SB Canto 2

The neophytes, due to their being in the lower stage of devotional service, are invariably envious, so much so that they invent their own ways and means of devotional regulations without following the ācāryas

SB 2.3.24, Purport: The whole process can be summarized as follows: The advanced devotee who chants the holy name of the Lord in a perfectly offenseless manner and is friendly to everyone can actually relish the transcendental taste of glorifying the Lord. And the result of such realization is reflected in the cessation of all material desires, etc., as mentioned above. The neophytes, due to their being in the lower stage of devotional service, are invariably envious, so much so that they invent their own ways and means of devotional regulations without following the acaryas. As such, even if they make a show of constantly chanting the holy name of the Lord, they cannot relish the transcendental taste of the holy name. Therefore, the show of tears in the eyes, trembling, perspiration or unconsciousness, etc., is condemned. They can, however, get in touch with a pure devotee of the Lord and rectify their bad habits; otherwise they shall continue to be stonehearted and unfit for any treatment. A complete progressive march on the return path home, back to Godhead, will depend on the instructions of the revealed scriptures directed by a realized devotee.

SB Canto 4

Thus this behavior is not only mentioned in scriptures but also followed by ācāryas. Pṛthu Mahārāja advised his citizens to follow the exemplary behavior of the Lord Himself and thus engage in the service of brāhmaṇas and Vaiṣṇavas

SB 4.21.39, Purport: It is said that the Lord is most pleased when He sees one engage in the service of His devotee. He does not need any service from anyone because He is complete, but it is in our own interest to offer all kinds of services to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. These services can be offered to the Supreme Person not directly but through the service of brahmanas and Vaisnavas. Srila Narottama dasa Thakura sings, chadiya vaisnava-seva nistara payeche keba, which means that unless one serves the Vaisnavas and brahmanas, one cannot get liberation from the material clutches. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura also says, yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasadah: ** by satisfying the senses of the spiritual master, one can satisfy the senses of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Thus this behavior is not only mentioned in scriptures but also followed by acaryas. Prthu Maharaja advised his citizens to follow the exemplary behavior of the Lord Himself and thus engage in the service of brahmanas and Vaisnavas.

If we follow the ācāryas, we attain the same benefit as our predecessors. If one follows the decisions of Arjuna, he should be considered to be directly hearing Bhagavad-gītā from the Supreme Personality of Godhead

SB 4.30.10, Purport: One who offers prayers to the Lord to fulfill his different desires must know that the highest perfectional fulfillment of desire is to go back home, back to Godhead. In this verse it is indicated that those who remember the activities of the Pracetas, the sons of King Pracinabarhisat, will be delivered and blessed. So what to speak of the sons of King Pracinabarhisat, who are directly connected with the Supreme Personality of Godhead? This is the way of the parampara system. If we follow the acaryas, we attain the same benefit as our predecessors. If one follows the decisions of Arjuna, he should be considered to be directly hearing Bhagavad-gita from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. There is no difference between hearing Bhagavad-gita directly from the Supreme Lord and following a personality like Arjuna, who formerly heard Bhagavad-gita directly from the Lord.

Lectures

Bhagavad-gita As It Is Lectures

So we have to follow the ācāryas. All these ācāryas accept Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Lord

Introduction to Gitopanisad: So here is the supreme teacher, Krsna. Krsna is accepted as the supreme teacher by everyone, by all the great sages formerly, like Vyasadeva, Narada, Devala, Asita. All other great sages. And recently, in the modern age, by our acaryas, Sri Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Ramanuja, yes, Sankaracarya, Visnu Svami. All these great sages, great acaryas, they came from your South India. So you are fortunate in that sense. So we have to follow the acaryas. All these acaryas accept Krsna, the Supreme Lord. All these acaryas. And later, lately, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, five hundred years ago, He also accepted that Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Krsnas tu bhagavan svayam [SB 1.3.28]. That is the acceptance in the Srimad-Bhagavatam.

