- A dying person, at the time of death, if he remembers the form of Krsna and while remembering in that way, if he quits the present body, then surely he approaches the spiritual kingdom
- A human being performs sinful actions simply for sense gratification. This is not good. Because of such sinful actions, one receives another body in which to suffer as he is suffering in his present body because of his past sinful activities
- A living entity is offered a particular type of body as a result of his action in the present body. These activities are taken into account by a superior authority known as daiva, or the authority of God
- A man engages in sinful activities because he does not know what he did in his past life to get his present materially conditioned body, which is subjected to the threefold miseries
- According to the activities of the present body, one prepares another subtle body. And according to the subtle body, one attains another gross body. This is the process of material existence
- Actually, death means annihilation of the present body. As soon as the present body stops functioning and mixes with the five elements of material nature, the living entity within the body accepts another body
- After death one forgets everything about the present bodily relations; we have a little experience of this at night when we go to sleep
- After finishing the present material body, they (conditioned souls who learn how to perform yajnas for the satisfaction of Visnu) can enter into the kingdom of God. That is the whole program for the conditioned soul. BG 1972 purports
- Although fire is always fire, it is exhibited in a size proportionate to the size of the wood. Similarly, although the individual soul is qualitatively one with the Supreme Lord, he exhibits himself according to the limitations of his present body
- Anyone who can understand this truth (about Krsna), in terms of the statements of revealed scriptures, certainly becomes liberated just after quitting the present body
- Anyone who comes to know Him (Krsna) as He is becomes liberated at once, and while leaving this present body such a knower goes back to Godhead, never to return to this universe of manifold miseries
- As a sleeping person acts according to the body manifested in his dreams & accepts it to be himself, so one identifies with his present body, which he acquired because of his past religious or irreligious acts & is unable to know his past or future lives
- As confirmed in Bhagavad-gita (BG 4.9), tyaktva deham punar janma naiti: after giving up the present body, a devotee who has understood Krsna as He is need not return to this material world
- As soon as a true representative of the Lord is met by a devotee of the Lord, the devotee is assured a guarantee for going back to Godhead just after leaving the present body. This, however, depends on the sincerity of the devotee himself
B
- Because one thinks constantly in this way (as the Lord's servant, friend, father, mother or conjugal lover), one's present material body and mind are fully spiritualized, and the needs of one's material body completely vanish from one's existence
- Before giving up this present body, if one is able to tolerate the urges of the material senses and check the force of desire and anger, he is a yogi and is happy in this world. BG 5.23 - 1972
- By mental adjustments one dreams at night of living under different circumstances, in different bodies, and forgets his actual position. Under this process, one gives up his present body & accepts another (tatha dehantara-praptih (BG 2.13)) - SB 10.1.41
- By superior arrangement a living entity is offered another body, but because of his attraction to the present body, he does not like to transfer himself to another body. Thus he is forced to accept another body by the laws of nature
- By these present senses it is not possible to understand the transcendental nature of Krsna, His name, His form, His quality, His pastimes. Everything of Krsna, they are all divyam, divine
E
- Especially in this age, human society is covered by the mode of ignorance, and therefore everyone thinks his present body to be everything, without consideration of the past or future
- Even at the point of death, he (living entities) thinks of his present body and the relatives connected to it. Thus he remains fully absorbed in the bodily conception of life, so much so that even at the point of death he abhors leaving his present body
- Even Narada used to visit the palace of Maharaja Yudhisthira and what to speak of other celestial demigods. It is only the spiritual culture of the people concerned that makes interplanetary travel possible, even in the present body
- Even those who are liberated do not resent accepting, in the present body, the results of their past activities. While sleeping, one dreams many unreal things, but when he awakens he disregards them and makes progress in factual life
- Even though he has a human body, a person in the mode of ignorance and interested only in his present body is like an animal, for an animal, being covered by ignorance, thinks that the ultimate goal of life and happiness is to eat as much as possible
H
- Having experienced a situation by seeing or hearing about it, one contemplates and speculates about that situation, and thus one surrenders to it, not considering his present body - SB 10.1.41
- He (a qualified brahmana) can understand what his past life was, why he is in the present body, & how he can obtain liberation from the clutches of maya & not accept another material body. This is all possible when one is situated in the mode of goodness
- He (Dhruva) did not care for death, however, and even with his present body he boarded a spiritual airplane and went to the planet of Visnu because of association with the great sage Narada, who had spoken to him the narration of the pastimes of the Lord
