- A Brahman realized person is always happy. Na socati na kanksati: he neither laments nor aspires for anything
- A dying man comes under the clutches of death and lies down, surrounded by lamenting friends and relatives, and although he wants to speak with them, he no longer can because he is under the control of time
- A godless civilization arises from illusion, and the result of such a civilization is lamentation. A godless civilization, such as that sponsored by the modern politicians, is always full of anxieties because it may be crushed at any moment

- False lamentation
- Fatness, thinness, bodily & mental distress, thirst, hunger, fear, disagreement, desires for material happiness, old age, sleep, attachment for material possessions, anger & lamentation are all transformations of the material covering of the spirit soul
- For him (the learned man who knows that the body is destined to be vanquished today or tomorrow) there is no cause for lamentation, regardless of the condition of the material body. BG 1972 purports
- From the birth, as I have explained, everyone is sudra. Sudra means one who laments. That is called sudra. For a slight loss or slight inconvenience, one who laments, he is called sudra. And brahmins means one who tolerates. A sudra has no toleration

- Happiness and distress is the cause of socati and kanksati. Kanksati means desiring to have something. This is distress. And lamenting for something, that is also distress. Actually, this is the material position
- Having been elevated to that platform (of devotional service), Ajamila began to lament for his past materialistic activities and glorify the name, fame, form and pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead

- He dared not pick up his weapon again. Vrtrasura, however, encouraged him, saying, "Take up your thunderbolt and kill your enemy. This is not the time to lament your fate"
- He is the self-sufficient Supreme Personality of Godhead, and nothing is lamentable for Him. Therefore why else could He be subjected to tribulations by the kidnapping of mother Sita?

- Krsna cannot be polluted by any sinful activity, Krsna never dies, Krsna never becomes old, Krsna is never subject to lamentation, Krsna is never hungry, and He is never thirsty

- Lamentation and humility awoke within Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and He began reciting another of His own verses. By hearing the meaning of that verse, one can forget all unhappiness and lamentation
- Lamentation and illusion are described herein (SB 4.26.1-3) as dvi-kubara, the two posts of bondage
- Lamentation is that the person within the body, whether he's going to hell or heaven. Urdhvam gacchanti or tamo gacchanti. That is real concern. Body will be finished, today or tomorrow or after a hundred years. Who can protect it?
