Conversations and Morning Walks

1972 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- June 14, 1972, Los Angeles:

Ātreya Ṛṣi(?): Their biggest industry is the war industry.

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Ātreya Ṛṣi(?): War, killing.

Prabhupāda: So, how they can (indistinct)? They do not know and do not actually want to see people enlightened. It is not their policy. It is simply make some show. Show means spend another set-up amount, investigation. Their men, the government men, they'll get money, that's all.

1973 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- April 19, 1973, Los Angeles:

Prabhupāda: Ca ca canh, ca ca canh, ca ca canh, ca ca canh, ca ca canh... That's all. They're thinking: "Oh, we're talking very nicely." The result is the snake, they find out here is a (unclear). Pop. Finish. So this ca ca canh, scientists, means when death comes, oh, everything's finished. That's all. All their ca ca canh, scientific investigation, finished. And he becomes a dog, cat and something like that. That's all. Therefore mūḍhāḥ. They do not know that "I have got this valuable life, human form of life, advanced intelligence. I'll have to take lesson from Kṛṣṇa, and make my life successful." They do not know that. Ca ca canh, ca ca canh, ca ca canh, ca ca canh. And then die, and become again. When he dies, there is no question of science and talking nonsense. That is under the grip of nature. "Yes, come on. Enter this body. Finished." Just like the rascal rogue. He's very much proud of his strength. And the police comes arrest: "Come on. Enter this custody. Finished." It is like that.

Morning Walk -- April 21, 1973, Los Angeles:

Svarūpa Dāmodara: So, Śrīla Prabhupāda, they're concluding, the scientists, that without having the real knowledge of their investigation. Because they are concluding that life started from matter, but there's no proof.

Prabhupāda: No proof. How they can say so? (pause) If they accept that life started from life, then they'll have to accept God, the Supreme Person. Just like by practical experience we see one life is produced by another life. The father, mother begets a child. Not that a child drops from the sky.

1974 Conversations and Morning Walks

Room Conversation with Biochemist, Dr. Sallaz -- June 4, 1974, Geneva:

Yogeśvara: He says among their members, many of them are spiritually inclined So they have investigated the ancient scriptures from China and Mexico, all over the world, and they found that if you go down far enough in the philosophy, it is the same truth.

Prabhupāda: Yes, truth is for everyone—if it is truth. Truth cannot be different. Chinese truth is different from Indian truth. That cannot be. Truth is the truth, provided it is truth. You take something myth as truth—that is different thing. So the truth is that this body is formed on the basis of that spiritual spark. That is the truth.

1975 Conversations and Morning Walks

Room Conversation with Svarupa Damodara -- February 28, 1975, Atlanta:

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Proof is under investigation. (laughter)

Prabhupāda: Eh? That is nonsense. That is nonsense. This proof, that from life, life is coming, there is proof, so many proof. A man, animal, trees—everything is coming from life. Up till now, nobody has seen that a man is born from a stone. Nobody has seen. Sometimes it is called vṛścika-taṇdūla-nyāya. You know that? Vṛścika-taṇdūla-nyāya. Vṛścika means scorpion, and taṇdūla means rice. Sometimes we see some heaps of rice, the scorpion is coming. But that is not that the rice has given birth to the scorpion.

Conversation with the GBC -- March 27, 1975, Mayapur:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Just as a question...

Prabhupāda: Just like I appointed the committee to investigate...

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Bali Mardana.

Prabhupāda: Yes. So that committee is not standing. Yet similarly, a committee may be formed for some special circumstances, but otherwise the GBC committee is sufficient.

Conversation with the GBC -- March 27, 1975, Mayapur:

Prabhupāda: Be appointed. Do this. Be appointed.

Atreya Ṛṣi: Yes. We will.

Prabhupāda: Yes, do this.

Atreya Ṛṣi: To investigate this whole...

Prabhupāda: Why...? Just stop this complaint.

