Bhagavad-gita As It Is

BG Preface and Introduction

BG Introduction:

Unless one is awakened to this position of questioning his suffering, unless he realizes that he doesn't want suffering but rather wants to make a solution to all suffering, then one is not to be considered a perfect human being.

BG Chapters 1 - 6

BG 2.58, Purport:

Unless one is able to follow the do's and the do-not's, restricting oneself from sense enjoyment, it is not possible to be firmly fixed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

BG 2.59, Purport:

Unless one is transcendentally situated, it is not possible to cease from sense enjoyment.

BG 2.61, Purport:

And unless one is Kṛṣṇa conscious it is not at all possible to control the senses.

BG 2.66, Purport:

Unless one is in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there is no possibility of peace.

BG 3.33, Purport:

Unless one is situated on the transcendental platform of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he cannot get free from the influence of the modes of material nature, as it is confirmed by the Lord in the Seventh Chapter (7.14).

BG 4.7, Purport:

No one should be accepted as an avatāra unless he is referred to by scriptures.

BG 5.24, Purport:

Unless one is able to relish happiness from within, how can one retire from the external engagements meant for deriving superficial happiness?

BG 6.13-14, Purport:

One cannot be fearless unless one is fully in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. A conditioned soul is fearful due to his perverted memory, his forgetfulness of his eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa.

BG 6.36, Purport:

Unless one is engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he cannot steadily control the mind.

BG Chapters 7 - 12

BG 7.26, Purport:

Unless one is liberated from material contamination, he cannot know past, present and future.

BG 7.28, Purport:

Unless one is reinstated in his own constitutional position, it is not possible to understand the Supreme Personality or to be fully engaged in His transcendental loving service with determination.

BG 10.2, Purport:

The conception of God as some ruling power or as the impersonal Brahman can be reached by persons who are in the inferior energy of the Lord, but the Personality of Godhead cannot be conceived unless one is in the transcendental position.

BG 10.7, Purport:

Unless one is firmly convinced of the different opulences of the Supreme Lord, he cannot engage in devotional service.

BG 10.12-13, Purport:

Unless one is in the disciplic succession, he cannot understand Bhagavad-gītā. It is not possible by so-called academic education.

BG 11.48, Purport:

And the voluntary acceptance of some bodily pains is called tapasya. So one can perform all these—can accept bodily penances, give charity, study the Vedas, etc.—but unless he is a devotee like Arjuna, it is not possible to see that universal form.

BG Chapters 13 - 18

BG 13.22, Purport:

Unless one is situated in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, his material consciousness will oblige him to transfer from one body to another because he has material desires since time immemorial.

BG 15.20, Purport:

Anagha, "O sinless one," means that unless one is free from all sinful reactions it is very difficult to understand Kṛṣṇa.

BG 18.66, Purport:

In the Seventh Chapter it was said that only one who has become free from all sinful reactions can take to the worship of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Thus one may think that unless he is free from all sinful reactions he cannot take to the surrendering process. To such doubts it is here said that even if one is not free from all sinful reactions, simply by the process of surrendering to Śrī Kṛṣṇa he is automatically freed.

Srimad-Bhagavatam

SB Canto 1

SB 1.1.1, Purport:

Unless one is thoroughly accomplished in the transcendental knowledge of the Lord, one is sure to misunderstand the Lord's worshipable transcendental pastimes called rāsa dance and His love affairs with the gopīs.

SB 1.2.5, Purport:

The human being, unless he is fast asleep at night, is busy with questions and answers.
