- A conditioned soul works in the service of his temporary body, bodily relatives like the wife and children, and the necessary paraphernalia for maintaining the body and bodily relations, such as the house, land, wealth, society and country
- A living entity in the conditioned stage can uncover his aptitude for serving the Absolute Truth by the grace of Krsna and the spiritual master
- A living entity is constitutionally part and parcel of the Supreme Being, but he forgets that he has to render service to the Supreme and diverts his attention to serving others; this is called maya. By serving others he falsely thinks that he is master
- A master is asking servant that "You knock me here." So he's knocking like this. So that is service. The others may see, "Oh, he's knocking and he's thinking, 'I am serving'? What is this? He's knocking." But master wants that "You knock me"
- A national leader who is very great in serving his country is sometimes killed by his countrymen because of irregular service
- A person who is not well versed in the Vedic injunctions (veda-sastra-vit) should not run for election as president, governor, etc. Formerly kings were rajarsis, which meant that although they were serving as kings, they were as good as saintly persons
- A small cottage can be constructed without any expenditure. Four logs serving as pillars can be secured by any man from the forest. The roof can be covered with leaves, and one can cleanse the inside. Thus one can live very peacefully
- According to one opinion, the rogues of Bihar know very well that Bengalis are intelligent; therefore these thieves generally force the Bengalis into service requiring intelligence and do not allow them to leave
- After item 26 (meditation) (of the positive actions), the twenty-seventh is to serve tulasi, the twenty-eighth is to serve the Vaisnavas, the twenty-ninth is to live in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krsna, & the thirtieth is to read SB regularly
- All living entities are serving Krsna in different ways, but when they are Krsna conscious, their service is fully manifest
- All six of these items (full energy, endurance, confidence, scheduled duties, pure in heart, and serving in association with devotees) will lead the devotee to the path of success
- Although Priyavrata Maharaja was serving according to the instructions of Narada Muni meant for going back home, back to Godhead, he returned to material affairs at the request of his father
- Anadrta-yusmad-anghrayah. The impersonalists do not think that the service of the Lord is more valuable than serving the poor man or starting a school or hospital
- Antaranga-seva refers to service performed in one's spiritual body. Svarupa Damodara Gosvami was formerly Lalitadevi. Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, who was among his assistants, now also began to serve Radha and Krsna within his mind
- As a result of speculation, he (one who neglects the instructions of the six Gosvamis) considers Gaurasundara to be an ordinary devotee and therefore cannot make progress in serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Radha-Krsna
B
- Because everything is done for Krsna, he (personalist) enjoys only transcendental happiness in the discharge of this service. Those who are engaged in this process are known to be without desire for personal sense gratification. BG 1972 purports
- Being absorbed in Krsna consciousness, even in this world husband and wife can live in Vaikuntha simply by installing the Deity of the Lord within the home and serving the Deity according to the directions of the sastras
- Bengalis are generally not very stout and strong. Therefore when a lone Bengali traverses the roads of Bihar, the plunderers on the road capture him, rob all his belongings and kidnap him for their own service
- Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes in this connection that Sri Radha-kunda is the most select place for those interested in advancing their devotional service in the wake of the lady friends (sakhis) and confidential serving maids (manjaris) of Radharani
- Bhavananda Raya first met Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu after His return from South India. At that time Ramananda Raya was still serving at his government post; therefore when Bhavananda Raya went to see Sri Caitanya, he went with his other four sons
- By sannyasa, the renounced order of life, we refer to one who has come to this platform (serving the reality instead of the illusion). Sannyasa is a question of realization, not social status
- By serving Radha-kunda, one can get an opportunity to become an assistant of Srimati Radharani under the eternal guidance of the gopis
- By serving such guru, bona fide guru, and surrendering unto him, and then questioning him, he can make actual progress in spiritual life, and then he understands properly what is God, what is our relationship with Him
