- In Vedic literature there are recommendations for worshiping different gods for different purposes (e.g., a diseased man is recommended to worship the sun). BG 1972 purports

- One who desires to be beautiful should worship the beautiful residents of the Gandharva planet
- One who diverts his mind to worshiping many demigods to obtain material happiness is considered bereft of intelligence
- One who engages in the transcendental loving service of the Supreme Lord does not need to worship any demigod, nor does he have any tendency to show disrespect to the demigods

- The goddess is worshiped by preparing a doll made of sand from the bank of the Yamuna
