- Can you answer why the rainy season is there? Why it is raining? These are periodical changes. Just like there is summer season, winter season, rainy season. Similarly, this material world is subjected to the seasons, or changes. It is called jagat

- Everything is good. But still, people do not surrender. Why? These are the qualifications. What are the qualifications? He is impious, he is fool number one, he is lowest of the mankind, his knowledge has been plundered by illusion, and he is atheistic
- Everything we are giving distinctly. Not blindly, but there is philosophy, there is reason, there is logic, and these are all stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, sixty volumes
- Examples of devotees in the second stage, servitorship, are Raktaka, Citraka and Patraka. These are all servants of Krsna in Gokula. In Dvaraka there is Daruka, and in the Vaikuntha planets there are Hanuman and others

- If you have got the sense of prasada, then there should be no distinction. "I am taking prasadam, which is nirguna." So these are the conclusions. So unless we come to the conclusion of Vaisnava cult, it is very difficult

- In India, a brahmin is addressed as pandita, however rascal he may be. Because it is expected, when one is born in the brahmin family, he must be well-learned. These are the 6 occupational duties of brahmin: pathana-pathana yajana-yajana dana-pratigraha
- In material existence, four things are very valuable: to be born in a decent family, to be very rich, to be very learned and to be very beautiful. These are considered to be material assets
- In other places (books) the same order is there, that one give up all other engagements & fully surrender unto the Lord without hesitation. The Lord will give such a devotee all protection. These are the secrets of attaining the highest perfectional stage
- In other words, these are all potencies of God - internal, external and marginal. But the internal potency is the Lord's personal energy and stands over the other two

- In this way we are able to see golden mountains, or stars during the day. The conclusion is that these are all mental concoctions, although they have actually been experienced in different circumstances. They have simply combined together in a dream
- In this world someone may become very highly elevated by taking birth in an aristocratic family, by being well educated, beautiful or very rich. These are the gifts for pious activities enacted in the past life

- Maharaja Pariksit, after having selected Krpacarya for guidance as his spiritual master, performed three horse sacrifices on the banks of the Ganges. These were executed with sufficient rewards for the attendants

- Man is known by his company. - Your constant company is dog, so what you are? These are the way. Why they do not allow Europeans in the Jagannatha temple? Because they are untouchable
- Many other symptoms (except joy, fear, astonishment, moroseness and anger) are visible on the entire body in the beginning (in the state of stambha). These are very subtle, but gradually they become very apparent
- Manye dhanajana, these are material acquisition: wealth, manpower; manye dhanabhijana-rupa, beauty; tapah . . . these are third-class acquisition - dhana, jana, tapa, er, rupa, means wealth, manpower & beauty. But first-class acquisition is tapa, tapasya
- Material achievement, that is due... Because it is pertaining to this body, this designation, therefore it finishes with the finish of this designation. These are our all designations
- Material life means defying the laws of God, denying the existence of God. And one wants to become himself God. These are the material activities. So we may do so, may defy, but the laws will act
- Material world means these five elements, gross and subtle. Earth, water, air, fire, sky, these are gross. And mind, intelligence, and ego, these are subtle
- Mayavadi philosophers wrongly think that because the Supreme Person has entered the body of a poor man, the Supreme Lord has become daridra-narayana, or poor Narayana. These are all blasphemous statements of atheists and nondevotees
- Meat-eating, or intoxication, drinking, gambling, and illicit sex. These are the four pillars of sinful life. So unless you stop, you break these four pillars, how you can think of God? God is not so cheap
- Milk is one of the important nourishment foods. And there is no milk. So gradually there'll be no milk, no rice, no wheat, no sugar. These are stated. Where you'll get nourishment

- O best of learned persons, do not fear! I wish all good fortune to you. Become My devotees by hearing and chanting about Me and offering Me prayers, for these are certainly meant to award benedictions to all living entities
- O My mother, O virtuous lady, these are the qualities of great devotees who are free from all attachment. You must seek attachment to such holy men, for this counteracts the pernicious effects of material attachment
- Of course second initiation does not depend upon passing an examination. How one has moulded his life--chanting, attending arati, etc--these are essential. Still, brahmana means pandita. Therefore I am suggesting examinations

