- If one is determined that, "I shall only act according to the advice of my Guru Maharaja," then he's perfect. One has to submit like Arjuna said, sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam (BG 2.7). Otherwise he'll argue
- If one is determined to get out of all the designations that are attached to the pure spirit soul, and which arise due to the body and are always changed when the body is changed, one can attain to bhakti
- If one is determined to make spiritual advancement, he will not beget a child unless able to make that child a devotee
- If one is determined to stay, things could be adjusted to live together in Krsna Conscious cooperation
- If one is devoid of Krsna consciousness, he is sure to commit mischief in this material world
- If one is disturbed in his conditional life, he becomes more and more entangled in material contamination
- If one is eager to attain the highest understanding, he must begin with an inquiry into the differences between copper and bronze, then silver and gold and so on
- If one is empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead to do something, the core of his heart becomes a dhama, and thus he becomes so extraordinarily powerful that not only his enemies but also people in general are astonished to observe his activities
- If one is engaged full time in the service of the Lord, under my direction, that is my personal service
- If one is engaged in bhakti-yoga practice, devotional service, immediately the anarthas will be diminished
- If one is engaged in brahminical service or occupational duties, he must be considered a brahmana despite the family in which he is born. That is the verdict of all the sastras
- If one is engaged in chanting and hearing with devotion and faith, his material misgivings gradually become vanquished
- If one is engaged in devotional service he becomes unattached to all kinds of material enjoyment and suffering
- If one is engaged in hearing the glories of the Lord, gradually he realizes his real position
- If one is engaged in his cultivation of spiritual life, then he should tolerate all these bodily pains and pleasure, because they come and go
- If one is engaged in his own occupational duty as ordered by the SL, his sinful activities are certainly diminished. Therefore if one is engaged in his occupational duty by force, he benefits because he can vanquish all his sinful activities in that way
- If one is engaged in pure transcendental loving service to the Lord, it is understood that he has already achieved the five kinds of liberation
- If one is engaged in the transcendental loving service to Vasudeva, then automatically the stage of Brahman realization automatically becomes revealed. So this ceremony is just according to the strict principles of Vaisnava smrti
- If one is engaged in these family affairs only, sexual affairs, he's not a gosvami
- If one is engaged in worshiping the Deity, cleansing the temple, decorating the Deity, cooking for the Deity, and so on, one's senses are already engaged in the service of the Absolute Truth, so where is the chance of their being diverted
- If one is engaged simply in the acts of devotional service, everything is revealed to him automatically, and he can understand. This is called prakasah, directly perceived. BG 1972 purports
- If one is envious of Krsna, how can he understand the Vedanta-sutra or Srimad-Bhagavatam? The Mayavadis’ primary occupation is to offend the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna
- If one is even advised to give up meat-eating, drinking, gambling and illicit sex, one will fail to do so. What, then, would a person do if he went to the Himalayas or Kulacala? Such acts of renunciation are not possible in this age
- If one is exhibiting the symptoms & qualities of a brahmana, ksatriya or vaisya & serving in a brahminical, ksatriya or vaisya occupation, even if he is not born a brahmana, ksatriya or vaisya he should be considered such according to his qualifications
- If one is expert and follows the acarya, he can understand that he is the spiritual soul living within the body
- If one is expert in hearing and hears from the right source, his knowledge is immediately perfect. This process is called srauta-pantha, or the acquisition of knowledge by hearing from authorities
- If one is expert in the study of the Vedas but does not surrender to a spiritual master or Visnu, all his cultivation of knowledge is but a waste of time and labor
- If one is factually engaged in the service of the Lord, bhakti-yoga, he will automatically control his senses, his tongue and so many other things. Once engaged in the bhakti-yoga process with all sincerity, one will have no chance of falling down
- If one is factually situated in the occupation of a brahmana, he must be considered a brahmana, even if born in a ksatriya or vaisya family
- If one is fallen from devotional service, he is offered again the opportunity to take birth in the human society. And not only ordinary human being, but devotee, very cleansed
- If one is favored by the Supreme Personality of Godhead by having his gross body touched by the Lord, his body turns into a spiritual body, and he can go back home, back to Godhead
- If one is fixed in devotional service at the lotus feet of the Lord, he is not agitated, for he is introspective. He does not look outside to material nature, but he looks in to the spiritual nature of his existence
- If one is fixed in devotional service, he realizes his own self without false identification with matter and without affection for material possessions
- If one is fortunate enough to be attracted by His (Lord Caitanya's) features, one is sure to be successful in one's life mission
- If one is fortunate enough to beg from the Lord this Hare Krsna maha-mantra, his life is successful
- If one is fortunate enough to come to the point of bhakti-yoga, it is to be understood that he has surpassed all the other yogas. Therefore, to become Krsna conscious is the highest stage of yoga. BG 1972 purports
- If one is fortunate enough to come to the point of bhakti-yoga, Krsna consciousness, it is to be understood that he has surpassed all the other yoga systems
- If one is fortunate enough to get the association of a pure devotee, he can easily surpass all the practices for controlling the mind by the mystic yoga process simply by following the regulative principles of Krsna consciousness
- If one is fortunate enough to get the association of a spiritual master like Kapila Muni or His representative, then by his grace one can be delivered from the mire of ignorance
- If one is fortunate enough to have a good, conscientious wife, he can decide by mutual consultation that human life is meant for advancing in Krsna consciousness and not for begetting a large number of children
- If one is fortunate enough to possess transcendental knowledge as well as the money with which to perform sacrifices, one must do it according to the directions given in the sastras
- If one is fortunate enough to take shelter of a pure devotee, hear from him about self-realization and follow in his footsteps, he will be gradually elevated to the position of a pure devotee. BG 1972 purports
- If one is fortunate enough to transcend all this so-called goodness and badness and come to the platform of devotional service by the mercy of Krsna and the guru, his life becomes successful
- If one is fortunate enough to transcend the designation of birth in a particular society or community by being elevated to the standard of spiritual identity, then his sva-dharma, or duty, is solely that of serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- If one is fortunate enough to understand his relationship with God, knowing that God is great (vibhu) whereas the living entity is small (anu), he is perfect in knowledge
- If one is fortunate enough to understand the happiness and distress of the spirit soul and gets a taste for transcendental knowledge, then he will be indifferent to the happiness and distress of the body and mind and will relish a transcendental peace
- If one is fortunate to understand the Gita-especially these middle six chapters (Six to Twelve) in the association of devotees, then his life at once becomes glorified beyond all penances, sacrifices, charities, speculations, etc. BG 1972 purports
