Friction (Conv. and Letters)

Conversations and Morning Walks

1975 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- June 2, 1975, Honolulu:

Prabhupāda: The cloud is standing there. It is not systematic. Then why the gravitation is not working? There are millions and millions tons of water. Why the gravitation is not working? The law of gravitation, why it is not working? Don't work with a rod.(?) What is the answer? They are not systematic changing. Why? Why the gravitation is not working, fall down? They are heavy, very heavy when they, what is called... Agitation. What is called?

Śrutakīrti: Friction.

Prabhupāda: Friction, yes. There is so much sound. So why it is not falling down?

Indian man: The scientist says the pull of gravitation starts only so high.

Prabhupāda: Why it is not working in all heights? Then what is their theory? If it is working under certain condition, who made this condition? (break) ...the nature, "Now you get down these islands. Get(?) the water," can they do that?

Morning Walk -- Durban, October 13, 1975 :

Prabhupāda: Victim of European propaganda. He used to take "Anything Indian, bad. Anything Indian, bad." Not only he. Later on, all the so-called educated persons, they took it for granted that "Whatever is done in London, that is first-class, and whatever is Indian original, that is all bad." And they controlled the native princes. So many things. It is a big history, how they killed India's original culture. And then Hindu-Muslim riots, friction, fighting between Hindus and Muslims and dividing them.

Morning Walk -- December 12, 1975, Vrndavana:

Akṣayānanda: Somebody has started that light, that fire.

Prabhupāda: So in this way the nonsense scientists are going on. What do you think? Eh?

Harikeśa: So this idea of friction causing electricity, so is electricity—this electrical energy—the source of fire? That's what the scientists think sometimes too, that the lightning bolt came down and made a fire. And that was man's first experience of fire as a caveman.

Akṣayānanda: So where did the lightning bolt come from?

Prabhupāda: Yes. How the lightning was manufactured, rascal?

Morning Walk -- December 12, 1975, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: Because in the air there is sound. Therefore ether is there. It is a production of the ether.

Harikeśa: So would it be beneficial to try to understand the process of production? Like the example of the earth coming from the water. Because the water evaporates, there is left over minerals and salts and all these things...

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Harikeśa: And the fire producing the water from excess heat. Like in the summer season and then the monsoon comes. And fire from air, from the friction generating electric current. But the air from the ether needs an example.

Prabhupāda: Air from the ether because when the air blows, you find the sound, sshhhh. That is ether.

1976 Conversations and Morning Walks

Morning Walk -- June 18, 1976, Toronto:

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: When it snows on the highways, trucks come and they pour salt so it keeps the snow melting. More friction on the road for the tires.

Prabhupāda: Wine and cigarettes, just like here you can purchase by slot. What is called?

Hari-śauri: Machine.

Prabhupāda: Machine. Yes. You pay and get cigarette and tin can. There are many boxes like that on the street, public street. And they pass urine on the road. There is no restriction, standing apart.

Garden Conversation -- September 3, 1976, Vrndavana:

Prabhupāda: They go from one planet to another.

Caraṇāravindam: It is like a big plane. Bigger than jet.

Prabhupāda: And while flying they lay down eggs. And the eggs, while falling down, they become birds. By the, what is called?

Hari-śauri: Friction?

Prabhupāda: No, no. When they, what it is called. Velocity of falling down, it becomes fomented, and then the birds come out. Just like parasites. No? Parachute?

1977 Conversations and Morning Walks

Room Conversation -- April 10, 1977, Bombay:

Prabhupāda: The heat is produced by the, what is called, motion.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yeah, friction.

Prabhupāda: Friction. And they become bird.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: And their food?

Prabhupāda: Food, go to one planet.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: They eat big quantities.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Big quantities mean according to... The ant is eating its quantity; elephant is eating.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: And Garuḍa eats...

Prabhupāda: Whatever eating, he can eat. God has supplied.

Correspondence

1969 Correspondence

Letter to Gargamuni -- Hamburg 8 September, 1969:

But one thing is you must stop this fighting between brothers. Otherwise the whole program will be spoiled. Yourself, Tamala Krishna, Brahmananda, Satsvarupa—you should do everything combinedly. That is my request. Gradually, by Krishna's Grace, we are expanding. So if amongst ourselves there is friction, it will be very dangerous. So after my return to the States I shall make it more firm so there may not be any dissension.

Letter to Brahmananda -- Tittenhurst 28 September, 1969:

Regarding MacMillan's letter, I have forwarded the same to Gargamuni and Tamala for consultation before final decision. I have not heard anything from them till now. If the matter is urgent, you can consult with them and whatever you all decide, that is my decision. Now, gradually I am trying to hand over the management to the reliable hands of my disciples, and you should all work by joint consultation, without any friction. Now, by the Grace of Krishna, we are expanding and we must work in such a way that our society may stand a solid institution. In this connection I shall request you not to circulate all my letters that I address to you. Letters are sometimes personal and confidential, and if all letters are circulated, it may react reversely.
