- If one wants to understand Bhagavad-gita by his imperfect interpretations, one cannot possibly understand the mysteries of Bhagavad-gita, even though one may be a great scholar according to mundane estimation
- If the so-called transcendental literature is written by a mundane scholar, even if it is a very highly polished literary presentation, cannot be accepted
- If the whole creation is one - that is, nothing but the Supreme Lord, or Visnu - then why do the expert transcendentalists make such categories? Why do learned and expert scholars distinguish between matter and spirit
- If we can get some Chinese followers of this cult, it will be a great success. I know that amongst the Chinese there are many scholars & learned cultured gentlemen. To convince them will be easier than others, even though they are of Buddhist philosophy

- In the library other books may be kept for comparative study by the scholars. I have no objection, but our main purpose will be to accelerate the grandeur of Chaitanya philosophy. On this basis I have full cooperation
- In the modern age, such malicious scholars (who attempt to misrepresent the Pancaratra-sastras) have even commented misleadingly upon the Bhagavad-gita, which was spoken by Krsna, to prove that there is no Krsna
- In the West also Bhagavad-gita is accepted as a great book of philosophy, and many great scholars and philosophers in the West have read it and commented upon it
- In this age there are very few scholars. Almost everyone is a fallen meat-eater, drunkard, woman-hunter or gambler. Such persons are never considered learned scholars, even if they pose as such

- It (Vedanta-sutra) covers the subject of eternity, and the methods are scholarly. So there cannot be any doubt about the transcendental scholarship of Vyasadeva. So why should he lament?
- It has become especially fashionable for modern scholars and politicians to interpret Bhagavad-gita as if it were something fictitious, and by their wrong interpretations they are spoiling their own careers and the careers of others
- It is just as when, sometimes, it is found that a person who never attended school or college may be recognized as a great scholar, or an honorary degree from great universities may be offered to him
- It is not that one should think, - I am a big scholar, and I can interpret Bhagavad-gita in my own way. All these sampradayas are useless

- It was impossible even for learned scholars to oppose Caitanya for a long time, for there was some spell in Him which touched their hearts and made them weep for their spiritual improvement
J
- Just like scholars, like Radhakrishnan, misunderstands because he has no tapasya. It requires tapasya to understand this philosophy - of Krsna consciousness
- Just like sometimes the politicians, scholars, they also try to understand Bhagavad-gita. Because Bhagavad-gita is very authoritative book, they want to exploit. They do not understand what is Bhagavad-gita
- Just try to consider this subject. Those who are actually advanced scholars, who are in knowledge, do not find any qualitative difference between you and Me
K
- Kaviraja Gosvami is very, very advanced devotee and scholar. He is not ordinary human being. He was empowered by Madana-mohana
- Krsna does not say that ordinary scholar or so-called philosopher can understand. Only the rajarsayo viduh. So Arjuna is one of the rajarsis. So he understood Krsna
- Krsna is accepted as the Supreme by all stalwart past acaryas. Just like Sankaracarya, a great stalwart scholar. He also accepts Krsna
- Krsna is admitted as the Supreme Personality of Godhead by all the bona fide acaryas. And all scholars up to date, everyone, and confirmed by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- Krsna may be taken by low-grade person as a ordinary human, as it is done sometimes. Big, big scholars, philosophers, they also become bewildered. Just like in India, there is a party called Arya-samaji. They accept Krsna as a very big person but not God
L
- Lord Caitanya appreciated the humility of this great scholar & therefore exhibited His own form, first with four hands, and then with six hands (sadbhuja). Bhattacarya then repeatedly fell down at the Lord's lotus feet and composed various prayers to Him
- Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His devotees in disciplic succession can defeat all kinds of learned scholars, scientists and philosophers in arguments, thus establishing the supremacy of the Personality of Godhead
M
- Malicious editors and scholars who attempt to misrepresent the Pancaratra-sastras to refute their regulations are most abominable
- Many men are advertised as great scholars of the Bhagavad-gita, but they overlook the Gita's message, by which material nature can be pacified
- Many other distinguished scholars even after the time of Lord Caitanya made elaborate commentaries on the Bhagavatam. And the serious student would do well to attempt to go through them to better relish the transcendental messages
- Many scholars, many so-called saintly persons, they have misinterpreted the words of Bhagavad-gita. They did not allow to speak Krsna
- Many, many philosophers, scholars, and so-called invincible heroes have tried to make the Supreme Lord impotent, formless, and impersonal, but in the end they always suffered terribly
- Mundane scholars can always discover novel meanings in Bhagavad-gita, and in this way they may certainly exhibit their mundane erudition - but this is all just the play of maya. The real essence of Bhagavad-gita cannot be transmitted through such persons
- Mundane scholarship and its concomitant attachments and detachments cannot arouse spontaneous love of Godhead. Such love cannot be described by a mundane scholar
- My dear Bhattacarya, you have certainly explained this verse by the prowess of your vast learning, but you should know that, besides this scholarly explanation, there is another purport to this verse
- My dear Lord, these common people, my neighbors, because I am minister, and I'm supposed to be educated, I know little Sanskrit, Arabian language, they call me pandita, learned man, very scholar and versed. I, to tell You frankly, I do not know what I am

