

- No sane man can ignore the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam when it is spoken by the self-realized soul Srila Sukadeva Gosvami, who follows in the footsteps of his great father, Srila Vyasadeva, the compiler of all Vedic literatures
- Nobody is serious to understand what is God and how to love Him. Nobody is serious. Therefore in Bhagavatam, it is said, it is cheating religion
- Not only must a brahmana be well qualified according to the requirements stated in scriptures such as Srimad Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, but at the same time he must be a devotee of Lord Krsna
- Now, because you are on the field work, you have to meet so many opposite elements. And you have to satisfy them or fight with them with conclusive statements from Bhagavad-gita, and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Nowhere does Srimad-Bhagavatam say that the Bhagavatam should be heard for one week from professionals

- One important statement here (in SB 3.28.30) is dhyayen manomayam. Manomayam is not imagination. Impersonalists think that the yogi can imagine any form he likes
- One must understand the position of the Lord through the authorities, or mahajanas. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.3.28), ete camsa-kalah pumsah krsnas tu bhagavan svayam
- One should definitely try to understand that sense enjoyment is not the ultimate goal of human life. Herein (SB 1.16.9) it is said that during the daytime one works "for nothing" because the aim is nothing but sense enjoyment
- One should enter the renounced order with full knowledge (jnana-vairagya), for the perfection of life is possible for one who renounces this material world in that way. This elevated stage can be reached very easily, as supported by the statements of SB
- Ordinary dealings, there will be cheating. That is stated in the Bhagavata, mayaiva vyavahari. The sooner you get out of this scene is better. That is Krsna consciousness
- Our experimental knowledge can neither verify nor disprove the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam. We should simply hear these statements from the authorities. If we can appreciate the extensive energy of the Supreme Personality of God, that will benefit us
P
- Performing yajna involves worshiping the Supreme Lord. Here (in SB 9.11.1) the Supreme Lord (Ramacandra) worshiped the Supreme Lord. Therefore it is said, bhagavan atmanatmanam ije: the Lord worshiped Himself by Himself
- Personal superintendence of the illusory energy is confirmed in the Vedas (Kena Upanisad) in relation to the demigods' controlling power. Herein also it is clearly stated that the living entity is controlled by the external energy in a personal capacity
- Practically speaking, this process is not very easy in this age of Kali. In Srimad-Bhagavatam a description is given of the people of this age. Their duration of life is said to be very short
- Principles of religion are laid down in the Vedas, and any discrepancy in the matter of properly executing the rules of the Vedas makes one irreligious. In the Bhagavatam it is stated that such principles are the laws of the Lord. BG 1972 purports
- Pure devotees, who take transcendental pleasure in hearing and chanting the glories of God, do not care for any kind of liberation; even if they are offered the five liberations, they refuse to accept them, as stated in the Bhagavatam in the Third Canto

- Reception of the messages of Srimad-Bhagavatam from professional men, heard by a karma-kandiya audience, never acts miraculously as stated here - in SB 2.4.5
- Regarding Krsna's complete independence and lordship, Srimad-Bhagavatam says that although Kaliya was a great offender, Krsna still favored him by marking his head with His lotus feet
- Regarding persons attached to the impersonal Brahman, Srimad-Bhagavatam says, "My dear Lord, those who think of themselves as liberated by mental speculation are not yet purified of the contamination of material nature"
- Religion means to obey the laws of God. That is religion, not a sentimental system of religious system we manufacture. That kind of dharma won't help us. Therefore, in the SB, in the beginning it is said: Cheating type of religious system is kicked out

- Saunaka Muni states here (in SB 3.25.1) that Kapila, the incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, took birth, or appeared, simply to appreciate and disseminate transcendental knowledge
- SB 10.1.4 states: Who but the animal-killer or the killer of the soul will not care to hear glorification of the Supreme Personality of Godhead? Such glorification is enjoyed by persons liberated from the contamination of this material world