And one who does not follow the ācāryas and creates and manufactures his mental concoction, his version will not be accepted

Introduction to Gitopanisad: In the Bhagavad-gita also, we find: acaryopasanam. We have to follow the footprints, footsteps, of the acaryas, because they can give us right direction. And one who does not follow the acaryas and creates and manufactures his mental concoction, his version will not be accepted. There are many different commentaries on the Bhagavad-gita, but not all of them are according to the direction of the acaryas. You have to accept Bhagavad-gita as it is under the direction of the acaryas. They do not make any change. They explain how Krsna is the greatest. Not that comment in a different way and deviate you that Krsna is ordinary man.

One who is ācāryavān, one who is following ācārya, he knows things as they are

Introduction to Gitopanisad: n India, our culture, Vedic culture, depending on acaryas. Even we differ, we Vaisnavas... There are Vaisnava acaryas, and there is Mayavadi acaryas. So Sankaracarya, he is Mayavadi, impersonalist; still, he accepts Krsna, (as) the Supreme Personality of Godhead, sa bhagavan svayam krsnah devaki-nandanah. He has written in his commentary on the Bhagavad-gita. He accepts. Narayanah parah avyaktat, sa bhagavan narayanah krsnah. He has accepted. And what to speak of Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya and other acaryas. Latest acarya Krsna, er, Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu, five hundred years... These acaryas are thousands of years ago, they appeared. Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared near about five hundred years ago. He accepted Krsna -- the Supreme Personality of Godhead. And we are followers of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Acaryavan puruso veda: "One who is acaryavan, one who is following acarya, he knows things as they are." Acaryavan puruso veda.

Srimad-Bhagavatam Lectures

Don't follow any rascal. You follow the ācārya, you get the benefit of Kṛṣṇa consciousness

Lecture on SB 1.2.5 -- Visakhapatnam, February 20, 1972, At Ladies Club: Fortunately, in your South India all the great acaryas appeared-Sankaracarya, Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Visnu Svami, all of them. So you are very fortunate, and the acarya commentary is also there. Ramanujacarya commentary is there, Madhvacarya commentary is there. So you take advantage and read them very nicely. That is our request, Krsna consciousness. And try to understand Krsna. If you simply understand Krsna, then the result will be, janma karma me divyam yo janati tattvatah, in truth, if fact, which you can do only if you follow the acaryas, not these rascals. Don't follow any rascal. You follow the acarya, you get the benefit of Krsna consciousness. That is our request.

And without following the ācāryas, without following the mahājanas, without following the śāstras, how you can teach?

Lecture on SB 1.2.19 -- Calcutta, September 27, 1974: So we have to follow. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah [Cc. Madhya 17.186]. Don't follow rascals and fools. Then it will be useless waste of time. Follow the great acaryas. Acaryavan puruso veda. One who is acaryavan, who has accepted acarya, he knows. Others, all are fools, rascals. Acaryavan. Acaryopasanam. In the Bhagavad-gita it is said, amanitvam adambhitvam ahimsa ksantir arjavam, acaryopasanam [Bg. 13.8]. You have to first of all worship the acarya. Tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet [MU 1.2.12]. Guru and acarya, the same thing. So these are the process. Mahajano yena gatah. You cannot manufacture your ways of thinking. What you are? You are most insignificant living entity. And without following the acaryas, without following the mahajanas, without following the sastras, how you can teach?

Therefore you'll find in Vedic version, anuśṛṇuyet, anuvarṇayet. Anu. Anu means following. Following. We have to follow the ācāryas

Lecture on SB 1.5.12-13 -- New Vrindaban, June 11, 1969: So this press propaganda, this literary propaganda, is required because it is not sentiment. Krsna consciousness is not sentiment. It is not that some sentimental people have gathered here and dancing and chanting. No. There is background. There is philosophical background. There is theological understanding. It is not blind or sentimental. So therefore Narada advises Vyasadeva that "You are not only fortunate, but you are amogha-drk. Your vision is perfect because you are liberated." Amogha. Our vision -- we are not perfect. Therefore you'll find in Vedic version, anusrnuyet, anuvarnayet. Anu. Anu means following. Following. We have to follow the acaryas. Just like Vyasadeva. Amogha-drk: his vision is without any impediment. There are four kinds of impediments for the conditioned soul

