There are many branches also from the parampara system, and it is not possible to record all the branches and sub-branches in the disciplic succession. We have to pick up from the authority of the acharya in whatever sampradaya we belong to.

Hoping you are all three well, and please keep me informed.

Letter to Aniruddha -- New York 29 April, 1968:

And for our transportation and lecture they paid us $150.00; similarly, tomorrow we have got engagement at New York University at Stoney Brook, Long Island, and they are paying us $200.00 for our coming there. Letter to Gargamuni -- Allston, Mass 5 May, 1968:

You have got some infection, and I am very much anxious about your cyst pain. I do not know what is the actual position but if it is ordinary, then I think a little painting of Sloan's Liniment may reduce the painful reaction. But if it is within the skin then you have to consult some physician, but you can try by applying Sloan's Liniment, and before applying the liniment you can foment by heating some soft pad in hot water, and apply on the spot. After heating you can apply Sloan's Liniment. I hope you will be feeling better soon. Please keep me informed.

Letter to Kirtanananda -- Montreal 30 June, 1968:

We simply want favorable place for worshiping Krishna. That is our idea.

Letter to Mukunda -- San Francisco 14 September, 1968:

I hope that the money which I sent from Montreal to the Charter Bank in account of Samuel Speerstra has already been received by him. I shall be glad to hear on this point. So the $1,655.00 and further $600.00 contributed by me and Hamsaduta may be conveniently deposited in London in the branch of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. And open an account in my name. And send the passbook to me so that when I shall go to London there will be no difficulty there for me. I hope this will find you in good health, and offer my blessings to Janaki. Please keep me informed at least once in a week.

Letter to Sivananda -- San Francisco 18 September, 1968:

Krishna das has already given notice to his present employer for quitting, and he is expected to start by the next Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1968, via New York, and he will take with him mrdanga and karatala. And whatever you need, you can send a letter to Brahmananda immediately, and Brahmananda will prepare it, and Krishna das will carry it with him to Germany.

Hope you are well, and please keep me informed at least once in a week.

Letter to Gaurasundara -- Seattle 27 September, 1968:

Regarding the mrdanga: You should make a statement to the authority that they did not allow you to take it with you, and forced you to keep it with the baggage, although it was known that there was every chance of it being broken. And at last they have broken it—so they must pay $200.00 damages. Claim it, and we shall fight with these nonsense people. I do not know in future how we can take mrdanga there. Is there any marine shipping service from San Francisco or from India to there?

Please keep me informed of your activities there, and I hope this meets you in good health,

Letter to Yamuna, Mukunda, Syamasundara -- Los Angeles 8 November, 1968:

Regarding meeting Ravi Sankara or Mr. Harrison, Dayananda is trying his best to contact them, so also Nandarani is also trying, but so far there is no trace about them. I do not know how far this attempt will be successful.

So keep me informed about your activities weekly. You sent me one letter, a nice letter, from Laksmidasa, and I have replied him. Encourage him to cooperate with you. He appears to be a good boy. Keep contact with him.

Letter to Harer Nama -- Los Angeles 13 November, 1968:

Letter to Satsvarupa -- Los Angeles 14 November, 1968:

I am concerned about Jadurani's health condition—has she got any fever? If she has feverish condition, she should simply lie down and do no work.

Hope you are well, and please keep me informed of your temple affairs, as well as about Jadurani's health condition.

Letter to Aniruddha -- Los Angeles 14 November, 1968:

First of all, burning camphor or ghee (5 fires if possible) is offered in this way, slowly circling them before the Lord. With left hand bell is being rung, and with right hand the offerings are made by circling. Next burning dhupa is offered. Then water is offered in a conchshell. Then a nice handkerchief is offered. Then a nice flower, as a rose. Then the Deities are offered a fan, nice peacock feather fan. And the last item is the blowing of the conch shell three times. Throughout arati there is bell ringing, cymbals, mrdanga, gong, harmonium, etc.

Hope you are all well, and please keep me informed on the progress of the temple there.

Letter to Gurudasa -- Los Angeles 15 November, 1968:

Letter to Upendra -- Los Angeles 18 November, 1968:

You will be glad to know that we lost our Hollywood temple, but by Grace of Krishna we have got a better place at a cheaper rent already on the Melrose avenue. And we are going to occupy the same within a day or two if all goes as planned. Everything is going on nicely here, and please keep me informed with regular reports of your activities there. If you think so, Gary can be initiated by post and you can arrange it for him.

Letter to Bali-mardana -- Los Angeles 20 November, 1968:

Anyway, your temple attendance must continue. So if it is possible that you shall live with the boys at the temple, then that is very good idea, and work also with your father. Please keep me informed how you are arranging for this matter, as I will be anxious to hear.

