- This (pleasing the offended devotee) was the course that Durvasa Muni had to follow, for he surrendered unto Maharaja Ambarisa
- This is Krsna's mercy. If somebody is thinking, "If I had like this, like that, like that, like that," "All right, you will have all." Just like Hiranyakasipu wanted to save himself in this way, "Yes, all are granted," but still he had to die
- This is not possible for ordinary men (Krsna expanded Himself into 16,108 forms to maintain different establishments for each wife). Therefore although the kings had to maintain many, many servants and wives, not all of them had different establishments

- We are preaching Krsna consciousness. Suppose I have to preach Krsna consciousness in Europe or America. So because a sannyasi has to walk, therefore I shall walk throughout the whole life to go to America? This is foolishness
- We are thinking, "I am this material body. I have to work day and night, and then I shall get my food, and I shall live." This is ignorance. We have lived this life of ignorance in forms other than that of a human being
- We are trying to be happy by changing the cell, by this "ism" to that "ism," by capitalism to communism, from communism to this "ism," to that "ism." That won't make us happy. You'll have to completely change from this "ism," this materialism, that's all
- We can see that it is the desire of the pure devotee. Whatever Krsna wants, He does not have to work at all. His desires are immediately fulfilled simply by His desiring
- We can't be desireless. We can't be silent. But our desires, our activities, have to be purified. That is real knowledge. That is real knowledge. We'll desire only to serve Krsna. That is purification of desire. Not that desireless. That is not possible

- We do not have to discriminate whether I am in the modes of ignorance or passion or goodness; we have simply to see whether I'm acting under the direction of the supreme consciousness
- We do not want to disturb the law and order of the state; that is not our business; but the Vedic principle to receive contribution from the devotees has to be allowed

- We don't want to have to purchase food for the cows outside from some other party; that will run into a great expense
- We find that King Priyavrata had to be persuaded by Lord Brahma to accept the post of emperor of the entire universe. Similarly, his father, Svayambhuva Manu, felt relieved to entrust the universal government to Priyavrata
- We first have to establish a relationship with the institution. We have to abide by the direction of our instructors there and work favorably according to their direction. This is essential in order to achieve the ultimate desired success
- We have nothing to do other than listen, and by listening carefully, enlightenment is sure to come. Krsna will surely help, for He is seated within. We only have to make the effort and spare a little time
- We have practical experience of this with our students in the ISKCON. Before becoming students, they were dirty looking, although they had naturally beautiful personal features; but due to having no information of KC they appeared very dirty and wretched
- We have to first of all select spiritual master. The selection is required. Because as soon as you accept one spiritual master, you cannot say that "I don't agree with you." No. That you cannot say. Then it is useless, simply waste of time
- We have to give up this body, willingly or unwillingly. The day will come when we will have to submit to the laws of nature and give up this body. Even President Kennedy in his procession had to submit to nature's law and change his body for another body
- We have to seek the association of such devotees (pure devotees of God). For this reason we have begun the International Society for Krishna Consciousness
- We have to test ourselves accordingly (with four minimum regulations) to ascertain our success in yoga execution
- We have to work for somebody else. You cannot work independently. Either for your family or for your master or for your state or for your community or for everyone. Nobody is independent. But that independence is mine

- We limited living entities have to use a particular part of the body for a particular purpose, but there is no such distinction for Krsna
- We shall have to teach character and spiritual understanding to the young children. To study other things as a high grade scholar is secondary for us
- We shall have to undergo the sufferings of material life one after another. Therefore material life is said to be duhkhalayam asasvatam; it is a reservoir of miserable conditions

- We simply have to express our feelings (in front of God while offering prayers), but in order to be able to do this we have to be aware of our position. Once we are aware of our position, our feelings can be expressed sincerely and automatically

- What is this nature's law? Nature's law means a system, a machine. Just like in this government there is system. You cannot violate. "Keep to the right!" "Stop here, red light!" You must have to stop
- What Krsna speaks, He speaks for all eternity; it does not change. It does not matter what our present occupation is or what Arjuna's occupation was - we only have to change our consciousness
- Whatever one desires can be attained simply by hearing, chanting and glorifying the activities of Maharaja Bharata. In this way, one can fulfill all his material and spiritual desires. One does not have to ask anyone else for these things
- Whatever we are doing, we are doing for satisfying the senses. This consciousness has to be changed. We have to satisfy Krsna. That consciousness has to be invoked and then our life will be successful

- When water is needed it has to be poured on the root, not on the leaves. Pouring water on the leaves serves no purpose, but pouring water on the root serves all purposes. This is the essence of the philosophy of spiritual culture
- When you work for Krsna with love and enthusiasm, that is your Krsna conscious life. If you think that "It is hackneyed, it is troublesome, but what can I do? These people ask me to do it. I have to do it," that is not Krsna consciousness
- Whenever the government disrespects the supremacy of the Personality of Godhead and fails to protect the institution of varnasrama-dharma, it will certainly have to face such catastrophes as formerly brought about by Lord Parasurama

Y
- Yamaraja, or Dharmaraja, as the superintendent of death, has to judge the criminal living entities who have committed sinful activities throughout their lives. Consequently Yamaraja is expected to be most expert in judicial matters

- Yoga practice is essentially meant for controlling the senses. The central controlling factor of all the senses is the mind; therefore one first has to practice controlling the mind by engaging it in Krsna consciousness - CC Preface

- You have to approach guru - guru means the faithful servant of God, Krsna - and take his word how to serve Him. Then you are successful
- You have to take shelter, not find out. You have to take shelter of a bona fide spiritual master. That is the beginning, adau gurvasrayam sad-dharma-prccha. Then you'll have to inquire, inquiry, sad-dharma, about pure devotional service
- You have to transfer your consciousness to understand the glorification of the Supreme. This is transcendental literature. So people have got the tendency to read but they're glorifying this rascal, mundane rascals
- You have to understand your spiritual identification. Because you are fools and rascals, you are thinking, "I am this body," and Krsna gives instruction in the beginning that you are not this body
- You may think that, having been born in America, you are very happy. But you cannot remain an American for long. You will have to be kicked out of that place
