Conversations and Morning Walks

1967 Conversations and Morning Walks

Discourse on Lord Caitanya Play Between Srila Prabhupada and Hayagriva -- April 5-6, 1967, San Francisco:

Prabhupāda: Huh? That's clear. Accha. Then fourth scene is lunar eclipse. You'll have to arrange a scene that just in the evening there is appearance of the full moon on the side of the Ganges and people are taking bath half in the water and half above the water, and they're all chanting, this same scene, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, with mṛdaṅga and... Yes. So somebody comes, Advaita. Advaita comes in the scene to take bath in the Ganges and begins to dance. "Oh, my mission is now fulfilled! My mission is now fulfilled!" He'll talk. He was very sorry to see the condition of the people that everyone is engaged simply for material sense gratification. Nobody is engaged in love of Godhead. So he wanted to rectify their behavior, but he thought that "I am ordinary man, what can I do? If Kṛṣṇa Himself comes, then He can do it."

1973 Conversations and Morning Walks

Room Conversation with Indian Guests -- July 11, 1973, London:

Guest (3): Swamiji, tomorrow is Gaura-pūrṇimā. And a friend of mine, his father, or his mother died on Ekādaśī day. Husband and wife were, they had been fasting Ekādaśī doing Satya-nārāyaṇa-kathā. So now father, he is very lonely, and he said, "I have got no guru." Then I told him about you. So he immediately grabbed the idea. He wants to come tomorrow, in the morning to have your blessings. But then is it possible that he could have the initiation?

Prabhupāda: Well, let him come. First of all let him understand...

Guest (3): That man already comes. But tomorrow is Gaura-pūrṇimā. That's why I thought if tomorrow...

Morning Walk -- December 9, 1973, Los Angeles:

Prabhupāda: Yes but daily we see it is covered. Why? That means?

Śrutakīrti: The tides go in and out.

Prajāpati: The phases of the moon, Śrīla Prabhupāda, affect the tides.

Prabhupāda: That I know. Or due to this moon, yes. Now it will go down. After this full moon. Yes. (break)

Prajāpati: ...Christmas, Śrīla Prabhupāda. They'd be better off celebrating the fact that you're here.

Prabhupāda: I say that they are not Christian. They're all atheists. Christians, one who is actually Christian, he's good. But they are not Christians. They do not believe in Christ. Neither in his words. So what kind of Christian they are?

1974 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- January 23, 1974, Hawaii:

Sudāmā: They had predicted that it was going to be as bright as three...

Prabhupāda: ...millions times...

Sudāmā: ...moons, like a full moon night. (break)

Bali Mardana: ...predictions were going around about the end of the earth was coming...

Sudāmā: End of the earth. Forty... They said they had forty days, forty days left.

Prabhupāda: How rascals they are, just see. I never believed. How shall I believe? I know it cannot be done. That Easy Journey to Other Planets, I have described the moon-going-plan—a childish. Did I not?

1975 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- March 1, 1975, Atlanta:

Prabhupāda: This is lake?

Devotee: Yes.

Balavanta: In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam you say that the Rāhu planet is visible on the full moon night? The Rāhu planet?

Prabhupāda: No, when there is eclipse.

Balavanta: Oh, eclipse.

Prabhupāda: Eclipse means Rāhu planet comes in front. (Apparently reads sign:) "No smoking?"

Śrutakīrti: "No swimming."

Morning Walk -- June 26, 1975, Los Angeles:

Prabhupāda: No, no, that I have already explained. We must be hypnotized. If we do not become hypnotized by Kṛṣṇa, then we must be hypnotized by this television and other. (break) ...pūrṇimā? No. Full moon, last night? No.

Harikeśa: I think the full moon was Monday.

Prabhupāda: Monday? (break) ...how many pages yesterday delivered?

Nitāi: I finished a hundred pages.

Prabhupāda: Just see. (laughs)

Nitāi: Today I will finish the rest of Chapter Thirty.

Prabhupāda: So what is decided?

Morning Walk -- November 7, 1975, Bombay:

Bhāgavata: ...for the Gaura Pūrṇimā festival this year.

Prabhupāda: Where?

Bhāgavata: On the land at the Caitanya Maṭha, at Caitanya Mahāprabhu's birthsite. (break)

Dr. Patel: ...to me.

