A
- A chaste devotee of the Lord (Krsna) does not look to others, namely any other living being or demigod, even for deliverance from danger. That was all along the characteristic of the whole family of the Pandavas
- A devotee cares about the instructions of Krsna, not those of demons or nondevotees. He does not give any respect to a demon, even though the demon be his father
- A devotee does not accept the philosophy of Buddha but accepts him as incarnation of Lord Krsna and offers obeisances. This is our position
- A devotee does not at all desire anything for sense gratification. Devotion is explained as devoid of material desires - anyabhilasita-sunya
- A devotee does not attach much importance to the pains and trouble pertaining to the body because he knows perfectly well that he is not the material body

- A devotee is the friend not only of human society but of all living entities, for he sees all living entities as sons of Godhead. He does not claim himself to be the only son of God and allow all others to be killed, thinking that they have no soul
- A devotee like Maharaja Pariksit does not care a fig for the moon or, for that matter, any of the material planets
- A devotee minimizes or eliminates sex. He does not indulge indiscriminately in sex, begetting offspring as the cats and dogs do

- An impersonalist thinks that his actual identity is in being one with Krsna, but a devotee does not destroy his identity in this way. He lives with full faith that Krsna will kindly protect him in all respects
- Arjuna, a personal friend of Krsna, he was in difficulty - there was a fight between him and his brothers. So this world is full of difficulties. But the devotee, when he's in difficulty, he does not express it
- Arjuna, as a devotee, does not depend on his speculative strength; rather, he admits his limitations as a living entity and acknowledges Krsna's inestimable position. BG 1972 purports
- As stated in Bhagavad-gita (BG 4.9), after giving up his body, a devotee does not again receive a material body, but goes back to Godhead and receives a spiritual body resembling those of the Lord's eternal associates whose activities he followed

- Baliyasa, means "offering the results of all activities to the Supreme Personality of Godhead." A devotee does not act on his personal account for sense gratification
- Because of following Krsna very swiftly, her (Yasoda's) hair became loose, and the flowers in her hair were falling after her. Yet she did not fail to capture her son Krsna - SB 10.9.10
- Because the devotee knows Vasudeva, he knows everything within the creation of Vasudeva (vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma sudurlabhah). Such a devotee does not give much value to the highest standard of happiness within this material world
- Being protected by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, a devotee is always powerful, but a devotee does not wish to show his power unnecessarily
- Being situated in his original Krsna conscious position, a pure devotee does not identify with the body. Such a devotee should not be seen from a materialistic point of view
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura says, Bahir-mukha-brahma-janma nahi mora asa - And if I become nondevotee and take my birth as Lord Brahma, I don't want it. Let me become an insect in the house of a devotee
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura says, brahma-janme nahi mora asa: "I do not desire even to take birth as Lord Brahma." Because that is not pure bhakti
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura says: If I forget You & take my birth as Lord Brahma, I don't want it. I don't want it - What is the use of taking a birth like Brahma? - But I shall like to take my birth as even a small insignificant insect where a devotee is there

- Caitanya continues, "This is the natural result of intense love of Godhead. The devotee does not consider personal inconveniences or impediments. In all circumstances he wants to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead"
- Constructing a big building requires great energy, and a devotee does not take to such business if it does not benefit him by advancing his devotional service. BG 1972 purports

- Devotee does not require anything. Why it shall be? Krsna gives him all protection
- Devotee's business is to glorify. He doesn't take any credit for himself. Actually, there is nothing to be taken credit. The all credit goes to Krsna
- Devotees are generally attracted by the narratives of the pastimes of the Lord, and even though they do not prosecute austerities or meditation

- Devotees do not identify with the body, so offering respect to a Vaisnava means offering respect to Visnu. As a matter of etiquette as soon as one sees a Vaisnava one must immediately offer him respect, indicating the Supersoul sitting within
- Devotees do not offer prayers to the Lord in an imaginary form. The existence of the Lord's form is supported by all Vedic literature
- Devotees do not suffer from skin disease, black or white or brown or red or whatever. In the material world black and white are opposites, but spiritually black and white are varieties. That is the proper vision
- Devotees do not want any such miracles to perform or to make some jugglery to the people
- Don't make any plan. Accept Krsna's plan. That will be simply giving trouble to Krsna. Therefore, a devotee does not pray even for his maintenance. That is pure devotee. He doesn't give trouble to Krsna even for his bare maintenance