Letter to Patita Uddharana -- Los Angeles 20 November, 1968:

Letter to Candravali -- Los Angeles 26 November, 1968:

For the time being, I think you may concentrate upon improving the temple already established in San Francisco as you have described that this temple is already short-handed. So kindly continue to work sincerely in developing your Krishna Consciousness and please keep me informed as to the progress of your translating work.

Letter to Hayagriva -- Los Angeles 30 November, 1968:

Thank you once more for your letter, and I shall be looking forward to your visits after December 13rd, and shall be very happy to see you. Please keep me informed of your activities there, and I hope you are well.

Letter to Harer Nama -- Los Angeles 1 December, 1968:

So far as explaining my letter to Kris, I have listed the ingredients which may use for preparing prasadam but these various varieties of foodstuffs may be prepared either in the given recipes or if you like you may invent nice new formulas for offering. The important thing is that your preparations be palatable for Lord Krishna and that the ingredients be within the groups of ingredients already listed. You have asked me about sassafras and yes, it may be offered. Mushrooms are generally not offered, but there is no prohibition, there is no harm in them.

I hope that this has answered your questions. Please keep me informed as to the progress of your temple. Hope you are all well.

Letter to Sivananda -- Los Angeles 4 December, 1968:

Our point is to always follow the example of the acaryas and this will bring us to the perfectional stages with no doubt. For the Christian hymn you describe, the example may be given of where one person is appreciating that water is very nice and another is tasting water. So when we taste water the appreciation automatically is there and when we have taste for chanting, automatically the appreciation is there for God.

I hope that you are well along with Krishna Das and Uttama Sloka. Please keep me informed of progress with our Hamburg center.

Letter to Annapurna -- Los Angeles 5 December, 1968:

If some concessional rate is offered then we can also try to purchase the property. So consult with your godbrothers and Gurudasa is the best man to tackle with this landlord and appeal to him to donate this house free for this great cause of spreading Krishna Consciousness. So again I thank you for your nice letter and the sentiments expressed therein and please keep me informed as to your well-being.

Letter to Madhavi Lata -- Los Angeles 28 December, 1968:

Already you have sparked some interest in some of the women there, and my request to these ladies is that they chant Hare Krishna loudly or softly, as they are able, and if they like they may order our Bhagavad-gita As It Is which can be ordered from here in Los Angeles.

Please keep me informed as to your situation with the jail. I hope you are well.

So we should not simply publish these books for reading by outsiders, but our students must be well versed in all of our books so that we can be prepared to defeat all opposing parties in the matter of self-realization.

Please keep me informed as to the progress of the prasadam program. I hope that this finds you in good health.

Letter to Gaurasundara -- Los Angeles 16 January, 1969:

So in any case, do not think that I am delaying to go to Hawaii because you cannot pay for my other assistants. I came to your country alone, and if necessary, I can go to Hawaii alone still providing there is urgency.

Please continue to keep me informed of your activities and continue to spread kirtana as far as possible. Hope you are well.

Letter to Janaki -- Los Angeles 18 January, 1969:

Regarding competition with other so-called yoga groups, certainly we have to win the race because we represent Krishna directly, and others are all mostly impersonalists or less than that. So far as I know, our Krishna Consciousness movement is the only genuine endeavor for self-realization. I have tried to explain the genesis of this movement in my book, Bhagavad-gita As It Is, and people will learn it if they will carefully study this book. In this connection, there was a radio interview this week in Los Angeles, and the summary is being sent herewith. If possible, you can try to get it printed in the Times, as they have already printed an article about ourselves. You can make the heading as follows: Genesis of the Krishna Consciousness Movement.

So please consider carefully the above mentioned points, and also keep me informed as to your all round well-being. Hope this meets you in very good health.

Letter to Brahmananda -- Los Angeles 18 January, 1969:

Bali Mardan has written to me to suggest that he begin working immediately to raise money for the book fund, but I think that first he may finish his schooling and then immediately begin working to raise money for our books.

Please keep me informed on the above points.

Letter to Cidananda -- Los Angeles 23 January, 1969:

So I am fully aware that you are working very sincerely in Krishna Consciousness, and when difficulties arise you must simply remember to continue to depend upon Krishna, and He will supply you with the intelligence to solve any problems. You have already proven yourself as a very nice servitor of Lord Caitanya and I am always praying to Him that He will allow you to advance more and more in His eternal service.

Please continue to keep me informed about the activities in your temple.

Letter to Gaurasundara -- Los Angeles 26 January, 1969:

Regarding Muralidhara, he is now working here, and he is helping to meet the huge expenditures of the Los Angeles temple. But I shall see if he cannot be spared after a few weeks. Let me see how he is doing here. If he is not very much needed, which I shall know after a few weeks, then I shall ask him to join you in Hawaii.

Please continue to keep me informed of your activities in Hawaii.

