- A devotee never thinks to himself, "I am master," only "I am servant." That is the difference between maya and reality. He at least knows: "I am never master. I am always a servant." When a servant is thinking, "I am master," that is called illusion

- Every disciple should always remain busy in some work for Krishna. We shall not allow to remain vacant our mind, and if the mind is always filled up with Krishna Consciousness activities, there is no chance of Maya to sit on the mind
- Every one of us is serving under the order of maya, illusory energy, material energy, and we are becoming tired, sometimes very much fatigued
- Every one of us is under the impression that we are these bodies, but actually we are not. Accepting the body to be the self is called illusion, or maya. The third imperfection is that conditioned souls have a tendency to cheat

- So materialistic life means that one is bitten by the snake of maya, illusion, and thus, without any Krsna consciousness, he is almost dead. Now the so-called dead man bitten by a snake can be brought back again to life by the chanting of some mantra
- So there is no question of making it vacant or void. To fill up the place with better things. So when you think of Krsna, then you forget maya. Otherwise you are entrapped with maya

- The whole material existence is full of problems, and thus the fear problem is always prominent. This is due to our association with the illusory energy of the Lord, known as maya, yet all fear is vanished as soon as there is the sound of the Lord
- The whole principle of spiritual life is to turn our attention back to Krishna, and thus immediately be freed from all entanglements of Maya
- The whole teaching of the Gita is targeted toward this end: that a living being, as Krsna's eternal servitor, cannot be separated from Krsna, and his sense of being an identity apart from Krsna is called maya

- There are millions and trillions of living entities everywhere, and they are engaged by maya in suffering and enjoying the results of their fruitive activity, life after life. This is the position of the materially conditioned living entities
- There are so many university degrees - M.A., Ph.D., D.A.C., and so on, so on, elite. Still, he does not know? Still, he's mudha? The Bhagavad-gita says, "Yes." Mayayapahrta-jnanah: The knowledge he has achieved, that has been taken away by maya

- Those who are under the control of maya, and specifically under the control of lusty desires, are called maya-mrga. Indeed, everyone in the conditional stage of material life is a maya-mrga
- Those who have not surrendered to Krsna, they are four classes, means most sinful, and rascal, lowest of the mankind, and although he has got university degrees, his knowledge is taken away by maya. Asurim bhavam asritah
- Tie of affection in terms of material relation is the relation of maya because the relations of the body or the mind are due to the influence of the external energy
- To avoid the very bewildering illusory influence, one must accept the words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as they are. Only then can one escape the influence of the illusory energy

- We are all in a very fearful situation, but we do not understand this. Under the spell of maya, we are thinking we are very happy, but this is not a fact
- We are all sadhus, actually, originally, because we are part and parcel of Krsna, but in contact with maya we have become asadhu. Sadhu means who are pure devotees. Bhajate mam ananya-bhak. That is sadhu
- We are all under authority, yet we say that we don't want authority. This is called maya, illusion. We do, however, have a certain independence - we can choose to be under the authority of our senses or the authority of Krsna

- We are simply in a phase of forgetfulness, and this forgetfulness is called Maya. There is a nice example in the waning of the moon. To us the moon appears to be changing, but in fact the moon is always the same
- We are thinking independent and we are planning so many things independently to become happy. It is not possible. That is not possible. That is maya's illusory play
- We are trying to be the enjoyer of this material world. That is maya. The world is not maya, but the intention of the living entities to enjoy this material world, to satisfy his senses, that is maya
- We are trying to conquer over the stringent laws of material nature, and that labor, that useless spoiling of life, we are thinking that we are . . . this is happiness. This is called maya
- We are under the stringent rules of material nature, but still we are thinking that we have conquered. This is called maya
- We can even go from New York to Boston in less than an hour by plane, but it takes even longer than that just to get to the airport. This situation is called maya-sukhaya. Maya means false, illusory
- We cannot imitate the Lord, nor can we become the supreme enjoyer. This is not possible, and when we think it is, we become conditioned by maya
- We come here empty-handed; we leave here, say, fifty years or hundred years. When I become proprietor? This is another maya, renouncement. As enjoyment is another maya, similarly, renouncement. So we have to give up this renouncement or enjoyment
- We do not accept this Sankara's philosophy, that the world is mithya. No. It is fact. It is fact. Because unless it . . . but the vision is different. Vision is different. That is called maya. What is the fact? The fact: this world is created by Krsna
- We do not hate maya because we know maya is also a faithful agent of Krishna, but her task is very thankless

- We should always pray, "Krsna, kindly save me from the pitfalls of maya." He'll do it. But if we want to cheat Krsna and cheat guru, then you'll be cheated. That's all. The guru will not be cheated, neither Krsna will be cheated. You'll be cheated

- When one falls in the river of nescience, he is always tossed here and there by the waves, but the same maya can also save him when be surrenders to Krsna, or becomes Krsna conscious
- When one forgets God, that is material consciousness. Material consciousness is called maya. Actually one should not forget. But if he forgets somehow or other, that is material consciousness
