- A devotee must be there, and Krsna must be there. Then all opulences will come. That is the secret. Why a devotee shall go to the forest for meditating or acquiring some mystic powers?
- A person who has no mother at home and wife is not agreeable with him should immediately go away to the forest. Human life is meant for spiritual advancement only, one's wife must be helpful in this endeavor. Otherwise there is no need of household life
- According to the system of varnasrama-dharma, one who is over fifty years of age must leave home, go to the forest and completely devote his life to spiritual realization. This is the actual varnasrama-dharma system
- According to Vedic civilization, to live in the forest is residential quarter in goodness, to live in the forest. Therefore, formerly, great sages and saintly persons, they used to go to the forest and live there

- This andha-kupam, dark well of ignorance, one must give up. - Then vanam gato yad dharim asrayeta (SB 7.5.5): "He must go to vana." When one goes to vana, it is called vanaprastha
- To go to the forest and live there with the animals, meditating upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the only means by which to give up lusty desires. Unless one gives up such desires, one's mind cannot be freed from material contamination

- When Saubhari Muni, who was quite conversant with the self, went to the forest, he performed severe penances. In this way, in the fire at the time of death, he ultimately engaged himself in the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- When the husband is king, she (the chaste wife) sits beside him as the queen, and when he goes to the forest, she also follows, despite having to tolerate all kinds of difficulties in living in the forest
