Sri Caitanya-caritamrta

CC Madhya-lila

By this mantra, the people worship Lord Kṛṣṇa in Dvāpara-yuga. In Kali-yuga the occupational duty of the people is to chant congregationally the holy name of Kṛṣṇa
CC Madhya 20.339, Tanslation and Purport: "By this mantra, the people worship Lord Krsna in Dvapara-yuga. In Kali-yuga the occupational duty of the people is to chant congregationally the holy name of Krsna.

As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (12.3.51):

kaler dosa-nidhe rajann asti hy eko mahan gunah
kirtanad eva krsnasya mukta-bandhah param vrajet
"My dear King, although Kali-yuga is full of faults, there is still one good quality about this age. It is that simply by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom." Thus in Kali-yuga one worships Lord Krsna by chanting Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. To propagate this movement, Lord Krsna personally appeared as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. That is described in the following verse.

Lectures

Srimad-Bhagavatam Lectures

So it is the duty of the person, never mind in whatever occupation he is engaged, uttamaśloka-guṇānuvarṇanam, to glorify the Supreme Lord
Lecture on SB 1.5.22 -- Vrndavana, August 3, 1974: That everyone is situated in some business, occupation. So it is the duty of the person, never mind in whatever occupation he is engaged, uttamasloka-gunanuvarnanam, to glorify the Supreme Lord. It doesn't matter whether he is a medical man or he is an engineer or a lawyer, or whatever he may be, politician... His only business is by his occupational duties to glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is the basic principle of Krsna consciousness movement. We do not advise that you change your place. There is no need of changing place. Sthane sthitah. This is the Brahma's version. Sthane sthitah sruti-gatam tanu-van-manobhih. You remain your, in your occupation, your position, but kindly hear. Therefore we have got so many sastras, Vedic... Therefore the Vedic literature is known as sruti. One has to hear. But that education is lacking. Nobody is hearing the Vedic literatures. They are hearing so many other things, but not... Therefore Bhagavata says, srotavyadini rajendra nrnam santi sahasrasah. Srotavyadini. The business is to hear.
This is the method of worship. What is that? That Supreme Personality of Godhead who is always chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra
Lecture on SB 5.5.2 -- Hyderabad, April 13, 1975: So Krsna personally appeared as devotee to reestablish the mission of Krsna. Krsna wanted sarva-dharman parityajya [Bg. 18.66], and Caitanya Mahaprabhu preached Krsna consciousness, krsna-varnam tvisa akrsna. This is a statement in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. The real identification of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. That is in this age there was talk between Nimi Maharaja and Navayogendra. So what is the duty of the people of Kali-yuga to worship the Supreme? In that connection, Karabhajana Muni, he said,
krsna-varnam tvisakrsnam
sangopangastra-parsadam
yajnaih sankirtana-prayair
yajanti hi su-medhasah
[SB 11.5.32]
This is the method of worship. What is that? That Supreme Personality of Godhead who is always chanting Hare Krsna mantra. Krsna varnayati, krsna varna tvisa akrsnam. But His bodily complexion is not krsna, not blackish, but yellowish, tvisa. Tvisa means by the complexion, akrsna, not Krsna. And another symptom, sangopangastra-parsadam. He's associated with His most confidential devotees and expansions.