- SB 10.84.13 states: A human being who identifies his body made of three elements with his self, who considers the by-products of his body to be his kinsmen, who considers the land of his birth worshipable, is to be considered like an ass or a cow
- SB 12.3.52 says: "Whatever result one obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Visnu, in Treta-yuga by performing sacrifices and in Dvapara-yuga by serving His lotus feet one can also obtain in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra"
- Sense gratification is the general way for all sorts of fully occupied men. But in the statement of Suta Gosvami, as per the verdict of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, this is nullified by the present sloka
- She (the woman) was obviously without full knowledge of her surrounding men and women and the snake. As stated before, the snake is the vital force of the living being
- Simply a following of ritualistic ceremonies. That is not religion. That is superfluous. As stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam - 1.2.8
- Since fire is increased by the secretion of bile, the treatment is to increase bile secretion. The Ayur-vedic treatment thus corroborates the statements in Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Since the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the supreme consciousness, it is stated herein (SB 6.4.47) that samjnana-matram, the original consciousness, Krsna consciousness, was unmanifested before the creation
- Society is now in chaos, and there is neither peace nor prosperity. It is stated (in SB 3.21.55) that unless there is the vigilance of a strong king, impious, unqualified men will claim a certain status in society, and that will make social order perish
- Some people say that all this has come from nothing. What is this nonsense? Can such a creation come from nothing? Does this idea show very good reasoning? The Bhagavatam says no
- Sometimes after many, many years, a bad king would come. Throughout the history, at least in Srimad-Bhagavatam, we find this one king only, Vena, who declared the sacrifice, charity illegal
- Sometimes fruitive workers, dry philosophers, nondevotees, mystic yogis and persons attached to material opulence, women and money are considered mahajanas. But Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 6.3.25) gives a statement about such unauthorized mahajanas
- Spiritually uncultured people think the dog race is life. But actual life is spiritual progress. Therefore the SB (1.5.18) says, tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido
- Sri Advaita is the principal limb (anga) of Narayana. Srimad-Bhagavatam speaks of "limb" (anga) as "a plenary portion" (amsa) of the Lord
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu presented Himself as a grand fool, yet He maintained that all the words that He had heard from His spiritual master strictly followed the principles stated by Vyasadeva in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 1.7.6
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's secretary also advised that one learn the history of Srimad-Bhagavatam from a devotee. One should not hear the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam from professional reciters, or else they will not be effective
- Sri Sukadeva Gosvami said: In the Srimad-Bhagavatam there are ten divisions of statements regarding the following: the creation of the universe, subcreation, planetary systems, protection by the Lord, the creative impetus, the change of Manus
- Sri Sukadeva Gosvami said: In the Srimad-Bhagavatam there are ten divisions of statements regarding the following: the science of God, returning home, back to Godhead, liberation, and the summum bonum
- Srimad-Bhagavata says that the devotees, they can very easily uproot the causes of our material miserable condition of life
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.2.17) says, "By hearing of the activities of the Lord, the devotee draws the attention of the Lord. Thus the Lord, being situated in the heart of every living being, helps the devotee by giving him proper directions"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.14) states: Suta Gosvami replied to the sages headed by Saunaka - Everyone should very attentively listen to the pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One should glorify His activities and meditate upon Him regularly
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.17) says: One should regularly hear Srimad-Bhagavatam from a self-realized Vaisnava. By such hearing, one becomes pious. As one thus hears the Bhagavatam regularly & sincerely, his heart is purified of all material contamination
