- Sukadeva Gosvami replied (to the question of Pariksit about the deliverence from hellish life) : Yes, I have already described various hellish conditions typical of a severe and painful life. The point is that one has to counteract such a life - SB 6.1.7
- Sukadeva Gosvami says that - Whatever punishment I have described in the Fifth Canto on account of different sinful activities, one has to suffer that, unless he performs atonement
- Sukracarya gave Vedic evidence that one should not give everything to a poor man. Rather, when a poor man comes for charity one should untruthfully say, "Whatever I have, I have given you. I have no more." It is not that one should give everything to him
- Suppose as business man, I've done very nicely. I have given in charity. That's nice. You get better life. But for business sake, I have earned money by hook and crook, my mentality's just like crocodile or dog; then I have to become a crocodile

T

- Temporary I have got some misunderstanding with some friend, or temporary I do not get some nice food, and therefore suffering - these sufferings are extra, but real suffering is this - janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi
- That barter system. You have got rice; I have got something else. So I give you something; you give me something
- That is the definition given by Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Every . . . purity, impurity, everything is in the heart. If one, in impure condition, he is thinking that, "I have now become pure," that is rascaldom
- The analysis of man is perfect when he is searching after his constitutional position, "What I am? Am I this body? Why I have come to this world?" This inquisitiveness required. That is the special prerogative of human being
- The anger can be utilized in Krsna consciousness. Everything can be utilized in Krsna consciousness. Why should I give up anger? Krsna is also angry, and I am son of Krsna. So anger is in me because I have got the qualities of my father

- The author of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta says - I have only written what I have learned from them - previous acaryas
- The beast, the birds, they cannot offer any gratitude. But I am human being, I have got developed consciousness. I must feel grateful for God's mercy and offer my gratitude. That is my duty

- The dead son immediately replied (to the question of Caitanya that why he was leaving the house of Srivasa) - Beyond Your desire, I cannot do anything. I have no such power