Anyone who is following ācārya, whatever he says it is correct. Because he does not manufacture

Lecture on SB 1.7.5 -- Vrndavana, September 4, 1976: One has to accept a bona fide spiritual master and take knowledge from him. Vidvan. Vidvan means who is following vidvan. I have given this example many times, that I may be a fool, but if I have learned from a person that this is called microphone... So a child, if he says, "This is microphone," that is correct. Because the child is fool, when he says "This is microphone," that is not foolish, because he has heard it from the authorities, from his father or from his teacher, that "This is called microphone." And if he says correctly that "This is microphone," that statement is correct, although he may be a child, a fool. Similarly, acaryavan puruso veda. Anyone who is following acarya, whatever he says it is correct. Because he does not manufacture. He says what he has heard from the acaryas exactly like the child, what he has heard from his father, from the superior, he speaks.

So whatever their condition may be, but if you want actually freedom from this material conditional life, then you should follow ācārya

Lecture on SB 1.7.8 -- Vrndavana, September 7, 1976: So Kali-yuga is a very precarious condition: no knowledge, ignorance, and no nirvrtti. Everyone is in pravrtti. So whatever their condition may be, but if you want actually freedom from this material conditional life, then you should follow acarya. Acaryavan purusah. Acaryopasanam. Krsna is personally acting as acarya. He's coming again as acarya, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He has got so many representatives acarya: Sri Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Nimbarka, Visnu Svami, so many acaryas. Evam parampara-praptam [Bg. 4.2]. So take lesson from the acaryas. Sukadeva Gosvami is acarya. Vyasadeva is acarya. He's making the next acarya by teaching him-adhyapayam asa, sukam adhyapayam asa -- so that he is becoming acarya. So we have to go the acarya and take lesson.

The Ārya-samājīs and others, they take it as legend. But the ācāryas, they do not take it as legend. Therefore we have to follow the ācāryas

Lecture on SB 6.1.22 -- Indore, December 13, 1970: Now God is displaying as God. When these things are there, the rascals will say, "Oh, these are all legends." When God displays Himself as God, the rascals take it as legend. Just see. They do not believe in the sastras. They interpret in a different way. Is it not? Yes. And this is going on. And they are supposed to be... What is their interpretation about this Govardhana Hill? Do you know? Krsna's lifting the Govardhana Hill, what, how they interpret it? I know, the Mayavadis, they do not accept. Or "Krsna is ordinary human being." The Arya-samajis and others, they take it as legend. But the acaryas, they do not take it as legend. Therefore we have to follow the acaryas.

Therefore we have to follow the ācāryas. We are ignorant. To become ignorant is not any fault. But when the ignorant thinks that he knows everything, then he's fault

SB 6.2.2 -- Vrndavana, September 6, 1975, Purport: But what is the aim of life? Aim of life is to satisfy the Visnu, Lord Visnu. But they do not know it. Na te viduh svartha-gatim hi visnum durasaya ye bahir-artha-maninah [SB 7.5.31]. At least at the present moment, nobody knows that he has to satisfy the Supreme Lord. That is the aim of life. He does not know. He does not know even what is God. Just like animal. The animal does not know what is God. They are making research what is God, the theosophists, the theologists, making research. God is canvassing, "Here I am." Krsna, He comes. Yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati, tadatmanam srjami [Bg. 4.7]. When these rascals forget what is God, He comes. And still, they are making research. He is acting as God; He is instructing as God; He is accepted by the acaryas as God; still, these rascals are searching out God. This is their position. Why you are searching out? Here is God. God says, aham sarvasya prabhavah mattam sarvam pravartate [Bg. 10.8], aham adir hi devanam maharsinam sa saptasah [Bg 10.2]. And still you are searching God? That is the folly. Even God comes before you, and if you are demon, then you cannot understand what is God. Therefore we have to follow the acaryas. We are ignorant. To become ignorant is not any fault. But when the ignorant thinks that he knows everything, then he's fault. Therefore the ignorant people are advised in the Vedas, tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet srotriyam brahma-nistham [MU 1.2.12]. "So I am ignorant, I am fool, I am rascals. I shall remain like that"? No, that is not human life; that is animal life.