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.7) states: By rendering devotional service unto the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna, one immediately acquires causeless knowledge and detachment from the world
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.8) says: "Duties (dharma) executed by men, regardless of occupation, are only so much useless labor if they do not provoke attraction for the message of the Supreme Lord"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.2.8) says: One may be very expert in following the religious principles of his own sect, but if he has no tendency to love the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his observance of religious principles is simply a waste of time
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 10.84.13) states - A human being who goes to a place of pilgrimage simply to take a bath rather than to meet men of transcendental knowledge there is to be considered like an ass or a cow
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.2.36) states that one should submit everything - his fruitive activities, body, speech, mind, senses, intelligence, soul and modes of nature - to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Narayana
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.20.9) says that one should follow other paths to self-realization only as long as one is not convinced of the direct order of the Lord Sri Krsna
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 2.1.2) says: Those persons who are materially engrossed, being blind to the knowledge of ultimate truth, have many subject matters for hearing in human society, O Emperor
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 2.2.36) states: Sukadeva Gosvami concludes - The business of the living entity is to always remember the SP of Godhead in every circumstance. The Lord should be heard about, glorified and remembered by all human beings
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 6.3.20) states that there are twelve mahajanas: Brahma, Narada, Sambhu, the four Kumaras, Kapila, Manu, Prahlada, Janaka, Bhisma, Bali, Sukadeva and Yamaraja
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 7.5.31) says, na te viduh svartha-gatim hi visnum: generally people do not understand the ultimate goal of life
- Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.23.56 says: Although a person is apparently living, if he does not serve the lotus feet of great devotees he is to be considered a dead body
- Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Mahabharata are the two most important Vedic scriptures, but you have paid no attention to their statements
- Srimad-Bhagavatam clearly states that He (Krsna) left the battlefield in spite of having ample military strength. Even without His militia, He alone would have been sufficient to defeat the army of Jarasandha, as He had done seventeen times before
- Srimad-Bhagavatam comments on the aphorism janmady asya by saying abhijnah and svarat, i.e., the Supreme Brahman is not inert matter, but He is supreme consciousness and is independent
- Srimad-Bhagavatam indicates that everything is sheltered by Krsna directly and indirectly. Consequently perfect knowledge can be had only by an analytical study of Krsna, as confirmed by Bhagavad-gita
- Srimad-Bhagavatam is stated here as the essence of the Vedas. It is not an imaginary story as it is sometimes considered by unauthorized men. It is also called Suka-samhita, or the Vedic hymn spoken by Sri Sukadeva Gosvami, the great liberated sage
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says if there is a real presentation of spiritual understanding, then even if it is presented in broken language, it is accepted by high, saintly persons, because it glorifies the Supreme Person
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says that even after so much endeavor, if the impersonalist enters into the spiritual world and acquires an impersonal form, he returns again into the material world because of neglecting to serve the Supreme Lord in love and devotion
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says that Lord Buddha appeared for the purpose of bewildering the demons or atheists
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says that one should try to attain that which cannot be attained by traveling all over the universe. What is that? Kevalaya bhaktya - pure devotion
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says that the highest perfectional stage of everyone's talent is to satisfy the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, by his craftsmanship, scientific knowledge, philosophical research, or similar any other energy
