Local boys

Correspondence

1968 Correspondence

I am therefore training local boys and girls for kirtana and very soon we shall be out on world tour with this kirtana party.
Letter to Sri Krishnaji -- Los Angeles 1 March, 1968: I am therefore training local boys and girls for kirtana and very soon we shall be out on world tour with this kirtana party. In India, however, many rich business men maybe ready to spend this amount to spread the kirtana movement. But the Govt. will not allow us to spend Indian money in such fashion without special sanction. I have written to authorities at the Govt. of India for sanction, but I have received no reply til now. You assured me that you would be able to get such sanction from Dr. Zakir Hussein but you are now silent on this format. Why not take sanction from him for this purpose and I will arrange money from India.

1969 Correspondence

I thought I was to do this humble service to His Divine Grace, and by His blessings, I am getting good cooperation from the local boys and girls. That is my satisfaction.
Letter to Satya Pal -- Hamburg 31 August, 1969: Now there is great necessity to train preachers in all the camps of our Godbrothers and send them all over the world. Of course, they must be impregnated with real preaching spirit, without any material profit. Whenever I ask somebody to take this job, they are silent. They are simply satisfied with some Mathas, and they have forgotten the preaching spirit of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja. When none of them came to preach outside of India, I thought I was to do this humble service to His Divine Grace, and by His blessings, I am getting good cooperation from the local boys and girls. That is my satisfaction. Otherwise, none of my Godbrothers is helping me substantially.

1970 Correspondence

Letter to Mukunda -- Los Angeles 1 April, 1970: Yes, I am going to the newly purchased church Temple and when I go there by Sunday next, I shall try to teach the local boys in the way of performing Sankirtana in a circle. I shall send to you the sound production with photographs if possible, and instructions also.
The program as we have followed with good success is to find out some local boy who is well acquainted with the English language and train him to preach to the general less educated public.
Letter to Upendra -- Bombay 21 November, 1970: I have seen your leaflet and it is very nice. Regarding Hindi BTG, several hundred copies will be sent to you as soon as they are received by us. Yes. As you have noted the youth are our most potential source of converts to Krsna Consciousness. I do not think it is necessary for you to spend time unnecessarily at this time of your life to learn some foreign languages, but the program as we have followed with good success is to find out some local boy who is well acquainted with the English language and train him to preach to the general less educated public. This is the best system and do not be hopeless because you are sure to find such a helper very soon.

1972 Correspondence

You are learning Japanese language, that's all right, but it will be better for our preaching and translating work if the local boys and girls can perform such work.
Letter to Sudama -- Bombay 4 February, 1972: Without books, how can our preaching go on? I will be very glad if you can print Bhagavad-gita As It Is in Japanese version, and that will be sufficient to convince many Japanese boys and girls to become devotees of Krishna. You are learning Japanese language, that's all right, but it will be better for our preaching and translating work if the local boys and girls can perform such work, instead of us wasting so much time by learning difficult languages. So if you spend your time to engage many native persons to translate for us, and train them up in our Krishna philosophy at the same time, that will be a better use of our time; but if you think it is necessary in order to establish this Movement that you learn Japanese language, then it is all right, but generally I do not think it is absolutely necessary.

1973 Correspondence

Letter to Tamala Krsna -- Mayapur 5 June, 1973: Regarding Hrsikesa das, he may come here to Mayapur and I will discuss with him what his engagement shall be. He speaks fluent Bengali, so he may teach the local boys here at our school.

1974 Correspondence

Letter to Sudama Vipra -- Los Angeles 16 July, 1974: Yes, it will be very nice if the Chinese boys come there to the Hong Kong center. That is our mission that that the local boys take up interest in our movement.

1975 Correspondence

Most important the local boys, Indians, are coming, and now they want to do something. They are convinced that this is a good movement.
Letter to Bhagavan -- Mauritius 5 October, 1975: Most important the local boys, Indians, are coming, and now they want to do something. They are convinced that this is a good movement. They are organizing a program of getting boys from the villages for me to instruct them. So I am prepared to personally take up this program and remain here. The boys here are educated and intelligent and speak English and especially French.