- The demoniac person thinks: So much wealth do I have today, & I will gain more according to my schemes. So much is mine now, and it will increase in the future, more and more. He is my enemy, and I have killed him; and my other enemy will also be killed
- The fact is this: "How one can become my enemy? If I am Krsna's servant, how one can become my enemy? If one is acting as my enemy, it is Krsna's desire. I have got some defect, and He is correcting me." Therefore it is called samah sarvesu bhutesu
- The fallen person continued, "I therefore pray, O my Lord, O deliverer from the hellish conditions of life. I have fallen into this hell, but I shall try to remember Your holy name always, and in this way I shall try to keep my body and soul together"
- The first question was put before Lord Caitanya, - My dear master, I have come to You to ask the first question, that - What I am? Why I am conditioned to suffer three kinds of miserable condition of life always
- The gopis think: "I have offered this body to Lord Krsna. He is its owner, and it brings Him enjoyment"
- The Gosvamis are crying, "Where is Krsna? Where is Radharani?" They're crying: ghosantav iti sarvato vraja-pure khedair maha-vihvalau. Mad. Mad after. This is the process of krsna-bhajana. Not that "I've seen just last night Krsna dancing with the gopis"
- The gosvamis, disciples of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the most perfect and highly elevated beings, never said, "I have seen Krsna." Instead, they constantly cried - Where is Radharani? Where are Lalita and Visakha and the other damsels of Vrndavana
- The hunter replied: I am surrendering unto your (Narada Muni's) feet. Please save me from all the reactions of my sinful activities which I have committed in the past, and please direct me to the proper path so that I can be free
- The hunter replied: My dear sir (Narada Muni), from my very childhood I have been taught to kill animals in this way (half-killing an animal). Please tell me how I can get rid of all the offenses and sinful activities which I have accumulated
- The King (Nrga) continued, "In spite of all this, unfortunately one of the brahmanas' cows that I had given in charity chanced to enter amongst my other cows. Not knowing this, I again gave it in charity, to another brahmana"
- The King (Priyavrata) thus began criticizing himself: Alas, how condemned I have become because of my sense gratification! I have now fallen into material enjoyment, which is exactly like a covered well. I have had enough!
- The kings thought that their kingdoms were their personal property. "I have so much property, such a big kingdom," they thought. "I am God. I am the lord of all I survey." But that is not actually the fact
- The Lord (Caitanya), understanding his (the muslim tailor's) attitude, showed him His original form as Krsna. The tailor then began to dance, saying - I have seen! I have seen! - He became absorbed in ecstatic love and began to dance with Lord Caitanya
- The Lord is paramesvara, the supreme controller; therefore we are also isvaras, or controllers. For example, I have some controlling power to take a drink of water when I cough
- The Mayavadi philosopher says that "I am God, but I have forgotten myself, that I am God." So how God can forget? Here it is the evidence. How God can forget? If you forget, then you are not God, immediately. There is no other argument
- The Mayavadis cannot understand this. They think, "Because the spiritual master has to be accepted as God and because I have become a spiritual master, I have become God." This is rebellious
- The message (by Paundraka to Krsna) contained the following statements, "I have descended as King Paundraka, taking compassion on the distressed conditioned souls out of my unlimited causeless mercy"
- The messenger concluded, "As the messenger and representative of all those imprisoned kings, I have submitted my words before Your Lordship (Krsna) and presented their prayers to You"
- The messenger concluded, "Now I have explained the awful position of the kings, and Your Lordship (Krsna) can consider and do whatever You like"
- The nondevotee do not recognize that "It is Krsna's prasadam; by mercy of Krsna I have got it." That is nondevotee. And a devotee recognizes. This is the distinction between devotee and nondevotee
- The person in knowledge, he must see that, I cannot avoid death, I cannot avoid birth, I cannot avoid old age, I cannot avoid disease so long I have got this material body
- The proprietor is Paramatma. I am given the chance to use it, so my senses, so-called my senses, that is not my senses. I have not created my hand. The hand is created by God, or by Krsna, through the agency of this material nature
- The space travelers are very proud: "Oh, I have touched it (the moon)." But what have they gained? Even if we were able to live there, it would not be for long. It will all be destroyed in the end
- The story of the potter. The potter is planning. He has got few pots and he is planning, "Now I have got these four pots and I will sell. I will make some profit. Then there will be ten pots. Then I'll sell ten pots, I'll make some profit"
- The warning: "I have come." (makes sound like flying mosquito) "Hnn-nn-nn." Where is that brain? The mosquito has so nice brain that he gives you warning that, - I have come to bite you. If you like, you can save yourself