I
- I (Prabhupada) have already admitted, that by modern scientific method if you can change the condition of your present body then you can go. It may be possible, but that is very remote
- I am doing very large-scale business in my present body. I am earning... Just like Rockefeller, Ford, in your country. In our country also, Birla. There are many big industrialists earning money like anything, hoarding money
- I have got the clue of going "Back to Godhead'' just after leaving my present material body, and in order to take along with me all my contemporary men and women of the world, I have started my paper "Back to Godhead'' as one of the means to the way
- If we practice Krsna consciousness in this present body while in a healthy condition and in good mind, simply by chanting the holy maha-mantra, Hare Krsna, we will have every possibility of fixing the mind upon Krsna at the time of death
- In dreams we sometimes see things that we have never experienced in the present body
- In the Bhagavad-gita it is said that one who knows the truth about Sri Krsna's descent and His various activities is at once liberated and does not have to fall again to this existence of birth and death after he leaves his present material body
- In the discharge of devotional service, if one has unflinching faith in the instruction of the bona fide spiritual master and follows the rules and regulations, he is sure to be liberated, even within this present body
- In the subtle body, the mind is predominant, and therefore if one's mind is always absorbed in remembering the activities or the lotus feet of the Lord, he is to be understood to have already changed his present body and become purified
- In whatever condition one quits his present body, in his next life he will attain to that state of being without fail. BG 1972 Introduction
- It is a foolish imagination that we can go to other planets in the present body. If we want to go to Devaloka, the planets of the demigods, we must achieve the required qualifications, and the same is true if we want to go back to the kingdom of God
- It is difficult, however, for the conditioned soul to enter another body unless the present dead body is annihilated through cremation or some other means
- It is very simple philosophy. The rascal will not understand. I am changing my body. You may say growth or . . . but it is changed. I had a childhood body; that body is different from my this present body. It is changed
J
- Just as these cyclic changes take place one after another, we change from one body to another, and it is natural to conclude that after leaving the present body we shall receive another body - bhutva bhutva praliyate
- Just try to understand me clearly. In order to enter the moon planet you have got to prepare yourself for a suitable body. If you make that suitable body, you can enter. But the present body which you have manufactured - the spacesuit - is not suitable
O
- One can certainly reach there (God's abode) after leaving this present body, and one must prepare himself to go back to Godhead by practicing devotional service. That guarantees a passport for going back to Godhead, and Kunti adopted it
- One cannot achieve the desired results of one's penances until one attains freedom from the present body. There are various ways to practice the various kinds of yoga to attain various results in various spheres of life
- One has only to change the aspiration during the course of this present body, and for this there is need of training in the current duration of human life. This training can be begun at any stage of life, or even a few seconds before death
- One has to prepare himself to be transferred to a different planet after being relieved of the present body
- One should not, however, mistakenly think that after the annihilation of the present body there is no body by which one can associate with God face to face. The living entity is unborn. It is not that he is manifest with the creation of the material body
- One who acts like a dog or hog in the present body will certainly be forced to accept the body of a dog or hog in the next life
- One who attains the highest perfection goes back to Godhead after leaving his present body. Once there, he doesn't have to come back to this material world and transmigrate from one body to another
- One who can understand the truth of the appearance of the Personality of Godhead is already liberated from material bondage, and therefore he returns to the kingdom of God immediately after quitting this present material body. BG 1972 purports
- One who is in complete darkness cannot know what his past life was or what his next life will be; he is simply interested in his present body
- One who is interested only in his present body and who tries to enjoy his senses to the fullest extent is understood to be engrossed in the mode of ignorance. His future is very, very dark
- One who is trained to perceive all these things (how a living entity leaves his present body, what form of body he is going to take in the next life, why he is living in a particular type of body) is fortunate. BG 1972 purports
- One who understands this fact (Krsna's birth and body are not like that of ordinary living beings), either from the Lord or from authorized sources, is not reborn after leaving the present material body
- One's present body will be finished, and then one will have to accept another body. What kind of body one will accept is stated in Bhagavad-gita - 14.18

- Our real problem is that we are accepting a material body, and after some days, we are giving up the present material body, and we are accepting another material body. How we are accepting different bodies?