- If one is fortunate, then he comes in contact with a devotee. This Krsna consciousness movement is meant for giving this opportunity to everyone
- If one is giving very important service, then even there is some faulty thing, excuse. Service is so important. So in the Western countries the woman can give very good service
- If one is godless, then however qualified he may be from the material point of view, he is useless
- If one is habituated to taking the prasada of Lord Visnu, there is no chance of his becoming a ghost or anything lower than a human being
- If one is highly qualified but is not a Vaisnava, he cannot be accepted as a guru. One cannot be a brahmana unless one is a Vaisnava. If one is a Vaisnava, he is already a brahmana
- If one is himself deaf, he'll think others are deaf. So atmavat manyate jagat, everyone thinks the whole world is like him. Therefore they think Krsna also like him
- If one is hurt by the arrows of an enemy, one is not as aggrieved as when cut by the unkind words of a relative, for such grief continues to rend one's heart day and night
- If one is ignorant how he is changing his different phases of life, what is his next life, what he was in the past life . . . how one can know? Sastra-caksusat. One can know from the scriptures, from the authorized books, as you know so many things
- If one is in contact with a pure devotee of the Lord, it should be understood, if he follows his instruction, then it is sure and certain that he is going to Krsna without any fail
- If one is in full Krsna consciousness and if his life is devoted to His transcendental service, he is perfect. BG 1972 purports
- If one is in full Krsna consciousness, he can make his home very happy, because this process of Krsna consciousness is very easy
- If one is in good association he can develop the mode of goodness, and if in bad association he may develop the mode of darkness or ignorance. Nothing is stereotyped. One can change his habit by good or bad association
- If one is inclined to dictate that the Lord grant something, one receives benedictions according to his desires
- If one is infected by rajo-guna and tamo-guna, he may remain in this world or go down to the animal kingdom. But all of these situations are hindrances on the path of spiritual salvation
- If one is infected with the desire for material enjoyment or material liberation, he cannot rise to the platform of pure loving service unto the Lord, even though he may render devotional service according to the routine regulative principles
- If one is infested with the ten offenses in the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, despite his endeavor to chant the holy name for many births, he will not get the love of Godhead that is the ultimate goal of this chanting
- If one is initiated by a proper person, he can be accepted as twice-born immediately. In our Krsna consciousness movement, we therefore offer the student his first initiation and allow him to chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra
- If one is inspired to take to Krsna consciousness and if one practices the process in his life, he is surely successful in returning home, back to Godhead
- If one is intent on enjoying material facilities, one can transfer himself to other planets in the material sky by utilizing yogic powers. The playful spaceships of the astronauts are but childish entertainments and are of no use for this purpose
- If one is interested in advancing in chanting Hare Krsna, Caitanya Mahaprabhu advises that one be humbler than the grass and more tolerant than the trees
- If one is interested to understand God, then he must take all these items (sravanam kirtanam visnoh, smaranam pada-sevanam, arcanam vandanam dasyam, sakhyam atma-nivedanam) or some of them or at least one of them
- If one is interested to understand things which is beyond this darkness, he requires a guru. To keep guru is not a fashion, just like you keep a dog or a cat as a fashion. So things should not be done like that
- If one is isvara, he must be present in everyone's heart. Krsna is present in everyone's heart (sarvasya caham hrdi sannivistah (BG 15.15)). All this should be scrutinizingly studied
- If one is Krsna conscious, he conquers death. After leaving the material body, he does not accept another body that is material but returns home, back to Godhead. This is verified by Bhagavad-gita
- If one is Krsna conscious, there is no chance of his associating with the three modes of material nature, and when one is conscious of Krsna, one's spiritual nature is automatically invoked. That is the secret
- If one is limited by some formulas only, he is described as an animal which is bound up by the chain of the master and cannot move beyond the length of the chain. So we are concerned with persons who are not chained by anything
- If one is lover of God, then he is lover of everyone because he knows everyone is part and parcel of God
- If one is materially well equipped it is welcome but devotional service does not depend on material qualifications
- If one is more intelligent one may offer prayers, and if one is expert and has been trained by a spiritual master one may perform appropriate worship
- If one is neglectful, does not like this proposal (Sarva-dharman parityajya), then what is result? "He'll never get Me." Then he will have to continue this process, mrtyu-samsara vartmani. He'll take birth, again die, again take birth, again die
- One's mind is not purified, however, even in Vrndavana, if one is agitated by lusty desires
- If one is not Krsna conscious, all these rascaldom becomes charming. When one is Krsna conscious these things are not appeal
- If one is overcome by knowledge of the Lord's opulence, he cannot attain the Lord's lotus feet, even though he is engaged in devotional service
- If one is perfect in his inquiry from the authorized spiritual master, he can write things. Otherwise, what is the use of writing nonsense? Those books will be thrown away. After reading..., just like the newspaper thrown away
- If one is performing one's material duties very perfectly, then what is gain there? He's simply wasting time. And a devotee, even by sentiment or whimsically comes in this center and gives some service, that is a permanent record
- If one is placed in material opulence due to the special mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he should not consider that opulence a cause for bondage
- If one is president or king, it should be understood that this opportunity has been given to him by the Supreme Lord
- If one is pressured by the law or obligations to give up sinful activity, one cannot do so. However, if one takes to Krsna consciousness, he can very easily give up all sinful activity. This is confirmed herein - CC Madhya 22.142
- If one is properly regulated he makes further progress, after liberation, to engage in the service of Radha and Krsna. This is the success of life: to stop the process of repeated birth and death and go back home, back to Godhead - mam eti
- If one is puffed up with false prestige, thinking - I have so much opulence, and I am giving something to Krsna - one's offering will not be accepted by Krsna
- If one is pure devotee, then Krsna, from within, He will give knowledge. The Krsna . . . just like Krsna is giving knowledge to Arjuna. He's a grhastha. He's a soldier. He's not even a brahmin
- If one is pure devotee, then Krsna, from within, He will give knowledge. The Krsna... Just like Krsna is giving knowledge to Arjuna. He's a grhastha. He's a soldier. He's not even a brahmana. But who can be greater man of knowledge than Arjuna?
- If one is purified by following Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's orders - that is, by chanting the holy name of Krsna - one must certainly be eager to render service to the Lord. This is the test
- If one is regularly discharging devotional service, there will be no question of a falldown. But even if circumstantially there is some falldown, the Vaisnava need have nothing to do with the prayascitta, the ritualistic ceremony for purification
- If one is related to the Lord in fear and animosity, he also becomes purified by the spiritual attraction of the Lord
- If one is satisfied to remain a sudra, he must suffer as described in this verse (SB 5.26.23): tad evatibibhatsitam asnanti