- By serving the feet of great transcendentalists like Maitreya Muni and by constantly associating with them, one is enabled to give up the false idea that the soul suffers from material pangs
- By serving the servants of the Lord, one gradually gets the quality of such servants, and thus one becomes qualified to hear the glories of God
- By the grace of Kardama Muni, Devahuti experienced actual realization simply by serving. We get a similar example in the life of Narada Muni. In his previous life, he was a maidservant's son, but his mother was engaged in the service of great devotees
- By the grace of Lord Siva, Banasura had one thousand arms, and he became so powerful that even demigods like King Indra were serving him most obediently
- By the spell of illusion one tries to be happy by serving his personal sense gratification in different forms which will never make him happy. BG 1972 Preface
- By yoga-maya, the Lord remains concealed to the nondevotees or casual devotees who are serving their sense gratification. The Lord is never visible to the pseudodevotees who worship the demigods in charge of universal affairs
C
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu prays to Krsna (CC Antya 20.47) "You do whatever You like, but still You are my worshipable Lord." That is service. "I don't ask any return from You." That is service. When you expect some return, that is business
- Caitanya Mahaprabhu requested Ramananda Raya to retire from his governorship, and according to the Lord’s desire, Ramananda Raya petitioned the King. The King was very pleased to give him relief, and thus Ramananda Raya retired from service
E
- Education means to become servant, to write one application and go office to office: "Sir, give me some service." "No, no, no. No vacancy. Get out." This is education
- Even after successive births, the karma-yogi revives the transcendental sense of service, and by his natural attachment, he tries again to give further perfection to the progress of his transcendental activities
- Every one of us is serving under the order of maya, illusory energy, material energy, and we are becoming tired, sometimes very much fatigued
- Everyone is a servant, and no one is a master. Everyone is serving someone or other. Although the president may be the chief executive of the state, still he is serving the state, and when his services are no longer required, the state disposes of him
- Everyone is seeking a nice shelter. Somebody's seeking some occupation, service of some big man. Somebody's seeking servitorship of the government, government servant. But the ultimate shelter is Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- Everyone is servant; nobody is master. So there is gradation of service. That's all. Somebody is serving as President, somebody is serving as constable, somebody is serving as dog, somebody is serving as cat
- Everyone is serving. Nobody can say that, "I am not serving." No, you cannot say. Even if you have no master, then you create one master, a dog or cat, and you serve him
- Everyone thinks that my contemporary devotees are doing better than me. We are trained to address Godbrothers as Prabhu, which means Master. This means we shall try to find out always the serving side of our Godbrothers
F
- First-class men, they should cultivate knowledge to guide the human society, brahmana. Sama dama titiksa (BG 18.42). They should learn, ideal men. Under their advice. . . Brahmana is considered to be the guru of other sections: ksatriya, vaisya, sudra
- For example, one person may have a particular interest in hearing, another may have a particular interest in chanting, and another may have a particular interest in serving in the temple
- For so long I have been controlled by these rascals. There is no benefit. I have been controlled by my senses. So under the control of the senses I have served so-called family, society, country, nation - up to serving the dogs
G
- Gandhi gave lifelong service according to his own. Hitler gave lifelong service. Napoleon gave lifelong service. But their ultimate end was very, very regrettable. Nobody realized his service. He was punished. This is material world
- Great personalities of the material world are very eager to render welfare service to human society, but actually no one can render better service than one who distributes the knowledge of spiritual realization in relation with the Supreme Personality
H
- He (a businessman) can install the Deity of Krsna and arrange for the Deity's service, as is outlined in the authorized books of devotional service. This is all Krsna-karma. BG 1972 purports
- He (Caitanya Mahaprabhu) was only twenty-four years old. His lovable wife, beautiful wife, very very serving; mother, so affectionate mother; but He gave up everything, took sannyasa
- He (Krsna) engages His confidential servants who serve as spiritual masters and enlighten the conditioned living entities