- Not the big scholars and mental speculators; but a child can understand Krsna, if he has full faith in Him. So faith and devotion qualify one
O
- Of all people, why did Sri Krsna select Arjuna as a recipient of this knowledge? Arjuna was not a great scholar at all, nor was he a yogi, meditator or a holy man. He was a warrior about to engage in battle
- One aspect of Krsna's uncommon acts and attributes is presented in the scientific knowledge of the Bhagavad-gita, which is read and adored all over the world by all classes of scholars, with as many interpretations as there are empiric philosophers
- One cannot force a person to become a scholar, but sometimes force is used in the beginning. A child is forced to go to school and read and write according to the instructions of his teachers. Such is the difference between vaidhi and spontaneous bhakti
- One demoniac scholar says that it is not Krsna to whom one must surrender. This scholar is already suffering in this life, and he will have to suffer again in the next if in this life he does not complete his prescribed suffering
- One famous scholar wrote in his commentary on the Bhagavad-gita that one does not have to surrender to Lord Krsna or even accept Him as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but that one should rather surrender to - the Supreme within Krsna
- One gentleman told me that Professor Einstein, he was also reading Bhagavad-gita daily. Hitler was reading. Such, such big, big men. But I know many scholars, even Muhammadans, they also read Bhagavad-gita
- One German scholar who became a devotee of Godhead in India said that material science had already made laudable progress in duplicating the mystic powers of the yogis
- One has to understand this (although there are many transcendental forms of the Lord, they are still one and the same God) fact with conviction, although it is incomprehensible to mundane scholars and empiric philosophers. BG 1972 purports
- One may become famous as a brahma-jnani, an impersonalist scholar, or one may become a materially opulent person. In either case, such reputations are inferior to the reputation of Krsna’s devotee
- One mundane scholar came, and he approached Rupa Gosvami and said, I want to test you, if I can defeat you, then I will be renowned. So there is no question of talking, because Rupa Gosvami saw, What is the use of talking with this rascal?
- One of the sakhas, known as Devaprastha, is described as follows: he is very strong, a ready scholar, and is very expert in playing ball
- One should have the common sense to ask why, if Krsna or Rama were fictitious, stalwart scholars like Vijayadhvaja, Vallabhacarya and many other recognized acaryas would have spent so much time to write about Krsna in notes and commentaries on SB
- One should not partially study a book just to pose oneself as a great scholar by being able to refer to scriptures
- One student is becoming very quickly a scholar - another, he cannot. So this is also result of pious work. Similarly, beauty is also due to pious work. I discussed this point
- One who is able to understand can relish this exalted transcendental literature (Caitanya-caritamrta), which is actually not meant for ordinary persons like scholars and literary men
- One who is not a great scholar can understand the position of the Supreme Personality of Godhead if he somehow or other becomes a pure devotee of the Lord by engaging in devotional service
- Our books are being received by all libraries, universities, and scholarly persons, and I wish also that your institution may also order for all these books so that you can understand our point of view
- Our literature is meant for higher section, scholarly section. That section we have not yet touched - philosophers, religionists, highly intellectual public. We are meant for that, our literature
P
- People are actually confused as to what is work (karma) and what is not work (akarma). Krsna here indicates that even great scholars (kavayah) are bewildered about the nature of work
- Praising a man by saying that if he were educated he might have become a great scholar or great personality is nothing but a process of cheating. A foolish person who agrees to accept such praise does not know that such words simply insult him
- Puffed up mundane scholars have to wait for the causeless mercy of the devotee of the Lord. One should therefore cultivate Krsna consciousness with faith and knowledge, and in this way attain perfection. BG 1972 purports
R
- Rascal civilized man does not know what is next life, how death can be stopped. Nothing else. Big, big scholars of Bhagavad-gita, they do not understand. The so-called scholars, they do not understand. These things are there in the Bhagavad-gita
- Recently we have received many acclaims by prominent educators, scholars and scientists throughout the world for our books
- Reciprocation, there must be study and inquiry. Just like a nice scholar in the college, he inquires from the professor, at the same time studies. So the process of acquiring knowledge is to study and to inquire
- Research scholars as great as Brahma, Siva, Indra and many other demigods are sometimes bewildered by seeing the wonderful creative energy of the Lord, so what to speak of the tiny mundane scholars dealing in petty things