Letter to Pradyumna -- Los Angeles 26 February, 1969:

Now we have to sell Back To Godheads in large quantities. We are arranging to print 20,000 copies so you should seriously consider how to step up this program in Columbus. I am very pleased that Mr. Cline is helping you in looking for a suitable temple there. Please keep me informed of your progress in this matter.

Letter to Upendra -- Moundsville 29 May, 1969:

Another possibility is that Ananda may be called from Vancouver to help you in maintaining the church in Seattle. You may correspond with him in this connection. Or else if you feel that Vancouver may be a nicer place, then you may join Ananda there. Please keep me informed as to your progress in this connection.

Letter to Sudama -- New Vrindaban 7 June, 1969:

Letter to Damodara -- Los Angeles 16 August, 1969:

If the President comes, then we can invite many other important men, and they will also come, as well as the press representatives will come. So there will be a great assembly, and if we can convince them even a very little of our transcendental movement, it will be a great stride. So if possible, try for this arrangement seriously, and pray to Krishna. He will help you. Please keep me informed of your activities in this connection. On the whole I am so much pleased that you have opened a branch in Washington, which is the center of all elites.

Letter to Mahapurusa -- Los Angeles 17 August, 1969:

One who can reproduce the sound vibration heard from the Spiritual Master, he will be a good preacher. I hope you will keep me informed of your further progress, and I hope this will meet you in good health.

Letter to Satsvarupa -- Los Angeles 19 August, 1969:

If we have got our own press, we can earn some money by outside work when there is on pressure of our own work. So this is very important subject matter and keep me informed about the advancement of the idea.

Letter to Advaita -- Hamburg 7 September, 1969:

After our business in London is finished, most probably I shall be returning to the USA via either New York or Boston. I hope that everything is coming along nicely in setting up the press in Boston, and please keep me informed as to your progress in this connection.

Letter to Bali-mardana, Sudama -- Tittenhurst 3 October, 1969:

Japanese rice is very cheap, so if you take nice rice, dal, capatis, vegetable, and little milk, that will keep your health nice. Bali Mardan, you have asked how the Sankirtana activities become more relishable every day. It is due to Lord Caitanya's benediction. All Glories to Sri Krishna Sankirtana!!

Please offer my blessings to the others and keep me informed of your activities in Honolulu.

Letter to Cidananda -- Tittenhurst 16 October, 1969:

I passed through Vancouver while coming from Seattle to Montreal, but I never saw the city. Now I hope while we install Radha-Krishna Murtis there I may see the nice city of Vancouver. Our method of establishing a flourishing center will continue to be the same. This is standard and successful. Please keep me informed about your center.

Letter to Satsvarupa -- Tittenhurst 26 October, 1969:

Regarding your final question, you are correct that Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Karanodakasayi Visnu are not divisions of Paramatma. So you may change the words "divided into" into "is one of". I am so pleased to learn that already the press is ready to begin printing some Krsna Consciousness booklet, and please keep me informed on your progress.

Letter to Vamanadeva -- London 23 November, 1969:

Now both you and your wife are trained how to arrange for maintaining a temple and center. Please do it nicely. The beginning is sounding so hopeful that I am sure very soon your center will be one of the first class preaching places of our society. Of course not immediately, but you will have another responsibility to send me something for my maintenance as the others are sending. There is no pressure, but when you find convenient, you can also help in that way. Please keep me informed about your progressive march in St. Louis.

1970 Correspondence

Letter to Citsukhananda -- Los Angeles 12 March, 1970:

Krishna will give you timely a suitable place, don't worry about it. Our leader, Sanatana Goswami, was living underneath a tree, and He was keeping His Deity, Krishna, hanging on the branch of the tree, wrapped up in a cloth—and still He was always engaged in the service of the Lord. So place or no place, we must go on with our preaching work. Please keep me informed about your progress, and offer my blessings to all the boys.

Letter to Umapati -- Los Angeles 30 March, 1970:

It is all Krsna's grace that you have been favored with some publicity and more people are coming weekly for Kirtana. It is very much satisfactory, and I hope Krsna will help you more and more. Please keep me informed about your further progress and offer my blessings to all the boys and girls there.

Letter to Sridama -- Los Angeles 10 April, 1970:

All these newses are to me life-giving ambrosia, so the more you open branches, the more I increase my duration of life. Thanking you once more.

Letter to Mukunda -- Los Angeles 10 April, 1970:

Letter to Rupanuga -- Los Angeles 15 June, 1970:

I hope your wife is also improving by this time. According to Bhagavad-gita we have simply to tolerate all these Temporary appearances and disappearance, our main function being to make steady progress in Krsna consciousness. Please keep me informed about your progress, and oblige.

Letter to Jayapataka -- Los Angeles 10 July, 1970:

So I request my students to cooperate fully.