- He (living being) is obliged to serve by force the dictates of illusory material energy in different phases of sense gratification. And in serving the senses he is never tired
- He (Nixon) will take a position, claiming, "I will give you very good service," and "I shall be a first-class servant." Therefore people vote, "All right, you become president." And he is advertising: "Reelect me! Reelect me!" That means he is a servant
- He (Sanatana Gosvami) served a notice of sickness to the Nawab, the Muslim governor, but actually he was studying Srimad-Bhagavatam with brahmanas at home
- He (the living entity) has rebelled against the service of the Lord, he is put in the service of the maya. He is still serving, but in a perverted manner
- Hindu society was very strict at that time. Still they are very strict. Anyone serving a foreigner, he becomes at once ostracized. He is at once, I mean to say, rejected from the social intercourse
- Hindu, or I may be a Christian, but the fact is that we are serving somebody. Either you be Hindu or Muslim or Christian or you may profess any religion, but you must be serving somebody. Is it not? So that serving is religion. Try to understand this
- How can they (modern human society) expect peace and prosperity in human society while committing such sinful activities (instead of giving protection to the cows and serving them, people are killing them)? It is impossible
- How is it to be understood that the Supreme Lord is satisfied by our service and labor? It is actually possible to perfect our service or occupational duty. Everyone has some service to perform according to his designations
I
- I am serving, but now I am serving maya. I'm not happy. Let me serve You - This is the meaning of Hare Krsna
- "I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds." Krsna is the root of everything; therefore rendering service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna (krsna-seva), means automatically serving all the demigods
- I am very pleased that you are serving your husband nicely and helping him so that he may advance his Krishna Consciousness. When the husband advances, automatically the wife shares in his success so there is all around benefit
- I cannot be happy serving you - everyone is thinking. "I can only be happy serving myself." But no one knows who the self is. That self is Krsna
- I have not done anything personally, very wonderful. I am simply serving my spiritual master and all the acaryas in the disciplic succession. If I have done anything of credit it is that I have not changed their teachings
- If a servant cannot carry out the orders of his master without being defeated, what is the use of serving such a powerless master
- If every one of us, we become reinstated in the transcendental platform of loving Krsna, then our aspiration of mastership will be fulfilled. That is not known at present, but if we agree to serve Krsna, then gradually we'll see that Krsna is serving you
- If I go to serve any office, I am not going to serve that particular person, proprietor of the office, but I require some money - therefore I am serving. So I am serving the money, not the person
- If one is averse to the service of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, then, even though he's a qualified brahmin, even though he's the most intellectual person, he is rejected
- If the facility for serving the Deities is not there, then we should not be discouraged. This is real detachment
- If we give service in ignorance, without knowing what is wanted, that kind of service may lead us to become punished. So we must know what kind of service we shall give
- If we have actually found out a person who is self-realized and we have surrendered there honestly, with enquiry and service, then we must know that our spiritual salvation is guaranteed. Guaranteed. There is no doubt about it
- If we take Vivekananda's version, and be engaged in the service of the daridra-narayana, then I am misled. Preaching this daridra-narayana-seva for hundreds of years, at least one hundred years, but still, there are daridras
- If you think that "I am serving for my sense gratification: I have to eat, I have to sleep, I must have sex and I must defend . . ." These are the necessities of the body. These necessities are there in the animal form of life also
- If you want to tender the highest humanitarian service, you should all be conversant with God consciousness and raise people to understand this philosophy
- If you would have co-operated with me you could do so for the satisfaction of spiritual master as abovementioned and that was a chance to serve a real representative of the Lord
- Ignorant of their real master, the foolish workers waste their valuable time serving mammon. Unfortunately, they never surrender to the supreme master of all masters, nor do they take time to hear of Him from the proper sources. BG 1972 purports