- If one is serious about going back home, back to Godhead, he must consider the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead the summum bonum and chief aim of life
- If one is serious about liberation from material bondage, one has to understand the distinctions between action, inaction and unauthorized actions. BG 1972 purports
- If one is serious about liberation, he not only should execute the occupational duties of varnasrama-dharma but should also engage in bhakti-yoga by beginning hearing from a realized soul. This process will help the devotee conquer the unconquerable Lord
- If one is serious about understanding God, he should not think, "I am Christian," "I am Hindu," or "I am Muslim." If one is serious about understanding love of God, he should consider which process is practical
- If one is serious about understanding the Supreme, one must receive enlightenment from Him, as instructed in Bhagavad-gita. One cannot understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead by one's mental, physical or intellectual powers
- If one is serious about understanding the value of life, the goal of life, he should approach a guru. Tasmad gurum prapadyeta (SB 11.3.21). Prapadyeta. Prapadyeta means to surrender. Not that guru should be approached for challenging. No
- If one is serious and sincerely follows the regulative principles and chants Hare Krsna, the time will come when the symptoms will appear. Tears will fill his eyes, he will be unable to chant the mahamantra distinctly, and his heart will throb in ecstasy
- If one is serious in accepting a religious life, or the path of salvation, he must adhere to the four basic rules and regulations
- If one is serious to understand the Vedic knowledge, then Krsna gives the required intelligence. Why does He present the Vedic knowledge for understanding? Because a living entity individually needs to understand Krsna. BG 1972 purports
- If one is serious, Krsna is satisfied: "Now he's serious about finding out, about knowing Me." Then Krsna gives him direction that "Here is guru, My representative. You take shelter of him and you will get Me"
- If one is simply sticking to worship Krsna, that is called ananya-bhak. Not that - I am worshiping Krsna sometimes, sometimes worshiping this, sometimes that
- If one is simply sticking up to the system without seeing "How much progress I am making in my life?" then that is waste of time. That is called niyamagraha, simply observing the rules
- If one is simply unflinching faithful devotee of the Lord, then he develops all the good qualification of demigods
- If one is sincere and devoted to the activities of devotional service, the Lord gives him a chance to make progress and ultimately attain to Him. BG 1972 purports
- If one is sincere, he is initiated, and this stage is called bhajana-kriya
- If one is sincere, he will take advantage of guru's mercy and Krsna's mercy, and then he will be perfect. This is called bhakti-yoga. Not that "I am now very much advanced. I don't require any help from my guru," as somebody are doing. This is rascaldom
- If one is sincerely eager to chant the Hare Krsna mantra or diksa-mantra, one is qualified to be initiated according to the pancaratrika process
- If one is sincerely in Krsna consciousness, all the good qualifications will come, automatically. Therefore we give more stress on KC
- If one is situated in Krsna consciousness, in the greatest calamity of this world, he'll not be disturbed. This is the greatest profit
- If one is slightly favored by the mercy of the Lord, if the Lord is pleased, one can understand Him. But who are the candidates eligible to receive the mercy of the Lord? Only the devotees. They alone can understand what is the SPG
- If one is so absorbed in the rendering of service, he can be understood to be elevated to the highest position of bhakti. By such transcendental loving service alone can one surpass the influence of maya and relish pure love of Godhead
- If one is so expert that he can engage everything or dovetail everything in the service of the Lord, to give up the material world would be a great blunder
- If one is so hungry that he could devour one pound of foodstuffs, then instead he should consume only half a pound and supplement this with four ounces of water; one fourth of the stomach should be left empty for passage of air in the stomach
- If one is somehow or other able to understand Krsna, his life is successful
- If one is somewhat interested in spiritual life, the devotees of the Lord protect him in many ways
- If one is speculator, he will be on the material field. Asata. Asato ma sad gamaya. "Don't remain in the asat. Come to the reality." That reality begins from the tongue
- If one is spiritually advanced, being a staunch, liberal devotee of the Lord, all good qualities are manifest in his body
- If one is staunchly devoted to Krsna, he is sadhu
- If one is still attached to all these habits (illicit sex, intoxication, meat-eating and gambling), he should know that he is not making progress. When one is actually advanced in bhajana-kriya, all these anarthas (unwanted things) will be finished
- If one is stone-hearted, then Krsna will stand as stone forever. But if one is soften-hearted by chanting Hare Krsna mantra, then he'll talk with Krsna. That is the difference
- If one is struggling in the ocean, he must swim through it alone. Although many other men and aquatics are swimming in the ocean, he must take care of himself because no one else will help him
- If one is struggling in this life how to accumulate money, that means rajo-guna
- If one is successful in following the regulations and comes to the transcendental position, he begins to drink real nectar, and he enjoys life. BG 1972 purports
- If one is suffering from certain type of disease, goes to a doctor, gets some medicine, it is cured for the time being, again if he's attacked and goes to the doctor, again he gives medicine, what is the use of this business? That is intelligent question
- If one is suffering, that is his own fault. Just like in the hospital you'll go, you'll find so many patients are starving. Does it mean the patients are starving for want of food? No. He must starve; otherwise he will not be cured. That is destiny
- If one is the spiritual leader or political leader or brahmana, he must give up four principles of sinful life: illicit sex life, intoxication, gambling and meat-eating, fish-eating
- If one is thoroughly trained in household life, he finds all facilities for human life-eating, sleeping, mating and defending. Everything is there if it is executed according to regulative principles
- If one is thus constantly engaged during his lifetime, after giving up the body he will return back to Godhead to serve Sri Radha in the same way as he contemplated during his life on the banks of Radha-kunda
- If one is thus engaged in the loving service of the Lord, one's life is successful
- If one is to derive actual perfection from his process, he must take to the devotional service of Krsna
- If one is too materialistic but at the same time wants to be a servant of the Supreme Lord, the Lord, because of His supreme compassion for the devotee, takes away all his material opulences and obliges him to be a pure devotee of the Lord
- If one is trained only according to the bodily conception of life, he simply leads a disappointed life because bodily sense enjoyment finishes within forty years or so
- If one is trained to honor and worship the cows and brahmanas, he is actually civilized. The worship of the Supreme Lord is recommended, and the Lord is very fond of the cows and brahmanas
- If one is trained to protect his semen by observing celibacy, naturally he is not attracted by the beauty of a woman. If one can remain a brahmacari, he saves himself so much trouble in material existence
- If one is trained to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, who is the origin of visnu-tattva, one can become fully satisfied and perfect in all respects
- If one is trained up to indulge in sex only for begetting nice children, there is already contraceptive method. There is no necessity of unnecessarily producing cats and dogs children. So that requires training, determination
- If one is transcendentally absorbed in Krsna's service, then his next body will be transcendental (spiritual), not material
- If one is transcendentally absorbed in Krsna's service, then his next body will be transcendental (spiritual), not physical. BG 1972 purports
- If one is unable to complete the process of bhakti-yoga, he is given a chance in his next life to take birth in a pure family of devotees or in a rich family. In such families a person can have a good opportunity to further progress in devotional service
- If one is unable to give up the activities of his selfish nature, then jnana and yoga are of no avail. The real aim is for a living entity to give up all selfish satisfaction and to be prepared to satisfy the Supreme. BG 1972 purports
- If one is unable to see the Supreme Lord although He is present as Krsna in His various incarnations, one may see the Supreme Lord's impersonal feature, according to the direction of the Vedas, by seeing the activities of material nature
- If one is unable to take immediately spiritual activity, he is allowed to marry. The married life is regulated sex life. Then, after fiftieth year, one has to give up this
- If one is unable to take to the process of Krsna consciousness from the very beginning of life, he must be trained to accept these principles at the fag end of life
- If one is under the bodily conception, he is unable to realize his true identity and engage in the loving devotional service of the Lord
- If one is under the protection of a devotee and sincerely renders service unto him, by this process of bhakti-yoga one is certainly able to counteract all sinful reactions
- If one is under this consciousness that "I am eternal. Why I am changing body? How to solve it?" that is intelligence. And not to work like cats and dogs and die. That is not intelligence
- If one is very expert, he can understand by seeing the face what kind of man he is
- If one is very greedy to enhance his Krsna consciousness, this is a great boon. Tatra laulyam ekalam mulam. This is the best path available
- If one is very highly advanced in devotional service, he will have no difficulty in seeing the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- If one is very much proud and challenges the authority of the Supreme, that is asat; that is not sat
- If one is very much proud of his material position, putting him into poverty is the best way to rectify his foolishness
- If one is very rich, very powerful, very wise, very beautiful he is called opulent, similarly, there are six kinds of opulences. When all these six kinds of opulences are possessed by somebody, He is called Bhagavan, or God
- If one is very serious about liberation, he must stick to the process of transcendental loving service, engaging twenty-four hours a day in the highest stage of ecstasy, and he must certainly be aloof from all activities of sense gratification
- If one is victorious on the battlefield, he becomes famous; and if one is not victorious but is defeated, he may die
- If one is woman-hunter and drunkard and meat-eater, oh, his social position is very nice, up-to-date. This is modern civilization
- If one was born in a brahmana family and has acquired the brahminical qualifications, he is to be accepted as a brahmana; otherwise, he should be considered a brahma-bandhu
- If somebody questions how the most degraded of the human society be more than a Brahmin? That is confirmed in Vedic language that it does not matter if one is born of low grade family or chandalas, if he is a devotee of the Lord, he is first class man
- If someone blasphemes a Vaisnava, one should stop him with arguments and higher reason. If one is not expert enough to do this he should give up his life on the spot, and if he cannot do this, he must go away
- If we follow the rules and regulations, gradually the mind will come under control. There are so many don'ts and so many dos, and if one is serious about training the mind, he has to follow them
- If you do not gather intelligent men, then what is the use of gathering men? "If there is one moon, that is sufficient. What is the use of millions of stars?" If one is perfect Vaisnava, that is sufficient
- If you dress a dog very nicely, does it mean that he becomes a human being? A dressed dog, that's all. Dog dancing. So sastra says that if one is still in the bodily concepts of life, then he's no better than animal
- In Calcutta during the 1947 Hindu-Muslim riots, there was more suffering because everyone was thinking, "I am a Hindu" or "I am a Muslim." But, if one is advanced in Krsna consciousness, he will not fight according to such conceptions
- In human society, however, if one is satisfied with his material father and mother and their instructions and does not make further progress by accepting a spiritual master and being educated in the sastras, he certainly remains in darkness