- People are thinking, "I belong to this family, this nation, this community. I have this duty or that duty," and so on. People do not know that these are all false designations
- People are trying to understand the Absolute Truth by speculation, according to one's knowledge. The so-called philosopher, theosophists, theologists, these are useless. You cannot speculate to understand the Absolute Truth. That is not possible
- People who are accustomed to bad habits, it is very difficult to overcome them. But those who are in Krsna consciousness, they are actually overcoming the stringent laws of nature. These are practical
- Performing such sacrifices, worshiping Vaisvadeva, and performing the ceremony of Baliharana, which all supposedly constitute the goal of life, as well as constructing temples for demigods - these are all symptomized by attachment to material desires
- Persons who are desiring to become great souls cannot be without any of the above qualities, so we can know for certain that these qualities are found in Lord Krsna, the supreme soul
- Perspiration, trembling, standing on end of one's bodily hairs, tears, faltering voice, fading complexion, madness, melancholy, patience, pride, joy & humility - these are various natural symptoms of ecstatic love of Godhead
- Prabhu means "the Lord" and pada means "the position." "One who has taken the position of the Lord." The same thing: saksad-dharitvena, prabhupada. These are the terms. One who is serious to study this science of God, they'll learn all these things

- Religion, economic development and sense gratification - these are described in the Vedas as tri-varga, or three ways to salvation

- Sadhu means saintly person. Titiksavah karunikah suhrdah sarva-dehinam. He's tolerant, he's very kind to everyone, and he's friend to all living entities. He has no enemy, or he is nobody's enemy. And he's peaceful. These are some of the qualification
- Sadhu, from his side, he has no enemy. He is friend of everyone. Titiksavah karunikah suhrdah sarva-bhutanam (SB 3.25.21). And ajata-satravah santah, always peaceful. These are the qualities of sadhu, saintly persons
- Sakara Mallika was the name of Sanatana Gosvami, and Dabira Khasa was the name of Rupa Gosvami. They were recognized by these names in the service of the Muslim King; therefore these are Muslim names
- Salagrama-sila refers to pebbles that appear like stones with circle; marked up and down. These are available in the river known as Gandaki-nadi. Wherever the waters of this river flow, the place becomes immediately sanctified
- Samah means controlling the mind - mind is always peaceful. You can train. Then controlling the senses. Then truthful. Then full of knowledge, practical application of knowledge in life. These are the qualification of first-class men
- Samskarad, by purificatory process. We are pointing out, "Don't do this, do this," "Don't do this, do this." These are all purificatory processes. Without being pure, you cannot approach the supreme pure. Krsna is supreme pure
- Sankaracarya introduced names for his sannyasa disciples, and these are ten in number. Out of these, the surnames Tirtha, Asrama and Sarasvati are considered topmost

- Simply by associating with them & accepting the remnants of foodstuff left by the sages, the son of the maidservant got the chance to become the great devotee & personality Naradadeva. These are the miraculous effects of the association of Bhagavatas
- Simply by theoretical knowledge you cannot make any improvement. These are practical example. Because there is no love for God at the present moment, all this nonsense universal love, fraternity, are going to hell