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says that we should try for the highest achievement, and complete it before the next death comes
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says, "A pure devotee has no more doubts about the supremacy of the Personality of Godhead, and thus he engages himself in Krsna consciousness and devotional service"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says, "Although they (The impersonalists) rise to the transcendental situation of existence in impersonal Brahman, they certainly fall from that exalted position because they deride Your lotus feet"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says, "Generally, the conditioned soul is mad because he is always engaged in activities which are the causes of bondage and suffering"
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says, and we can actually see, that in Kali-yuga about eighty percent of the people are sinful. Illicit sex life, intoxication, meat-eating, and gambling are the four pillars of sinful life
- Srimad-Bhagavatam says, nigama-kalpa-taror galitam phalam: the Vedic instructions are like a tree, of which Srimad-Bhagavatam is the ripened fruit
- Srimad-Bhagavatam states that by performing devotional service a person who was born even in a family of dog-eaters may become eligible to take part in the performance of the ritualistic ceremonies recommended in the Vedas
- Srimad-Bhagavatam states that in the Age of Kali, thieves, rogues and fourth-class people who have neither education nor culture capture the seats of governments to exploit the citizens. This is a symptom of Kali-yuga that has already appeared
- Srimad-Bhagavatam states that the entire cosmic manifestation is but an expansion of the energy of the Supreme Lord. Realization of this is possible simply by chanting the holy name of the Lord, omkara
- Srimad-Bhagavatam states that the Sudarsana cakra penetrated the darkness just as an arrow released from the Sarnga bow of Lord Ramacandra penetrated the army of Ravana
- Srimad-Bhagavatam teaches us to offer obeisances to the mother along with the Father, the Supreme Lord, because it is the Father only who impregnates the mother with all energies for the sustenance and maintenance of all living beings
- Srimad-Bhagavatam trains the conditioned soul to this stage of perfection by submissive hearing from the pure devotee
- Srimad-Bhagavatam was spoken five thousand years ago, and the statements of this verse (SB 7.8.33) prove that the symptoms of a very advanced civilization then existed, even in the upper planetary systems, as well as in the lower planetary systems
- Srimad-Bhagavatam, however, does not agree with such impersonalists. It is clearly stated herein that the Supreme Lord rests in yoga-nidra, as previously discussed. And because He sleeps, naturally He must breathe
- Stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam: "When Lord Krsna, surrounded by groups of cowherd girls, began the festivities of the rasa dance, the Lord of all mystic powers placed Himself between each two girls"
- Stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam: "When the cowherd girls and Krsna thus joined together, each girl thought that Krsna was dearly embracing her alone"
- Statement in Srimad Bhagavatam: "How wonderful are the fortunate residents of Vrndavana, such as Nanda and the other cowherd men. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, the supreme Brahman, has actually become their intimate friend!"
- Strict practice of regulative devotional service is called vaidhi-bhakti. The prime principle of vaidhi-bhakti is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam SB 2.1.5: tasmad bharata sarvatma bhagavan isvaro harih, srotavyah kirtitavyas ca smartavyas cecchatabhayam
- Superficially they think, "We don't believe in God. We believe in Lord Buddha." And Lord Buddha is God. Therefore in the Bhagavata it is said that his business will be cheat the atheist class of men
- Svarupa means original constitutional position. That is called svarupa. And mukti means to be situated in that original condition. That is the statement in the Srimad-Bhagavatam

- Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah (SB 1.5.18). Srimad-Bhagavatam says that one should try to attain that which cannot be attained by traveling all over the universe
- Technology is meant for the sudras, whereas the Vedas are meant for the dvijas. Consequently this verse (SB 7.12.13-14) states, dvijo 'dhityavabudhya ca trayim sangopanisadam
- That is our concern: how the world is misdirected. That we are challenging, this Krsna consciousness. It is not that "East," "West," "you," "I." Everyone is a victim. Bhagavata says, prayena kalau asmin yuge janah: "In this age everyone is condemned"
