- A sisya, a disciple, comes to the guru for enlightenment. Everyone is born foolish. Everyone. Even the human being, because they are coming from the animal kingdom by evolution, so the birth is the same, ignorance, like animal
- A Vaisnava is praying guru: "Sir, you are devotee of Krsna. You can give me Krsna if you like." This is the position of sisya
- Actually, these discussions of scripture is not to be acted unless there is relationship between the speaker and the audience. So audience means the disciples. Disciple means who accepts the discipline. Sisya
- Arjuna knew that Krsna is the Supreme PG. So he said, sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam (BG 2.7): "Krsna, no more friendly talks. We are wasting time. Now I become Your disciple." Sisya means disciple. "You kindly advise me. I'm surrendering unto You
G
- Guru does not accept, although he is worshiped like Krsna, he never accepts that "I am Krsna." That is our parampara system. Sisya has to accept guru as Krsna, but guru will never accept that he is Krsna. This is our relationship
- Guru's business is not to exploit the sisya. It is the business, how to deliver. So who can deliver? Who is actually guru in the parampara system? Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh
I
- If we take the position of Arjuna - sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam - then Krsna will speak to the disciple like Arjuna, and everything will be clear
- It is the business of the guru, to deliver this disciple, sisya, from this blazing fire of samsara, samsrti, bandha, conditioned life, to save him from that position and give him the eternal happiness
S
- Sisya has to accept guru as Krsna
- Sisya I have several times explained, sas-dhatu. Who voluntarily accepts the ruling of a person, he is sisya. And otherwise, "You go on talking whatever nonsense you can. I'll do my own business," that is not sisya
- Sisya means one who accepts the authority of the spiritual master. He voluntarily accepts the rulings or the punishment of the spiritual master. That is called sisya
- Sisya means under the order, regulation. A person cannot disobey the order of guru. Then he is sisya. If he argues, he's not sisya
- Sisya means voluntarily accepting the ruling. Everyone is free. If I give you some ruling, why should you accept it? Therefore this formal initiation ceremony is performed. He promises - My dear sir, I shall abide by your order
- Sisya means who abides by the rules. Or English "discipline." Either you take English or Sanskrit, the same meaning. Sisya means who accepts the ruling of his spiritual master; and disciple means the same thing
- Sisya means who voluntarily accepts to be guided or being governed by the representative of God
- Sisya says, "My dear guru, if I do not eat meat and fish, my health will fail." "All right, I order you. Under my order you can do that." This kind of compromise from guru is not there. That is not guru
- So sisyas te 'ham sadhi mam prapannam. So similarly, we have to find out guru for perfect instruction. That is the only way
- Sometimes - because he (the spiritual master) is not Krsna - sometimes there is some trouble. Therefore Caitanya Mahaprabhu has forbidden, - Don't make many sisyas, many disciples
T
- The aspirant sisya will hear and study whether he's actually fit for becoming guru
- The student is called sisya. Sisya, the Sanskrit word sisya, this word comes from the root sas. Sas means ruling. From sas, the sastra. Sastra means authoritative books. They have been derived. And sastra. Sastra means weapons, armaments
- This (initiation) is the beginning of voluntary acceptance of the spiritual master. That means he agrees that he will abide by the orders of the spiritual master. This is called acceptance of spiritual master. Sisya