- The karmis view the formalities as a means of advancing in religion, economic development, sensual satisfaction and liberation. Although these are only material results of following religious principles, the karmis consider them everything
- The Krsna consciousness movement is not very popular with the karmis because this movement recommends that one refrain from illicit sex, meat-eating, gambling and intoxication. These are restrictions that karmis very much dislike
- The living entity has nothing to do with bodily pains and pleasures. These are simply mental concoctions
- The living entity is covered by three subtle material elements and five gross material elements. These are actually obstacles placed before the living entity on the path of liberation from material bondage
- The living entity is superior because it is controlling the inferior energy, matter. These are very scientific. It is not sentiment
- The living entity labors under the bodily conception of "I am this, I am that. My duty is this, and therefore I shall do it." These are all mental impressions, and all these activities are temporary
- The living entity may not believe in the existence of God, or he may think that he has no relationship with God, but these are all "illusions," or maya. Due to absorption in this false conception of life, man is always fearful and full of anxieties
- The Lord (Krsna) makes all the laws and orders, and these laws and orders are generally called dharma or religion. No one can create any religious formula. Bona fide religion is to abide by the orders of the Lord
- The Lord has described in summary the body, knowledge and the knowable. This knowledge is of three things: the knower, the knowable and the process of knowing. Combined, these are called vijnanam, or the science of knowledge. BG 1972 purports
- The Lord has unlimited forms and bodily features (advaitam acyutam anadim ananta-rupam (BS 5.33)). These are all situated in Vaikuntha
- The Lord says, “Only I existed before the creation.” From this statement, four slokas have been composed, and these are known as the catuh-sloki (SB 2.9.33/34/35/36). In this way the Supreme PG informed Lord Brahma about the purport of the catuh-sloki
- The Lord's pastimes with the gopis are all displays of transcendental existence, bliss and knowledge, although these are manifested apparently as sex love. The specific attraction of His pastimes with the gopis should never be misunderstood
- The love is already there. It has to awakened by a certain process. Dadati pratigrhnati bhunkte bhojayate guhyam akhyati prcchati ca sad-vidham priti-laksanam (Upadesamrta 4). These are six types of loving principles

- The Mayavadi means that Krsna, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead, His name, His fame, His quality, His entourage - everything belonging to Krsna - these philosophers, followers of Sankaracarya, they believe they are maya. Maya means this material
- The most pious activity is to be engaged in Krsna consciousness movement. Pure. Then these are the different stages. Adau sraddha tato sadhu-sango tato bhajana-kriya atha anartha-nivrttih syat

- The sinful list we have given, the four principles, illicit sex life, intoxication, meat-eating & gambling. These are the four pillars of sinful life. We request our students first of all break these four pillars. So the roof of sinful life will collapse
- The so-called freedom . . . we declare that "I belong to the free nation. I am free." These are all simply mental speculation. There is no freedom. So long I am bound up by the conditions of nature, there is no freedom

- The Srimad-Bhagavatam has used the suitable word, dharma projhita. That means to kick out the so-called religious principles, economic development, sense gratification, and liberation. According to Bhagavata, these are all cheating processes
- The Supreme Lord is full of inconceivable potencies, which are related to His person, His energies and His transcendental qualities. All of these are very attractive to the serious student. Consequently the Lord is known as Krsna, the all-attractive one

- These are some of the finer points of etiquette in devotional service. Only one who has received the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu can understand these principles

- These are the human assets - qualities which make a human being distinct from the animals.These things will decline (in Kali-yuga). There will be almost no mercy, there will be almost no truthfulness, memory will be shortened, duration of life shortened

