- A child enjoys playing all day; he does not want to be sent to school to be educated. Education is sreyas, the ultimate goal. No one is interested in this
- A child, for him preyas means he wants to play, he doesn't want to go to school, but his sreyas is that he must go to school, must be educated, so that his future life may be secure
- According to Vedic civilization, a human being must be God conscious. He should understand what God is, what this material world is, who he is, and what their interrelationships are. This is called sreyas, or ultimately auspicious activity

- If things are to go on as they ought to, how can a head of state be indifferent to such activities (indifference to the activities of the material world)? In answer to this question, the word sreyah, auspicious, is used here - SB 4.20.14
- If you are actually inquisitive to understand what is sreyas, that is sreyas-kamah. kamah means desiring, and sreyas means ultimate good. Not preyas-kamah. If you want to enjoy these material facilities, then you can go to such kind of men
- In this (CC Adi 9.42) verse of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is said that one should be interested in sreyas
- In this way (keeping brahmacari) his life becomes very solid for future sreyas. But that is not being taught at the present moment
- It is a child’s nature to engage all day and night in playing, not caring even for his health and other important concerns. This is an example of preyas. But there are also sreyas, or activities which are ultimately auspicious

- Preya means immediate benefit, and sreya means ultimate benefit. So those who are interested in the ultimate benefit go back to home, back to Godhead
- Preya means immediately very palatable. That is called preya. And sreya means ultimately good. Suppose if you take some palatable foodstuff, it may be very palatable to you . . . there are many example. Just like smoking
- Preyah means immediately pleasing. And sreyah means ultimately benefit, benediction

- So this Krsna consciousness movement is for the sreyas-kamah. And who becomes sreyas-kamah? Maha-bhaga, who is great fortune. Not ordinary person
- Sreya means ultimate benefit of life. That one who is inquisitive to understand about the ultimate goal of life, for him there is need of guru, not a fashion

- Sreyas means real interest, and preyas means immediate profit. So nikama-kamah, sense gratification, is very nice immediately. "I enjoy sex life. This is very nice. Why shall I chant Hare Krsna? Let me enjoy sex

- The generation are becoming degraded, because they are not aiming at the sreyas. They are simply aiming at the preyas - immediate pleasing thing. They do not know that immature sex life spoils the brain, spoils strength. Everything is spoiled
- The sastras instruct us to aim for sreyas and not be captivated by preyas. The supreme sreyas is bhakti-yoga
- The spiritual master should be approached by a person who is inquisitive to understand sreya uttamam, what is the highest benefit, spiritual benefit, beyond this material existence
- The word bhutyai means "for increasing opulence," and the word sreyase refers to ultimately returning home, back to Godhead
