- A ksatriya is not supposed to refuse to battle or gamble when he is so invited by some rival party. Under such obligation, Arjuna could not refuse to fight because he was challenged by the party of Duryodhana. BG 1972 purports
- A pure devotee like King Kulasekhara refuses to associate with beautiful soft-skinned women. There are different grades of women on different planets in the universe
- A pure devotee of Krsna who loves Him exclusively will flatly refuse to accept any sort of liberation, such as equality of form, opulence or abode and the opulence of living near the Lord

- If they are offered a post like Mine in My abode, or opulence like Mine, or even personal association with Me with similar bodily features, they (My devotees) refuse to accept because they are satisfied simply by being engaged in My devotional service