- These are: (1) Krsna is like an ocean filled with waves of pastimes that evoke wonder within everyone in the three worlds. (2) In His activities of conjugal love, He is always surrounded by His dear devotees who possess unequaled love for Him
- These desires (for eternal existence) are evident in human society, & in the upper planetary systems (Svargaloka, Janaloka, etc.) the living entities enjoy a longer duration of life, an increased amount of knowledge, & a generally more blissful existence
- These fools (who make elaborate political, social and cultural plans) are trying to turn the material world into sukhalayam, a place of happiness, not knowing how everything acts by the arrangement of material nature, which works in her own way
- These literatures (such as Vedas, Upanisads, Purananas) are not meant for any particular class of men but for the totality of human society. All societies can take advantage of Vedic knowledge to perfect human life
- These machines (bodies) are manufactured by the material ingredients of the external energy, and thus the living entity enjoys or suffers according to his desires. This opportunity is given by the Supersoul
- These methods (mauna (silence), vrata (vows)) are not so powerful. If one takes to devotional service, all of them are very easily performed
- These offenses (while chanting the holy name) are: (4) minimizing the authority of the scriptures, (5) interpreting the holy names of God, (6) committing sins on the strength of chanting, (7) instructing the glories of the Lord's names to the unfaithful
- These offenses (while chanting the holy name) are: (8) comparing the holy name with material piety, (9) being inattentive while chanting the holy name, (10) remaining attached to material things in spite of chanting the holy names
- These persons (envious demons) are condemned by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as indicated by the words tava kopah
- These things you will find in animal's body also - blood, muscles, flesh, bones, stool, urine, nails, hair, like that. So these are the ingredients of the material body
- They (inhabitants of Dvaraka) were still more aspirant to see the Lord amongst themselves, and all of them became alert to receive Him in the befitting manner. These are the signs of spontaneous love of Godhead
- They (scientists, philosophers, economists and mathematicians) waste time and energy in the search for so-called happiness. These are the qualifications of the demons. In BG 9.11 it says that when one has all these demonic qualities, he becomes a mudha
- They (the Mayavadis) do not recognize the existence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or they claim that His existence is a product of the material conception (maya). These are characteristics of asuras, or demons
- They can manufacture nice medicine to counteract disease, but they cannot manufacture anything which will stop disease. You can fight against death very nicely, but you cannot stop death. These are the problems
- They do not know that they are spoiling their life. They are thinking that, "I've got very nice apartment, very nice car, very nice wife, very nice income, very nice social position." So many things. These are the material attraction
- They know that these (so-called happiness and distress) are like changing seasons, which are perceivable by contact with the material body
- This body is Krsna's. What is this body? Bhumir apo analo vayuh kham mano buddhir (BG 7.4). It is constituted of these things: earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence, ego. And Krsna says, bhinna me prakrti astadha: These are Mine, My things
- This is called Bhurloka, then Bhuvarloka, Svargaloka, Janaloka, Maharloka, Tapoloka, Satyaloka, Brahmaloka - these are different higher planetary system - & each loka, the standard of happiness is thousand times better than the earth. This is the position
- This is the argument. You are so rascal that you cannot admit your rascaldom. Just like this moon planet expedition. But I, sixteen years before, I told that these are rascals. Therefore I am right
- This is the highest stage of ecstasy for Krsna consciousness, always chanting Krsna's name, dancing in ecstasy, and to be merged in the ocean of love for Krsna. These are the perfection

