A
- A devotee does not live alone. Of course, everyone lives with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but because the devotee is engaged in His service, he actually does not live in any material condition

- Krsna said, "In the same way, the body of a living being is nothing but a composition of the five elements, and the living entity embodied in the material condition is also part and parcel of Me"
- Krsna said, "One should be fixed in devotional service. Thus one can live a very happy & peaceful life, even within this material condition. In other words, one should be callous to the material body & its by-products and should be unaffected by them"

- Maharaja Pariksit asked, "So how was it possible for them to get freed from the material condition just by thinking of a paramour?" One should consider here that Krsna and ordinary living beings are qualitatively one

- Nitya-siddha krsna-bhakti. In the Caitanya-caritamrta it is said, nitya-siddha krsna-bhakti. Our love for Krsna is there already, but it is being choked up by material condition
- Nobody is educated, neither interested in the spiritual life. But unless you take interest in spiritual life, our this material condition of miserable life will continue

- One begins his treatment by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra because by chanting this holy name of the Lord a person in the material condition will be relieved from all misconceptions
- One cannot be happy under any circumstances unless one pleases the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but one who has learned how to please the Supreme Lord need no longer lament for his material condition

- One must realize that the material condition of life is full of distresses. One can realize this with purified intelligence. When one's intelligence is purified, he can understand that unwanted, temporary, material life is just like a dream

- One who always thinks of Krsna within the core of his heart is the best yogi. By practicing this best of all yoga systems, one is liberated from the material condition

- Our loving propensity has turned into lust at the present moment due to material condition. So if you want to purify that lust tendency into love, then you can see God. That is the condition

- People are kept in darkness about the goal of life, and thus there is a continuous struggle for existence. We speak of "survival of the fittest," but no one survives, for no one is free under material conditions
- People bewildered by material conditions try to be united, but although they strive for unity among men and nations, all their attempts are futile. Everyone must struggle alone for existence with the many elements of nature
- People in general, who live under material conditions, facing accidental death at every moment, do not understand that this life is temporary, because of the illusion created by temporary opulence. Only by providence have I been saved from that condition
- Philanthropists and altruists do not realize that it is impossible to improve people's material conditions. Material conditions are already established by the superior administration according to one's karma. They cannot be changed
- Prahlada Maharaja recommended that to stop this material condition of repeated birth and death, one should go to the forest - vana

- Process of pure devotional service simultaneously serves the purpose of jnana-yoga; liberation from material conditions is automatically achieved by the gradual development of pure devotional service

- Radharani is daivi-maya. Just like we are, in our material conditional life, we are under the material energy. Similarly, in our liberated state we have to become under the spiritual energy. That spiritual energy is Radharani
- Reading or hearing of transcendental literatures helps one become liberated even in the conditional state of material existence
- Reception of spiritual knowledge is never checked by any material condition. Thus Prahlada Maharaja, from his very childhood, spoke spiritual knowledge to his class friends, and certainly it was effective, although all of them were children
- Religion does not mean to improve your material condition. That is not religion
- Religious principles aim at learning how to render transcendental loving service to the Lord. That service must be unmotivated and unchecked by material conditions. Then human society will be happy in all respects

- Sa eva go-kharah. Everyone is interested with this bodily conception of life like cats and dogs. This is the position. Not only now, always, this is the material condition
- Self-realization, understanding oneself as Brahman, or spirit soul, is very difficult in the material condition
- Simply by hearing about Krsna and speaking about Him, we will be immediately relieved from the suffering of this material condition
- Since all living beings are His beloved sons, His parts and parcels, God is more sorry than we ourselves to see the sufferings we are constantly undergoing in this material condition
- Since the spiritual energy, the living being, who is part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, desires to enjoy this material world, the Lord gives him a chance to accept different types of material bodies and enjoy or suffer in different material conditions
- So long you shall remain within this material world, you have to accept these four principles of material condition, that you'll have to die
- Some of the living entities are relatively happy in better conditions of life, whereas others are in distressed conditions of life. But factually, none of them are actually happy in material conditional life
- Somehow or other if a conditioned soul surrenders to such personalities (Krsna, Lord Caitanya or His representatives) and by intimate association with them chances to become Krsna conscious, he is saved from the material conditions of life
- Spiritual variegatedness is eternally independent of all material conditions and is nondifferent from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, both being absolute

