| Srila Prabhupada: The spiritual master is one who preaches what the Lord speaks. The Lord says, sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja ([[Vanisource:BG 18.66|BG 18.66]]) this is dharma. And the duty of a spiritual master is to say give up all dharma and surrender unto the lotus feet of Krishna. He is a spiritual master. Otherwise the rest are cheaters. One who himself becomes Krishna, he is a cheater. And the one who says surrender unto the lotus feet of Krishna, he is a spiritual master. This is the difference. You test him to see what he says. If he says what Krishna says, mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja, the spiritual master also says, surrender unto the lotus feet of Krishna, Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, surrender unto the lotus feet of Krishna, that is a spiritual master. First accept what the Lord says in the second one, and then talk about the third one. First accept what the Lord says now sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja ([[Vanisource:BG 18.66|BG 18.66]]). Then what will He say in the third instance. That third instance is there, Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He says, harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam kalau nāsty eva these are the words of the scriptures, not manufactured by Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
