- Advaitacarya, another principal disciple of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's, is accepted as an expansion of the Maha-Visnu. Thus Advaitacarya is also the Lord, or, more precisely, an expansion of the Lord
- After every dissolution of the material cosmos, all the living entities take shelter in the body of Karanodakasayi Visnu, and when creation takes place again, they come forth from His body in their various species to resume their activities

- Both of these visnu-tattvas (Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Maha-Visnu) are vasudeva-tattvas, and the great sages Kavi, Mahavira and Savana concentrated always upon the lotus feet of Lord Vasudeva, Krsna

- He (Krsna) and Arjuna immediately offered their respects to Lord Maha-Visnu by bowing down before Him
- He (Lord Maha-Visnu) appeared all-pervading and very powerful, and Arjuna could understand that the Supreme Personality of Godhead in that form is known as Purusottama
- He (Lord Maha-Visnu) is known as Purusottama, the supreme or best Personality of Godhead, because from this form emanates within the material world another form of Visnu, known as Garbhodakasayi Visnu

- He lay there with Ananta as His bed. Lord Ananta is a divine serpent having thousands of heads, thousands of faces, thousands of eyes and thousands of hands and feet. He is the seed of all incarnations and is the cause of the material world
- His (Caitanya's) pure devotees and His three purusa incarnations, namely, Karanodakasayi Visnu, Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Ksirodakasayi Visnu, always accompany the Supreme Lord to propound the sankirtana movement
- His (Maha-Visnu's) navel was very deep, and His abdomen was marked with three lines. His hips were broad and big, resembling those of a woman, and His thighs resembled the trunks of elephants
- His (Maha-Visnu) neck was decorated with the Kaustubha jewel, and His chest was marked with the symbol of Srivatsa, which means “the resting place of the goddess of fortune.”
- His necks were bluish, as were His tongues. Thus Arjuna saw the Sesa Naga form, and he also saw that on the very soft, white body of Sesa Naga, Lord Maha-Visnu was lying very comfortably

- I have thus explained the truth of the first Personality of Godhead, Maha-Visnu. I shall now explain the glories of the second Personality of Godhead
- I offer my full obeisances unto the feet of Nityananda Rama, whose partial representation called Karanodakasayi Visnu, lying on the Karana Ocean, is the original purusa, the master of the illusory energy, & the shelter of all the universes - CC Adi 1.9

- I say that this kala is Maha-Visnu. He is the Maha-purusa, who is the source of the other purusas and who is all-pervading
- I wanted to see both of you, and therefore I have brought the sons of the brahmana here. Both of you have appeared in the material world to reestablish religious principles, and you have both appeared here with all your potencies
- If that is so, the next question is this: Why would Maha-Visnu come to Dvaraka personally if He were not able to see Krsna? Why did He not send some of His associates to take away the sons of the brahmana?
- In due course of time, the Supreme Personality of Godhead (Maha-Vaikunthanatha), by the agency of an expansion of His personal self (Maha-Visnu), placed the seed of the living entities within the womb of material nature
- In one breathing of Maha-Visnu, you cannot calculate how many Manus are there. This is called unlimited. We say "unlimited," but we should have some knowledge how it is unlimited
- In spite of going up to the first purusa-avatara, Maha-visnu, after the dissolution of this material creation, such personalities (Brahma, Siva and the great rsis) again fall down or come back to the material creation