Regarding Bhagavad-gita, enlarged edition, the picture approved by me to Jadurani is all right. I am glad to learn that it is being serialized. Regarding Srimad-Bhagavatam, First Canto, I am glad that manuscript is also being composed. Srimad-Bhagavatam, Second Canto, improper title pages being rectified is good news. Please keep me informed about the progress of those manuscripts.

Letter to Karandhara -- Tokyo 22 August, 1970:

My Spiritual Master, Sarasvati Gosvami Thakura, may appear to be physically not present, but still because I try to serve His instruction I never feel separated from Him. I expect that all of you should follow these instructions. Hope this will meet you in good health. Please keep me informed of your good activities always and offer my blessings to all the boys and girls and the little children.

Letter to Karandhara -- Calcutta 13 September, 1970:

Yes, I am so glad that your center is doing so well and all the devotees are now appreciating the presence of their Spiritual Master by following His instructions although He is no longer physically present—this is the right spirit.

Please keep me informed of your activities regularly.

Letter to Jananivasa -- Calcutta 29 September, 1970:

All our literatures are for guiding you in your successful prosecution of Krsna Consciousness, so follow these instructions of mine implicitly and your perfection of life in Krsna's service is guaranteed and you will have the spiritual strength for attracting and training others in this bhakti cult.

Letter to Acyutananda , Kirtanananda -- Amritsar 23 October, 1970:

Please keep me informed how things are going on in Calcutta.

Letter to Govinda -- Bombay 5 November, 1970:

I hope things are going on well there. In the meantime I am enclosing one circular letter to whom it may concern and I authorize you to print them profusely and distribute to the public so that the misunderstanding created by Sai may be dissipated. Please keep me informed of your activities and I shall be glad to receive my maintenance charges regularly.

Letter to Karandhara -- Bombay 13 November, 1970:

Regarding affairs of Temple management, financial distribution, etc., it is not necessary that you keep me informed of all the details. Regarding marriages, the correct way is that you should first get the marriage sanctioned by me and then perform the ceremony with my blessings.

I shall be expecting the posters and pictures soon; they will be very useful to our propaganda work.

How is it that you owe $20,000 to Dai Nippon? Are the Temples remitting the $0.15 cost per copy of BTG to ISKCON Press for each copy they receive?

Please keep me regularly informed.

Letter to Bansidhari -- Bombay 16 November, 1970:

I am very glad that your distribution to the libraries is well received. Please get our books at least one full set in every city and college library in you neighboring areas. And if you read these literatures carefully you will realize the topmost science of Krsna Consciousness and be more inspired to spread the same to all persons as their real welfare benefit.

Please keep me informed about your activities.

Letter to Kulasekhara -- Bombay 16 November, 1970:

Please keep me informed of your movements. Hope this will meet you in good health. If there are no other qualified brahmacaris to assist Subala Maharaja, then he must create some qualified men. That is the business of a Sannyasi.

Letter to Gargamuni -- Bombay 28 November, 1970:

You also follow the regulative principles, chant 16 rounds, and keep yourself engaged in the service of the Lord. Also keep me informed occasionally about your activities.

Please keep me regularly informed of your activities.

Letter to Sudama -- Allahabad 22 January, 1971:

Letter to Gurudasa -- Nairobi 5 October, 1971:

Regarding money matters I am very glad to know that you are not using book funds and building funds any more. It is very encouraging. The bumblebee project is very nice and I am so engladdened to note your encouraging writing "I will take responsibility to make sure this centre, Mayapur Project and all of ISKCON as a whole becomes purified, and it is my wish that you are relieved of any management burdens."

So please keep me informed regularly but one thing I note is that formerly I was informed that the Calcutta function will take place from 21st October, but I have received one letter from Jayapataka Maharaja in which it is said that the function will take place from 28th October. So which one is correct? I am puzzled. Let me know definitely and the different programs.

I have instructed Yadubara Prabhu to send the transparencies and photos you have requested, and they are being sent by separate post. Please keep me informed of your progress.

1972 Correspondence

Letter to Aniruddha -- Bombay 10 January, 1972:

Rising early and mangal arati, this is enough austerity. Besides that, let them learn something, chant, dance, eat as much prasadam as they like, and do not mind if they have playful nature—let them also play and run, that is natural. It is nice if they eat often—if children overeat it doesn't matter, that is no mistake. Boys and girls should be educated separately. Please keep me informed your progress there, and if you have any further questions.

Letter to Amarendra -- Calcutta 4 March, 1972:

Letter to Bhaktijana -- Honolulu 11 May, 1972:

Letter to Giriraja -- Los Angeles 26 September, 1972:

One thing is, Bhavananda has suggested that you need more help but he was called to help you from Calcutta and coming such long distance he was also silent and then he went away. Kindly keep me informed of the progress there.