- In other words, if one is elevated to the mode of goodness, he is elevated to a higher planetary system, where the duration of life is very great
- In other words, one should not bother about his personal or family maintenance or sustenance. If one is actually surrendered in body and soul, he should always remember that his only concern is to be engaged in the service of the Lord
- In our country, in India, if one is attacked with syphilis, then he is taken as very abominable. His character is not good, it is understood
- In Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 7.13.8) it is said, granthan naivabhyased bahun na vyakhyam upayunjita - One should not read many books, nor should one try to make a profession of reciting many books, especially if one is a devotee
- In the beginning we should not give up chanting, even there is offenses, because by chanting, we shall be purified. So if one is able to chant Hare Krsna mantra without any offenses, he becomes immediately liberated
- In the book Nama-kaumudi it is recommended that if one is an offender of a Vaisnava, he should submit to that Vaisnava and be excused; if one is an offender in chanting the holy name, he should submit to the holy name and thus be freed from his offenses
- In the discharge of devotional service, an offense to the feet of a pure devotee can create havoc. Thus one has to defend the plant of bhakti by tending it properly and taking care not to commit offenses. If one is cautious, the plant can properly thrive
- In the Eleventh Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam (SB 11.20.31), the Lord Himself says that there is no necessity to cultivate speculative knowledge and renunciation if one is actually engaged in the devotional service of the Lord