- Srila Madhvacarya says that those who are too materially affected continue the bodily conception. Such persons are concerned with different bodily symptoms, whereas one freed from bodily conceptions lives without the body even in the material condition
- Srila Narottama dasa Thakura, also, prays like this, "My dear Lord, O son of Nanda Maharaja, associated with the daughter of Vrsabhanu, I have come to take shelter under Your lotus feet after suffering greatly in the material condition of life"
- Such literatures (modern fictions and novels) cannot do good to anyone; on the contrary, they agitate the young mind unnecessarily and increase the modes of passion and ignorance, leading to increasing bondage to the material conditions
- Such preachers (devotees who preach Krsna consciousness, the teachings of Bhagavad-gita, everywhere) in Krsna consciousness are called paramahamsas. As indicated by the word vimukta-sanga, they have nothing to do with material conditions

- That (God is expanded in everything, but He is not everything, simultaneously one and different) is explained in this (BG 9.4) verse. In the material condition we have a conception of beginning, end and middle, but for the SPG there are no such things

- The conditioned soul has no information of the spirit and its exalted existence beyond the effects of the material condition

- The human form of life is meant for cleansing away these misconceptions (upadhis). If this is not done, one has to repeat the cycle of birth and death and thus suffer all material conditions
- The individual soul, having become conditioned by material nature, is not supreme. The Supreme is different from the individual soul. The Supreme Lord can extend His hand without limit; the individual soul cannot. BG 1972 purports
- The influence of time is exhibited by the symptoms of birth, death, old age and disease, and these four principles of material conditions are present everywhere in any part of the material cosmos up to the planet Brahmaloka
- The king must know that human life is meant for liberating the encaged soul from the bondage of material conditions, and therefore his duty is to see that the citizens are properly looked after to attain this highest stage of perfection
- The knower of the Absolute Truth knows that his material condition of life is under the supreme control of the Lord; consequently he is not disturbed by all kinds of material reactions, which he considers to be the mercy of the Lord. BG 1972 purports
- The living entities are encaged in the conditions of material bondage because of their propensity for overlordship. But by engagement in the devotional service of the Lord one becomes detached from this enjoying spirit
- The living entities who are conditioned in the material world are manifested in the creation in terms of respective inclinations inherent in them, and the requisite material body is offered to each and every one of them by the material energy
- The living entity can be liberated from the material condition at any moment, provided that he wishes to do so. The material environment is called maya

- The living entity is eternal and blissful, but despite miserable material conditions, he thinks the material world to be real and factual due to his ignorance
- The living entity is not really connected with this material world, but due to his tendency to enjoy the material senses, he is put into the material condition
- The living entity misunderstands himself to be a material product. This means that the present perverted way of thinking, feeling and willing, under material conditions, is not natural for him
- The living entity, while concocting with the mind, creates the material condition. Because matter is destructible, through the material condition the living entity suffers. Otherwise, the living entity is detached from all material conditions
- The Lord expressed Himself to be unable to save Durvasa Muni, although the Muni was so powerful that he could reach the Lord directly under material conditions. But Durvasa Muni was saved by Maharaja Ambarisa, a devotee of the Lord
- The Lord is always prepared to shower His mercy upon fallen souls struggling against miserable material conditions
- The Lord is the predominator of the external energy, maya, whereas the living entity is predominated by the same maya under the material condition
- The material conditional bodies develop out of the living entities' forgetfulness of their relationship with Godhead
- The material conditions are described in this verse (SB 4.26.8) as guna-pravaha, the flowing of the three modes of material nature
- The messenger said, "The material body is awarded to us by the modes of material nature, and on account of this we are full of anxieties. The material condition of life simply involves bearing the burden of this dead body"