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Lectures

All are our ācāryas, śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya prabhu-nityānanda, śrī-advaita gadādhara śrīvāsādi-gaura-bhakta-vṛnda. All of them are ācāryas because they are following the ācārya, supreme ācārya, Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Therefore they are ācārya

Lecture on CC Adi-lila 1.13 -- Mayapur, April 6, 1975: So Advaita Acarya is the typical example how to become acarya. All are our acaryas, sri-krsna-caitanya prabhu-nityananda, sri-advaita gadadhara srivasadi-gaura-bhakta-vrnda. All of them are acaryas because they are following the acarya, supreme acarya, Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Therefore they are acarya. Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh [Bg. 4.2]. So we have to follow the acarya. Then, when we are completely, cent per cent follower of acarya, then you can also act as acarya. This is the process. Don't become premature acarya. First of all follow the orders of acarya, and you become mature. Then it is better to become acarya. Because we are interested in preparing acarya, but the etiquette is, at least for the period the guru is present, one should not become acarya. Even if he is complete he should not, because the etiquette is, if somebody comes for becoming initiated, it is the duty of such person to bring that prospective candidate to his acarya. Not that "Now people are coming to me, so I can become acarya." That is avamanya. Navamanyeta karhicit. Don't transgress this etiquette. Navamanyeta. That will be falldown. Just like during the lifetime of our Guru Maharaja, all our Godbrothers now who are acting as acarya, they did not do so. That is not etiquette. Acaryam mam vijaniyat na avaman... That is insult. So if you insult your acarya, then you are finished.

And to become ācārya is not very difficult. First of all, to become very faithful servant of your ācārya, follow strictly what he says

Lecture on CC Adi-lila 1.13 -- Mayapur, April 6, 1975: And to become acarya is not very difficult. First of all, to become very faithful servant of your acarya, follow strictly what he says. Try to please him and spread Krsna consciousness. That's all. It is not at all difficult. Try to follow the instruction of your Guru Maharaja and spread Krsna consciousness. That is the order of Lord Caitanya.

amara ajnaya guru hana tara' ei desa
yare dekha tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa

[Cc. Madhya 7.128] "By following My order, you become guru." And if we strictly follow the acarya system and try our best to spread the instruction of Krsna... Yare dekha tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa [Cc. Madhya 7.128]. There are two kinds of krsna-upadesa. Upadesa means instruction. Instruction given by Krsna, that is also 'krsna'-upadesa, and instruction received about Krsna, that is also 'krsna'-upadesa.

We follow the ācārya. And it is recommended in the Bhagavad-gītā, ācāryopāsanam. You must follow the ācāryas, the Rāmānujācārya, Madhvācārya, even Śaṅkarācārya, Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Then you'll get the real answer

Lecture on CC Madhya-lila 8.128 -- Bhuvanesvara, January 24, 1977: Prabhupada: That you have no intelligence to understand. But what is given by Vyasadeva, that is accepted by all the acaryas. We are not so learned as you are, but we follow the acarya. And it is recommended in the Bhagavad-gita, acaryopasanam. You must follow the acaryas, the Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, even Sankaracarya, Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Then you'll get the real answer. Acaryavan puruso veda: "One who follows the acarya, he knows." Others, they do not know. So you cannot question "Why? How Vyasadeva wrote?" That is stated in the Bhagavad-gita. Sanjaya says vyasa prasada. How one can understand? By the mercy of Vyasadeva. So we have to see. Instead of criticizing in that adverse way, we have to follow the acarya. Acaryopasanam. So you'll find Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Visnu Svami, Nimbarka, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, they have accepted in that way. So what is the use of our questioning? We should follow. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah [Cc. Madhya 17.186]. Otherwise it is not possible.