- King Rahugana tried to engage Jada Bharata in carrying the palanquin, which is a form of sense gratification for the King. However, if one is engaged as a palanquin carrier in the Lord's service, that is certainly beneficial

- Lord Brahma said to Lord Krsna the Supreme Personality of Godhead: My Lord, if one is favored by even a slight trace of the mercy of Your lotus feet, he can understand the greatness of Your personality
- Lord Caitanya actually took the subordinate position before Ramananda Raya. This has very great significance. If one is serious about understanding the transcendental nature of Krsna, he should approach a person who is actually enriched with KC
- Lord Siva continued: If one is hurt by the arrows of an enemy, one is not as aggrieved as when cut by the unkind words of a relative, for such grief continues to rend one's heart day and night

- Lust is only the perverted reflection of the love of God which is natural for every living entity. But if one is educated in Krsna consciousness from the very beginning, that natural love of God cannot deteriorate into lust. BG 1972 purports

- Manisinah - this word is very significant. Manisi means thoughtful. Unless one is thoughtful, he cannot understand that he is not this body. But if one is a little thoughtful he can understand, - Oh, I am not this body. I am consciousness
- Markata-vairagya is not necessary. Real vairagya. We do not indulge in so-called sannyasi or brahmacari. If one is unable, he must become a grhastha
- Material existence means enjoying the pleasure of sexual intercourse (yan maithunadi-grhamedhi-sukham (SB 7.9.45)). If one is educated about sex life and is trained to protect his semen, he is saved from the danger of material existence
- Material wealth and opulence attained through previous pious activities can be fully utilized for one's benefit in this life and the next if one is Krsna conscious. One should not try to possess more than he needs for the bare necessities
- Mature sinful activities are exhibited if one is suffering from some chronic disease, if one is suffering from some legal implication, if one is born in a low and degraded family, or if one is uneducated or very ugly
- Members of the so-called educated class ask, If one is busy all the time rendering devotional service to Lord Krsna, how is one to maintain himself and his family
- Mucukunda continued, "It is therefore very difficult to get out of material entanglement, but if one is somehow or other favored by You, by Your mercy alone he is given the opportunity to associate with a pure devotee"
- My dear demigods, with patience and peace everything can be done, but if one is agitated by anger, the goal is not achieved. Therefore, whatever the demons ask, agree to their proposal

- Narada Muni said, "Even by sentiments one gives up his occupational duty, & surrenders to Krsna, even not understanding fully . . ." So sastra says, "What is the loss there?" And if one is performing his material duties very perfectly, then what is gain
- Not only are demons always anxious to kill God with words and philosophy, but they think that if one is materially powerful he can kill God with materially fatal weapons