- The modern trend of material civilization is to increase the temperature of the feverish material condition, which has reached the point of 107 degrees in the form of atomic energy
- The negative way, to make it zero. That is void philosophy. But actually that is not the case. The case is that you are in trouble on material condition. You get out of this material condition. Then there is real life, eternal life
- The nondevotees, however, are very careful about preserving their material condition of life
- The original proprietor of everything is Lord Krsna (bhoktaram yajna-tapasam sarva-loka-mahesvaram). The Lord, therefore, knows particularly well how to develop the material condition of the living entities within this material world
- The owner of the body, is eternal, but not the body. In so many ways, Krsna is explaining about the material condition of this body. But those who are not very intelligent, with poor fund of knowledge, it is very difficult for them to understand
- The path of fruitive work (karma-kanda), even when decorated by religious ceremonies meant to elevate one’s material condition, is a cheating process because it can never enable one to gain relief from material existence and achieve the highest goal
- The process of meditation recommended herein (in 2.2.12) is bhakti-yoga, or the process of devotional service after one is liberated from the material conditions. Jnana-yoga is the process of liberation from the material conditions
- The purport is that even though material conditions are miserable, if these (BG 16.1-3) qualities are developed by practice, by all classes of men, then gradually it is possible to rise to the highest platform of transcendental realization. BG 1972 pur

- The tongue is considered to be the most uncontrollable sense because it hankers for so many unwholesome eatables, thereby forcing the living entity into the dungeon of material conditional life
- The Vedic performances are based on the three modes of material nature. Those who are elevated above the material condition are not at all interested in such Vedic performances
- The word avicchinna, "without interruptions," is very important in this connection. No material condition can stop the flow of the devotional service of a pure devotee
- The word nispidyamanam ("being crushed") is very significant. Every living entity in the material condition is actually being crushed again and again, and to be saved from this position one must take shelter of the SP of Godhead. Then one will be happy
- The word siddhaye indicates liberation. Only after being liberated from material conditioning can one understand Krsna

- There are many pure devotees in Navadvipa and Vrndavana who have no desire other than to execute devotional service (anyabhilasita-sunyam jnana-karmady-anavrtam (CC Madhya 19.167)), and one may thus become free from the bondage of material conditions
- There are millions and trillions of living entities everywhere, and they are engaged by maya in suffering and enjoying the results of their fruitive activity, life after life. This is the position of the materially conditioned living entities
- There are two kinds of trembling of the body, and two kinds of standings of the hair on end. Such phenomena occur either in great spiritual ecstasy or out of great fear under material conditions. BG 1972 purports
- There can be no happiness in changing one's material conditions, for everywhere there is trouble and misery

- These discussions (between Sanatana Gosvami and Lord Caitanya) which are going on, that is only for how to get liberation from the four principles of material condition, janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi. That is called moksa, moksa, or liberation
- These symptoms (relief from suffering of material condition) are visible when one no longer has material attachment. A sadhu does not think himself Hindu, Muslim, Christian, American, Indian or whatever. A sadhu simply thinks, - I am the servant of Krsna
- These voidists and impersonalists take to different types of austerities, either to attain the stage of nirvana, which means finishing the material conditions of life, or to attain oneness by merging into the body of the Lord

- They (people) do not know how to become free from their material encagement. Rsabhadeva said that such activity is not at all good, since it encages the soul again and again in a body subjected to the threefold miseries of the material condition
- They (those who are addicted to sex life) cannot improve any material condition, not to speak of becoming famous
- They are reading Bhagavad-gita, but they do not know how to get liberty. Neither they are interested. They want to stay here, and subjected to the natural . . . material condition, janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi
- They worshiped Him to become free from material conditions and thus derive the ultimate benefit. Whoever follows such great authorities is also eligible for liberation from the material world
- This is (the four divisions of human society) the arrangement of the SPG so that the conditioned souls will be released from the material condition and return home, back to Godhead. This is the purpose of Krsna's descent on the surface of the earth
- This is the way to become detached from the artificial material condition. The only remedy is to take to Krsna consciousness and constantly engage in the devotional service of Lord Vasudeva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead

- Those who try to adjust material conditions are said to be chewing the chewed. No one has been able to adjust material conditions, but life after life, generation after generation, people try and repeatedly fail
- Those who worship demigods with the consciousness that each and every demigod is a separate God cannot be elevated to the spiritual world, what to speak of persons who are simply attached to duties for the upliftment of their material condition
- To become free from material conditions means to liberate the soul
- To get free from the material conditions, one has to take to Krsna consciousness. That is the only remedy

- Unless a living entity forgets his real identity, it is impossible for him to live in the material conditions of life. Therefore the first condition of material existence is forgetfulness of one's real identity
- Unless one can find a person transcendental to the four basic defects, one should not accept advice and become a victim of the material condition