We have to follow the ācāryas; otherwise we cannot... Our own interpretation, our own tiny brain, cannot conceive. We have to follow

Lecture on CC Madhya-lila 20.146-151 -- New York, December 3, 1966: So God is person. God, so far Vedic literature is concerned, God is person and accepted by the acaryas. We have to follow the acaryas; otherwise we cannot... Our own interpretation, our own tiny brain, cannot conceive. We have to follow. Evam parampara-praptam [Bg. 4.2]. Sri Krsna said to Arjuna, and from Arjuna there are parampara. There are disciplic succession. We have to follow that way. Now, here Lord Caitanya, although He is Krsna Himself, still, He is in that parampara, in that disciplic succession. He says that "In order to understand Krsna, you have to study His energies. He is person. His energies are impersonal."

Festival Lectures

So we have to follow the ācāryas. If we at all, if we are at all interested in spiritual science, then we must follow the Vedic instruction

His Divine Grace Srila Sac-cid-ananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura's Appearance Day, Lecture -- London, September 3, 1971:: So this is one of the incidents. There are many incidences. He was very strong man. He punished many pandas in the tirthas who exploit visitors. So, this is the position of devotee. In spite of his becoming a responsible magistrate, a householder, still, he was acarya. So we have to follow the acaryas. If we at all, if we are at all interested in spiritual science, then we must follow the Vedic instruction, tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet [MU 1.2.12]. We must approach. You cannot have spiritual knowledge simply by speculating. Impossible. Simply waste of time. Srama eva hi kevalam [SB 1.2.8]. You must go to the... In the Bhagavad-gita, therefore, it is recommended, acaryopasanam. Acarya-upasana. Not only worshiping the Lord, but also the acarya. Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, guru-krsna-krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija [Cc. Madhya 19.151]. Guru, acarya, and Krsna. One should seek favor of both of them. Not that "I am now seeking favor of Krsna. What is the use of guru or acarya?" No. You cannot overlap acarya and go to Krsna. That is not possible. Krsna will not accept you.

Initiation Lectures

You have to follow the ācārya. The, what will be the result? I shall cross over.. The extensive, unlimitedly extensive, the ocean of material existence

Sannyasa Initiation Lecture -- Calcutta, January 26, 1973:: All great predecessors... There were other sannyasis, Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, even Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He was a sannyasi. So purvatamair mahadbhih upasitam. These actions were executed by our previous acaryas. Purvatamair mahadbhih upasitam. Mahadbhih. Mahajano yena gatah sa panthah [Cc. Madhya 17.186]. You have to follow the acarya. Acarya upasana. Aham... The, what will be the result? Now, aham tarisyami. I shall cross over.... Tarisyami. Duranta-param. The extensive, unlimitedly extensive, the ocean of material existence. Aham tarisyami duranta-param tama. Tama means this material world, which is darkness. Because our business is to go out of this darkness to the light. Tamasi ma jyotir gama. We have to go to the light. So this is the process.

General Lectures

These are the authoritative statements; therefore, we have to follow the ācāryas. They pick up nice authorized verses from various Vedic literature and present before you

Lecture -- Gorakhpur, February 17, 1971:: So any way you do it, it is all the same. Absolute. Tad-arthe akhila-cestitam, ity ady asmin eva purane tatra tatra pathyate. Sridhara Swami says, "In this Purana, Maha Purana, Srimad-Bhagavatam, these things are explained everywhere, as well as these things are explained in all other Vedic scriptures. Puranantare ca papa-ksayas ca bhavati smaratam tam ahar-nisam iti. These are the authoritative statements; therefore, we have to follow the acaryas. They pick up nice authorized verses from various Vedic literature and present before you. So Sridhara Swami says, puranantare.

So we are to follow the ācāryas, not these casual interpretations, interpreters, to understand Bhagavad-gītā. Then we will be misled. We cannot understand

Pandal Lecture -- Bombay, March 31, 1971:: In the Srimad-Bhagavatam also it is confirmed, ete camsa-kalah pumsah krsnas tu bhagavan svayam [SB 1.3.28]. Even Sankaracarya, whom we call impersonalist, he has accepted in his comment on Bhagavad-gita that "Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead appearing as the son of Devaki and Vasudeva." Similarly, all other acaryas-Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Visnu Svami, Nimbarka, and lately, Caitanya Mahaprabhu... Of course, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is both acarya and Krsna Himself. Apart from His being Krsna, if we take the part which He played as acarya, that is, He also accepts Krsna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Aradhyo bhagavan vrajesa-tanayas tad-dhama vrndavanam. So we are to follow the acaryas, not these casual interpretations, interpreters, to understand Bhagavad-gita. Then we will be misled. We cannot understand. Because Krsna says that "The mystery of Bhagavad-gita will be understood by you because you are My very dear friend." So... "Because you are My devotee." So unless one is devotee, how one can understand Bhagavad-gita and Krsna? That is not possible.