- Each and every soul is part and parcel of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he (the devotee) does not see any difference. That is the vision of a learned devotee
- Even after liberation, the devotees do not lose their individual identities. BG 1972 purports
- Even if a devotee does not complete the course of devotional service, he enjoys the happiness of the heavenly planets, where the most pious people dwell, and then takes birth in the house of a suci or sriman, a pious brahmana or a wealthy vaisya
- Even if the devotees see the mischief-mongers, they do not accuse them for the sufferings inflicted
- Everyone will be pleased with him because the Personality of Godhead, the supreme controller of the universe, is always satisfied with a devotee who does not wish for anything beyond Him
- Examining the life of Prahlada Maharaja, we can see how severely he was harassed by his own father, Hiranyakasipu, yet he did not divert his attention from the Lord even to the smallest extent

- For a pure devotee who does not practice yoga, the mind should always be engaged in Krsna consciousness so that at death he can remember the Supreme by His grace. This is explained in verse fourteen (of BG). BG 1972 purports
- For the pure devotee of the Lord there is nothing beyond the lotus feet of the Lord, and the Lord knows that such devotees do not wish anything more than that. The word tu specifically establishes this fact
H
- He (a devotee) does not demand anything from God for his own personal elevation or comfort
- He (a devotee) does not endeavor much to achieve something with great difficulty; therefore he is always joyful. BG 1972 purports
- He (a devotee) does not extraneously endeavor to acquire these qualifications, but engagement in Krsna consciousness and devotional service automatically helps him develop them. BG 1972 purports
- He (a devotee) does not identify with the body; therefore he is freed from the conception of false ego and is equiposed both in happiness and distress. BG 1972 purports
- He (a devotee) doesn't regard danger as danger. Rather, he thinks, "It is Krsna's mercy." What kind of mercy
- He (a devotee) may construct a temple for the Lord, and for that he may take all kinds of anxiety, but he does not construct a big house for his personal relations. BG 1972 purports
- He (devotees of God) is fixed in devotional service, a devotee does not regard any position in the material world as important
- He (the devotee of God) does not want promotion to the heavenly planets or mukti, liberation from material bondage. If this were the case, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu would not have said, mama janmani janmani
- He (the devotee) has no business mixing with others, for although he does not see anyone as his enemy, his dealings are only with persons who engage in devotional service
I
- I don't take shelter of hell or heaven. I take shelter of Krsna. - A devotee does not discriminate what is hell or what is heaven. One who is narayana-parah, devotee, he doesn't care for what is hell or heaven
- If a devotee does not do any of the above-mentioned three processes, he falls down from his position of devotion
- If the devotee can be engaged twenty-four hours each day in devotional service they do not want anything else, not even the happiness of liberation or of becoming one with the Supreme
- If the devotee does not engage himself always in hearing and chanting the topics of Krsna and His activities but instead indulges in idle talk, there is every chance of his falling down
- Impersonalists prefer to merge into the existence of the Transcendence, but the personalists, or devotees, do not annihilate their individuality, & thus the devotees of God individually enjoy spiritual variegatedness on the planets of the spiritual sky

- In the advanced stage of devotional service, the devotee does not see anything separate between his own interests and those of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- In the stage of kevala (unalloyed devotion) a devotee does not consider the unlimited opulence of Krsna, even though he experiences it. He takes seriously only his own relationship with Krsna
- Intelligent devotee, they do not ask like the unintelligent devotee go to the church and pray to God, "Give us our daily bread." He's God's servant, and He will not get your bread? You have to ask from God? No
- It is better to be God's father, God's controller. This is bhakti-marga, the path of devotional service. A devotee does not want to be equal to God or one with God. He simply wants to render service
- "It is the nature of highly elevated devotees to see Krsna in everything," Lord Caitanya replied. "Whenever they see anything, they do not see the form of that particular thing. They see Krsna." This is confirmed in Srimad-Bhagavatam - SB 11.2.45