- Immediately we cannot imitate serving gopis. That's a good idea that you shall serve gopi, but it will take time. Not immediately. Immediately we have to follow the rules and regulations and routine work
- Immediately, as soon as he understands this philosophy of life that, "I am uselessly serving this material world or the society, friendship, country and so on, so on, without serving Krsna," that is called jnana, knowledge
- In illusion the living entity is serving in this material world. He is bound by his lust and desires, yet he thinks of himself as the master of the world. This is called illusion. BG 1972 purports
- In the bhakti-yoga system there are nine different processes: hearing, chanting, remembering, serving, worshiping the Deity in the temple, praying, carrying out orders, serving Krsna as friend and sacrificing for Him
- In the Siksastaka (8), Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has also instructed, aslisya va pada-ratam pinastu mam (CC Antya 20.47). The intense lover of Krsna is never deviated from his service, despite all difficulties and impediments brought before him
- In the Skanda Purana there is this description: upayanam daduh sarve vina devan hiranyakah. Hiranyakasipu was so powerful that everyone but the three principal demigods - namely Lord Brahma, Lord Siva and Lord Visnu - engaged in his service
- In the Srimad-Bhagavatam it is stated that the brahmanas are the head of the Supreme Lord, the ksatriyas are the arms, etc., and that all serve different functions. BG 1972 purports
- In these Puranas it is said that once the fair denizens of heaven pleased Astavakra Muni by their service and were blessed by the muni to have the Supreme Lord as their husband
- In this age Kali-yuga, ninety-nine percent, or at least ninety percent, they live by serving others. Therefore it is said, "In the Kali, in this age, almost everyone is sudra." There is no brahmin, no ksatriya, no vaisya
- In this Kali-yuga, everyone is a sudra. You hardly find a real brahmana or real ksatriya or vaisya. Because they are after service
- Instead of serving materially the different humors of the body the living entity's intelligence then becomes freed from the unhappy illusion of materialistic temperament and by unalloyed intelligence, the mind is brought into the service of the Lord
- It is not that we are serving, we have no sense gratification. The married couples are there. Nothing is prohibited; everything is there. But it is adjusted, adjusted. Not like cats and dogs
- It may seem that the regulative principles are being violated, but the devotee is on the transcendental platform. Such service is called gunatita, or nirguna, for it is not contaminated by the three modes of material nature
J
- Jagai and Madhai never accepted the position of serving a low-class person, nor were they forced to execute abominable activities under the order of a low-class master
- Just like in the Bhagavad-gita the master, Krsna, orders Arjuna to fight. He was not willing to fight for his personal interest, but when Krsna ordered him that "You must fight," he fought. That is service
- Just like this Vivekananda Society, their daridra-narayana-seva. The daridras are lying on the street, but they collect money in the name of serving the poor, and they live very comfortably - big, big belly. You see
- Just try to understand how this weaker section is serving this stronger section. Jivo jivasya jivanam. One living entity is the food for another living entity, by nature's law. So the conclusion is that we must render service to the strong
K
- Knowledge (idam jnanam) refers to pure devotional service, which consists of nine different activities: hearing, chanting, remembering, serving, worshiping, praying, obeying, maintaining friendship and surrendering everything. BG 1972 purports
- Krishna likes it when His own men are serving in the top positions of leadership
- Krsna confirms in the Bhagavad-gita (BG 10.10): To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me
- Krsna continued, "By worshiping all the elements and their predominating deities, one can gradually become free from the influence of envy, but all the sins of an envious person can be nullified immediately simply by serving a great soul"
L
- Living entities who are eager to return home to the transcendental kingdom of God, Goloka Vrndavana should take shelter of the confidential serving maids of Sri Radha and under their direction engage constantly in Her service
- Lord Caitanya is undoubtedly Krsna Himself, and He is always nondifferent from Srimati Radharani. But the emotion technically called vipralambha-bhava, which the Lord adopted for confidential reasons, should not be disturbed in the name of service
- Lord Visnu said: "My devotees, having fulfilled their desires by serving Me, do not accept the four kinds of salvation that are easily earned by such service. Why then should they accept any pleasures that are lost in the course of time?"