Atreya Ṛṣi: This whole membership program.

Prabhupāda: I am giving you the appointment. Do it.

Morning Walk -- August 25, 1975, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: So what they are doing?

Dhanañjaya: Well, Praṇava, he was investigating.

Prabhupāda: Investigating for life. Whole life, simply investigating.

Dhanañjaya: But now, since the rains have been here, this whole countryside has become very, very green. It seems like the land is very fertile. Grass is growing so profusely like this.

Prabhupāda: Arrange a meeting with the D.M.

Morning Walk -- August 25, 1975, Vrndavana:

Jayapatāka: When the schools allow outside professional teachers into the institutions, then they seem to go down.

Prabhupāda: Yes, immediately.

Jayapatāka: I was investigating in West Bengal. So long as you have your own teachers and you don't take any aid from them, then all they have to do is see that your grounds are up to the..., buildings are up to the standard. They don't have much say.

Prabhupāda: That we want. Jaya. (kīrtana in background)

Room Conversation with the Rector, Professor Olivier and Professors of the University of Durban, Westville -- October 8, 1975, Durban:

Prabhupāda: So the transmigration of the soul, you take it as religion. It is not a science.

Professor: We haven't progressed so far.

Prabhupāda: But so far we are concerned, that is the basic principle of our further investigation in religion.

1976 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- April 10, 1976, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: So why you are bothering with that? Let it be accepted or not accepted. Worship Him.

Akṣayānanda: Not that important.

Prabhupāda: That is the important thing. (break) A man is diseased. He has gone to the physician. So whether is the first duty to investigate wherefrom the disease came or to cure him? Which is important?

Yaśodānandana: To cure.

Room Conversation -- July 6, 1976, Washington, D.C.:

Prabhupāda: Then why they bother about bringing rock from there?

Svarūpa Dāmodara: To investigate more.

Prabhupāda: What is investigation? Simply bluff.

Hari-śauri: Similar rocks are available here, because the same rock was taken from here.

Prabhupāda: If the rock is the same, so why not living beings there?

Room Conversation About Mayapura Construction -- August 19, 1976, Hyderabad:

Gargamuni: Because we're under investigation and they're also being investigated, so they don't want to endanger... The government is every day raiding the houses of the rich people.

Prabhupāda: Anyway, what is the investigation?

Jayapatākā: They are being investigated for income tax.

1977 Conversations and Morning Walks

Room Conversation -- January 20, 1977, Bhuvanesvara:

Prabhupāda: Hm. So I have no objection. Money can be supplied, but it may not be another burden. That's it.

Gargamuni: No, we'll investigate the ship because in Calcutta is a very big center of shipbuilding.

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Room Conversation With Son (Vrindavan De) -- July 5, 1977, Vrndavana:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: There's nothing. There's nothing to anger anybody. Simply the main thing is that it's a big hoax. So now it's being investigated by the...

Prabhupāda: Ācchā?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Oh, yes. It's being investigated by a Congressional subcommittee in America now, Transcendental Meditation. But there's no individual parents getting angry because it doesn't change anything.

Prabhupāda: No.

Room Conversation -- July 27-28, 1977, Vrndavana:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: But we should take advantage of this and say, "Oh, there is an issue there? Then let us investigate." We should take advantage of this.

Prabhupāda: Yes. The party should take very serious investigation, and if possible, suspend government for the time being.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Suspend the West Bengal government.

Prabhupāda: So that will be nice step.

Prabhupada Vigil -- November 1, 1977, Vrndavana:

Brahmānanda: I think now that our books are coming out in the Indian languages and are being distributed, I think this will cause young Indians...

Prabhupāda: Young Indians are not... They have already published these things. Scientific investigation of matter.

Brahmānanda: Yes, they appreciated that we are preaching to the scientists. They liked that, that we're the only ones who are doing this, because the scientists are amongst the biggest atheists.