- Krsnadasa Kaviraja lists the following twenty-six good qualities of a Vaisnava: (1) He is very kind to everyone. (2) He does not make anyone his enemy. (3) He is truthful. (4) He is equal to everyone. (5) No one can find any fault in him

- Many people unnecessarily talk of the daily happenings in the newspapers and pass the time without any profit. A devotee, however, does not indulge in unnecessary talks of politics or economics
- Material advancement in religion, economic development, sense gratification and liberation simply wait to serve a devotee at the first opportunity. A devotee is already in a transcendental position; he does not need further qualifications to be liberated
- Mayavadis and atheists accept the forms of the Deities in the temple of the Lord as idols, but devotees do not worship idols. They directly worship the Personality of Godhead in His arca incarnation
- My dear Lord, he (Dhruva Maharaja) said, "I am fully satisfied. I do not ask for any benediction for material sense gratification"
- My devotees do not accept salokya, sarsti, sarupya, samipya or oneness with Me - even if I offer these liberations - in preference to serving Me

- Nirmama means that a devotee does not attach much importance to the peace and trouble pertaining to the body because he knows perfectly well that he is not the material body. BG 1972 purports
- Nor does he (a devotee of God) have to ask the demigods for material benedictions, for the demigods, being pleased with the devotee, automatically offer him everything that he needs

- O best of the intelligent demigods, although it is true that nothing is difficult for one to obtain when I am pleased with him, a pure devotee, whose mind is exclusively fixed upon Me, does not ask Me for anything but the opportunity to engage in DS
- Of course, he should not be foolish, that "God is giving me everything without asking, so why should I bother God, asking?" That is advanced devotion. Therefore pure devotee, they do not ask anything from God. They simply want to give service
- One who is pure devotee, he does not pray to God for any personal interest. Even if he is distressed, he says, "O Lord, it is Your kindness. You have put me in distress just to rectify me"

- Seeing, tasting, smelling, touching, and hearing are all instruments for experience and knowledge. Why do we put such exclusive stress on seeing? A devotee does not wish to see Krsna; he is satisfied by simply hearing of Krsna
- Serious interest in the welfare of the public makes one a bona fide acarya. An acarya does not exploit his followers. Since the acarya is a confidential servitor of the Lord, his heart is always full of compassion for humanity in its suffering
- Since time immemorial or since the creation of the cosmic manifestation, the conditioned souls have formed various parties of philosophical speculation, but this is not true of the devotees
- Small child, he doesn't require to earn money for spending. If he's rich man's son, his father will take care of him. Similarly, a devotee does not endeavor to become expert in jnana-yoga, dhyana-yoga, hatha-yoga, this yoga. He depends on Krsna
- Sometimes a Vaisnava who is a bhajananandi does not take the savitra-samskara (sacred thread initiation), but this does not mean that this system should be used for preaching work
- Sometimes it appears that the devotee is put into some difficulty unreasonably, but the devotee does not take even this adverse circumstance as other that a manifestation of the Lord's Supreme Mercy
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu never considered the holy name of the Lord to be a material vibration, nor does any pure devotee mistake the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra to be a material musical manifestation

- That is the sign of devotee: appreciation (of) the activities of devotee. This appreciation means a devotee who is actually freed from all contamination, he does not find any fault with other devotee
- The (God's) name is there, but he (Lord Jesus Christ) did not pronounce it, because the people at that time will not be able to understand, or maybe some reason
- The attention of a pure devotee is so much attracted to glorification of the pastimes, name, qualities, forms, etc., of the Lord that the devotee does not care for mukti
- The devotee does not desire any achievement other than pleasing the SP of Godhead. His life's mission is to please Krsna, and he can sacrifice everything for Krsna's satisfaction, just as Arjuna did in the Battle of Kuruksetra. BG 1972 purports

- The Mayavadis' accusation that devotees do not study Vedanta is false. The Mayavadis do not know that chanting, dancing and preaching the principles of Srimad-Bhagavatam, called bhagavata-dharma, are the same as studying Vedanta
- The modern theory that starvation is due to an increase in population is not accepted by the demigods or the devotees of the Lord
- The perfect devotee does not see the material world as it appears to material eyes, for he sees everywhere the presence of his worshipable Lord in His Paramatma feature
