- A devotee following the principles of bhagavata-dharma feels very much obligated to the Supreme Personality of Godhead
- A devotee is determined to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead to His full satisfaction. Anything that hampers such determination should certainly be rejected. This is the principle of bhakti. Anukulyasya sankalpah pratikulyasya varjanam
- A devotee should not hanker after anything, but he should be satisfied with things that may automatically come to him by the will of the Lord. That should be the principle of a devotional life
- A person gradually reaches this stage (of anartha-nivrtti) by regularly performing the primary principles of devotional service under the guidance of the spiritual master