- That is real mukti. And in Srimad-Bhagavatam, it is stated - mukti is defined - what is that? Muktir hitvanyatha rupam svarupena vyavasthitih (SB 2.10.6). Mukti means give up your false designation. That is mukti
- That statement of my Guru Maharaja, "the society of the cheaters and the cheated," is a fact everywhere. In a law court also, you bribe; you get justice. That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam: If you have got no money, then you cannot get justice
- The actual practice of yoga, however, is described here (in SB 8.3.27). As authoritatively stated in the SB (12.13.1), dhyanavasthita-tad-gatena manasa pasyanti yam yoginah: a yogi is one who always meditates on the lotus feet of the SP of Godhead
- The Bhagavat also says that no one should become the parent unless he can deliver the child from the clutches of death. So it is your duty to make this baby KC so that he may not have to take birth again
- The Bhagavata says that "Either you enquire..." You go to astrologer, "What is in my fate? Whether I am getting such and such things or not?" You enquire or not enquire, if you are destined to achieve that thing, it will come automatically
- The Bhagavata says that although in the Buddha religion there is no, I mean to say, mention of worshiping God, but Lord Buddha is himself incarnation of God, and he induced his followers to worship him
- The Bhagavata says that atyantika-duhkha-nivrtti, means ultimate solution of miserable condition, is in the fact that we realize God and we go back to home, back to Godhead. This is our philosophy
- The Bhagavata says that system of religion is the first class wherein love of Godhead is aroused spontaneously without any material impediment. So our movement gives practical proof that there is no impediment of body or mind
- The Bhagavata says that the best kind of plan or best kind of occupational duties is that which leads one to the devotional service of the Supreme Lord
- The Bhagavata says the Purana is part of the Vedas. As Upanisad is part of Vedas... It is written in simplified language so that those who are less educated, less having brain substance
- The Bhagavata says, so long you do not come to the platform of understanding yourself, whatever you are doing, it is simply defeat. Zero. Zero has no value
- The Bhagavata says: "One should not become a father, one should not become a mother, unless they are able to protect the children from the imminent danger of death." What is that? The cycle of birth and death
- The Bhagavata says: "Whether he has given any aural reception about Krsna, that is the test." No. He has no knowledge about Krsna. Then he must be praised by persons who are like camel, asses, dogs, hogs
- The Bhagavatam (1.1.1) also states, tene brahma hrda ya adi-kavaye: Krsna instructed Lord Brahma in Vedic knowledge. Unless the ultimate source is a living entity, how can He impart knowledge
- The Bhagavatam (1.1.1) says, janmady asya yato 'nvayad itaratas carthesv abhijnah. The word abhijnah indicates that the source of everything is completely conscious
- The Bhagavatam also says that the statements in the Maha-Purana (Srimad-Bhagavatam) constitute the essence (rasa) of all Vedic literature
- The Bhagavatam further states: Due to their spontaneous attachment for the Lord, when they (devotees) chant His holy names they sometimes cry, sometimes laugh, dance, sing and so on, not caring for any social convention - SB 11.2.40
- The Bhagavatam says (SB 10.2.32), because they (mayavadi philosophers) do not see the lotus feet of Krsna, they have to return to this material world, despite all their serious penances and austerities. Thus renunciation in itself will not help us
- The Bhagavatam says that it is the duty of an advanced human being to act in such a way as to facilitate human society’s attainment of the ultimate goal of life
- The Bhagavatam says that the bellows of the blacksmith breathes very soundly, but that does not mean that the bellows has life
- The Bhagavatam says to one who is intelligent (kovida), - Your life should be engaged for this purpose - for understanding the Absolute Truth
- The Bhagavatam says, bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syad isad apetasya viparyayo 'smrtih: Krsna consciousness is the only basis for fearlessness. Therefore, perfect practice is possible for a person who is Krsna conscious. BG 1972 purports
- The Bhagavatam says, that the prime duty of the human being is to satisfy the Supreme Lord by the performance of one's occupational duty (SB 1.2.13)
