Lectures

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Lectures

"Here is your ideal place, Kṛṣṇa. Come back to Kṛṣṇa"
Lecture on CC Madhya-lila 20.318-329 -- New York, December 22, 1966: So unless one becomes very much pessimistic of this material world... Actually, they are, but they want to forget. Somebody is trying to forget it by liquor. Somebody is trying to forget by LSD, and somebody is marijuana, or gañja. But that forgetfulness will not save you. You have to actually forget it, that "This is a condemned place," and you cannot forget this unless you have got ideal place before you. Therefore this śruti-pramāṇa, the Vedic knowledge, will give you: "Here is your ideal place, Kṛṣṇa. Come back to Kṛṣṇa. Try for it. Try your best for this." That is the life. That is human life. And unless one is not conscious to this platform, he is defeated.

This village is a very ideal place
Arrival Address -- Paris, August 11, 1975: So now by the grace of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, this movement has come to your country, and especially in a nice village like this, utilize it properly. It is a very ideal place. Not only this, there are many thousands of places like this. People should take advantage to live in such nice place, produce their necessities of life, and keep them fit and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and realize self.

Viṣṇujana: New Vrindaban would be an ideal place in America for such a school
Morning Walk "Varnasrama College" -- March 14, 1974, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Yes. From five to ten years, gurukula. And after ten years, they should go to the varṇāśrama college.

Viṣṇujana: New Vrindaban would be an ideal place in America for such a school.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Organize that.

1977 Conversations and Morning Walks

You can make an ideal place
Room Conversation -- July 27-28, 1977, Vrndavana:

Yaśomatīnandana: And it is our experience that in the city hardly fifteen, twenty people come. But in the village, hundred fifty, two hundred come, even though the temple is...

Prabhupāda: You can make an ideal place. Very good.

Gopāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes. Very good temple. And actually the farm is worth five or six lakhs' rupees. All surroundings all good. And another good thing I found was in Hyderabad the neighboring villagers were against us when we went there, but here they're all favorable. They all say "Hare Kṛṣṇa." When you walk, they greet you enthusiastically.

Prabhupāda: Gujarati people are Vaiṣṇava by nature.

Correspondence

1967 Correspondence

This temple is very ideal place for our imagination of an American house
Letter to Rupanuga -- Vrindaban 9 September, 1967: On the whole, the American boys who come here become first depressed, so I do not know how far our American house in Vrindaban will be successful. I am negotiating with the Revenue Minister of Rajastan government to have some place in the very nice temple of Jaipur. This temple is very ideal place for our imagination of an American house, and it is almost 50% settled that the house may be partly occupied by us. But in any case, at least two American boys must live here and take charge of the management.

1968 Correspondence

New Vrindaban will be ideal place for visiting from the neighboring provinces, counties
Letter to Kirtanananda, Hayagriva -- Montreal 23 August, 1968: I am so pleased to learn that Kirtanananda, you have already attracted neighboring devotees by your presentation of Prasadam. I am sure this Prasadam attraction will make our neighbors friendly and surely they will come in number in future so that New Vrindaban will be ideal place for visiting from the neighboring provinces, counties, I think so and it will be done nicely. I am so glad to learn that you are feeling too much engagement in New Vrindaban, and this a spiritual inspiration. Our society should never be a devil's workshop, but it should be certainly the most magnificent platform for spiritual activities.

1969 Correspondence

New Vrindaban is an ideal place for improving Krishna Consciousness
Letter to Mukunda -- New Vrindaban 22 May, 1969: Here in your country all the branches are doing very nicely, and this New Vrindaban is an ideal place for improving Krishna Consciousness. We have got enough land here to construct temples and accommodate for the devotees, so in the future we may develop this New Vrindaban very nicely. There is surely an atmosphere of Vrindaban life actually, although many of the devotees here are quite new and differently cultured.
The Los Angeles temple is now an ideal place for all centers to take example
Letter to Cidananda -- Los Angeles 3 July, 1969: Madhudvisa has already gone there as desired by you, and I am sure he will be very helpful. He is now a veteran trained man, and the Los Angeles temple is now an ideal place for all centers to take example. Now I hope you will be able to make San Francisco as important as Los Angeles temple in cooperation with Madhudvisa and the other devotees there.

1970 Correspondence

Maintain a regular temple there so that people may come see an ideal place of worship
Letter to Syamasundara -- Los Angeles 12 April, 1970: Our men will take charge of maintaining the temple, so what is the objection about his sparing this nice place for turning into Krishna temple. My idea is that you six boys and girls who have gone there remain there and help George as far as possible, but you maintain a regular temple there so that people may come see an ideal place of worship and surely that will be a great advantage for George and the visitors who come there.

1971 Correspondence

Letter to Nayanabhirama -- Bombay 30 April, 1971: Your newspaper and magazine clippings are very nice. They arrived on a day when our life members were meeting and they were appreciated by all.