M
N
- No one can render devotional service to an impersonal entity because such service implies a reciprocal personal relationship between the servant and the master
- Nobody is master here, but when we falsely claim that, "I am master," that is maya. Everyone is serving, but under the impression that he is master
- Now we are training boys who are spiritually inclined and they are unnecessarily being forced into military service. The foolish have no knowledge that some boy is being trained up in higher science. Why should he be destroyed when he is being perfected
- Nowadays the education is that nobody can live independently. Higher education means if he does not get a suitable service, then it is useless
O
- Of course, he should not be foolish, that "God is giving me everything without asking, so why should I bother God, asking?" That is advanced devotion. Therefore pure devotee, they do not ask anything from God. They simply want to give service
- One can become rich only by trying his luck in business. It is not possible by serving other. One should have independent source of income that is possible only if one is engaged in business or in land lordship
- One can directly approach the Supreme Personality of Godhead simply by executing these (hearing, chanting, remembering, serving, worshiping etc.) nine kinds of devotional service, of which hearing about the Lord is the most important - sravanadi
- One cannot be liberated from material contamination without sincerely serving a devotee of Krsna
- One cannot simply say, "Now I have dedicated my life to Krsna. Let me remain seated in samadhi." The standard of surrender must be maintained by nisevaya, serving. As one serves the Supreme Lord, the Lord reveals Himself within the heart
- One devotee, he becomes father of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and any devotee who is attached to the lotus feet of the Lord, all kinds of success are engaged in his service
- One is advised to study Bhagavad-gita, or any other scripture, under a bona fide spiritual master, with service and surrender. BG 1972 purports
- One is directly engaged in the governor's or the president's service, so when he is in some difficulty, he has got some special protection
- One must understand this subject (of Ramananda Raya's serving two young girls by massaging their bodies with oil) very seriously and never attempt to imitate such activities
- One part of energy is manifesting the material world; the other (superior) part of His energy is manifesting the spiritual world. And the via medium energy is manifesting the living entities who are serving either of the above-mentioned energies
- One respectable brahmana named Sri Gunarnava Misra was serving the Deity
- One should always consider that behind all these activities (souls take another body) is superior superintendence. The living entity works in the material world just as the office worker works at his job, and a service record is kept of his performance
- One should be asking questions by two principle. He should ask questions from a person whom he believes to be a man of knowledge. Otherwise it is simply waste of time. And at the same time, seva, by service. Then question is allowed
- One should be interested in his individual self, one should not be interested with others if they hinder his service unduly
- One should not think that his service in the material world and his service in the spiritual atmosphere are the same
- One should not think, that this state (of samadhi) is simply a state of trance whereby one remains seated in lotus position in a corner for days on end. No, liberation means serving
- One who is engaged in Krsna's service, he is actually serving dharma, or religion. Dharma-varmani. Or dharma can help you to reach Krsna. Dharma. That dharma can be taught by Krsna, not by others
- One who is serving the Deity with love and faith, to him only, Krsna will reveal and He will give intelligence
- Other section number C, in which you have mentioned that there is no American to conduct this service, may be refuted on the ground that I have got so many American disciples, and why they will not conduct; so this position is not very sound in my opinion
- Our incense trademark should be registered now. I understand that there is one man in Bombay who has plagiarized our Spiritual Sky label, so we are serving him the proper notice to stop this plagiarizing business
- Our point is, wherever you go, you'll find a first-class man who is truthful. Now, wherever you find a truthful man, you can classify him as a brahmana & train him to serve the social body in that capacity, as a spiritual teacher & advisor. That is wanted
- Our Vaisnava principle is we have to qualify ourselves, just like cats and dog. But we are not going to serve the ordinary person. Krsna and His representative - then his life is perfect