- The Bhagavatam says: dharmam hi saksad-bhagavat-pranitam - the path of religion is directly enunciated by the Lord. Therefore, mental speculation or dry arguments cannot help one progress in spiritual life. BG 1972 purports
- The Bhagavatam tells us that everything comes from the person who is abhijna, very intelligent and experienced, and that original intelligent person transmitted knowledge to adi-kavi, the original created being, Lord Brahma
- The brahminical symptoms are explained in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 7.11.35), wherein it is stated: yasya yal-laksanam proktam pumso varnabhivyanjakam, yad anyatrapi drsyeta tat tenaiva vinirdiset
- The city of Hastinapura stands today on the bank of the Yamuna, & the statement of Srimad-Bhagavatam that Yudhisthira went to bathe in the Ganges indicates, therefore, that during the time of the Pandavas the river Yamuna was also known as the Ganges
- The country where Prthu Maharaja resided must have been India because it is stated in the eleventh verse of this chapter (SB 4.21) that he lived in the tract of land between the rivers Ganges and Yamuna
- The devas are celebrated for fighting with the asuras perpetually. In such fights the asuras were always defeated, but this time the demigods were defeated. Why? The reason, as stated here (SB 6.7.22), was that they had offended their spiritual master
- The difference is always there between God & the part-&-parcel living entities, but by the influence of God's internal potency, the understanding is covered. We can attain that position after many, many lives of pious activities. That is stated in the SB
- The Eleventh Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam describes the incarnations for each yuga in chronological order. The Bhagavatam says, krte suklas catur-bahuh, tretayam rakta-varno'sau, dvapare bhagavan syamah and krsna-varnam tvisakrsnam - SB 11.5.32
- The etymological meaning of sankhya is "that which explains very lucidly by analysis of the material elements." This was done for the first time by Lord Kapila, who is said herein (SB 1.3.10) to be the fifth in the line of incarnations
- The example set herein is exactly suitable. It is said that one who is hungry is never satisfied by anything other than food
- The fact is that unless Krsna gives one protection one cannot be protected. This is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam (7.9.19): balasya neha saranam pitarau nrsimha
- The fifty-fifth verse (of SB, 9th Canto) says, svayam eva harih kila, indicating that Krsna, the eighth son of Devaki, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Krsna is not an incarnation
- The full-moon night of Asvina is called sarat-purnima. It appears from the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam that Krsna had to wait another year for such a moon before enjoying the rasa dance with the gopis
- The general mass of people, although sudras and less, can be purified by chanting this Hare Krsna mantra. Then they can understand the exalted philosophical statements of Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam
- The history of the creation of the population of the universe is given herewith (SB 3.12.57). Brahma is the original living creature in the universe, from whom were generated the Manu Svayambhuva and his wife Satarupa
- The impersonal interpretation of the mundane wranglers is completely refuted in this verse because it is clearly stated here that the Supreme Lord has His qualities, form, pastimes and everything that a person has
- The impersonalists misunderstand the statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam to mean that the Lord entered His own effulgence and therefore become impersonal. But the Lord is a person, and His devotees are persons
- The knowledge of the minute conditioned souls is covered, they are exhibited in so many species of life. It is said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Seventh Chapter, First Canto, "The living entities are illusioned by the material energy
- The life is very valuable. Don't think that "Because we have got human form of life, we shall live for one hundred years or sixty or seventy years, so let us enjoy." Bhagavata says this kind of enjoyment is there everywhere - in animal life, in plant life
- The Lord always gives instructions to such exalted devotees to inform them how they can remain fixed in devotional service. Similarly, it is stated in the atmarama verse - SB 1.7.10
- The Lord has form, otherwise how can it be stated here (in SB 3.24.31) , tany eva te 'bhirupani rupani bhagavams tava: "You have Your forms, but they are not material. Materially You have no form, but spiritually, transcendentally, You have multiforms"?