S
- Simply by knowing the transcendental nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, one becomes free from the chains of the repetition of birth and death, and after quitting his present body he goes back home, back to Godhead
- Sometimes caste brahmanas argue that unless one changes his body he cannot be accepted as a brahmana, for since the present body is obtained as a result of past actions, one who has in the past acted as a brahmana takes birth in a brahmana family
- Sometimes in the present body the living entity feels that many of his desires and imaginations are not fulfilled
- Sometimes we suddenly experience something that was never experienced in the present body by sight or hearing. Sometimes we see such things suddenly in dreams

- Suddenly cruel death comes without mercy and takes away the great planmaker against his desire, forcing him to give up the present body for another body
- Suppose I am very comfortable at the present moment. My body may be comfortable, but there will be death, and then another birth. After giving up my present body, if I get the body of a cat or a dog, what is the meaning of my comfortable position
T
- The beginning of devotional service to the Lord is the beginning of spiritualizing the present body, and thus an unalloyed devotee of the Lord loses all material contact in the present body
- The body is always changing, and death is simply the ultimate change of the present body
- The conclusion is that the mind is the storehouse of our past desires, and we have this present body due to our past desires. Similarly, whatever we desire in this present body will be expressed in a future body
- The conclusion is that the next body is already determined by superior control. The living entity immediately gives up the present body and enters another
- The conditioned soul may have one kind of body in the present birth, but he has a different body in the next birth. In the material world, the living entity has no fixed body but transmigrates from one body to another. BG 1972 purports
- The demigods who reside with Lord Brahma in Satyaloka go to Vaikunthaloka in their present bodily constructions at the time of the dissolution
- The difference (for a devotee) is, however, that for one who surrenders to Krsna fully and who is protected by Krsna, the present body is his last; he will not again receive a material body to be subjected to death
- The individual soul is transmigrating from one body to another, and his present body and present activities are the background of his next body. BG 1972 purports
- The individual soul, from Lord Brahma down to the ant, exhibits his spiritual potency according to his present body. The demigods are in the same category with the individual souls in the bodies of human beings or in the bodies of lower animals
- The living being has attachment for the present body and does not want to enter another, and thus in the interim he remains a ghost

- The present body may be finished grossly, but the subtle body is not finished; it carries the soul to the next body
- The pure devotee lives constantly in the abode of the Supreme Lord, even in the present body, which apparently belongs to this world. The pure devotee is not exactly on the bodily plane, since he is absorbed in the transcendental thought of the Supreme
- The subtle body comes back and settles in the present gross body because the gross body has to be continued. Therefore one has to become free from the subtle body also. This freedom is known as mukta-linga
- There are two kinds of transmigration of a living entity after passing away from the present body
- There is a very common Bengali proverb that says that whatever one does for perfection will be tested at the time of his death. Bhagavad-gita describes what we should do at the point of our death, when we are giving up this present body
- They (atheists) have no idea how the subtle body carries the results of the present body's actions down to the next gross body
- They (conditioned souls) can risk their lives to become a dog or hog just after leaving the present body, for they have completely lost sight of the ultimate aim of life
- They (Krsna and Arjuna) would all continue to be individual personalities in the future also, even after the annihilation of the present body and even after being liberated from the bondage of material existence
- They are simply interested in the present body, does not care what is going to happen, and has no knowledge what he was before. There is another place it is described: nunam pramattah kurute vikarma
- This material body is developed because spirit is present within matter; a child grows gradually to boyhood and then to manhood because of that superior energy, spirit soul, being present. BG 1972 purports
- This requires a great amount of knowledge (to understand how a living entity leaves his present body & what form of body he is going to take in next life) understood from BG & similar literatures heard from a bona fide spiritual master. BG 1972 purports
- Transmigration of the soul is very clearly explained in this verse (of SB 10.1.41). One sometimes forgets his present body and thinks of his childhood body, a body of the past, and of how one was playing, jumping, talking and so on
- Transmigration of the soul. So for another body, that will be created according to the mental situation we made here at the present body - just like the same air passing through rose garden and air passing through a toilet room
W