Prabhupāda: No, not to you. (laughter)

Dr. Patel: You were explaining to me.

Prabhupāda: No. No, no. I am explaining to everyone that "Whose business he struck?" That is the way. (Hindi saying) ...that "In the assembly there is some talks, but the talks which is concerned to somebody, he becomes sorry."

1976 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- January 16, 1976, Mayapur:

Prabhupāda: Trees.

Jayapatāka: Those trees which can grow on low land, they can be put here.

Prabhupāda: Yes. (break) ...for trees, do it very nice, different types of fruits and...

Jayapatāka: (break) ...suggested that for this year's Ḍola Pūrṇimā we put hutments here for the devotees.

Prabhupāda: Why?

Jayapatāka: Just temporary.

Prabhupāda: Why?

Jayapatāka: Grass, for housing.

Prabhupāda: No, there are so many rooms.

Room Conversation -- January 19, 1976, Mayapur:

Prabhupāda: He does not mention his name. He says... All right, go. His sannyāsī name is... All right. Then?

Bhavānanda: "All the desires for future work of Śrīla Prabhupāda Sarasvatī Ṭhākura used to come to the present ācāryadeva as an impulse first, which he translated into action at once. In spite of a hundred hindrances from so-called religionists with a vision of a future worldwide mission, Śrīla Prabhupāda established Śrī Caitanya Maṭha at Śrī Māyāpur, the birthplace of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, on the Phālguna Pūrṇimā day, the seventh March, 1918, which was a red-letter day in the history of theistic religious revival in this age. He started a countrywide movement to carry the message of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu to every door.

Morning Walk -- March 18, 1976, Mayapura:

Prabhupāda: Hm?

Gurudāsa: Are the moon's phases due to the planet Rāhu?

Prabhupāda: Space?

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: The phases of the moon-quarter moon, half moon, full moon.

Gurudāsa: Waxing and the waning of the moon.

Prabhupāda: No.

Pañca-draviḍa: What's it due to, then?

Prabhupāda: That I should not exactly immediately say.

Gurudāsa: We don't accept.

Morning Walk -- March 21, 1976, Mayapura:

Prabhupāda: About these movements, my position is different. My position is.... There is two movements, a sun movement and the whole planetary system movement. So according to the movement.... That is explained in the Bhāgavatam.

Pañca-draviḍa: Why is it sometimes there's only quarter moon, no moon, half moon, full moon?

Prabhupāda: The same explanation. On the whole, we have to accept that something wonderful is going on. And that is Kṛṣṇa's arrangement.

Trivikrama: Jaya.

Prabhupāda: You cannot explain. You, you rascal scientists, from so much distant, you have calculated, "This is thi..." This is all wrong. Yasyājñayā bhramati sambhṛta-kāla-cakraḥ. They are carrying order of Kṛṣṇa, not your order. Yasyājñayā. "By the order of Govinda," not your order. Yasyājñayā bhramati sambhṛta-kāla-cakraḥ.

Morning Walk -- April 15, 1976, Bombay:

Prabhupāda: Kathitā. You cannot manufacture some ideas that "I am feeling I am doing for Kṛṣṇa." No. That will not be... Direct order. She is going behind?

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: Yes.

Dr. Patel: Today is a full moon day, and the full tide came at twelve o'clock by night. So after eight o'clock there is a full reverse of it, what do you call it?

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: Low tide.

Dr. Patel: Low tide. Yes. (Hindi to passerby)

Interview with Jackie Vaughn (Black Congressman) -- July 12, 1976, Detroit:

Jackie Vaughn: I'm very grateful.

Prabhupāda: Whenever you find time, please come.

Jackie Vaughn: I will.

Prabhupāda: Yes. You'll get so many inspirations. (pause) The pathways in the garden, if they are occasionally washed, as far as possible, grow.... (break)

Mādhavānanda: Today is celebration of snāna-yātrā, So.... (break)

Hari-śauri: July 18.

Mādhavānanda: Today is snāna-yātrā, disappearance of Mukunda Datta and Śrīdhara Paṇḍita and full moon. Tomorrow is disappearance of Śyāmānanda Gosvāmī.

Morning Walk -- July 11, 1976, New York:

Prabhupāda: Neither he can understand, he has no intelligence.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Today is the disappearance day of Sanātana Gosvāmī.