- There is a statement by Yamunacarya to this effect: "Since I have begun to enjoy these transcendental exchanges of love, which are always newer and newer, whenever I remember the pleasure of past sex life, my lips curl and I wish to spit on the idea"
- There was arguing and fighting between the two brahmanas, and they came before me (King Nrga) and charged that I had taken back a cow I had previously given in charity
- Therefore I (Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami) have described these (in the Caitanya-caritamrta) with logic and discrimination
- These (I am now happy; I have everything in order; my bank balance is quite enough) are some of the thoughts which engross the insanely attached householder who is blind to the passing of eternal time
- These questions must arise: Why am I suffering? Wherefrom have I come? What is my constitutional position? Where shall I go after death? Why am I put into a miserable form of life? Why are there birth, death, old age and disease
- These sastras... I have quoted so many things from the sastra, from the books of knowledge. It is meant for the human being, not for the cats and dogs
- These two things required: knowledge and detachment. Knowledge means that "I am not this body," and detachment means "I am not this body; therefore I have nothing to do with this material world
- They (the Gosvamis) never said that "Now I have seen Krsna." Never said. Caitanya Mahaprabhu also said that - I was dreaming Krsna. Why you got Me awakened? I lost the chance
- They have brought little sand and rocks after spending millions of dollars, and they are satisfied: "Now I have gone to the moon." This kind of bluffing can go on, but we don’t accept it
- They think there is no life after death. "So I have got this life now. Let me enjoy my senses to the best capacity."
- They think, "By chance, I have got this life, and it will be finished after death. There is no question of past, present or future. Let us enjoy." This is called ignorance, tamasa, irresponsible life
- They think, "I have conquered. I have got three crores of rupees." Speculating on (indistinct) and share, that's all. Then parabhavah: his three crores of rupees remain with his bank, and he goes with his wife, and he accepts another body
- They think, "Now I have realized that 'I am the same. I am same God. " So this process is called jnana system. So Caitanya says that these jnanis, they artificially think that "Now I have realized myself," but actually that is not self-realization
- This (surrendering to Krsna) may seem to be a simple instruction to follow, but invariably our reaction is, "Oh, surrender? Give up? But I have so many responsibilities"
- This attachment increases (anything relationship to this body). The material attachment involves thinking, - I am this body, and because I have this body in a particular place, that is my country. And that is going on
- This is called surrender that, "I have tried to satisfy my . . . the whims of my senses so many lives. I have become frustrated, confused. Let me try this life to satisfy the senses of Krsna." That's all
- This is love of Krsna, that "How can I live?" - separation from Krsna. This is Caitanya Mahaprabhu's philosophy. And the Gosvamis followed them. They never said that "Now I have seen Krsna." Never said
- This is not my business to make intimate relation with woman and get money. I could do. There was chance. When attempt was failed, the man who introduced that woman to me, he one day said, "I have seen many swamis, but none like you"
- This is oneness. I keep my individuality, but I am so surrendered that I have nothing to disagree with Krsna
- This is real knowledge that, "I, as living entity, I have all these things, activities, desires, loving propensity. Everything is there. But that is being misguided." We do not know where to place all these things. That is avidya
- This question must arise. - Wherefrom I have come? What is my constitutional position? Where I shall go after death? Why I am put into this miserable condition of life? Why there is birth, death, old age, disease? I do not want all of them
- This simple philosophy. And this is a fact. What is this body? This body is this earth. "Dust thou art, dust thou be-est." Mother is this material nature. I've got this body. And the father, He is Krsna, or God. What is wrong in accepting this philosophy
- This time I (Caitanya) must go (to Vrndavana). Will you (Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya and Ramananda Raya) please give Me permission? Save for you two, I have no other resort
- "Thus far I have acquired so much money and land. Now I have to add more and more. In this way I shall be the greatest proprietor of everything. Who can compete with me?" These are all demoniac conceptions
- Thus I (the young brahmana) have called upon a great personality in this transaction. I have asked the Supreme Godhead (Saksi-gopala) to be my witness. The entire world accepts the words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Today I am a human being, but tomorrow I may become a dog, and then whatever activities I have performed in this life will be a failure. This simple truth is now rarely understood, but one who is a dhira can understand this
- Today my senses, from my eyes down to my toes, are fortunate. Today my life is successful because I have been able to see the lotus feet (of Caitnaya) that are worshiped by the goddess of fortune
- Today, since I am in an American body, I think I have so many duties as an American man. Tomorrow I may be in an American dog body, and immediately my duty would change
U
- Under the shadow of a banyan tree in an uninhabited forest I (Narada Muni) began to meditate upon the Supersoul situated within, using my intelligence, as I had learned from liberated souls
- Unless I have developed devotional service, then how I can chant Krsna? Just like they (disciples of SP) are chanting Hare Krsna. But I am advising everyone. But we, who others are chanting, they are not chanting, because they have no love for Krsna
- Upon seeing the awesome universal form of Krsna, Arjuna said: I have in the past addressed You as 'O Krsna,' 'O Yadava,' 'O my friend,' without knowing Your glories. Please forgive whatever I may have done in madness or in love