- In the Brahma-samhita it is said that all the material manifestations with innumerable universes appear and disappear with the breathing of Maha-visnu lying in yoga-nidra, or mystic sleep
- In the Brahma-samhita it is stated that Lord Siva, who is another form of Maha-Visnu, is like yogurt. Yogurt is nothing but milk, yet it is not milk
- In the maha-kalpa the Lord assumes the first purusa incarnation as Karanodakasayi Visnu with all the potencies of the mahat-tattva and the sixteen principles of creative matter and instruments
- In the tenth and eleventh verses Krsnadasa Kaviraja describes Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Ksirodakasayi Visnu, successive plenary expansions of Maha-Visnu. Brahma appears upon a lotus growing from the navel of Garbhodakasayi Visnu - CC Intro
- In the Vedic literature, we find the creation described in relationship to Maha-Visnu. As stated in the Brahma-samhita - BS 5.38
- Inert material nature is not the actual cause of the material manifestation, for Karanarnavasayi, Maha-Visnu, the plenary expansion of Krsna, activates all the ingredients. It is in this way that material nature has the power to supply the ingredients
- Infinite universes with their infinite planets within are floating on and are produced from the Brahman effulgence emanating from the transcendental body of Maha-Visnu, who is worshiped by Brahma, the presiding deity of the universe
- It has been described in many places before this that the Lord assumed a gigantic body, like that of Karanodakasayi Visnu, from whose hair pores innumerable universes have generated
- It is said in the Vedic literature that innumerable universes issue forth when Maha-Visnu exhales in His yoga-nidra and that innumerable universes enter His body when He inhales
- It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam that Lord Krsna offered respect to Maha-Visnu; this means that Krsna offered obeisances unto none other than Himself, because Lord Maha-Visnu is nondifferent from Krsna Himself
- It is stated there (Mrtyunjaya-tantra) that the highest planetary system within the material world is Satyaloka, or Brahmaloka, beyond which are Rudraloka and Maha-Visnuloka
- It is the function of Maha-sankarsana in the form of Karanodakasayi Visnu to glance over the material creation, which is situated beyond the limits of the Causal Ocean
- It is understood from the speech of Maha-Visnu that He was very eager to see Krsna. It may be said, however, that since Maha-Visnu took away the brahmana's sons, He must certainly have gone to Dvaraka to do so. Therefore, why did He not see Krsna there?
- It is understood that the Maha-Visnu is the source of all incarnations in the material world. But because of His greater extraordinary opulence, we can understand that the son of Nanda Maharaj is the source of the Maha-Visnu also
- It was Maha-Visnu's plan that the brahmana would accuse the ksatriyas and Krsna, and Krsna would be obliged to come see Him to take back the brahmana's sons

- Just as a woman can deliver a child after being impregnated by the semen of a man, so material nature can supply the material elements after being glanced upon by Maha-Visnu
- Just as innumerable atomic infinitesimal fragments pass through the holes of a screened window, so millions and trillions of universes in their seedling form are coming out from the bodily pores of Maha-Visnu

- Karanodakasayi Visnu is the Supersoul of the collective universes, Garbhodakasayi Visnu is the Supersoul of the collective living beings, and Ksirodakasayi Visnu is the Supersoul of all individual living entities
- Karanodakasayi Visnu, who lies on the Causal Ocean, creates the universes merely by glancing upon material nature. Therefore Krsna personally has nothing to do with the material creation
- Krsna includes the three purusa incarnations, namely Maha-Visnu, Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Ksirodakasayi Visnu, as well as all the incarnations taken together. This is confirmed in the Brahma-samhita. Ramadi-murtisu kala-niyamena tisthan - BS 5.39
- Krsna is the origin of all visnu-tattvas, including Maha-Visnu, Garbhodakasayi Visnu and Ksirodakasayi Visnu. He is the ultimate goal of Vaisnava philosophy. Everything emanates from Him
- Krsna is the origin. Therefore Krsna says, aham sarvasya prabhavah. Sarvasya means even this Maha-Visnu, Garbhodakasayi Visnu, Ksirodakasayi Visnu, Narayana, Sankarsana, Aniruddha, Pradyumna - everything
- Krsna, as Garbhodakasayi Visnu, is within the gigantic universe, and He is lying in the Causal Ocean as Maha-Visnu, in a body so gigantic that when He exhales, millions and trillions of universes emanate from His body
- Kurus said, "When the time for dissolution comes, You (Balarama) close up the whole cosmic manifestation within Yourself. At that time, nothing remains but Yourself lying in the Causal Ocean as Maha-Visnu"

- Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Purusottama, Lord Krsna, who is always free from the contamination of the six material dualities; whose plenary expansion, Maha-Visnu, glances over matter to create the cosmic manifestation
- Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto the original Personality of Godhead, Govinda, whose plenary portion is the Maha-Visnu
- Lord Krsna and Arjuna then offered their obeisances to Lord Maha-Visnu, and, taking back the brahmana's children, they returned to Dvaraka via the same route by which they had entered the spiritual world

- Lord Visnu continued, "I have been expecting to see you both at this palace. You have appeared in the material world as My incarnations in order to minimize the force of the demoniac persons who burden the world"