Prabhupāda: Oh.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It is also guru-pūrṇimā.

Prabhupāda: Today?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes. Is there some special celebration or significance?

Prabhupāda: Guru-pūjā, that you are doing daily. (reads sign) "Model sailboat."

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes, the children come here, not only children but adults, and they have some model, toy models which they sail around.

Morning Walk -- July 14, 1976, New York:

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: And the body also lasts. Good quality.

Devotee: You see them ten years old, still running. (break)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: ...telling you that the Māyāpur time, the Rāma-navamī comes in April, Gaura-pūrṇimā is in March, it will take a total of six weeks. This year our saṅkīrtana book distribution was set back severely on account of the over-long duration of the festival and all of the devotees and GBC men wanted that it should be about three weeks.

Prabhupāda: That's all right.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So the problem is that Gopāla Kṛṣṇa is saying that he wants all of the devotees to stay there for the opening of the Bombay temple.

Prabhupāda: Not necessary.

Morning Walk -- July 14, 1976, New York:

Prabhupāda: Some of them. They can go sometime later.

Rāmeśvara: Or the next year.

Prabhupāda: Oh yes. Some batches may go this year, some batches may go...

Rāmeśvara: The following year, Gaura-pūrṇimā festival there can be a pandal program in Bombay. Then they can visit it the next year. The main point is we don't have to be there for the opening.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: As you recall perhaps, in Māyāpur, we discussed that we would like to go in Vṛndāvana first and end the festival in Māyāpur on Gaura-pūrṇimā.

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Room Conversation -- July 17, 1976, New York:

Indian man: Now there are some people in our community there at Poughkeepsie, they are all followers of Satya Sai Baba, and they were telling me that "Anyone you pray, Kṛṣṇa, Rāma, Viṣṇu, it comes to Satya Sai Baba." I said, "Don't tell me that nonsense," I said. (laughter) "Satya Sai Baba is not Kṛṣṇa, and don't tell me that." In fact for Guru Pūrṇimā they invited me to Satya Sai Baba's bhajana. I said, "No, I have my guru. I'm very happy. Don't disturb me. I have Kṛṣṇa, I have my guru, and I have my path. I don't have to go to anybody's gurus, and I don't have to take anyone's teachings." I say, "My Gītā is here, written by Prabhupāda. I follow it, and that's it. I don't have to have extraordinary brains to follow everyone's Gītā or everything else. Here is my path."

Prabhupāda: In South America there was a great criticism?

Hari-śauri: South Africa.

Prabhupāda: South Africa.

Room Conversation -- July 18, 1976, New York:

Prabhupāda: Yes, continue this program. People will be attracted.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I was thinking that we could make a point to have many big festivals here each year, not just this one, but many.

Prabhupāda: Yes, at least three, four you can do. On Janmāṣṭamī, one; Gaura Pūrṇimā; for Śrī Rāma-navamī; and one, Ratha-yātrā.

Bali-mardana: We can do New York for the spring, summer and fall.

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Bali-mardana: Because the weather is nice.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: That coincides. Rāma-navamī is spring, Ratha-yātrā is summer, and Janmāṣṭamī is fall.

Room Conversation -- July 18, 1976, New York:

Bali-mardana: Because the weather is nice.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: That coincides. Rāma-navamī is spring, Ratha-yātrā is summer, and Janmāṣṭamī is fall.

Hari-śauri: Gaura Pūrṇimā would be a bit difficult, though. Everybody is in India.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: That's not possible.

Bali-mardana: We could do that inside.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: But those three...

Prabhupāda: Janmāṣṭamī, take Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa procession.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: On carts?

Prabhupāda: No, on siṁhāsana, carried by hand.

Room Conversation -- August 8, 1976, Tehran:

Prabhupāda: Yes, yes, Caspian Sea. This is made from a kind of fruit.

Nava-yauvana: Yes, a kind of melon.

Prabhupāda: They are saying that the moon is full of dust. And dust is so brilliant? We have to believe this? The rascals they are making this proposal. So what do you think?

