Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Lectures

"Teacher." Still, he'll not say "Kṛṣṇa." Kṛṣṇa-phobia. (laughter) You see?
Lecture on CC Adi-lila 7.107-109 -- San Francisco, February 15, 1967:

Satsvarūpa: Read the commentation?

Prabhupāda: No, that particular verse, ahaṁ sarvasya... Is there any commentation?

Satsvarūpa: Yes, there is.

Prabhupāda: What is that?

Satsvarūpa: "The teacher speaks now as the Lord. As..."

Prabhupāda: "Teacher." Still, he'll not say "Kṛṣṇa." Kṛṣṇa-phobia. (laughter) You see? He's always thinking, "If I say 'Kṛṣṇa,' oh, then I'll be in trouble." This is the demonic tendency, and that is also explained in the Bhagavad-gītā: na māṁ prapadyante mūḍhāḥ duṣkṛtino narādhamāḥ [Bg. 7.15]. The rascals and the lowest of the mankind, narādhama, and the asses and the, I mean, the nonsense—mūḍha—means ass, simply work for others. He has no self-interest. Ass.

Conversations and Morning Walks

1976 Conversations and Morning Walks

They are Hare Kṛṣṇa phobia; they are afraid.
Room Conversation with Ambarisa and Catholic Priest -- June 14, 1976, Detroit:

Ambarīṣa: We're charging anywhere between three and eight dollars. Eight dollars for a very big, many preparations and different nectars and very sumptuous feast for eight dollars. And then if you just want a sandwich or something a little smaller you can pay just three dollars. We think we'll be making about half a million dollars a year, which will all go to you, Prabhupāda. (laughter)

Devotee: So we couldn't call the restaurant the "Hare Kṛṣṇa Restaurant" because there were some restrictions in the block, so we were thinking we'd call it "Saṅkīrtana." That's okay?

Prabhupāda: Oh, yes. They are Hare Kṛṣṇa phobia; they are afraid.

Śrutikīrti and Ambarīṣa: Yes.

Prabhupāda: You have suggested "Saṅkīrtana"?

Ambarīṣa: Yes, they think that is nice. They do not know what that means.

Prabhupāda: Just like our Haridāsa. You know Haridāsa? Bombay?

Ambarīṣa: Yes, uh-huh.

Prabhupāda: He, Moscow, he was chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa on the street, and when people asked "What is this?" "This is cinema song."

Ambarīṣa: Sometimes as devotees we have to be a little bit crooked.

Prabhupāda: (indistinct) We shall do everything as the material person does, karmīs do, but we have to do everything for Kṛṣṇa, not person. Then it is all right.

1977 Conversations and Morning Walks

Kṛṣṇa phobia. And that is my idea. Let there be repeatedly the sounding, "Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa."
Conversation Pieces -- May 27, 1977, Vrndavana:

Rāmeśvara: Two million copies sold by the end of this year.

Prabhupāda: At least they are under... Two million people know what is Kṛṣṇa.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: You can't read that book and not know Kṛṣṇa.

Prabhupāda: Hm?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: If you read that book, you have to know something about Kṛṣṇa. Every page is about Kṛṣṇa, every word. One professor complained that the trouble with your books is that everywhere you talk about Kṛṣṇa. Even when Kṛṣṇa's name isn't there, you put it there. (laughter)

Prabhupāda: Kṛṣṇa phobia. And that is my idea. Let there be repeatedly the sounding, "Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa." Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa he. They want to avoid it, and I don't allow.