- Maha-sankarsana, Karanodakasayi, Garbhodakasayi, Ksirodakasayi, and Sesa. These five plenary portions are responsible for both the spiritual and material cosmic manifestations. In these five forms Lord Balarama assists Lord Krsna in His activities
- Maha-Visnu again enters every universe as the reservoir of all living entities, Garbhodakasayi Visnu. From Garbhodakasayi Visnu expands Ksirodakasayi Visnu, the Supersoul of every living entity

- Maha-Visnu had actually stolen the sons of the brahmana in Dvaraka so that Krsna and Arjuna would come visit Him. This verse (CC Madhya 8.146) is quoted to show that Krsna is so attractive that He attracts Maha-Visnu
- Maha-Visnu in the Causal Ocean and Ksirodakasayi Visnu, the Supersoul in everyone’s heart, are also transcendental expansions of the Supreme Truth
- Maha-Visnu is a plenary expansion of Sankarsana, who is a plenary expansion of Narayana. Narayana is a plenary expansion of the catur-vyuha, and the catur-vyuha are plenary expansions of Baladeva, the first manifestation of Krsna

- Maha-Visnu is the Supersoul of all the universes. Lying on the Causal Ocean, He is the master of all material worlds
- Maha-visnu lies on the Causal Ocean, and when He exhales, millions of brahmandas, or universes, come from the pores of His body. Then, when Maha-visnu inhales, all these brahmandas disappear
- Maha-Visnu performs all the functions for the creation of the universes. Sri Advaita Acarya is His direct incarnation
- Maha-Visnu possessed dazzling beauty, and His palms were like lotus flowers. He was further beautified by the different emblems of the visnu-murti - the conchshell, club, disc and lotus flower - which He held in His four hands
- Maha-Visnu said, "My dear Krsna and Arjuna, I was very eager to see you both, and therefore I arranged to take away the babies of the brahmana and keep them here"
- Maha-Visnu took away the brahmana's sons one after another just after their births so that Krsna would come personally to the Casual Ocean to retrieve them, and then Maha-Visnu would be able to see Him there
- Maha-Visnu's chest was marked with the particular signs of Visnu, and He wore fresh flower garlands. All in all, He was very beautiful to look at
- Maha-Visnu's real manifestation is Lord Krsna
- Maha-visnu, from whose breathing millions of universes emanate and into whom they are again withdrawn, may be accepted as the Lord of the universe

- One of the expansions of Maha-Visnu is Ksirodakasayi Visnu, the Supersoul within every living entity. As the Supersoul of the total aggregate of living entities, or the second purusa, He is known as Garbhodakasayi Visnu

- Seeing Krsna offering obeisances to Lord Maha-Visnu, he immediately followed Him and then stood before the Lord with folded hands. After this, the gigantic form of Maha-Visnu, greatly pleased, smiled pleasingly and spoke as follows

- Stated in Brahma-samhita, "Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Govinda, whose partial representation is the Maha-Visnu"
- Still another question may be raised: If Maha-Visnu cannot see Krsna, then how was Krsna obliged to come before Him after all to take back the sons of the brahmana?
- Superficially we see that these purusas have a relationship with maya, but above them, in the fourth dimension, is Lord Krsna, who has no contact with the material energy

- That Causal Ocean there is, I mean to say, completely in the whole ocean, big gigantic body is lying down there. That is known as Karanodakasayi Visnu. The Visnu in that gigantic form is sleeping within the water of that Causal Ocean
- That Maha-purusa (Karanodakasayi Visnu) is known as a plenary part of Him who is Lord Nityananda Balarama, the favorite associate of Lord Caitanya

- The Lord then, by His plenary portion as Maha-Visnu, lies down within the water of the mahat-tattva, and the water is called the Causal Ocean - Karana-jala

- Vasudeva said, "Both of You (Krsna and Balarama) are transcendental to this material manifestation and to its cause, the Supreme Person, Maha-Visnu. You are the original controller of all"
- Vasudeva said, "You (Krsna) were lying in the Causal Ocean as Maha-Visnu, and by Your breathing process, innumerable universes came into existence. Then You entered into each of the universes as Garbhodakasayi Visnu"

- We cannot imagine the duration of one breath of the Maha-Visnu, for within one breath all of the universes are created and annihilated

- When the whole world is annihilated, all living entities again enter into the body of Maha-Visnu. When there is again creation, the living entities again come out, according to their past position. We do not accept Darwin's rascal theory