- Out of these (39 items for DS) the following 5 are most important: (1) to associate with devotees, (2) to chant the holy name, (3) to hear Srimad-Bhagavatam, (4) to live in a holy place (Mathura or Vrndavana), (5) to serve the Deity with great devotion
S
- Sanatana Gosvami was a minister in the service of Nawab Hussain Shah. He was always mixing with materially inclined people, particularly with Muslims, meat-eaters
- Sanatana Gosvami was born in a very respectable brahmana family, but because he accepted the service of Muhammadan king, actually he lost his all brahminical culture. He did not lose, but superficially it appeared
- Service means to the senses. That's all. We are servant of our senses. We give service to the master . . . not to the master. I give service to the money - he pays me - not to the master. I have no love for the master
- Service means whatever the spiritual master wants, "You do this," you must do it, just like a menial servant
- Service spirit is your constitutional position. You have to serve. But because you have placed your service spirit in a wrong place, you are frustrated. You have to put it into the right place, and that is Krsna consciousness movement
- Service you have to render. Either Radha-Krsna or maya, illusion, senses. Everybody is serving to the senses. Is it not? But he's not satisfied. He cannot be satisfied
- Serving means developing love. So unless you develop your love for God you cannot serve Him. Anywhere. Whenever you give some service, it is based on love. Just like mother giving service to the helpless child. Why? Love
- Serving the university
- Seva means service. You cannot challenge. You approach such person whose instruction you shall receive. You can inquire submissively, but you cannot challenge. That is not allowed in Vedic system
- Since it is not possible for him to be master, he is much better situated serving the reality instead of the illusion. When one becomes aware of this, he attains the platform of real knowledge
- So everyone is engaged in giving service to somebody else. This is called dharma, basic principle of dharma. So what is our dharma, living entity?
- So this is the position. One is actually serving, not master. But he's thinking that he's master. This is maya. So when we give up this false prestigious position that I am master, then you are liberated
- Sometimes they will advertise, "Our customers are our masters." Is it not? But in spite of the flowery language - "Our customers are our masters" - this is business, because nobody is a qualified customer unless he pays. But service is not like that
- Sometimes those sages (to whom Narada was giving service as a boy servant in his previous life) left remnants of food on their dishes, and the boy, who would wash their dishes, wanted to taste the remnants. BG 1972 purports
- Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura states that one of these servings (described in CC Madhya 3.66) was offered in a metal dish and was meant for Krsna, whereas the other two were placed on big banana leaves
- Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura comments that serving Vaisnavas is most important for householders
- Srila Bilvamangala Thakura says, muktih svayam mukulitanjali sevate ’sman: Liberation stands before me with folded hands, begging to serve me
T
- Tad viddhi pariprasnena, pranipatena, and sevaya. The questions should be put, guided by two principles: surrender and service. That is the way
- Temporary time-serving devotional service is not accepted as pure devotional service. Actual devotional service continues even after liberation. BG 1972 purports
- The arca-murti we are serving. It is not that. . . Don't think. . . Arcye visnau sila-dhih. If you are rascal, they will think that "These people are serving a stone statue." The rascals will think like that, but that is not the fact
- The asuras sometimes become so powerful that they can engage even Narada Muni and similar devotees in their service. This does not mean that Narada was subordinate to Hiranyakasipu
- The brahmanas are specifically restricted from accepting such service (which denies all the moral codes of the sastras). But in this age they will not only accept service, but they will do so even if it is of the meanest quality
- The English word "worship" cannot be used in the same sense as bhaja. Worship means to adore, or to show respect and honor to the worthy one. But service with love and faith is especially meant for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. BG 1972 purports
- The example of Ramananda Raya is certainly unique. The author of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta has given this description (of Ramananda Raya's serving two young girls by massaging their bodies with oil) because in perfect DS one can attain such a position
- The instruction is very simple: that you give up the service of this sense gratification. You just engage yourself to the service of Krsna. This is Krsna consciousness. You simply change the consciousness