Dayānanda: I don't think they know actually what they are talking about, Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Yes, actually this is fact. It is similar planet like the sun, but it is surrounded by cold atmosphere, therefore it is so pleasing. And because it is far away from the sun, the distance between moon and earth is more than the distance between the sun and the earth. Therefore sun looks bigger and it looks smaller. We are contemplating having a planetarium with electric arrangement. You'll have to work. The whole planetary system is moving from east to west, and the sun, moon and... They are up and down. (to child): Come on, Hare Kṛṣṇa, chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. He can speak?

Evening Conversation -- August 8, 1976, Tehran:

Prabhupāda: And they will advertise that these descriptions in the śāstras, they are all mythology. Of course, this kind of bluffing cannot go because suppose this Mars expedition becomes a failure, like that, the same... It will be failure. So next time, if they propose, I think people will be hesitant to allow them to. Simply bringing people rocks and sands, without any utility, after spending so much money. How long they can repeat this, "Yes, we went to this planet, rocks. We went to this-rocks." So we see variety. Is the so many luminaries, simply rocks and sands? The moon is full of rocks and it's so illuminating? Whole universe is illuminated so nice, moonshine. So many stars illuminating and they're rocks and sand? We have to believe it?

Evening Conversation -- August 8, 1976, Tehran:

Prabhupāda: Huh?

Pradyumna: It's coming to pūrṇimā.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Moon is the cooling effect. Desert will make a cooling effect. (laughter) Just see. At least I shall not believe that this is desert and rock. I'm not so fool. The desert and rock is giving so nice brilliant shining, everyone is feeling comfortable. Just see. We have to believe it.

Atreya Ṛṣi: Because Kṛṣṇa is missing. They don't accept Kṛṣṇa.

Morning Walk and Room Conversation -- August 9, 1976, Tehran:

Prabhupāda: No, it is stated in the Bhāgavatam.

Pradyumna: In the Jyotiṣa it has, it controls liquids. And I think even in hospitals here, near Pūrṇimā, where some of the times they don't like to do the operations because there will be more..., the blood will run more. Something, they have some, somebody told me. The tides are also going according to the moon. The rivers are running according to the moon. In the Ganges, one time we went...

Prabhupāda: The ebb tide, low tide, according to the moon.

Pradyumna: One day the Ganges was very peaceful, and then we went again and it was rushing. If you went in you would just be carried away. (long pause)

Prabhupāda: You can do it here.

Room Conversation -- September 3, 1976, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Oh yes. Bank is going nice?

Akṣayānanda: The bank is all right.

Prabhupāda: (Hindi) So the Gurukula building, how far? (Hindi)

Gopāla Kṛṣṇa: When devotees come for Gaura-Pūrṇimā... (Hindi)

Prabhupāda: So let them come first of all here from Delhi.

Indian devotee: They come first here.

Gopāla Kṛṣṇa: Thing is, the whole thing has to be completed in three weeks because the American GBCs don't like... They think it is a very big loss financially. (Hindi) Book distribution stops completely. (Hindi)

Prabhupāda: Is that correct? Is that correct key?

1977 Conversations and Morning Walks

Discussion on Deprogrammers -- January 9, 1977, Bombay:

Jagadīśa: Coming. Śrīla Prabhupāda, we've been talking about... (break)

Haṁsadūta: I shave once a month.

Hari-śauri: Once a month on pūrṇimā.

Rāmeśvara: And our Ādi-keśava, he has also grown out his hair for the court case and all the people. He's meeting the politicians.

Prabhupāda: That's all right. But we are famous as shaven-headed. That is already advertised. Shaven-headed means Kṛṣṇas. So why should we relinquish this...

Haṁsadūta: Trademark.

Rāmeśvara: It has made us famous. That's a fact.

Room Conversation with Film Producer about Krsna Lila -- January 22, 1977, Bhuvanesvara:

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Guest (2): Then here Kṛṣṇa... The spring has come, and this is... You have got here the Govardhana pūjā, and Kṛṣṇa's līlā with these cowherd boys, and they're going on. In the spring they are going out... Here, in Orissa also, in Bengal also. On the full moon day of Phalguṇa we get that..., where all the cows meet together and we get this. From that function we started. We have established that...

Prabhupāda: On the whole, my point is: it is a very difficult subject matter. So unless we very carefully deal, people will misunderstand.

Guest (2): We have carefully dealt with...

Guest (1): So we have given them images the superpower of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa.