- Of course, this is the material side of stri-sangi (if one is attached to women this attachment is always troublesome), but the situation of Lord Ramacandra is spiritual, for He does not belong to the material world
- One becomes free from all obligations to the demigods, saintly persons, pitas, ancient forefathers, etc., if one is completely engaged in the devotional service of the Lord
- One can become rich only by trying his luck in business. It is not possible by serving other. One should have independent source of income that is possible only if one is engaged in business or in land lordship
- One can neither see, hear, understand nor perceive the Supreme Lord, Krsna, by the material senses. But if one is engaged in loving transcendental service to the Lord from the beginning, then one can see the Lord by revelation. BG 1972 purports
- One cannot give up thinking of women, for thinking in this way is natural; even while walking on the street, one will see so many women. However, if one is determined not to live with a woman, even while seeing a woman he will not become lusty
- One has to understand one's relationship with Supreme Soul. If one is actually a devotee of Lord Siva, he comes to platform of spiritual realization, but if he is not intelligent enough, then he stops at that point, only realizing that he is spirit soul
- One may aspire to elevate himself to a heavenly planet within the material world, such as the moon, the sun or Venus, but if one is spiritually advanced in Krsna consciousness, he does not wish to remain within the material universe
- One may question how one can always think of the Lord in regard to His name, fame, quality, etc., if one is embarrassed by thoughts of family affairs. Everyone in the material world is full of thoughts about how to maintain his family
- One must collect money for the temple expenditures, or if one is a householder he must go to work in accordance with the prescribed duties of a brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya or sudra
- One must not only have the qualities of a brahmana, but one should also work as a brahmana, for one's qualities are tested by his work. If one is a qualified engineer but simply sits down at home and does not work, what is his value
- One should be qualified enough to discern transcendental potency, and either by discriminating or by fortunate chance if one is able to receive the transcendental sound from the bona fide spiritual master, his path of liberation is guaranteed
- One should be trained from the very beginning how to become gentle. From the very beginning if one is taught to become ungentle, uncontrolled of senses, how at the end he can become gentle
- One should constantly engage in topics about that servitor and his loving relationship with Krsna, and one should live in Vrndavana. If one is physically unable to go to Vrndavana, he should mentally live there
- One should not accept another's duty. If one is born in a particular society or community, he should perform the prescribed duties for that particular division
- One who is detached from the lotus feet of the SP of Godhead, from whose abdomen a lotus is grown for begetting Brahma, if one is bereft of attachment to the Supreme Lord, then his qualification of vipra is not accepted, or not very fruitful
- One who is fully aware of this truth (if one is promoted to Brahmaloka, but he is not freed from material bondage he must return to this planet earth) is self-realized (sa atma-drk), but aside from him, everyone suffers in the cycle of birth and death
- One who is not well versed in the authorized scriptures and not able to answer all such inquiries should not pose as a spiritual master for the matter of material gain. It is illegal to become a spiritual master if one is unable to deliver the disciple
- One's dormant love for Krsna gradually awakens if one is a little advanced in one of these five items and is intelligent
- Ordinary persons do not do this (surrender at Krsna's feet), even after hearing all the Vedas, but if one is fortunate, although it may be even after many, many births, he comes to this conclusion (bahunam janmanam ante jnanavan mam prapadyate) - BG 7.19
- Our method is very simple. If one is fortunate enough to meet a bona fide spiritual master and if he acts strictly under his discipline, he also becomes within a very short time another spiritual master

- Paramatma realization is but partial realization of Vasudeva, and if one is successful in that attempt, one realizes Vasudeva in full. But by ill luck most yogis are stranded by the powers of mysticism achieved through the bodily process
- People are embarrassed for improving their economic condition in other countries. Of course, if one is cultured, he is not embarrassed in any condition of life
- Pita na sa syaj janani na sa syad gurur na sa syat sva-jano na sa syat. In this way, the conclusion is, na mocayed yah samupeta-mrtyum. If one is unable to rescue his disciple from the imminent danger of death, he should not become a guru
- Please therefore try to be sympathetic with any person even if they differ. The only qualification we have to scrutinize is if one is acting in Krishna Consciousness as far as one is able to do it
- Practically everyone has been brought up eating meat. yet I say, "Don't eat meat." Therefore that is troublesome. But if one is serious about becoming self-realized, one must accept the order. That is tapasya
- Prahlada Maharaja said, agunena ca kanksitena: if one is engaged in the transcendental loving service of the lotus feet of the Lord, he does not need anything in terms of dharma, artha, kama or moksa
- Prahlada Maharaja says that everyone is attached to family affection. If one is attached to family affairs, he cannot control his senses
- Pride means if one is too much proud of his acquisition, either educational or material wealth, that means he is in the material platform. This very test
- Proselytization is superflous. If one is Hindu you make him a Christian, and you change the name. But what is the use of changing the name if you do not reform him about his character?

