1972 Correspondence

Practically, books are the basis of our Movement. Without our books, our preaching will have no effect.
Letter to Mandali Bhadra -- Jaipur 20 January, 1972:

My first concern is that my books shall be published and distributed profusely all over the world. Practically, books are the basis of our Movement. Without our books, our preaching will have no effect. So I am so much engladdened that you are enthusiastic to please me in this way, and that you are very determined to continue translating profusely. If you can increase translating more and more, that will advance you more and more in spiritual life. Krishna will give you all help.

Without books and magazines, what authority or what basis have we got for preaching?
Letter to Sudama -- Calcutta 19 February, 1972:

I thank you very much for the news that many cassette-tapes you have sent for continuing the taping process of my lectures and translating. Otherwise they are either unobtainable or very costly here in India, so it is a very nice service. I am also very encouraged to hear that Japanese language translations of some of my books will be brought out soon. That is very important step forward for our preaching work there, because without books and magazines, what authority or what basis have we got for preaching?

Without such books and magazines, our preaching work has no authorized basis, so there must be always books.
Letter to Krsna dasa -- Calcutta 24 February, 1972:

I have informed Karandhara what is the position and he shall be sending you some money for immediately renting one place for temple, as well as sufficient stock of literatures. Without such books and magazines, our preaching work has no authorized basis, so there must be always books.

1973 Correspondence

Distribution of all these books is making a firm basis for our movement.
Letter to Trai -- India 4 March, 1973:

Your plans for increasing book distribution are very good. If so many books are being sold then very soon we will be finished the second edition. Distribution of all these books is making a firm basis for our movement.

Now these beautiful books have become the firm basis for our movement and any intelligent person in any part of the world cannot but fail to admire them.
Letter to Tejiyas -- Calcutta 15 March, 1973:

Your statement that "no intelligent man can resist becoming the member because of our books" is a very good observation. Now these beautiful books have become the firm basis for our movement and any intelligent person in any part of the world cannot but fail to admire them.

1976 Correspondence

Try to encourage book distribution as much as possible. Books are the basis of our Movement. Whatever appreciation we are getting on account of our books, it is because we are following the path chalked out by exalted devotees.
Letter to Tusta Krsna -- Bombay 9 January, 1976:

Your home to home preaching is very good. The important thing is to make arrangements that they hear and chant. That will make your preaching successful. Once they begin chanting then automatically they will want to follow the rules and regulations, attend Arati, take Prasadam, etc.

Yes, try to encourage book distribution as much as possible. Books are the basis of our Movement. Whatever appreciation we are getting on account of our books, it is because we are following the path chalked out by exalted devotees. We are not writing something whimsical.