- The living being's constitutional position is one of serving a superior
- The Lord (Caitanya) is more pleased when one serves the servant of the Lord
- The Lord accepted this cursing of His servants (Jaya and Vijaya) and agreed that they would have to go to the material world and would then return to Vaikuntha after serving the term of the curse
- The mahatmas become so absorbed in transcendental service that they no longer desire elevation to any of the material planets, nor do they even want to be transferred to any spiritual planet. BG 1972 purports
- The Mayavadi philosophers offer lip service to Vedic authority but try to escape the Vedic ritualistic ceremonies. They concoct some idea of a transcendental position and call themselves Narayana, or God
- The most intelligent men in society are the saints and sages who have sacrificed everything for the service of spiritual culture
- The mother always expects some sort of service from the grown-up child and is equally affectionate toward her child, even though the child is forgetful
- The other two servings, on banana leaves, were to be accepted by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Nityananda. That was Advaita Acarya’s intention, but He did not disclose this to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
- The people to whom Buddha philosophy was preached, they were not so intelligent that there can be better service after giving up this service. Therefore Lord Buddha said - You stop this service, you become happy, because ultimately everything is zero
- The present form of human life is a chance of realizing your eternal life. Do not spoil your life simply by serving the misgiven mind and the uncontrolled senses. Please do not become your own enemy by your own self
- The primeval Lord, being all-powerful, can do whatever He likes, and therefore His assuming the incarnation of a tortoise or a fish for serving a particular purpose is not at all astonishing
- The purpose of knowledge and of restraining the senses, as prescribed in the jnana and yoga processes, is automatically served in Krsna consciousness. BG 1972 purports
- The Queen (Vaidarbhi) did not even talk to her husband (Malayadhvaja) while serving. She would simply perform her prescribed duties without talk. Thus she did not stop rendering service until she could ascertain that her husband had passed from the body
- The servant serves the master so long there is payment. If the payment is stopped, then no more the servant will be available. But in the eternal world - the Krsna's servant, that's eternal, without any payment. They serve Krsna not for any material gain
- The servants of God come to propagate God consciousness, and intelligent people should cooperate with them in every respect. By serving the servant of God, one can please God more than by directly serving the Lord
- The serving spirit of the residents of the transcendental world is displayed in five varieties of relationships with the Supreme Lord, who is the central enjoyer. In the material world everyone is a self-centered enjoyer of mundane happiness and distress
- The social classes can be further characterized as follows: (4) He who has no special knowledge but is satisfied by serving the other three classes (namely brahmanas, ksatriyas and vaisyas) is called a sudra
- The spiritual life means . . . if one is actually situated in spiritual life he'll get spiritual pleasure, transcendental bliss, by serving more and more, new and new. That is spiritual life
- The sudras, the unintelligent class of men who cannot act independently in any of the above-mentioned activities, are meant for serving the three higher classes for their livelihood
- The superior energy is utilizing inferior energy for His purpose. You are utilizing this inferior, the lump of matter, for serving my purpose. That is superior energy
- The supremely powerful Lord Krsna is manifest in five different potencies. Although He is one without a second, in order to serve five specific spiritual purposes, He is manifest in five ways. Such diversity is eternal and blissful
- The tongue is sevonmukha-jihva - it is controlled by service. One whose tongue is engaged in tasting material things and also talking about them cannot use the tongue for absolute realization
- The Vaikuntha mentality is that if one is serving - I have read it in Bhagavata - Krsna better than somebody else, he would simply appreciate that "Krsna has so much favored him. Oh, how fortunate he is. When I shall be able?" That is Vaikuntha mentality
- The wife of a brahmana suffering from leprosy manifested herself as the topmost of all chaste women by serving a prostitute to satisfy her husband
- The word bhajete is significant here (in BG 6.47). Bhajete has its root in the verb bhaj, which is used when there is need of service. BG 1972 purports