- This movement recommends that one refrain from illicit sex, meat-eating, gambling and intoxication. These are restrictions that karmis very much dislike
- "This part is mine, and that part is yours," they say. "This part I can give in charity, and this part I can keep for my enjoyment." These are all demoniac conceptions. This is described in BG 16.13: idam adya maya labdham imam prapsye manoratham
- This question of Devahuti's is for such a person who falsely claims that he is everything, that ultimately everything is void, and that there are no sinful or pious activities. These are all atheistic inventions
- This should be presented very scientifically, one who knows perfectly well about this Bhagavad-gita. These are the crucial point, that one . . . Krsna says, imam vivasvate yogam proktavan aham avyayam (BG 4.1). There's so many very touch point
- This word "sincere," there is no meaning unless he is a devotee. Ei bala ei manda sab mano-dharma: "These are all mental concoction." There is no meaning. "This man is good," "This man is sincere," "This man is bad" they are all mental concoction
- Those who are associating with tamo-guna - drinking, flesh-eating, smoking, illicit sex, gambling . . . these are the association of tamo-guna. Yatra papas catur-vidha (SB 1.17.38), where there are four kinds of sinful activities
- Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods, whereas the worshipers of Lord Krsna and Lord Visnu go to the planets in Vaikuntha. These are the statements of the smrti
- Three times again, nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha: "There is no other process." So these are stressed by the Vedic literature
- "Thus far I have acquired so much money and land. Now I have to add more and more. In this way I shall be the greatest proprietor of everything. Who can compete with me?" These are all demoniac conceptions
- Tiger can kill many animals. Does it mean it is very important animal? No. It has no use in the society. Undoubtedly, it is very powerful. It has got the good weapons to fight and it can kill many. These are not qualifications for good men or good society
- Time factor is another manifestation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The beginning of creation, that is the beginning of kala. So that beginning is started by the Supreme Personality of Godhead: sa aiksata. These are the Vedic information
- To be influential in battle, unconquerable, patient, challenging and charitable, to control the bodily necessities, to be forgiving, to be attached to the brahminical nature and to be always jolly and truthful - these are the symptoms of the ksatriya
- To become Krsna conscious means to jump over to the spiritual platform immediately. And this varnasrama-dharma, sannyasa, varna-tyaga, karma-tyaga, these are different steps only
- To curtail the activities of the demons and to give protection to the saintly person, I descend. Dharma-samstha . . . "And to establish dharma, the principles of religion." These are the three business for which Krsna comes
- To expand the cats' and dog civilization to compete with another dog is the same story, Aesop's Fable story, to capture the other dog and take his foodstuff, and then lose everything. These are very instructive
- To have a very beautiful, obedient wife. These (good family, high aristocratic family, or good follower, leader, minister) are the aspirations of material life. But Caitanya Mahaprabhu said: "I do not want all these things." This is bhakti life
- To live in the forest is in the mode of goodness, and to live in the city, or town, is in the mode of passion, and to live in slaughterhouse and brothel and drunkards, these are the residential quarter in ignorance
- To live in Vrndavana means to know Krsna - how He appeared there, how He played here, how He executed His pastimes here. Janma karma divyam. These are all celestial, all transcendental
- To render service to the husband, to be always favorably disposed toward the husband, to be equally well disposed toward the husband's relatives & friends, & to follow the vows of the husband - these are the four principles to be followed by chaste women
- To talk with a person is not mixing. You see? Mixing means, intimate mixing, there are six symptoms. When you eat, when you call him to eat, when you give, when you take, when you talk your heart, when you hear his heart. These are called intimate mixing
- To understand, you have to take the training, spiritual training. You have to understand the words which God wants to let you know about Him. These are spiritual training
- Today you are a king and I am your servant, but tomorrow the position may be changed, and you may be my servant and I your master. These are temporary circumstances created by providence
- Together these are called the cit potency, and they are present in full in the Supreme Lord. For the living entities, who are part and parcel of the Lord, the pleasure potency in the material world is sometimes displeasing and sometimes mixed
- Turmeric mixed with oil and vermilion makes an auspicious ointment that is smeared over the body of a newborn baby or a person who is going to marry. These are all auspicious activities in family affairs
- Two of the rivers - the Brahmaputra and the Sona - are called nadas, or main rivers. These are other great rivers that are very prominent: Candravasa, Tamraparni, Avatoda, Krtamala, Vaihayasi, Kaveri, Veni, Payasvini, Sarkaravarta, Tungabhadra

- Uddhava continued, "These are the words of the Personality of Godhead, 'My dear gopis, My dear friends, please know that separation between ourselves is impossible at any time, at any place or under any circumstances, because I am all-pervading'"
- Uddhava said, "He is the purpose behind chanting different mantras, reading the Vedas, controlling the senses, concentrating the mind in meditation. These are some of the many different processes for self-realization and attainment of perfection of life"
- Unless one becomes nonenvious, mahatma, there is no question of so-called unity or fraternity. These are all false propaganda
- Unless we surrender, so long we think that "I am independent. I am God. I am Supreme," these are all illusions
- Unlike the miscreants, these are adherents of the regulative principles of the scriptures, and they are called sukrtina. BG 1972 purports
- Upon being purified, Brahma could see the supreme form of the Lord. The impersonal Brahman cannot have heads, noses, ears, hands and legs. This is not possible, for these are attributes of the Lord's form

- Vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga. These are very important. This bhakti-yoga is vairagya-vidya, educating people to become unattached to material enjoyment
- Vasudeva, Sankarsana, Pradyumna and Aniruddha protect one, and Narayana, Nrsimha, Hayagriva, Varaha and Brahma - protect the other. These are different manifestations of the prakasa and vilasa forms of Lord Krsna
- Veda-vyasa is considered to be incarnation of Krsna, and he was very powerful in writing. In the Mahabharata itself is so many, so big book. And there are . . . each Purana contains thousands and thousands of verses. So these are his gifts
- Vedaham samatitani (BG 7.26): "I know everything." That is Krsna. But we do not know. That is the difference. Krsna is not impersonal. He's also a person. His personality is supreme. Nobody is greater than Him. These are the Vedic information
- Vedic civilization is so nice that you accept the platform which is suitable for you: brahmacari, grhastha, vanaprastha, sannyasa. These are called asrama. Asrama means where spiritual culture is practiced
- Vegetable fat? It is fatty. These fruits are meant for offering to Krsna. Krsna says, patram puspam phalam. Flowers, leaves, fruits He wants. So these are Krsna's food
- Vikarma refers to illusory activities, which are something like the will-o'-the-wisp. These are activities that have no meaning
- Vipratve sutram eva hi (SB 12.2.3): to become a brahmana means a thread, a two-cent worth, one thread. That's all. This is going on. These are all foretold
- Voluntarily accepting some penances and difficulties, one should take less food and less sleep. These are the procedures for practicing any kind of yoga, whether bhakti-yoga, jnana-yoga or hatha-yoga
- Vyasadeva is a disciple of Narada. Prahlada - these are big devotees - he was also disciple of Narada. And Dhruva, he was also disciple of Narada. Valmiki, he was also disciple of Narada. So Narada is the representation of the devotional path of opulence