You simply try to understand, without any malinterpretation, Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, and you understand what is Kṛṣṇa, what is God. And you follow the ācāryas, then your life is successful

Lecture -- San Francisco, June 28, 1971:: So the Gosvamis showed us the way. Then next, sri-gauranga-gunanuvarnana-vidhau. They were very expert in describing the transcendental qualities of Lord Sri Caitanya, Gaurasundara, sri-gauranga-gunanuvarnana-vidhau. So in this way they passed their life in Krsna consciousness, and if we'll follow the footsteps of such mahajana, mahajano yena gatah sa panthah [Cc. Madhya 17.186]. Our business is, we haven't got to make research work. Everything is there, given by the Gosvamis and acarya. We have simply to follow. That's all. Who, what is Krsna, what is God, you haven't got to make research. Krsna is personally saying about Himself, Bhagavad-gita, "I am like this. Raso 'ham apsu kaunteya [Bg. 7.8], mattah sarvam pravartate. So these are thing there. You have simply to accept it, to know it and follow it. Then your life is successful. We are not so foolish that we are going to make research work. Why? When there are so many things present already, what is the use of research work? First of all assimilate what is already there. And what is research you can make? Your senses are faulty, imperfect. What research you can work? So that is not possible. That is humbug. You simply try to understand, without any malinterpretation, Bhagavad-gita As It Is, and you understand what is Krsna, what is God. And you follow the acaryas, then your life is successful.

Philosophy Discussions

So ācāryavān, one who has accepted ācārya. Therefore our principle is to follow the ācārya. In Bhagavad-gītā also it is said, ācārya upāsanam, one must worship ācārya, to go to the right knowledge

Philosophy Discussion on Johann Gottlieb Fichte:: Prabhupada: Yes, that is our philosophy. If it is approved and Rupa Gosvami says, anukulyena krsnanu-silanam [Cc. Madhya 19.167], our ought to be is what is Krsna approves or His representative approves. That is ought to be. Our standard. Otherwise it is not, not ought to be. Therefore we accept our guidance (indistint). Tad vijnanartham sa gurum eva abhigacchet [MU 1.2.12]. Therefore Vedas say that one must approach a bona fide spiritual master, in order to be fully in knowledge. Acaryavan puruso veda. These are Vedic injunctions. One who has accepted a bona fide spiritual master, he knows everything. Acaryavan puruso veda. Veda means in knowledge. So acaryavan, one who has accepted acarya. Therefore our principle is to follow the acarya. In Bhagavad-gita also it is said, acarya upasanam, one must worship acarya, to go to the right knowledge. So that is our philosophy.

Correspondence

1947 to 1965 Correspondence

The whole thing has been disturbed in the set of Sanatana Dharma only by violating this principle of following the Acarya

Letter to Jugalkishore Birla — Bombay 26 August, 1958: I hope you will not misunderstand the position of the Acarya who is so important a figure in the matter of learning the transcendental science. The Acarya is the direct representative of the Personality of Godhead. And no body can claim to become a bona fide Acarya if he has not strictly followed the footprints of the previous Acaryas authorized in the matter. The whole thing has been disturbed in the set of Sanatana Dharma only by violating this principle of following the Acarya. So far the Bhagavad-gita is concerned every one, let him be a very great scholar in the mundane sense, must be in confirmed position along with the mode of understanding of Sri Arjuna. That is the crucial point of testing an Acarya false or real Sri Arjuna is the first man to understand Geeta and the mode of his understanding is clearly defined in the Bhagavad-gita. So there is no difficulty in testing an Acarya whether he is false or bona fide.