- Vedic literatures are called revealed. It is not that I can understand by your ABCD knowledge; I can purchase one Bhagavad-gita, and because I have grammatical knowledge, I can understand. No. Vedesu durlabha
- Vimukta-maninah, falsely thinking that, "I have now become liberated." Avisuddha-buddhayah. But the intelligence is not very clear. This is last snare of maya. When one thinks that, "I am God. I have become God," that is the last snare of maya
- Virahena, always feeling separation of Krsna, this is Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s teaching. Not that "I have got now Krsna." No. Caitanya Mahaprabhu never said. His direct disciples, the Gosvamis, they simply begged separation: Where is Krsna?
- Vrndavana dasa Thakura has elaborately described all these pastimes of the Lord's early age. What I (Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami) have given (in Sri Caitanya-caritamrta) is but a condensed presentation of the same pastimes
W
- We are busy with mundane knowledge, but the most important part of knowledge is transcendental knowledge, "What I am? Where from I have come? What is my constitutional position? Am I this body or I am beyond this body?" These are transcendental knowledge
- We are not perfect, none of us, but if you perfectly follow the orders of the perfect, then you are perfect. You should not think that "I have become perfect."
- We are part and parcel of Krsna or God sanatana, eternally, not that at the present moment I have become separated from the spirit soul, and when I shall be uncovered by this gross and subtle body, we shall become one
- We are struggling. I have got income, say two hundred dollars, so that is not sufficient for me. So I am struggling hard to get five hundred dollars, to avoid this painful situation. Again when in five hundred dollars I feel another pain
- We can have any form of life out of 8,400,000 species that are before you. You should always remember that "If by chance I slip to one of them, then how I have wasted my time." This is responsible life
- We don't say that "I say this. I have manufactured this. I have become very big man, God." We don't say that nonsense. It is all nonsense. Simply carry the message of Krsna; then you are perfect
- We living entities, why we forget? It is a fact that from my past life I have transmigrated to this body. Now I cannot say in my past life what was my body. This is my nature because I change my body
- We say, "Oh, surrender? But I have so many responsibilities." And maya, illusion, says to us, "Don't do it, or you'll be out of my clutches. Just stay in my clutches, and I’ll kick you" - CC Intro
- We should love God without any cause. Just like we go to temple, church, with a motive. We go there: "O God, give us our daily bread. I have come to You for my bread." That is not love of God. That is love of bread
- We should not imitate such shivering to show to the public that "I have become a great devotee," but we should execute devotional service nicely and faithfully; then that stage will come automatically, shivering
- What I am? Why I have come here? Why I am put into so many miserable condition of life? Is there any remedy? - these questions, when arises, then, practically, his spiritual life begins
- What is the difference between dog and me? The only difference is that dog has no religion; I've got religion. So if I give up religion, life of religiosity, then I am equal to dharmena hinah pasubhih samanah
- What is the problem of life? Not that "I have got some pain here, I have some trouble or some . . ." These are not problems. This problem one should tolerate
- What is the use of your becoming naked? You must do something. That is Krsna consciousness. Not that "I have become mendicant. I have given up all material things." You cannot give material things
- What kind of surrender? Marobi rakhobi, jo iccha tohara. "Now I have surrendered. If you want, you can kill me. And if You want, You can keep me." This is surrender. This is trust. "If You like, you can kill me. And if You like, you can save me"
- What symptoms you accept that I have got soul? First of all you have to ascertain that
- When Caitanya took sannyasa, so mother became very much upset: "Oh, that I have no husband, and this boy is going to take sannyasa." Naturally. But that is a different case. For Krsna's sake, we can forsake our obligatory duties
- When he (Sanatana Gosvami) approached Caitanya Mahaprabhu and submitted, "Sir, I have come to You to know what I am, why I am suffering in this threefold miserable condition of life," that is human life
- When he realizes himself that, "I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose; I have nothing to do with this material world," that is called brahma-bhutah. That is Brahman realization