- We are busy with mundane knowledge, but the most important part of knowledge is transcendental knowledge, "What I am? Where from I have come? What is my constitutional position? Am I this body or I am beyond this body?" These are transcendental knowledge
- We are embarassed by establishing artificial relationship with my family, country, and society, and so-called religions. These are all artificial. Real relationship, that "God is great and I am His servant," that is real religion
- We are identifying ourself with this body: "I am Indian," "I am Hindu," "I am Christian," "I am brahmin," "I am black," "I am white." These are all designations. This is not my real identity. My real identity is aham brahmasmi, "I am spirit soul."
- We are imposing some tapasya, that "Don't indulge in these things. No illicit sex, no intoxication, no meat-eating, no gambling." These are the items of tapasya for advancing in Krsna consciousness. So is it very difficult? It is not difficult
- We are impure because we are compact in designations: Oh, I am Christian-I am Hindu-I am American-I am Indian-I am white-I am black. These are all designations. If you simply know that "I am servant of Krsna. I am servant of God," then you are purified
- We are independent," "There is no life after death." These are all foolish man's theory. We are eternal, there is life after death, and that life also has got different gradation
- We cannot even imagine the duration of life on the highest planet. It is stated in Bhagavad-gita that Brahma's twelve hours are inconceivable even to our mathematicians. These are all descriptions of the external energy of the Lord, or maya
- We demigods can only aspire to achieve human births in Bharata-varsa to execute devotional service, but these human beings are already engaged there
- We don't ask you to dance, but the chanter automatically dances. These are the spiritual significance of this movement, and anyone is invited. There is no restriction for any caste, creed and color
- We don't take part in politics, sociology, and mental speculation, "science," or so on, so on, all nonsense. We reject, all kicked out. That is the perfection. It is simply waste of time. These are all superficial. Just like waves in the sea
- We don't wish to die, because in actuality we are permanent. Nor do we want to grow old or be diseased, because these are all external or nonpermanent states
- We have created so many dharmas: Hindu dharma, Mussulman dharma, Christian dharma. These are manufactured. Of course, there is indication how to execute dharma, but real dharma: when you come to the conclusion, vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma sudurlabhah
- We have got information from Vedic scripture that formerly gun metal, gun metal mixed with mercury, could be transformed into gold. So these are some of the chemical process, physical process, which is being done by scientific advancement of knowledge
- We have recently experienced a war between India and Pakistan. Within fourteen days there have been immense losses of men and money, and there have been disturbances to the entire world. These are the reactions of sinful life
- We have to see how much service we are going to give Krsna. This minority, majority, these are all material conception of life. If you can give major service to Krsna, that is your success of life. I started this movement alone, minority
- We have to study from the sastric vision. Sastra-caksusat. How you'll see? You'll see through the authority, scriptures. So these are the statements of authoritative scriptures
- We hear about the city of Varanasi at the time of Hariscandra, long, long ago, many millions of years ago. So, Mathura also. These are very, very old cities, Varanasi
- We must know that whatever we possess, whatever we are seeing, these are all dream, temporary
- We prescribe, "No illicit sex, no meat-eating, no intoxication, no gambling." These are the four pillars of sinful life. If we avoid these thing, then we can stay on the platform of purity. And God consciousness, KC, is based on this morality