- The Lord is not impersonal in His abode, which is always nirasta-kuhakam, as stated in the very beginning of the Bhagavatam. Therefore both the impersonal and personal features of the Lord are acceptable, as mentioned in the revealed scriptures
- The material creation is effected by the interaction of the three modes of material nature set in action by the Lord, and therefore it is said here that the Lord existed before the modes of material nature were set in motion
- The material world consists of three modes - goodness, passion and ignorance - but the spiritual world is pure goodness. It is said here (SB 3.19.30) that the form of the Lord is pure goodness, which means that it is not material
- The miscreants, as stated in the Seventh Chapter (of Bhagavad-gita), who never come to the devotional service of the Lord, have no good qualifications, as is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. BG 1972 purports
- The modern scientists, who have only limited experience, cannot defy these statements (of Srimad-Bhagavatam); they cannot give us full information about any planet, even the planet on which we live
- The more we hear about the transcendental activities of the Lord, as they are stated in the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, the more we can know about His transcendental nature and thus make definite progress on the path back to Godhead
- The neophyte and intermediate devotees can gradually rise to the platform of uttama-adhikari and become first-class devotees. Symptoms of a first-class devotee are given in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 11.2.45
- The only benefit we can render to suffering beings is to try to raise them to spiritual consciousness. Material comforts cannot be increased or decreased. It is therefore said in Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.5.18), tal labhyate duhkhavad anyatah sukham
- The opulences of the universal form of the Lord are described herein (SB 2.6.1). It is said that His mouth is the generating center of all kinds of voices, and its controlling deity is the fire demigod
- The original guru is Krsna. As Krsna taught Arjuna, He also taught Brahma, as stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam - tene brahma hrda ya adi-kavaye
- The paramahamsa-asrama is the asrama of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, under whom the spiritual master has taken shelter. The symptoms of the bona fide spiritual master are stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 11.3.21
- The paramahamsas are generally found among both the impersonalists and the devotees, but according to Srimad-Bhagavatam (as clearly stated by Kuntidevi), pure bhakti-yoga is understood by the paramahamsas
- The perfect brahminical qualification is stated herein (SB 5.5.25): akincananam mayi bhakti-bhajam
- The problems will be more intricate day by day, and it is stated in the Bhagavata that some day will come when there will be no food grains, no sugar, no milk and no fruits, that these things will not be available
- The process of yoga is very clearly described in this verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 3.19.28). It is said here that the ultimate end of the yogis and mystics who perform meditation is to get rid of this material body
- The purpose of Sankhya philosophy is stated herein (SB 3.24.38). If anyone wants real, eternal life, he has to engage himself in devotional service, or Krsna consciousness
- The purpose of yogic performances is explained here (SB 3.15.7). It is said that an experienced mystic attains full control of the mind and senses by controlling the breathing process. Therefore, controlling the breathing is not the ultimate aim of yoga
- The question of creation is also one of such inquiries to be made to the right person. The spiritual master, therefore, must be one who is sama jna, as stated hereinbefore in connection with Sukadeva Gosvami
- The real elevation of human life rests on knowledge and renunciation. As stated in the First Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, devotional service rendered to Krsna automatically produces perfect knowledge and renunciation
- The real tattva, or truth, consists of Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.2.11): "Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramatma or Bhagavan"
- The root cause (of divorce) is that "As soon as I don't find satisfaction, then I don't want." That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam: dam-patyam ratim eva hi
- The Sanskrit statements of SB are all transcendental sounds. Srila Vyasadeva revealed these statements after perfect realization, and therefore they are perfect, for liberated sages like Vyasadeva never commit errors in their rhetorical arrangements
- The SB (1.7.10) states, Although those who are atmarama, self-satisfied, are liberated from all material contamination, they are still attracted by the pastimes of the Supreme Lord, and thus they engage themselves in His transcendental service
- The SB assures the unsuccessful transcendentalist that there need be no worries. Even though he may be subjected to the reaction of not perfectly executing prescribed duties, he is still not a loser, because auspicious KC is never forgotten. BG 1972 pur
- The science of God is for persons who are not envious. That is religion. In the Bhagavata you will find in the beginning it is said, Here the religion of Bhagavata is not a cheating religion
- The spiritual master also offers respect to the Supersoul situated in the body of the disciple. The Lord says in Srimad-Bhagavatam that offering respect to His devotee is more valuable than offering respect to Him
- The Srimad-Bhagavata says that if you want to be free . . . free means just like you are trying to go to the moon planet by so many mechanical arrangements, but if you are free spiritually, then you can go any planet you like, immediately