- When I was not sannyasi, I was dressing like any gentleman. Now I have changed my dress. That does not mean that I have died. No. I have changed my body, that's all. I have changed my dress
- When one is being punished, he thinks, "What a mistake I have made! I shall not commit this sin anymore." But as soon as he is out of danger, he again commits the same sin
- When one is in full knowledge that, "I am spirit, aham brahmasmi. I'm spirit soul. Now I have my business with the spiritual world," that is liberation. That is liberation & the means which help you to come to that position, that is called spiritual life
- When one is in full knowledge that, "I have nothing to do with this material world, the everything made by the material nature, that is illusion. I have nothing to do with anything of them. I am spirit, aham brahmasmi," that is liberation
- When the spirit soul is active, sometimes the Mayavadi philosophers, they think, "Now I've realized that I am not this body, I am not matter, I am spirit soul, so now I have become Narayana. I have become the Supreme." But no, that is mistake
- Who can describe the unlimited glories of Advaita Acarya? I write here as much as I have known from great authorities
- Who has created this country, this vast land, the sky, the sea, the ocean? I have not created. So how can I claim that this is mine? I have come empty-handed from the womb of my mother, and I shall go empty-handed
- Who's not full of anxieties? Those who are in this material world, who can say, "No, I have no anxiety"? That is not possible. Either you become President Nixon or in the street beggar, there is anxiety. At any moment danger may come
- Why I have accepted this body which I do not want? What kind of God I am? So the whole world is full of these ideas. So this movement is a revolutionary movement, Krsna consciousness
- Why I have come here? Where I shall go again? Why I am put into the miserable condition of life? I do not wish to die. Why death is enforced upon me?" this is called brahma-jijnasa, inquiry, "Why?" Therefore there is a Kena Upanisad, - Why
- Why I shall become hogs and dogs and again I shall put myself in the cycle of birth and death? I have got this life after so many evolutionary process. Why not practice little tapasya in this life? This is knowledge
- Why I shall steal? There is enough food. But because I haven't got this knowledge that "God is the proprietor. I am His part and parcel, son. So if He has provided food for the elephant, who eats at a time forty kilos, I cannot eat?" This is knowledge
- Why it is called sanatana-dharma. That I have already explained. The living entity is sanatana, or eternal; God is sanatana; and there is sanatana-dhama, the Lord's eternal abode. As Krsna describes in the Bhagavad-gita (8.20), paras tasmat tu bhavo 'nyo
- Why? - he will ask - It is my house, and it is paid for. I have money and a job and responsibilities. Why should I get out?. "Just get out. Don't talk. Get out"

- Yamunacarya said: Since I have been engaged in the transcendental loving service of Krsna, realizing ever-new pleasure in Him, whenever I think of sex pleasure, I spit at the thought, and my lips curl with distaste
- Yamunacarya says, Since I have become attracted by the beauty of Radha and Krsna, when there is attraction for a woman or a memory of sex life with a woman, I at once spit on it, and my face turns in disgust
- Yes, it is worst. Because I am spirit soul, I am now imprisoned with this material body. It is my unnatural state, and I am eternal, and because I have accepted this material body I have to undergo birth, death, old age and disease
- Yes, Vallabhacarya's Vaisnava, acarya. But that very deviation, that "I have done something better than Sridhara," that is not our parampara system. Then he was thinking himself better than Sridhara. That is not allowed. We should always remain servant
- You are getting twenty dollars a day now. Tomorrow I have no money. You will have to work free, - "Ah, no, no, sir. I'm not coming. Because I am not serving you, I am serving your money." So actually we are serving money
- You cannot say: "No, I have made my philosophy to become a child." That may be your personal philosophy, but law will not allow you. Ignorance is no excuse
- You create dharma. I have created this dharma, another man creates another dharma; these are not dharma. Therefore, where the Bhagavad-gita ends, that sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam
- You don't become krsna-premi all of a sudden. "Now I have become krsna-premi. Let me cry." And then, after crying, "Oh, my throat is now dried up. Give me cigarette." This kind of bhakti has no value
- You have got your body, I have got my body, another has got his body. In this way we have got different bodies. So we must understand this is the platform of cultural unity
- You have to remain where you are placed by your karma. You cannot move. I cannot move beyond this body. Therefore our senses are all imperfect. We think that, "I have got my legs; I can walk very fast." No. You cannot go fast as it is destined by you

- You, the Supreme Person, You are also speaking to me. And so far I am concerned, I have realized now that You are the Supreme Lord, Parabrahma. - So if we follow Arjuna, then there is no difficulty. Accept Krsna as Parabrahma
- Your duty is to appoint nice physician, nice medicine. But is there any guarantee that he will live? Why does he die? You can say that "I have given the best medicine and best medical treatment," still, he dies. What is the cause
- Your speaking shall be accepted, and Krsna's speaking will be rejected? I have got some support, but what support you have got except your statement? Then everyone can give a statement and he becomes an authority