Guest (2): It is not a question of sex. It is super divine power.

Room Conversation -- February 18, 1977, Mayapura:

Prabhupāda: Yes. Yes. They have got duplicate key. They can take.

Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: He's wondering about his Deities. I told him that the Deities are supposed to be ready by Gaura Pūrṇimā. You gave that time limit. He wanted to know what the size was and how many. So I knew there was Kāliya-Kṛṣṇa and four nāga-patnīs and Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa and Lalitā and Viśākhā and, I think I told him Gaura-Nitāi, Guru-Gaurāṅga, Gaura-Nitāi, and your deity and your Guru Mahārāja's deity. That makes thirteen.

Prabhupāda: So they are preparing?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I think. Yes, they were told.

Hari-śauri: Rāmeśvara is supposed to be making all the arrangements.

Room Conversation 'GBC Resolutions' -- March 1, 1977, Mayapura:

Prabhupāda: That is another thing. That is preference how he wants to work. That's nice.

Satsvarūpa: That's the purpose of that meeting. And then we also scheduled the holding of the bhakti-śāstra exam for being on Gaura Pūrṇimā, the fifth.

Prabhupāda: Next.

Satsvarūpa: Yes, the next day.

Prabhupāda: That's good.

Satsvarūpa: Then our next business was the division of the zones.

Prabhupāda: Hm. Where is our Bhagavān dāsa?

Room Conversation with GBC members -- March 2-3, 1977, Mayapura:

Prabhupāda: That's nice.

Satsvarūpa: Resolved: Pañcadraviḍa Swami will organize how to distribute prasādam to all visiting pilgrims on Gaura-Pūrṇimā day.

Prabhupāda: How many you are arranging?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: How many are you arranging for?

Pañcadraviḍa: One hundred thousand.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: One lakh.

Prabhupāda: Very good.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What will it consist of?

Room Conversation Varnasrama -- July 14, 1977, Vrndavana:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: And they sent photographs. These Deities are superwonderful.

Prabhupāda: Very nice.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: That says, "Śrī Nṛsiṁha-caturdaśī. Śrī Rādhā-Vana-vihārī Mandir." This is Gaura-pūrṇimā outfit.

Prabhupāda: Continue.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Candana-yātrā.

Prabhupāda: Everything is very nice.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Do you want those spices now, little digestive spice?

Prabhupāda: Hm. (break)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: People will just eat themselves, eat each other.

Room Conversation -- October 10, 1977, Vrndavana:

Bhavānanda: Jayapatākā Mahārāja went over, but he was out that time. That Hṛṣīkeśa Mahārāja in Caitanya Maṭha was also there. All favorable and helpful. That big nagara-saṅkīrtana on Pūrṇimā, that was very successful. It healed a lot of misunderstandings between the temples.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Everyone could see also that there was so much support.

Bhavānanda: Oh, yes.

Prabhupāda: Floodwater entered our new house? No.

Bhavānanda: No. The lawn, the park in front of the temple, there was water. There were fish there, swimming.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Where? In that big maidan?

Room Conversation -- October 12, 1977, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Switch it off.

Upendra: Decrease. (break)

Jayapatākā: At first some of the devotees were disturbed, but after the Balarāma Appearance and Jhulan Pūrṇimā procession, that gave everyone new encouragement, because they saw how much the local people were appreciative of your work, Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Everything will be settled up. Don't be disheartened. So when you left Māyāpur, things were in order? Hm?

Jayapatākā: When I left Māyāpur, everything was in order. Nitāicānd and Sarva-bhāvana Prabhu, as well as Pañca-ratna, are there. Actually one of our workers, he is filing his own case against thirteen Māyāpur villagers, because they had attacked him while he was riding on his bicycle.

Room Conversation -- October 26, 1977, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Devotees: Jaya Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Today is also pūrṇimā, Mahārāja?

Hari-śauri: Today is Rāsa-pūrṇimā.

Pañca-draviḍa: And tomorrow begins Kārttika.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So Kārttika is the proper time for parikrama.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Tell the... (break) So my suggestion for parikrama last night...

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Is successful.

Prabhupāda: Yes. (laughs)

Room Conversation -- October 26, 1977, Vrndavana:

Bhavānanda: I'd like to go and shave. May I be permitted to go?

Prabhupāda: Hm?