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.2.32) states, Persons who are falsely puffed up, thinking they have become liberated simply by understanding their constitutional position as Brahman, or spirit soul, are factually still contaminated
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.5.2) states, mukha-bahuru-padebhyah purusasyasramaih saha, catvaro jajnire varna gunair vipradayah prthak
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam affirms that life is not meant for so-called economic development or advancement of materialistic science for the hedonistic philosophy of eating, mating, drinking and merrymaking
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam begins by stating that all kinds of pretentious religiosity is completely eradicated from the Bhagavatam
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam says again and again that without attainment of the status of bhakti-yoga, all the activities of human society are to be considered absolute failures only
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam says that after many, many births we have attained the human form of body. Now we should not misuse it. Please utilize this human life to develop Krsna consciousness and be happy
- The Srimad-Bhagavatam says, "Our duration of life is being diminished by the sun, beginning from its rising until the time it sets." Daily we are losing the duration of our lives
- The statement in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, they are meant for highly developed conscious person. They are not for ordinary person
- The statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam and other Vedic literatures prove definitely that on each and every planet there are living entities of different varieties. Therefore, it is foolish to assert that there are no living entities but those on this earth
- The statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam are accepted by great acaryas like Sridhara Svami, Ramanujacarya and Vallabhacarya. Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu specifically accepts Srimad-Bhagavatam as the spotless Vedic authority
- The Supreme Lord does not put His semen into that which is not spiritual, but it is stated here (in SB 3.26.19) that the Supreme Person puts His semen into material nature. This means that the living entities are spiritual by nature
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead was playing as a liar and accusing all the other devotees of being liars. As stated in (SB 10.12.11), krta-punya-punjah: a devotee may attain such an ecstatic position after many, many births of devotional service
- The symptoms of the worst conditions of the material world, at the last stage of this age, called Kali-yuga, are stated herein (SB 2.7.38). The sum and substance of such conditions is godlessness
- The test is that whether he has developed love of God. Then he is religious. Just see how nice definition. Is there any nicer definition of religion than it is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam?
- The theory of soil experts that the desert developed in recent years is not supported by the statements of Bhagavatam
- The time factor cannot touch the lifespan of the devotees. In another verse it is stated that when the sun rises and sets it takes away the life of all living entities, but it cannot take away the life of those who are engaged in devotional service
- The Vedanta philosophy mentions that Brahman is the fountainhead of all creation, maintenance and destruction, and Srimad-Bhagavatam, the natural commentation on the Vedanta philosophy, says, janmady asya yato 'nvayad itaratas carthesv abhijnah svarat
- The word dhama is significant. Dhama refers to the place where the Supreme Personality of Godhead resides. In the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 1.1.1) it is said, dhamna svena sada nirasta-kuhakam satyam param dhimahi
- The word dharma here (in SB 7.5.51) does not refer to some religious faith. As clearly stated, dharmo hy asyopadestavyo rajnam yo grha-medhinam
- The word dhvasta-tamasah is very important, for without being free of ignorance one cannot control the creation of different types of living entities. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam - bodies are awarded under the supervision of superior powers
- The word niyatena is very significant in this connection, for it indicates that one should execute the meditation practice as stated above - in SB 4.8.51
- The word susamahitah means "very attentive" or "fully fixed." The ability to fix the mind in this way is a result of yoga-siddhi, mystic perfection. As it is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 12.13.1), dhyanavasthita-tad-gatena manasa pasyanti yam yoginah
- The yoga system, as here (in SB 3.25.13) stated by the Lord, is meant to end all material happiness and material distress
- The yogi must contemplate the different parts of the transcendental body of the Lord. Here (in SB 3.28.28) it is stated that the constitutional position of the living entities should be understood
- There are different attachments for material enjoyment, of which sex life is the topmost enjoyment. The Bhagavatam (5.5.8) says that this material world... pumsah striya mithuni-bhavam etam
- There are many foolish propagandists who say that worship of the demigods is also a way to reach the supreme goal, but in the authorized statements of Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita this is not accepted
- There are many similar names on the surface of the earth (as in higher planetary systems), and it may be that in the Boar age Svayambhuva Manu ruled this planet, as stated here in SB 3.21.25
- There are many such statements in the Srimad-Bhagavatam from which we can understand that there were facilities to travel from one planet to another, especially in the higher planetary system, and who can say that they are not still traveling