- Sannyasi does not mean simply changing the dress and thinking otherwise. No. Sannyasi, anyone, it does not matter whether the dress is changed or not, if one is fully engaged by his body, mind and words
- Sastra says that if one is in bodily concept of life, he is no better than the animal. Because the dog, it does not know that beyond this body, the dog is there, he is a living entity, he is a soul, he is Brahman, part and parcel of the Supreme Brahman
- Satyam param dhimahi. If one is after truth, he'll appreciate truth wherever it is. Every point, from any angle of vision, those who are searching after truth, everything is explained - primarily in the BG, and elaborately in the Srimad-Bhagavatam
- Sex is not prohibited, but illicit sex, that is controlled, that is controlled. If one is allowed to have unlimited, unrestricted sex, then he is doomed. Better restrict your sex in one. That means gradually it will be controlled
- Sex life is so strong that they cannot give up even in so-called devotional life. So this is dirty things. Actually it is very dirty. But one can give it up if one is very strongly under the shelter of Krsna
- So it is very difficult job, but if one is able to give up these sinful activities, then his life is very pure. He becomes purified
- So the general rule is that if one is inquisitive... Just as we follow in our, this Krsna consciousness society we ask everyone to come. We don't make any imposition that with such and such qualification one can sit here or hear. No
- Some people want to be promoted to the heavenly planets, some want to be promoted to Pitrloka, and some want to remain on earth, but if one is interested in returning home, back to Godhead, he can be promoted there also
- Somehow or other, if one is attracted to Krsna, whatever he does in devotional service is a permanent asset
- Sometimes if one is liberated from the material world but has no shelter at the lotus feet of Krsna, one falls down to the material world again
- Spiritual realization is not achieved in one birth. If one is fortunate, he can achieve in one second. But generally, it takes many, many years and many, many births to realize what is God, what is the Absolute Truth
- Sreya means ultimate good, and preya means immediate sense gratification, it is preya. And sreya means ultimate good. So if one is inquisitive to know what is the ultimate goal of life, for him, a guru is required
- Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu recommends that one chant the holy name of Krsna param vijayate sri-krsna-sankirtanam. If one is fortunate enough to hear from the mouth of realized devotees, he is very easily successful on the path of devotional service
- Sri Caitanya was a little embarrassed by the Bhattacarya’s statement; therefore He uttered the name Visnu to save Himself. The Lord herein (CC Madhya 10.182) confirms that if one is overestimated, glorification is just another form of blasphemy
- Srila Bilvamangala Thakura has said, muktih svayam mukulitanjali sevate ‘sman: liberation stands at one’s door, ready to render any kind of service, if one is a pure devotee with unflinching faith and reverence. This the Mayavadis cannot tolerate
- Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati says that if one is elevated to real, pure devotional service, he considers even great demigods like Brahma and Indra to be on an equal level with an insignificant insect
- Srila Rupa Gosvami says that if one is offered varied foods but has no appetite, the offering has no value
- Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.11.18) declares: If one is learned in the Vedic literature but is not a devotee of Lord Visnu, his work is a useless waste of labor, just like the keeping of a cow that does not give milk
- Srimad-Bhagavatam is the real commentary on the Vedanta-sutra. Unfortunately, if one is attracted to Sri Sankaracarya's commentary, Sariraka-bhasya, his spiritual life is doomed
- Such babajis do not know that if one is engaged in preaching or in glorifying the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the good reputation of a preacher automatically follows one
- Such control of the material energy, however, can be most successfully carried out if one is a soul surrendered unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead and carries out His order in the spirit of loving transcendental service
- Sucinam srimatam gehe, in very rich family and very pure family. Sucinam means pure, brahmana. So in India still, if one is born in a very nice, rich and pure family, he is considered to be very pious in his past life
- Sukadeva Gosvami tells Maharaj Pariksit, "My dear King, if one is spontaneously attached to the chanting of the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, it is to be understood that he has attained the highest perfectional stage"
- Sva-dharma (prescribed duties) might be violated in cases of emergency, if one is forced by circumstances, but they cannot be violated in ordinary times

- Temple or asrama means for renunciation and renounced persons. If one is engaged in self-realization process, then his material necessities become almost nil. Persons who do not like this can work outside
- Thank you very much for the Tulasi leaves offered to Lord Caitanya's lotus feet. If one is fortunate enough to receive such holy prasadam then all sinful reactions are immediately purified within the heart
- That is the test. If one is actually advanced in Krsna consciousness, you'll not find any fault in him. That is Krsna consciousness
- That is the way of the spiritual and godly life, after attaining which a man is not bewildered. If one is thus situated even at the hour of death, one can enter into the kingdom of God
- The answer to such questions or inquiries (on how to surrender to God) is given herein (SB 2.7.46). God is not present before our eyes but if one is sincere in wanting guidance God will send a bona fide person who can guide one back home, back to Godhead
- The association of good devotees, engagement in the transcendental service, the understanding of SB, the chanting of the holy name, and residence in a holy place; if one is expert in just one of them, he will be elevated to the stage of love of Godhead

- The duration of one's life cannot be saved. But if one is engaged in devotional service, his time cannot be taken away by the sun
- The example of the elephant in danger who was saved by the Supreme Lord is especially cited here (SB 3.19.25) because even if one is an animal he can approach the PG in ds, whereas even a demigod cannot approach the Supreme Person unless he is a devotee
- The eyes cannot see that which is very distant or very small. One cannot even see his own eyelid, which is the closest thing to his eye, and if one is disturbed by a disease like jaundice, he sees everything to be yellow
- The general instruction is that one should be fully surrendered to God. Now, if one is fully surrendered, then in a particular case and particular circumstances, God gives him instruction what to do
- The impersonalist, they think, we are cent percent one with the Lord or the Supreme Absolute Truth, but that is not a fact. If one is cent percent one with the Supreme Lord, then how he has come under the control of maya? This question, they cannot answer
- The Krsna consciousness movement teaches these spiritual activities, and if one is trained up in such spiritual activities, one is transferred to the spiritual world, of which we get ample evidence from Vedic literatures and also from the Bhagavad-gita
- The laws of nature may work, but if one is fixed in devotional service, he does not look outside to material nature, but he looks in to the spiritual nature of his existence; with a sober mind, he simply engages in the service of the Lord
- The living entities are promoted and degraded by the laws of nature, but if one is very, very fortunate, by association with saintly persons he gets the seed of devotional service, and his life becomes successful
- The Lord (Caitanya) requested that Ramananda Raya keep all these conversations secret and not expose them to the general populace. If one is actually advanced in Krsna consciousness, he can understand these confidential talks; otherwise they appear crazy
- The material enjoyments of youth are especially pleasing to a person who has no spiritual training. If one is trained only according to the bodily conception of life, he simply leads a disappointed life because bodily sense enjoyment finishes
- The material world is full of dangers (padam padam yad vipadam (SB 10.14.58)). For example, if one is on the ocean one may have a very strong ship, but that ship can never be safe; because one is at sea, at any time there may be dangers
- The meditation is also like that also. Instead of talking or doing nonsense, if one is remaining silent for some time, it is little good for him. But this meditation and maunam, silence, is not meant for the devotees. They are meant for the lesser
- The motor accident dying in America is not very astonishment, if one is little slow, immediately: tarak taka tak
- The only purpose of life is to be fully absorbed in thoughts of Krsna and His form, pastimes, activities and qualities. If one is able to think of Krsna in this way, twenty-four hours a day, he is already liberated (svarupena vyavasthitih) - SB 2.10.6
- The permission must be confirmed by Krsna from within his heart. Then, if one is very sincere and pure, he can write transcendental literature, either prose or poetry
- The process of liberation is therefore easier through devotional service than by any other methods, for it is said that one is subjected to various kinds of tribulations if one is impersonally attached
- The purpose of this Krsna consciousness movement is to teach people how to understand Krsna. If one is fortunate in understanding Him, one's life is successful. As long as we have lusty desires and greed, we cannot come to this understanding
- The regulative principles are not only for the brahmacaris (celibate students) to follow, but are applicable for all. It doesn't matter whether one is a beginner - a brahmacari - or if one is very advanced - a sannyasi
- The religious system which I am speaking. - What is that? Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam (BG 18.66), this religion. So if one is neglectful, does not like this proposal, then what is the result? Aprapya mam - He'll never get Me
- The spiritual life means . . . if one is actually situated in spiritual life he'll get spiritual pleasure, transcendental bliss, by serving more and more, new and new. That is spiritual life