Bhavānanda: I'd like to go and shave. (break)

Pañca-draviḍa: Śrīla Prabhupāda, on this pūrṇimā you look like a fresh lotus flower. (break)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Kīrtana.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Kīrtana. Kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ (CC Adi 17.31). (break)

Prabhupāda: There is no harm, but if once is good, why twice?

Bhavānanda: Śatadhanya Mahārāja, the kavirāja said something to you about the dosage?

Room Conversation -- October 27, 1977, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Now.

Guest (1): Yes. And it will remain for another two months.

Prabhupāda: Very pleasant.

Guest (1): Now after this śarat-pūrṇimā, just a pleasant cool climate starts. And it's not moist or sultry there.

Prabhupāda: Huh?

Guest (1): It is not sultry. In the daytime also it is quite pleasant, not very warm.

Prabhupāda: Oh. Vegetable growing?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Vegetables are growing?

Guest (1): Yes, vegetables are...

Room Conversation -- October 29, 1977, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Hm.

Svarūpa Dāmodara: "First point: To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to the residents and the visitors of Gauḍa-maṇḍala-bhūmi. Second point: To propagate the consciousness of Kṛṣṇa, as it is revealed in Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and to propagate that Caitanya Mahāprabhu is Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself, as is revealed in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta and the Caitanya Bhāgavata. 3) To bring all the members of ā together nearer to Lord Caitanya and thus develop within humanity at large that each soul is a part and parcel of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa. 4) To teach and encourage the saṅkīrtana movement of congregational chanting of the holy names of God given in the teachings of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. 5) To erect temples, schools, colleges, universities, institutes of higher studies, hospitals and other buildings with or for the advancement of the objects of the Trust and to maintain, alter and improve the same, including existing buildings, and to furnish and equip the same. 6) In keeping with the spirit of the previous ācārya's vision of Gauḍīya-Mādhva sampradāya, to cement relations with all the sister temples of Gauḍīya-Mādhva sampradāya under one banner, to solidify preaching the message of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, as desired by His Divine Grace Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Prabhupāda and Śrīla Ṭhākura Bhaktivinoda and all the previous ācāryas in this line. 7) With a view to achieving the aforementioned purposes and to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, and other books and other items. 8) To do all such other things for the attainment of the objects of the Trust. 9) Trustee members are appointed lifetime. The members should always be seven. 10) A meeting once a year at Śrīdhāma Māyāpur during Gaura-Pūrṇimā. 11) There should be a chairman, a treasurer, and a secretary elected each year. 12) A quorum of at least five members." Finishes.

Room Conversation -- October 29, 1977, Vrndavana:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So these are the points, Śrīla Prabhupāda, that we have... We expanded this. Your original simple point was to form a Bhaktivedanta Swami Charity for developing Gauḍa-maṇḍala-bhūmi. So we have expanded it into these points if they please Your Divine Grace. We took the ideas mostly from your original points in the..., when you formed the New York corporation, Śrīla Prabhupāda. We used those points and just changed them around a little bit. Today that Jagadish, I forget his name, that lawyer from Mathurā, he is coming, so I'm going to be meeting with him, and I'll give him these points and see if he can draft a document, proper document. I'd like to get a document done in time so that when we go to Māyāpur, and especially at Gaura-Pūrṇimā, we can have the first meeting. (break)

Bhavānanda: ...mantras nonstop, while he's preparing. (break)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Where is Vrindavan? I spoke with him for about two hours this afternoon, going over all of the points again, and, er, I explained everything to him. He said that he personally has very bad luck, very unlucky person. He said, "My only possible hope is my father."

Prabhupāda: To guide him.

Room Conversation -- October 31, 1977, Vrndavana:

Bhavānanda: In Krishnanagar. The magistrate who is hearing the case is a real gentleman, very kind, understanding. He had been to Māyāpur about three or four months before this incident. He came with his wife and children. We gave him very nice prasādam and showed him the movie "Hare Kṛṣṇa People." And on the 25th of November, that's Rāsa-pūrṇimā festival, and that is big day at Māyāpur. In three days probably over half million people will come to the temple. We sell so many books, magazines. It never used to be like that, Śrīla Prabhupāda, until you built this center. Now the Rāsa-pūrṇimā festival has turned into a big, big event in Bengal.