- The system of varnasrama-dharma is very scientific. If one is directed by the varnasrama institution, he will naturally think of retiring from family life at the end of his life. Therefore sannyasa is compulsory at the age of fifty
- The Vaikuntha mentality is that if one is serving - I have read it in Bhagavata - Krsna better than somebody else, he would simply appreciate that "Krsna has so much favored him. Oh, how fortunate he is. When I shall be able?" That is Vaikuntha mentality
- The Vedas also instruct, tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet: (MU 1.2.12) one must accept a guru for proper direction if one is seriously inclined toward advancement in spiritual life
- The words bhagavata atmaramah are very significant in this verse (SB 5.1.1). If one is self-satisfied as is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he is called bhagavata atmaramah

- There are six kinds of rasas (tastes), and if one is agitated by any one of them, he becomes controlled by the urges of the tongue
- There are two things that nullify all good qualities. One is poverty. Daridra-doso guna-rasi-nasi. If one is poverty-stricken, all his good qualities become null and void. Similarly, if one becomes too greedy, his good qualifications are lost
- There is an English proverb that says, "The face is the index of the mind." If one is angry, his anger is immediately expressed in his face. Similarly, other mental states are reflected by the actions of the gross body
- There is no difference of opinion if one is actually religious. "God created this world," "God is the supreme father," "God is great," this is accepted by everyone, either Hindu or Muslim or Christian. There is no doubt about it
- There is no need to worship demigods of whatsoever category if one is serious about going back to Godhead

- We have to simply carry the message of Krsna and try to convince people. If one is convinced, it is good; if not, doesn't matter, I am not . . . going . . . then you are recognized by Krsna
- We know Krsna is feeding. But if he's a rascal, we don't want. We don't want to feed the rascals, we want to feed the devotees
- We say that you follow any religious path. That doesn't matter. We want to see whether you are lover of God. That is our propaganda. And if one is serious about loving God, it doesn't matter in which way he'll develop that dormant love

- When a ksatriya or brahmana adopts the occupation or duty of a vaisya (krsi-go-raksya-vanijyam (BG 18.44)), he is certainly counted as a vaisya. On the other hand, if one is born a vaisya, by his activities he can become a brahmana
- When a person is serious about accepting diksa, he must be prepared to practice austerity, celibacy & control of the mind and body. If one is so prepared & is desirous of receiving spiritual enlightenment (divyam jnanam), he is fit for being initiated
- When I was grhastha, I was going in so many temples, asking for some prasadam. That's a long history. So there is no question of, if one is financially poor, he should come to the temple. Everyone should come to the temple and ask for prasada
- When one becomes angry, he forgets himself and his situation, but if one is able to consider his situation by knowledge, one transcends the influence of the modes of material nature
- Where is the difficulty in finding a guru? If one is sincere he can find the guru and learn everything. One should take lessons from the guru and find out the goal of life
- Where is the difficulty in understanding God? There is no difficulty. If one is actually sane, if one has a brain that is not made of stool, one can understand God at every step
- Whether in the forest or at home, if one is attached to women this attachment is always troublesome, as shown by the Supreme Personality of Godhead by His personal example
- Who has fully dedicated his life for Krsna, he is sadhu. Even he has got some bad habits . . . A sadhu cannot have bad habits, because if one is sadhu . . . If in the beginning he has got some bad habit, that will be rectified
- Why I shall be proud? What I have got? I am humble servant of Krsna. Let me discharge my duties. But if one is proud after becoming a pure servant of Krsna, that is very good. That dambhah, that pride, is very glorious
- Within this material world he (Brahma) cannot avoid the distresses of birth, old age, disease and death. If one is at all serious about attaining liberation from these miseries, he must take to devotional service

- You have no experience in your country. In India still there are snake charmers. If one is bitten by a snake he remains unconscious. By mantra he can be brought into consciousness, in life
- You just become devotee of Lord Caitanya. I am flattering you, I am falling down on your feet - this is preaching. If one is doing like that, Krsna immediately recognizes. So if you are recognized by Krsna, then what you want more
